The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Mariusz stared down at the phone number and information he had been given for the bodyguard. The female bodyguard whose contact information he had received from Tses. This option definitely wasn't his first choice. Not by a long shot. But, everyone he had asked said no. He was running a bit short on time and so he would have to bite the bullet and find someone to accompany him this way. The question now became whether or not to tell the woman what he was hiring her for, at least the real reason. He decided not to, otherwise she might think he was hiring an escort which definitely wasn't the case.
Sighing, Mariusz tapped the numbers into his cell phone and hit call before holding the phone up to his ear. He could hear the phone on the other end of the connection ringing. Why wouldn't this female bodyguard that Tses knew just answer the phone already so he could get this all over with?
Normally, Sara had a hard time sleeping. It was hard to tire her body out, and often her mind was left exhausted, left feeling numb by the time that she finally found sleep. The sleeplessness was a side effect of her regenerative mutation. The fact that she took her time answering her phone was a side effect of… finally finding sleep.
Sara was back at the mansion. It might have been day light hours, but her mutation had finally let her go to sleep early that morning. Her phone vibrated across the table and chirped out the flight of the Valkyries and really Sara was awake at the first Dun dada Duun dun. However it took Sara nearly to the point where the answering service would record a message, for her to pick up. “Hello. Were speaking.” Sara mumbled sleepily into the phone. With her free elbow she proper herself up against the pillow of her bed. The knuckle of her hand holding the phone rubbed the sleep out of her eyes. No need to hold the receiver next to her ear when she could hear so well already.
"Were," Mariusz asked, speaking into the cell phone in his taloned hands. He wasn't looking for someone named Were. He was looking for someone named Sarah. He pulled the phone away from his face and looked at the number he had poked in and checked it against the number that Tses had given him. The numbers matched so either Sarah had changed her number or she was associated with someone named Were, though that name was very odd. Still, he supposed that his name could be equally odd to others as well.
"I am trying to get in contact with someone named Sarah. I was given this number to contact her about a possible personal security job," Marisuz said into the phone. With a little bit of luck this person he had called would know how to reach the woman he was looking for. He'd turned up nothing for dates so far for the party, but this would suffice as a back-up plan.
Sara grimaced, rubbing the inner corners of her eyes as she held the phone a few inches away from her face. Crap. She hated it when her personal life got mixed with her business life. Using two different names worked for a long time, but... Well... This wasn't the first time that she'd gotten them mixed up.
"You're talking to Sara." Sara replied. She was still waking up the rest of the way and sitting up in her bed was proving to not help how tired she currently felt. "My friends call me Sara." She admitted. "However I don't care witch name you want to use for me. May I ask whom I am speaking to?"
Mariusz listened to the response on the other end of the connection. Apparently he had called the right person after all. That was certainly a positive then. "My name is Mariusz Kasparek, I am the son of the Czech Ambassador and I need to engage your valuable services," he said into the phone. "Would you prefer to talk details or price first?"
Sara leaned forward rummaging in a bag near her bed, where she kept pen and a calendar together. "Exactly what type of services do you think I have?" Sara asked. She hated when people weren't being descriptive. there were so many ways that things could get misunderstood. "Before I name a price, it would be nice to know what you need me to do."
"I was told that you provide personal bodyguard services," Mariusz replied. "I would require you to accompany me to a masquerade ball being put on by the Embassy and to protect me, should the need arise, while at the party and during transit to and from the event. You will need a formal gown and a mask, which I fully expect to be billed for. You would also, it goes without saying, be expected to adhere to the proper decorum unless circumstances beyond your control dictated otherwise."
The mask part of the request sounded like fun. Also with it being masks, Sara felt no need to warn her clientele about her visible mutation. The gown.... Sara couldn't remember ever wearing a dress. However if the client was flipping the bill, maybe wearing a dress for one night wouldn't be too terrible. "let me know ahead of time if there is a color scheme that I need to match."
Sara mused over the thought of payment for a moment. "my price for the evening will be three thousand dollars. If I have to do any....let's call it... Heavy lifting, it may go up. I also expect a third of the payment up front."
"I propose two, half up front," Mariusz countered, slipping easily into politician negotiation mode. "I am already paying the costs of your dress, mask, and other preparation. I ask only that you provide me with receipts for reimbursement the night of the event. Furthermore, I suspect there will be little heavy lifting. However, in the event that such activity is required I will triple your pay to six," the bird man continued smoothly.
Sara paused as the voice on the other end went on suggesting that she adjust her price. That wasn't going to fly. "Mariusz Kasparek,Right?" was asking to make sure she had the Annunciation of his name right however she didn't slow down long enough to really be corrected if she was wrong. "I may take into consideration the cost of the.... uniform that you wish for me to purchase, but my price is not negotiable. It would be disrespectful to the rest of my clientele, myself, and to you, if I were to lower my price for you. You may be the son of a Czech ambassador, but I will not belittle my services by lowering the price. If you have a problem with that, you can find someone else." Sara's words were steady, but firm. She wasn't angry. In fact she was used to people trying to get a cheaper price out of her. Most customers would, and for that reason, she stood firm on her price with every client.
Mariusz sighed, though he was careful not to sigh directly into the phone's mouthpiece. He had hoped to get a better deal, of course. Though, he rationalized that if his father hadn't demanded that he bring a date he wouldn't have been in this situation in the first place. So, in a way, it wasn't really all his fault. There was also the bright side that it wasn't his money he was spending to hire the woman and he wouldn't have had to hire her in the first place if everyone wasn't so particular about dating a bird man. Even though this wasn't really a date in the strictest since as he had not been able to track down Evelyn to ask her to go.
"Very well, I agree to your price and terms. How do I need to send you the first installment of the payment and how would you like to receive the second. Cash? Check? Direct deposit? Wire transfer? Cashier's Check? I am rather flexible in this regard," the Czech man said, speaking into the phone again.
