The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Ty chuckled softly at her questions. "So you picked on me, but what happened after? We hung out, had a little fun with the beat cops and the mutant-haters. We got into trouble together, something I hadn't had in a long time. We opened up to each other, and I found that maybe we're not so different. For the most part, we understood where the other had been. For the first time in ages I knew I had a friend. And everything we went through only made that stronger. I saw beyond what everyone else saw."
He pulled her closer, snuggling into her a bit. "Besides, the day we met, maybe all I needed was a little light." Looking at her, he didn't make a move, he just gazed deeply into her eyes.
Tses look at Ty; really looked at him, not just glanced at him and then away like she usually did, and not glaring either, which was about the only time she maintained eye contact for very long with people. She looked at his eyes, his face, the shape of his jawline and the way his hair fell. She looked at him, taking in the features and really appreciating them. Oh, she always thought he was cute, but in a way, she kinda tended to see him more in the puppy-dog type light. He was an adorable pain in her ass, with reddish hair and a tendency to sulk when things didn't work out because Tses was such a jerk all the time. But then he was her boyfriend, and she could appreciate the little details. His eyes were blue and ice colored like hers, but they held so much more warmth and affection. She envied that. Envied him. Wished it were easier to show her feelings and convey her emotions. But she just felt, stuck.
She looked at him, and wanted to show how she felt, but then the fear rose back to the surface and she felt herself wanting to pull away. Letting someone near was terrifying, no matter how badly she wanted or needed it. Letting someone love her was like giving someone a gun, pointing it at her head, then saying "you can pull the trigger if you want to". Who's to say they wouldn't? Who's to say she wouldn't end up hurt and alone in the end? Who's to say things wouldn't work out, and they wouldn't stay together?
Her life would always be tied to the memories of him, and she could never put that behind her. She was a skinny little street kid with no one to care about, but no one to care about her. She wanted to change, she did, but when she let go, what would happen? She was clinging to a rope with no way of knowing how far around the ground was, and she was too tired of holding on and wanted to let go. But she knew, no matter how frightened she was of this, she couldn't fight him any more. So she didn't look away; she kept his gaze: a little bit afraid, but knowing she couldn't be alone any longer.
"I just hope in the end I'm the right type of light in your life."

Ty was taking Tses's features in just the same. Though where she saw warmth and affection in his, he could usually see more of a hardness in them. But right now, that was gone, and he saw what lay beneath. Sure, she was tough as nails, but beneath that he could see a fear of the unknown, and a longing to be loved, even if she didn't exactly know how to show it, herself. She would have argued him down about it any day of the week, but to him, she was beautiful. Her face, her eyes, the way her hair fell. Sure she was covered in scars, but that didn't matter to him. She was his, and as such, he was going to protect her, and be there for her.
"I don't know what right and wrong is, anymore," Ty admitted softly. "But you're the type of light I want. The one I need. To me, that is right..." he whispered. In a fluid motion, his arms wrapped around her in an embrace, pulling her closer to him. "If it's right to us, what gives anyone else the right to say it's wrong?"
Tses felt that old fear begin to rise with the seriousness of the situation. It wasn't a bad serious, but it was enough to get her pulse racing and make her thoughts scramble. She hated being close, she hated being kissed, but she liked it... she just felt so, awkward with it. She glanced away shyly, cheeks getting pink, and looked back at him out of the corner of her eye, fiddling with her long bangs. Then she was distracted because she realized she needed a haircut, and that seemed like something easier to think about than being kissed.
"I guess if you put it that way..." She said slowly. She was torn between feeling comforted and feeling nervous now, but didn't pull away. She had to learn to be braver with him.

Ty just held her, noticing as she looked away. Yep, he may have disappeared for a while, but one thing was still the same; her telltale sign of nervousness. At least she wasn't throwing things this time. He pulled away just a bit, enough where she could turn and look him in the eyes without having to fear their lips smacking together as soon as she turned her head.
"Hey....Tses?" he asked, suddenly more serious. Not the bad serious, the man just had something on his mind that he had to ask her. "You'd tell me if I tried something you weren't willing to or uncomfortable with, right? I don't want to make you feel like I'm forcing you to do anything, is all." He bit his lip, fidgeting with his own hair, then rubbing his chin. Holy crap he hadn't shaved in awhile...as noted from the fair bit of stubble his hand ran across.
Ty pulled away slightly, and Tses wondered momentarily if she upset him. She did have a bad habit of doing that when she didn't mean to, but as she looked back at him, she noticed the serious look in his face. It didn't seemed upset, more, concerned. She listened as she spoke, and slowly fiddled with the tiger in her hands. Then she got the courage to look him in the eyes, because she knew that was the only way he'd know she was serious as well. "I would, I just.... I don't have a clue what I'm doing, and I'm uncomfortable but I'm not I just." She gave a deep sigh, and set her name against the blanket.
"I'm nervous around you. I never had to deal with people, let alone deal with l....loving someone." She said, and looked back up at him, blinking shyly. She hated being all school girl like this, but it kinda took over her brain and was running things now.

Ty nodded as she spoke, understanding. "I see now. I'm new at this too, I've just been more or less the kind of person who counters fear or nervousness by just....tackling it, usually. Heh." He blushed slightly, remembering how for the past three weeks he hadn't tackled anything. But...that was different. Right?
"I'm not exactly an expert. I mean you're the first girl I ever kissed, too. Yep, that time that ended with a pop on the head and an oven mitt in my face? First time. " He flashed her a cheesy grin. "I guess the more you do it, the easier it gets." Ty shrugged, looking at her. Sure he gave up a few windows of opportunity there, but...maybe this would help ease her mind and make things easier for her. "And if you ever feel like it's too much or too far....just let me know and I'll back off." He smiled softly, reassuring her.
His words made her feel better, and although she was still pretty nervous, it was nicer than when he just went for it before and the kitchen ended up destroyed. She felt, respected, which was nice. She knew she was difficult to put up with, but the fact he tried anyway was comforting. She chuckled sheepishly at the memory. "Well, I don't cook, so I have to use my kitchen utensils for something..." She grinned, her little lopsided smirk. she pushed her hair out of her face, then back into it, uncertain how to leave it.
"And I don't think you have to worry about that... If you try something and I'm not comfortable with it, you'll know." Her eyes flashed with that little dangerous twinkle, and then she settled back into his arms, smiling more naturally. "But I'll try to say something first before just hitting you again..." She offered.

"True, and I'm sure I'll know," he said with a slight chuckle. "Deal. Though if you say something and I don't listen, that gives you every right to hit me. But don't worry, I'll listen." he nodded, then rubbed her back a little as she settled into his arms.
He looked at her, noticing how she'd fumbled with her hair. With a soft smile, he reached up and brushed it out of her face, tucking it behind her ear like he did his when it wouldn't cooperate. His taped left hand rested on her cheek as he caught himself gazing into her eyes.
Then, he leaned in and kissed her, but this time was different than the others. It lingered longer, and it had more emotion behind it. The love he felt for her, his regret of leaving her like he did and all the times he just didn't think he was good enough, and how happy he was to have her back were all conveyed in that one kiss.
Tses smiled for a moment, then her heart started to patter, and completely raced away when he pushed her hair behind her ear. It felt odd, almost like a tickle, but comforting in a way. She blushed slightly as their eyes met, and froze as he went to kiss her. But as he did, she relaxed a little, letting herself kiss him back. While she was nervous at first, her brain took over after a second, then she let it end, pulling back just slightly to look up at him, then back away.
"I suck at kissing... don't I?" She said nervously, and tried to resist burrowing under her covers, she just nested into his arms instead. "I'm not made for cuddly stuff... we should go blow something up instead..." She murmured, but then she closed her eyes and put her head on his shoulder, showing she was quite content if they didn't, at least for now.

Ty smiled, looking into her eyes, and he had to admit that was probably the best kiss they'd ever shared. Though he had to laugh at what she said afterwards. "I wouldn't know. I mean I don't have anyone to compare it with." Much better than Miles... "But I gotta admit I like it. If I didn't I wouldn't keep trying to get kisses out of you. Though it probably gets better as well as easier with time too."
Ty nuzzled into her as she nestled against him, sighing contentedly. After a moment, he looked at her. "You said something about blowing something up. That, I'm not quite capable of, buuuut it's getting dark out. If you wanted to cause some trouble or something....I wouldn't be against it." He winked. "Though if you just wanted to do this the rest of the night...I wouldn't be against that either." After a pause, he added. "...Or both."
Tses felt a little relieved by his response, but she still felt awkward and embarrassed. Sure, he said it would get better with time. Didn't mean she believed it right now. She settled back in his arms, then her ears perked up as he spoke again. Trouble? He'd let her cause trouble? She grinned up at him, some of the fear from earlier finally getting pushed past. "Both could be fun! But we should definitely do something fun! I just... I need to distract myself." Tses tried to act calm, but there was a subtle tremble as images from earlier went through her mind. She wanted to relax, and be comforted and all of that. But every-time she closed her eyes right now, she just saw darkness, and just felt trapped.
"I promised Jacob I would resist stealing, but that doesn't mean there aren't other things we can do. Vandalism, practical jokes.... all options." She smirked playfully. She felt more comfortable when they were just doing something dumb, anyway. Sure, it didn't give her the little chills a kiss did, but she felt more... her.

"Definitely both," Ty replied, donning that mischievous grin Tses was probably all to familiar with, even if she hadn't seen it in quite some time. "Yeah....as much as I love kissing and just cuddling with you....it lets my mind wander, and to be honest...." he let out a small sigh, looking at her, his face somewhat pained, though not from the scratch or the almost-faded black eye. This was an emotional pain; even though she forgave him, he still hadn't forgiven himself.
"I don't need that right now. I don't want it. I just wanna focus on my girlfriend. The last time we saw each other....it didn't end well. I feel like I owe you. And besides," the sly grin came back, eyes sparkling with his intentions, "Since we started dating, when was the last time we raised hell? Not because we had to, but because we wanted to? Not since we first met, I think. So I say we go have some fun, even if we did promise Jacob we wouldn't steal. Then after we've had our kicks, we can return here and I can continue your lessons on being all lovey-dovey and stuff." Ty winked, planting a soft peck on her cheek before taking off his hoodie and laying it on the couch. Then, he went to the kitchen and put on the jacket, grabbing the aviators.
"Hey, before we go..." He put on the aviators. "Shades?" Then he took them off. "Or no shades?" He didn't care that it was dark, the pickpocket really wanted to know what she thought of him in them. So wearing them in the dark wasn't a great idea, he could still ask right?
Tses was glad to see Ty's grin emerge. She hadn't seen it in forever, and it was refreshing. After all the fighting and arguing, it felt good to just talk about doing something dumb. She felt bad though when she saw the pain in his face. That was the one thing she didn't know how to deal with. Her own pain, whatever, she'd get over it. But seeing someone else hurt made her feel guilty, and that was an emotion she tended to avoid. How could she make him feel better when she still felt so broken inside? Maybe it would just take time; but time was one thing that always escaped her.
Tses never thought about growing up. She never thought about the future, and to be honest, it frightened her. To think of someday gave her a stomach ache, because most of the time she just assumed she wouldn't live until 'someday'. Heck, when she hijacked that car, there were several insults the kid gave her that pretty much added up to 'too dumb to live'. Maybe she was just too reckless to have a future. But she kept beating the odds, and with each new adventure she got closer to a 'someday'. What would it look like? Certainly Ty and her couldn't keep wandering around rooftops forever, could they? Could they keep being reckless? Could they live on the edge like this forever?
Well, they could try.
She gave a grin, and sat up straighter drawn in by the idea of some fun. "You know, I don't think we have done anything just because we wanted to in awhile. We cause trouble naturally, but it's nice to do it on purpose every once and awhile." She laughed, and then blushed at his last addition. She'd deal with that problem when they came to it. Her cheek stung warmly from the kiss, and she resisted rolling her eyes at him.
As he got ready, she shook her head as he put the shades on, and stood up, snatching the glasses from his hands and tossing them on the couch. 'Definitely no shades. You look like a stoner or something trying to wear those at night. Besides, I don't even see what the deal is. She flicked him on the nose and walked over, picking up her own leather jacket from the back of the kitchen chair where she'd left it. "I don't care if you wear shades, but don't do them just because of your eye. Had worse, seen worse, not a bit deal. Still look cute." The last bit slipped out before she could catch herself, and she quickly preoccupied herself looking for her boots.

Ty chuckled as she took his shades and threw them on the couch. "Actually they weren't to hide my eye. Well, not this time; I bought 'em last time I saw Butterfly, and I was asking whether I looked as cute with them as without." He stuck his tongue out at her, putting his tiger in his pocket, then taking the knife and cleaning the blade off and putting that in his jacket as well.
Ty'd thought about 'someday' before. He still had thoughts, dreams of what that day could or would be like. Unlike Tses, Ty figured he'd live to see it, but he figured the somedays he dreamed of would never come. The day when he could be more than a street punk with no more money than he could steal. The day when he could have a life, and a family...
Ty shook those thoughts out of his head.He was just going to enjoy it while he could; his mutation didn't let him see into the future, so it didn't matter. If he lived to see the day he saw his dreams come to life, then it would be amazing. If not, well....dead people don't care.
"So," he said, eyes twinkling once again. "Where to?"
