The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

It had been week's since Aura had gone into spying for the order. As a result she had been around a little less then before and the rigors of keeping up her persona leaked into her normal personality. Aura had learned to express herself better in the short time with the rather surprising result to herself. She had wanted to understand how people who did not eat and breath combat lived and her time as Samantha had certainly given her a glance into that, from a Human Supremacist point of view anyway.
She sat on the bed in a pale blue silk nightgown. It was nice living in the same place as Allison and Aura had learned to keep her temper below a point that broke anything. She had come a long way since she had met Allison, Aura had little doubt she might be dead otherwise. Her relationship however had made her think more of self preservation.
Aura looked around and smiled, thing's had changed much since she had left the forest, but it was hard to say most of those changes if not all of them had been for the better. She ran her soft blue nails through her hair as she waited for Allison to arrive.
Allison was not very good at dealing with problems. She could function while she had problems, but she couldn't deal with them.
Mostly, her approach was to pretend they weren't problems. Laugh, drop comments and jokes like the problem was as meaningful as the weather, smile while she chatted about it, brush it off like a mild irritation. Eventually, that was all it would be, or at least it would seem like it enough of the time to count. When that didn't work... she ignored them. Didn't say a word, pretended there was no problem, and denied it until she forgot about it. She hadn't yet found a problem she couldn't either lighten or deny.
Except... she had. Well, she could maybe sort of ignore it by herself; it wasn't the pregnancy that was the problem, it was where it came from. By herself Allison could just... not think about that part, mostly. Except when doctors asked who the father was, and she snarled at them. She hadn't known she could snarl like that, much less unintentionally.
But apart from that, the doctor had been convenient. Mostly with one particular concept. Most miscarriages occur in the first trimester of a pregnancy, and that's about a third of pregnancies. You might not want to mention this to anyone until after that point.
That had been a really nice order to have, for three months. It was a lot less nice after three months. Because now she did have to tell, and on her own she could just ignore the why, but Allison wasn't on her own. And there were essentially two options for why; willing or not, cheating or raped. She really, really didn't want to think about, much less say, the second, but she couldn't let Aura think the first.
So she had to figure out some way to talk about it. Next time she saw Aura, because if Allison didn't make that rule for herself, she would keep delaying and that would just cause more problems. She just... had no idea how to. She couldn't even make herself really think about it. How could she say anything?
She'd... figure something out. Allison sighed. She'd gotten back to her room even though she really wasn't looking around at all; one of the benefits of being familiar with Sanctuary. And she didn't have to think about opening the door.
"...Aura! Hi." That was surprise, mostly. Hopefully entirely. Surprise was odd, but not really a problem. "You're back?"
Damn that personal rule. Allison really couldn't break it; that would make all personal rules useless for months at least, along with that whole procrastination problem. She had to explain. She just... couldn't.
Aura looked up as she saw the door knob turn. With a broad smile on her face Aura was off the bed and moving toward allision. "I am, i am sorry work has kept me busy" she said feeling a little guilty. Her fingers played with the bit of lace just over the low cut of the nightgown. Aura's eyes wandered Allison's body without trying to hide it at all. Seeing Allsion made everything she was doing worth it.
Aura walked back into the room her smile brighting a moment. Quickly going through a drawer she took out a small box. Walking back to Allison Aura swept her into her Arm's pulling her tight and kissed her deeply and full of passion. She had wanted to do that for day's and smiled, looking into her love's eyes after. letting her hand Rest on Allsion's shoulder, she pressed her nail's softly against her skin, before sliding them across her neck. So maybe the kiss was not all she wanted......
Remember what was in her other hand, she slipped the small box into Allsion's hand, and grinned stepping back. The dangling Sapphire earrings and the matching gold chain necklace with a charm resembling a two lovebird's side by side, their eyes made from small saphires as well. Aura tugged on the bottom of her nightgown, it was the first item she had actually picked out herself. Allison was beautiful and Aura wonderd what she had done for the gods to grant her the happyness he had found.
As she waited she nervously played with longer strands of her hair. her own glossed cherry lip's shimmered softly in the pale light. She had no idea of the quality of gemstone's but she did not the particular set however had no been remotely cheap.
"It's okay." Allison's smile felt kind of terrified, but genuine. "I'm glad you're back."
...It was really tempting to just go along with Aura. Or Aura's eyes, at least. Pretend everything was normal and not have to upset everyone. She couldn't--or she shouldn't, anyway--but it was really hard for Allison to convince herself of that again.
...She wasn't going to stop the kiss, though. That would have been more than she could handle herself, even if she didn't think it would hurt Aura. And getting to cuddle--or cling might be a bit more accurate, at the moment--was reassuring.
Allison didn't quite notice the box at first; only realized it was there when Aura stepped away and Allison had to open her eyes again. When she did she blinked, smiled at Aura, and opened it. She smiled more when she saw the necklace and earrings, and let herself focus on them. "They're beautiful." And, since she didn't have anywhere to set the box and therefore didn't have hands (and because she remembered their first date), Allison smiled at Aura. "Could you help me put them on?"
Aura smiled, slipping the jewelry from the box and slipping behind Allsion, Aura's aura formed, around her hand, to keep the small earrings close as she draped her arms around Allsion for a moment, she was tempted to play a bit more, but decided it could wait. Moving Allsion's hair out of the way, she slipped the necklace on, clipping it in place, then put in the earrings.
Even six months ago Aura's concept of money had been laughable. Noe however she understood what thing's cost even though Aura had never had a shortage of such, weather it be stolen, or funds the order had on hand. It was funny, it had taken an apocalypse to make her understand the concept of monetary value. Even without it though, she knew the red head was the most valuable thing in the room.
"Their almost as pretty as you" she said, as she let, Allison hair flow through her fingers, as she stepped back, moving to Allison's side as not to block her view if she wanted to look at them on her. "Have you been keeping out of trouble?" She asked her tone playful and innocent. She knew Allison was...danger prone was a good way to put it.
Allison might have had another reason for asking for help; she leaned against Aura, and let herself enjoy the contact instead of thinking about... other things. It worked; she let her eyes close and was smiling while Aura played with her hair.
Until she heard Aura's question, anyway. The smile ran away then. She... couldn't think of any way to start the conversation that she liked, there probably wasn't one, but having Aura start it (if accidentally) threw her off even more. "Sort of. For... the last few months. ...I need to talk to you about that."
It was hard to look at Aura; Allison wanted to curl up and hide, and it took far more effort than it should to look up instead. "Do you remember Megan?" Allison wasn't shaking, but her muscles felt way too tense. Shaking might have been easier.
Aura felt the mood in the room die faster then she kill someone. Allsion was nervous about something and that put Aura in a protective mood. " The spider lady?" she asked tending to relate people more with their powers then names. "Am i going to need to kill her?" Aura asked tieing megan to the distress right away in her mind. Aura knew little of the spider lady
Aura also considered the frequently of Allison finding trouble and that this seemed to bother her far more. She knew whatever this was had to be very serious, but Aura wondered about the time Allison mentioned. This had happened months ago which bothered Aura as well, but she kept herself as calm as she could.
Even so her own distress at the situation could be seen as small flickers of her aura came quickly into being then dissipated just as fast never quite becoming solid. "You can tell me anything, My Love. We will fix whatever trouble you, if i can not then the Order surely can" Aura said knowing Allison knew of the organization she was a part of.
"Yes. What? No! No, she didn't do anything wrong." That was... not a very clear start, as Allison tried to keep up with questions, and force her own thoughts into some kind of organization beyond panic. Hopefully it was understandable. "I was with Megan. She didn't hurt me, she helped me." Sort of. She'd tried, anyway, and nearly died for it, so Allison thought that counted. She'd probably delayed them, anyway.
"It's not--" fixable, her mind filled in, but she was too inclined to giggle about it to get the words out, and too close to choking to really giggle. Neither made any sense. Allison buried her face in Aura's shoulder and tried to force the words to obey her. "I was with Megan. We were... when I met her she'd been trying to catch drug dealers, I was just kind of there, and they kidnapped both of us, and we killed them. They deserved it. We were... sort of doing that again, except we heard some guys talking about stalking and torturing mutants, and we kind of ran in before we actually knew anything about them.
"And it would have been fine, they were all humans, only I guess there weren't any spiders around, and the ink... I don't know, I lost it somehow, I don't know what happened." She still didn't know, and she wasn't sure if she wanted to or not; she didn't want to think about it. Allison had to fight to breath again, and noticed she was holding onto Aura's arm far too tightly to be comfortable. She tried to relax, and kept her face hidden. "But they won, but I'd already killed... one or two of them first... and blinded one, so they were mad. And Megan tried to stop them, but they almost killed her--they would have, except the Judge showed up, and I made him let me take her to the healers here." By convincing Alex to mob the Judge with squirrels so that the Judge couldn't do anything about it, but still. "He killed... most of them. And, um, I asked Isabel to help me kill the rest, so they're all dead now, I just... didn't want to talk about it and she doesn't really ask questions about killing humans."
And Allison was avoiding the topic. It turned out not to be really possible to stop herself, only not she'd run out of other things to say. "So. Um. I'm pregnant. And it's... been long enough, it's probably going to live."
So spider woman would not need to die. It might have been a relief for Aura if her mind was not otherwise focused. The fact she had helped Allison out won her credit as well. As Allison buried her face in her shoulder, Aura brought her hand's around her, one hand firmly on Allison's back, the other rubbing the back of her head.
As Aura listened, her few attempts to talk stopped as Allison continued, Aura barely contained her own rage and fury and a sense of failure. Someone had tried to kill Allison and almost succeeded and she was not there. Worse she had not even known about it. She felt as though she had failed Allison completely. That Allison turned to Isabel for help instead of her was also a blow to her ego and she knew it bothered her more then it prolbely should have. Still it made sense, Isabel would kill humans with possabely less thought then Aura might have. It was a good choice, she admitted to herself, even if it caused her mental lash of pain to admit.
"Your.....pregnant?" Aura asked as if she had not heard Allison correctly. She knew she had but it seemed to surreal. "By the Great Mother and the Lord of Souls...." she said still trying to grasp the concept.
Aura's mind was in collapse she wanted to yell at Allison for being stupid enough to Attack human's like that without being there and for not telling her this sooner. She also wanted to comfort and make Allison feel safe. Her strength failed her entirely and Aura had no idea how she maintained standing much les supporting Allison.
"My Love...I.." Aura had no idea where to begin. "Do......are we keeping the child? " Aura asked, it was not the question she had intended but they seemed the only words that would escape her. By instinct or by watching to Much TV, her hand slipped From the back of Allison's head and onto her belly.
"This is overwhelming to me.....I can only imagine the trouble is has brought you. I do not know my own mind at the moment but i do know that I Love you with all that i am. " she said her voice trembling a bit as her emotions caught up with her.
TO say Aura was mentally uprepeared for the concept of being a Mother was an understatement. She knew nothing of children and had always assumed she would be long dead before hand. The fates had a strange sense of Humor and she did not know weather to curse or thank the Mother Goddess.
"I... don't know." Allison hadn't been able to make up her mind about that. She hadn't wanted to have to. It would have been easier, earlier, but.... "I don't know what to do." She could see herself as a mother. And she could see herself happy that way, but she could also see herself happy without a kid, too. And it was... it wasn't Aura's, but she never could have Aura's; did it matter who the father technically was? She wasn't even sure she wanted a kid so much as a normal life, easy and like she'd always been told she'd have, and had to fight not to be tempted by. She'd never won that fight, just put off losing. Allison could have a kid, could raise a kid, but she couldn't figure out whether she wanted to, or whether Aura would want her to, or... or anything she needed to.
The hand on her stomach was... powerful. Like joyful advertisement cliches, like story books and soap opera happily ever afters, and like Stephan's hand on burns. He was dead, he couldn't touch her, but he was, but so was Aura and happily ever after. The associations were fighting and Allison couldn't react; just stare at Aura with wide eyes and her heart racing.
The moment was over, and Allison was able to relax and rest her head on Aura's shoulder again; leaning this time, instead of hiding. "I love you too. I'm sorry, I... I didn't want to think about it, I didn't want to talk about it, and I didn't want you to be upset... I didn't know how to tell you." That exhale had tried to be a laugh, but Allison's thoughts were too scattered. "I don't know."
"I can not say their are not part's of this that upset me, but we need not deal with such thing's now. She said knowing she was upset she had not learned of this for so long. Still Such thing were not as important of several other factors that flooded through her mind in a rush. It was hard to know where to start and Aura was glad the baby was still a long way off.
"Can we handle a baby? Financially we will not have any trouble but our......life styles...are extremely hazardous to our own health." She said shaking her head slightly but she smiled. "Your a danger magnet and i'm on the Most wanted list." She said realizing their were likely scores of reasons why they should never attempt parenting. Even Aura could see this and that meant their likely far more.
"Our child, barring anything unforeseen would be a glorious thing. Their are worse candidates for parents im sure....Isabel for example and maybe Roach" she said unable to picture either them as terribly parental. Their was her own upbringing as well the forest she grew up with had hardly been the place for budding Mutant's. Sanctuary however was a beautiful place and one of the most protected places they could have the kid.
"Does anyone else know? We may wish to keep this under wrap" she said considering having people learn to early might not be good at all.
