The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

(OOC: Okay, this thread is similar to the Search Party in the Mansion. It is for any mutants at the Sanctuary who want to fight with the Stalkers and NYPD. Whether you get captured or not is your choice, anyone is free to post here. Same ideas apply; remember the Stalkers are formidable, and most likely you will be hurt by them.)
”Think we got enough stuff?”
>Hmmm.... I dunno. That tall guy on the right looks like he could carry a few more things.<
“Yeah, maybe. But why burn ‘em out now? I’m not maxed yet, so we can still make a few more trips.”
>That’s true. But I’m getting tired. My finger’s cramping.<
“Maybe you try it without the circling. You should be able to match the note.”
>Eh, I’ll try it later. C’mon, let’s head home.<
Amp nodded at her sister, and the pair kept moving on down the street. Four men of various heights, weights and dress codes followed behind them like puppies, all of them loaded down with various packages, boxes and bags. The twins had taken Kaz’s parting gift on a shopping spree, and very quickly decided that they didn’t want to carry the burden themselves. So they had ‘enlisted’ the men’s help, courtesy of Vibe’s newfound power.
They led their entourage to the golden doors of the Sanctuary, and inside. Office Barbie looked up as the train filed in, ready and willing with her recruitment speech. But Amp merely waved her aside.
”They won’t be staying long.”
The girls led them down to the mutant quarters, and to their room. Only once everything was not only unburdened, but also unpacked and placed where it needed to go, did the girls lead their followers back upstairs. The men were ushered out the door. Vibe stopped her ‘melody’. Amp grinned.
”Thanks for the help fellas. You’ve been lovely. Don’t call us, we’ll call you.” She shut the doors on the now-confused men with a loud Thud!!
Vibe walked over to one of the couches scattered about the foyer, fiddling with the watch they’d taken from Kitra earlier in the week.
>I wonder how this thing works? Think we can prank Hunter’s goon squad with it?<
“I dunno. Let me see.”
>No.< Vibe pulled out of her reach. >You always break my jewelry.<
“Do not.” Amp grumbled and flopped into a nearby chair. ”Looks gaudy on you anyway,” she muttered. Vibe merely stuck her tongue out and continued messing with the device. It tood her a few moments to figure out which button to push to change the time, then she moved on to seeing how the other buttons and modes worked.
Vibe’s fiddling with the watch had inadvertently activated it. Back at Mondragon labs someone was now listening in on the twins and tracking their location, which was soon identified as the Sanctuary. So long as the channel remained open someone would be listening.
Walking up the hallway Syn could hear two familiar voices. It was the twins Amp and Vibe. They sounded rather pleased about something but then they returned to sounding like typical siblings as they bickered about something.
Walking over to the ladies Syn watched them and could see them talking about and playing with a watch. It resembled a watch that Kaz had shown her a few days ago. "Find yourselves a new toy ladies? Or did Kaz forget something before leaving?"
(OOC: That's fine Mandain. And only one voice, Syn. )
"Find yourselves a new toy ladies? Or did Kaz forget something before leaving?"
>"Hey Syn,"< the pair chorused, though only one was audible. Amp snorted, and added, "Nah, just that watch we took from that girl with the sketchpad the other day. I'm trying to convince Vibe how guady it looks on her."
>Like it'll look better on you,< came the sarcastic reply. Vibe ceased her fiddling and slid the watch onto her arm, above the elbow, as it was much too big for her wrist. Amp rolled her eyes.
"Oh yeah, like that makes it look any better."
Vibe stuck her tongue out at her sister, then turned an angelic smile to Syn.
"She wants to know if there are any parties in the works?" Amp translated, stressing the word 'parties'. "Preferably the chaotic kind? It's been too quiet 'round here lately."
As usual, the expression 'Be careful what you wish for' was lost on the redheaded pair.
Sonya's second arrival at the gates of Sanctuary isn't quite as overwhelming as the first one was, but she still suspects it will be a while before she is used to all of this mutant activity.
The truth is, she was reluctant to return... Syn and Abyss didn't seem like nice people, mind-muddling hormones notwithstanding, and Sonya isn't entirely sure what she's getting herself into. On the other hand, the food was good and plentiful and free, which is more than she could really say for the rest of the city.
So... she's back. It had taken her a while to find the same guy at the gym, but she'd finally managed it; she's tried to hold on to this form for more than a couple of days, but with no success. Which is OK... it's not like she's going to spend more than a few hours here.
As she approaches the doors she finds herself faced by a small crowd of puzzled-looking muscular men, into which she fits reasonably well in her "Sonny" body, except they seem to be wandering off. So she simply walks in, to find Lisa and Syn and a pair of identical redheads she's never met before.
"Hi," she says with a wave. "What's with the party outside?"
(( OOC: Sonya's in a male body, the strongest/most athletic one she could find at the local gym, otherwise unremarkable.
Also, my plan is to have Sonya run the heck away from the raid and escape... possibly with some help. Sorry I've been so dithery on that. ))
The girls' attention shifted slightly as the foyer door opened, then completely when they saw who was walking in.
"Hel-lo, what have we here?" Amp stood up and moved beside her sister and Syn, giving the newcomer a head-to-toe once over.
Vibe was less subtle. She stood up and walked over to the tall man to get a closer look. She walked around him, making her own inspection. Then she paused by his side, arms crossed over her chest.
>I like,< she told her sister, an impish grin gracing her face.
"Hi. What's with the party outside?"
Amp took up a position on the guy's other side, hands on her hips, smirk matching her sister's. "Oh, nevermind them. They're just the moving men. So, what do they call you, Handsome?"
Sonya is just starting to get used to the effect of being around Syn in this body... at least, to the point where she's capable of paying attention to something other than the straps of her see-through shirt. But being tag-team hit on by the Redhead Twins is more than she was prepared for.
"I, um..." It takes her a few seconds to remember the (admittedly, stupid) name she'd given the last time she was here, but it finally comes to her. "Sonny... they call me Sonny." She keeps turning back and forth, trying to keep both of them and Syn in sight and succeeding only in giving herself a crick in his neck. She feels her cheeks growing warm and wants to slap herself for picking a testosterone-poisoned body... boys are so incredibly dumb sometimes!
"I, uh, was here before, but I didn't meet the two of you... so, um... Hi!" She puts out a hand in greeting and then hesitates, a little nervous about touching anyone in this building for fear of what might happen. But it would look too goofy to pull her hand back, not to mention making her look like a xenophobe again, so she doesn't.
Horus was weakened by the fact that Mandain had been in combat, Horus took it nice and slow making his way away from the mansion and trying to avoid the patrolling officers around the scene. As he was walking down a path into the woods and bushed he leaned to a tree, the body of Mandain was weakened, so a little rest was welcome. The rest Horus had hoped for didn't came as he saw searching lights coming from the bushes, hounds were barking and eager to pick up smells. Horus stood up again and strawled further. Reaching a car lane he was standing right in the middle of it. Two shiny lights came at Horus, "Heaven"? the sound of his words were smothered by the sound of the car's horn. The car only missed Horus with an inch or even less. He had no idea of where he was, he only knew he had to search for those golden doors, the Sanctuary. Walking down the street a car pulled over near Horus, "Need a ride son?" It was a farmer, the car was curved in mud and smelled like fertilizer. "Thank you, Golden doors"? The farmed nodded his head and let Horus in his car taking him for a ride. Not that the farmer knew where it was he just gave him a ride to the town "From here on out son, you gotta find your own way" He gave a wink and drove off. Horus hoped he would see somebody he recognized to take him to those Golden doors.
Before Syn could talk about any new party plans Sonny arrived back at Sanctuary. The twins seemed to go gah gah over him. It was rather fun to watch as Sonny seemed very to be overwhelmed at the moment. Sonny stuttered as he introduced himself.
"Sonny allow me to introduce Amp and her sister Vibe. They stay here in Sanctuary as well. You didn't meet them because they were probably busy." Syn gave the twins a look as if to hint to their mishief.
She then spoke to the twins about Sonny. "Sonny was here before as he seemed to be interested in staying here with us." Now Syn was directing herself to Sonny. "Have you decided to stay after all?"
(I think I’ll post Sara outside where Mandain is. I can rewrite this post if that is a problem.)
The blanket of darkness that fell at dusk had truly been a gift. Providing a few hours of easy hiding and travel before the feline mutant would have to face the light again. Flash lights and illuminated lamps were hard enough to dodge without making a sound. The sun on the other hand? That made it nearly impossible to hide near the city. Normally should would simply put on a long coat and hood to hide her feline face and tail but the last few days had been made more tricky.
Suspicion figures like that were being arrested and haled off to some registration thing. Sara’d been lucky enough to see one happen from above. Lucky for her, not noticed, unlucky for the mutant she had watched. Of course she didn’t fully comprehend what was going on. She just knew that she still didn’t want to let herself be seen, what with the crys of surprise and pointing she would no doubt endure,.. and had endured.
Her coat and hood would probably not do her any good anymore. So they had been abandoned, letting the golden blond hued fur be clearly seen. That is if she would allow anyone to see her.
Currently she was sitting in a tree, One arm pulled close around the stomach of her tank top, The other holding a heart shaped locket, connected to a chain around her neck. Her tail dangled below the branch she was perched on, twitching back and forth.
A car dropping someone off caught her attention. Curiosity perking up, she leaned forward on her branch. Freezing when she accidentally snapped a twig. The short sharp sound echoing off the other surrounding trees.
< "Sonny allow me to introduce Amp and her sister Vibe. They stay here in Sanctuary as well. You didn't meet them because they were probably busy."
Sonya nods, not quite sure what to say to that that won't annoy someone. Yeah, I'd kinda guessed that.
< "Have you decided to stay after all?"
And she's really not sure what to say to that.
On the one hand, Sanctuary folks had fed her and let her crash there before, and God knows it would be nice to have somewhere reliable to stay... she'd had to bail out of the apartment she was using when the woman who actually lived there came back from her trip this morning, and she hadn't yet found another landlord who would fall for the "I was mugged and lost my wallet and keys but you remember me, right?" con.
On the other hand, she can't shake the feeling that there's something not quite right about these people, something mean, something she'll regret becoming a part of.
Mostly, what she needs is more information. Calley was too shifty to trust, and Sara was as much a new arrival as Sonya, and Syn and Abyss seemed more likely to ask questions than answer them. But the redhead twins are something else again.
So she temporizes. "Well, it's not like I've got much of anywhere else to stay, right?" Which, admittedly, isn't an answer, but she's hoping it will take the place of one. Before Syn can follow it up with more questions, she turns back to Amp and continues in her best imitation of her ex-boyfriend trying to be charming: "So, tell me... what's it like living here?"
Seeing the car drive off Horus heard another sound, it wasn't coming from the car that drove away, it was more like a twig snapping. Horus didn't trust the situation since what happened to Mandain at the mansion. He raised his left hand to the upper corner of this right arm, letting his sword come out again. Looking around the place trying to find a shadow in this area, it was dark. Horus was still looking around and something caught his eye, a dark figure was hiding in the upper tree's. The question now was, was it an enemy or just somebody who was hiding. He raised his sword to the dark figure in the tree's, he could easily get that figure out of the tree by brute pain, but he didn't feel like it. "Interesting" Horus just stood there with his sword pointed at the figure waiting for its next move.
Sara was still froze for about a count of 10. Debating on weather he’d really seen her or not. The sword in particular catching her attention. The light reflecting off of the blade shining in the centers of her eyes.
Finally she decided to take a chance, leaning forward on the branch so that it dropped lower under the canopy. Letting the distant street lamps throw some light on her feline esque face. “Every other person I’ve seen on the street carries a gun not a sword.” She noted out loud.
"I, um... Sonny... they call me Sonny. I, uh, was here before, but I didn't meet the two of you... so, um... Hi!" He held out his hand in greeting.
Vibe smirked and rolled her eyes. >Who's 'they'? His grandparents?< Amp simply giggled. They were enjoying his overwhelmed look, and attempted to fuel it by ignoring his hand.
"Sonny allow me to introduce Amp and her sister Vibe." Each one waved and winked in turn. "They stay here in Sanctuary as well. You didn't meet them because they were probably busy."
"Oh yes. Very busy...." Amp smiled sweetly. Vibe snickered silently.
>Busy cleaning out a few department stores....<
"Sonny was here before as he seemed to be interested in staying here with us. Have you decided to stay after all?"
"Ooooh, you don't say? How nice." Amp's grin widened slightly; attractive guys were seriously lacking in the Sanctuary lately, at least in the Twins' opinion. 'Sonny' would be a welcome addition indeed.
"Well, it's not like I've got much of anywhere else to stay, right? So, tell me... what's it like living here?"
"Oh, it's tons of fun," Amp replied easily. "Free food, decent rooms, rec room and movie room. There's a gym with a pool and a hot tub," she put a bit of extra emphasis on those last two in a not-so-subtle hint, "all the necessities. Have you had the tour yet?" Yet another not-so-subtle hint. The Twins were never subtle....

Though he may work for Hunter now, he didn't forget friends, let alone seven hulking red ones. He would have liked to do this in person but, that wasn't a possibility with Nicki in danger, even if Hunter said she was 'safe'. Pulling out his phone he hit the speed dial for Abyss. After two rings he heard the line connect and a familiar voice answer with a simple "Hello".
"Hey Abyss. Remember those 'enforcers' the government was gonna use to get mutants to register? Well, they just hit the Xmansion. They're being caught left and right, some have scattered." He wasn't quite sure if that was true or not, but he figured there was nothing wrong in saying it, getting the seriousness of the situation across to the big man. "The mansion is known, and so is Sanctuary. I'll bet you anything they'll be headed there next. Just thought you'd like to know. Gotta go, Nicki's waitin'." With that Kaz hung up the phone and headed to pick up Nicki.
