Again, her relief was palpable...and again she wanted to snip at Aurum for presuming she wanted him to stay. She'd just made the invitation...but he'd already known he was going to say.
Wielding the spoon like a weapon, and splashing just a little bit of water all over the place as she turned, Riley opened her mouth to give him a piece of her mind...then saw him with his sleeves pushed up, working diligently at the stuff in the kitchen.
"Good." she said with a smile, and turned back to stir the pasta. Nobody wanted it to stick.
"I think you've even managed to leave a few sets of clothes here."

Problem solved, they turned their attentions to making an excellent meal, and holing up for the duration of the riots. He called his parents, to let them know, called anyone else who needed a heads up. Nobody wanted to get caught outside, and they'd already stocked up enough materials for a few weeks. People can survive on peanut butter and canned soup, right?
The meal was good. They finished it, and watched movies into the night. The electricity was still working. He'd checked to see they had candles, just in case. For some reason, it didn't feel like it was the end of the world. It was probably the company he kept.
