The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Matthew rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. Amazingly, he had slept for *cough* days, and found himself in a strange room alone, with a letter, though the couldn't read it. He steadied himself as the wobbled out of the small, twin sized bed, that reminded him of hospitals. His legs felt like spaghetti as he fell to the floor. During this time, his memories shot back into his mind like a bullet. This time, he waited for the blood to circulate, and his balance to return, before the gracefully walked over to the wooden door. He slumped down what seemed to be a million stairs, unknown faces staring at him, probably due to his young age. He would have couldn't the stairs, but couldn't get past 15, which he thought was pretty pathetic.
He found his way through the Sanctuary, which was an elaborate labyrinth to himself. He furrowed his eyebrows in frustration, and continued to search. He was searching for Abyss, or rather the room he had seen him last, however many days ago that was..... He oddly thought that he might be in the said room. Yet, if not, he might hear about some daily events, or whereabouts of his target. He hadn't a clue what he was supposed to do here, he was brought here by Abyss, but hadn't known what exactly for. Was it a family thing? An adoption thing? Or was it simply another messed up lab, and secretly men in white coats, and smelling of latex gloves were observing his actions. This made him shudder, and he tried not to think about it, though those thoughts made him. He did his best to silence them, just as he turned into the dining hall. He recognized where everyone was when he had arrived. It seemed much bigger that day. He shrugged it off, hoping he wouldn't be out of place.

>You gonna eat that?<
Amp slapped her sister's hand away from her omelette. "Hey! Eat your own!"
>Mine's got mushrooms in it.<
"So? They're not gonna kill ya."
>Yeah, but they're canned. They're nasty!<
"Then you should have waited and gotten a special, like I did."
The red-headed pair sat at one of the tables near the door, eating breakfast. Vibe grumbled silently and continued to eat sullenly. When they finished they got up to dump their trash, and nearly stumbled over a tiny body that had entered the room.
"Hey! Watch it Squirt!," Amp snapped at him. The kid looked to be only five or six.
>I didn't know there were kids here.< Vibe frowned down at the pale boy.
Matthew fell to the ground, looking abashed and terrified, eyes wide. He had a bad past with others, and didn't know if he could trust them or not. He collected himself, so to speak, and stood up. He mumbled something in a volume they probably couldn't hear. He then repeated it. "S-sorry..." He said looking away, "Do you know....Abyss.....where...he is...?" He asked, though parts of it were still unaudible. Just then did he notice the girls were twins, and that their garbage was strewn about him.
He wondered what they were going to do in response. There were to many unknown dangers in this house, most of them alive, and walking about. He should have just left himself to die instead of fighting for survival....He blinked this out of him, and bit his lip. Should he say something else? All he could manage to do was stare up at the tall twins.
Matthwe picked bits of garbage off himself, while wandering what he were supposed to do, he knew no body, or while he, himself, were there. Perhaps the twins would know... He tugged on the pants of the one who hadn't spoken since they had not-so-gracefully met. "Why are all we here?" He asked, feeling off, as he usually never talked to anyone. He didn't like the appearance of the other sister, she seemed more rash, perhaps less gentle.

Vibe glanced down and grimaced slightly as he tugged at her leg.
"Why are all we here?"
Vibe shot her sister a look. >I am not explaining that one.<
"Neither am I," Amp snorted. "Look squirt, we're not an answer box. Ask this.... Abyss person, whenever you see him. Or go bug the secretary. She likes to answer questions." Amp smirked.
"I was right. You are mean." He said frumpily, and continued to bother her. "Why won't you answer me?" He asked angrily, before asking, " What a Seggracary? And you just said abyss isn't here. I'm pretty much lost..." He said huffing, panically. He rubbed his eyes again, then stuck a hand over his pocket, making sure his marionette was there. Maybe he could show them what he was made of....or rather what a genetic mutation allowed him to do.
>And I wish he couldn't either.< "What a Seggracary? and you just said abyss isn't here. I'm pretty much lost..."
>Don't we wish you were.< Suddenly her frown turned to a smile. She nudged her sister, and tapped out an idea on her food tray. Amp smirked mischeiviously.
"The word is 'secretary'. And I'm sure she would just love to answer all your questions. It's their job, ya know?" She stowed her tray and held out her hand. "Why don't you come with us, and we'll take you to her."
The pair knew kids loved to ask questions, and hoped that they could dump him with the receptionist just long enough to slip away.
Calley was a morning person. He was also an afternoon, evening, and middle-of-the-night person, so all-in-all, he was a person that everyone could glare at for at least part of the day. Right now he was heading to the cafeteria with a cheerful little spring in his step to try and beg/steal the bacon off of someone's plate. It had been far too long since he'd last had the Pig Meat of the Gods.
Or at least, that was the plan. Until something small and pestering two people he'd become fond of pestering himself came into his view. The Something was about two and a half feet taller than Calley's cat form was. The People were the Wonderful Love of His Life (Amp) and Grumpy McGrumpitha (Vibe).
He padded over to them, and stared at the new kid in the face. How he did this: he stood on his back legs and put his paws up on the kid's chest. Why he did this: because it wasn't often that he could look someone in the face when he was catting. His whiskers tickled the kid's nose. With a satisfied 'Murr', he went back to all fours. Small, scruffy, and annoying: just the way Calley liked 'em.
Bacon was fleeting. Following people... now that was hours of entertainment.
He happily 'mewed' at Grumpy, just so she'd know she was loved.
Matthew wondered about the seemingly change of additude in the twins. He wasn't sure if he liked it or not. However, either way, he wasn't going to be dumped off with some lady, whatever she was, or did. He continued to walk with them, before a small furry creature approached him. He knew it was a cat, he'd seen them before, just not so close. He stayed still as the cat seemingly sized him up. He wondered what it WAS doing, but he had little time to ponder about that as the tickling whiskers caused the young and baffled mutant to sneeze, twice. He sniffed somewhat quietly, and stuck his hands close to his body. He didn't know if it would bite or not. Hopefully not....
He suddenly hurried up behind the twins, putting them inbetween the cat and himself, slightly peeking out from behind. He wanted to pet it, partially because he'd only done it a few times in his life, and partially because he loved the warm, soft fur. He had once thought about stealing a cat, and keeping him as a pet, but that would only bring unwanted attention. He didn't need that. Now, he was dying to have a pet, something that could share his confusion with the halls of this place.

>Great, another pest appears.< Vibe's frown increased as a little black and white feline came into view. She crossed her arms, and began tapping her foot irritably.
"Heya Checkers. Raiding the pantry again?" Amp grinned and walked over to a nearby table where two young guys were eating. She picked up a strip of ham off of one of the plates.
"Hey! I was eating that!" The kid had four arms and four eyes, and easily dwarfed the redhead. But she just glared at him.
"No kidding? I thought you were having a staring contest. Ya got enough limbs. Go get some more!" She added a short, high-pitched ear blast just to emphasize her point, causing most of the dining halls occupants to cringe. She turned and set the meat in front of the cat.
>Eww! He's got a cold!< Vibe made a face of disgust as the pale little boy began sneezing, and hid behind her legs. >Nasty!<
Amp grimaced as well, and handed the kid a napkin. "Ugh! C'mon squirt. Let's go find Office Barbie. Or this Abyss character." The sooner they could get rid of this kid, the better.

Calley
There were reasons Amp was the Wonderful Love of His Life. And one of them had just been set on the ground before him. He made the ham disappear in two seconds flat. Ah, but the taste would linger on his tongue... and in his heart. Seriously. He'd gained about three pounds since following his Isabel to the Sanctuary. For a little cat, that was a lot. His belly gurgled happily around the ham, and his arteries winced.
...Was the kid hidding from him? Heehee. Yes, he was--behind Grumpy's legs. Oh, the disdainful look on her face made him happy... the half-pint, he decided, was his new best friend.
"Ugh! C'mon squirt. Let's go find Office Barbie. Or this Abyss character." Abyss? Interesting. He wondered why they'd be looking for the big red mutant.
As they started walking again, Calley happily ran straight through Grumpy's legs to walk at the kid's side. He was purring again. If Grumpy paid attention to such things, she'd know that was a bad sign.
Matthew listened to the twin's words. The only one that could talk, or so she said. He began to ponder why that was. Was it an effect of her mutation, whatever, and if, it was. Perhaps it was a benefactor to her mutation, enhancing its ability? He stuck his hand in his pocket, twisting the marionette's strings in boredom as they walked, the floor echoing beneathe the four. He was still unsure wether the cat was human, it seemed to know the twins, and was very smart for a cat. Also friendly. It liked bacon, that was a similarity between the two, though it rare for Matthew to have ate any. He removed his hand, and allowed it to linger at his side. He felt way to small, despite the cat, and the thoughts of these costed him to shirk lower to the ground. His eyes were on the floor. He was lucky he hadn't ran into anything. He lifted his head sudden, and stuck out a hand with fast speed towards the cat, only to stop and pet it, slightly expecting to be punished, or something. As no negative effects occurred, he scratched behind the cats ear gingerly, before moving to the next one, and then moving under its chin.

Calley
It was interesting to watch the kid. His posture just kept getting worse and worse, like somehow his spine was being absorbed into the floor. Which, given that the kid was in all likelihood a mutant, wasn't exactly something that could be ruled out--but he was willing to wager that it had more to do with the kid's ill-used appearance. A happy home, this one had not come from. Calley decided (with a little internal sigh) not to pester the runt too badly. He'd just walk next to him. No flying-tackle-attacks like he'd done to Grumpy that first day they'd met.
The kid's head came up. And then, suddenly, there was a hand in his fur. Since it was obviously a great act of courage on the kid's part, he managed to contain his urge to dash behind the nearest potted plant. Gah! I didn't think he could move so fast!
He stopped walking as the kid got braver. Not an experienced petter, Calley evaluated, but a nice enough little fellow. Calley belatedly started up a nice rumbling purr, and tilted up his chin with a high energy twitch of his tail. That tickled! Pulling away seemed a little too mean, though--this kid looked like he badly needed a friend.
