The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Regan watched the men enter the garage and look at the vehicles. She saw Jacob wince as she touched a few of the vehicles and it made her head tilt to the side a little. She wondered what was causing him the pain, but then figured he could probably feel the needs of the cars to be repaired and maintained. She saw the hint of frustration and she smiled, he was ready to tear these cars apart.
Snapping out of her thoughts at Mariuszâs question, she looked up at him and shook her head. âI donât know which one belongs to which person here, but I assume that they belong to the teachers and high school students here at the mansion if I were to take a guess.â She then turned back to look at Jacob and address his comment. âWell Iâm sure we can inform the admitting desk of your services, maybe if the students can be given some sort of deal they would be more likely to get their cars repaired. The students all live here and go to school for free, so unless they have jobs or rich parents, I canât see them being able to afford many repairs.â She shrugged her shoulders and looked at both men on the topic of flying. âFlying would be handy to have. I donât have a means of transportation myself, well unless you count my hands and feet. I run wherever I need to go, but then again, I donât go past the grounds much unless itâs into the cover of the woods.â She shrugged again and sighed softly.
Mariusz wandered among the cars. He was no expert on automobiles, but even he could tell that some of them had clearly seen better days. "Yes, I know not everyone can fly," the Czech man said, shrugging his shoulders. "I do not mean to play the part of the braggart. I merely mean to state that I know very little about cars because I have never had much of a need to use or understand them. Obviously, I am somewhat in the minority in this case." He wandered a bit more among the vehicles. Some were clearly nicer than others, and as he wandered he pondered since it was clear that Jacob was somewhat troubled by the state of some of the cars.
"Perhaps you could offer to teach a sort of after school club or something about vehicle maintenance and repair," Mariusz suggested, turning to face Jacob. "If you volunteered your time I would imagine that the school would foot the bill for the parts and the benefit to the student body and their vehicles would be readily apparent in some cases. Maybe you could also talk to someone that teaches art and co-plan some things with them for vehicle painting and decorating too." The Czech man shrugged again. "It is just a thought."
Jacob considered what she was saying, and pondered it for a little bit. He liked working on cars, but if he could teach people how to work on their own cars, perhaps he could manage to eliminate the need for him to stay here more often than not. After all, he did have a shop to run, and although he did have capable mechanics to run the place when he was gone, he was not about to try to outsource his own job to come teach here⌠but perhaps there was a better way⌠but first he would address the other issue that seemed to be arising.
âNot bragging at all, Mariusz. Never undervalue your abilities, mutant or not. I have a multitude of skills that came from pure able bodied training⌠and while I will not brag about them, I wonât hesitate to use them or talk about them if necessary. Bragging would entail that you considered yourself better than others due to your abilities⌠and I donât get that from you.â He finished, and then addressed them both, the idea in his mind coming to fruition.
âAlright, I think I know a way to make this work. I can start an internship class at my shop. They bring in their cars on whatever day we can coordinate, and I will teach them how to conduct repairs on their own vehicles. Then, if they learn enough and want to work there, they can, but they certainly will learn, and it wonât cost them anything but time⌠maybe I can talk to someone about giving a small bonus paycheck to whomever is teaching them that day for their time, but nothing too high and mighty.â

Regan stood silently and listened once again as the men spoke about the cars and the different ideas they were thinking about. She agreed with them both that the idea was a good one to have a program for the students to learn more about their cars and to do basic repairs themselves. âThatâs a good idea Mariusz, Iâm sure the students would love to have an auto shop program or club of some sort. Iâm sure the boys would like it the most.â she said with a giggle and rocked on her heels.
Looking to Jacob she placed a clawed finger on her lip and tapped it as she thought about it for a few minutes. Having all the resources of the shop would most likely be an even better idea and more convenient for Jacob as well. âThat sounds like a good plan as well, Iâm sure when you find the person in charge to talk to about the jet and the room, you could ask them about your program idea as well. I donât see it being flat out rejected since itâs a rather good idea.â
"I had not considered the need for tools and everything like that when making my suggestion," Mariusz said, beginning to circle back around towards the other two. "I also did not realize you had other people, besides Regan, that worked for you. Obviously, then, I would think that the logical place for some kind of after school program to be hosted. I imagine it would be easier to transport vehicles and people rather than all the tools necessary. Cars are not exactly simple machines," he remarked, making his way back to the group proper.
"If we have seen everything here there is to see, might I suggest continuing the tour," the Czech man asked, gesturing out through the open garage doors. "You said you wanted to show Jacob the greenhouses, did you not," he asked Regan, arching an eyebrow at her. "If you would care to lead the way again, Regan. I believe you are the resident expert on the greenhouse."
Jacob chuckled slightly at the mention that the students would enjoy the Shop Class. Truth was, he could probably teach lots of things, and he had, as an instructor for new Cadets hoping to become Officers at Westpoint. He did mostly combat training with them though, not a whole lot of the academics⌠he left that to the professors and such that knew what they were talking about. He hoped that he would get a little bit of creative freedom with it, but he still had yet to meet the person who he would need to talk to in order to make anything happen, so he would simply file the thought in his mind and let it simmer on the back burner.
Jacob swelled a little bit with pride as Talon began to mention his shop, simply because unlike a lot of people, he had made his dream a reality, and was making an awesome living doing something he loved to do anyway. âMy shop can easily host the class, and we have a plethora of tools, but I suppose that thought will have to wait.â Mariusz then mentioned the greenhouse, and while he had a tiny piece of him that didnât want to go, for fear that his very presence would kill her plants, he pushed that aside and smiled towards Regan. âBy all means⌠I promise not to touch anything, my black thumb might murder your plants.â

Listening some more as the men spoke about the after school club that could be done at the auto shop, Regan smiled and thought about how much fun the students would have learning about cars. She would also really look forward to seeing the kids at the shop, to help them feel comfortable around humans, and for humans to feel comfortable around them. The shop was sounding more and more like a safe place to be mutants, Jacob was quite the guy it would seem. She looked at him and gave him an admirable smile.
She turned her head to Mariusz as he talked about leaving the garage and heading to the greenhouse. She nodded and headed out of the door to the cold winter air. The breeze ruffled her fur and she smiled. Outdoors was her favorite place to be and it always showed on her face once she had stepped back outside. She giggled at Jacobâs comment and shook her head. âI doubt that you could do that just by touching one of the plants. They are pretty hardy if you just know how to take care of them.â She waited for the men to exit the garage and closed the door behind them.
OOC: Sorry for the shortness of this one. Not really sure where to go with it.
Mariusz exited the garage with the others. While they had been inside asking their questions and seeing the garage a chill wind from the north had picked up. It wasn't gusting especially hard, but it was enough to ruffle his feathers though he doubted it would be enough to bother Regan since it wasn't enough to bother him and he assumed her fur would be better at blocking out the cold than his feathers were, though he didn't honestly know if that was the case or not. Quietly, having reached a lull in his part of the conversation, Mariusz followed along in the direction of the greenhouse another of the places in the Mansion and its grounds that he had yet to visit.
Jacob chuckled a little bit at Reganâs comment. âI donât know⌠might be a side-effect to my mutation. Great with mechanics, horrible with plants.â It was purely a joke, and the grin he had on his face explained that he was just pulling her tail. Jacob then turned his head towards Mariusz who had been silent for a moment. âSo, you havenât really explored that much of the mansion, it seems. What have you been doing while you have been here?â Jacob didnât know anything about the X-Men, but then again, it wasnât neither public nor secret, kind of like his own shop. It was something there that wasnât hidden, but not really talked about much.
None the less, he was curious what a typical day here was like, what they did to earn their keep around the mansion. Regan was a gardener, of sorts, so he guessed that she kept the grounds tidy and the greenery, well⌠green⌠but he hadnât heard of what Mariusz did, aside fly around with a bow and arrow and try to peg people. He made a mental note to keep his upper peripheral vision on point when visiting this place, less he be descended on by the flying mutant.

Regan noticed that Mariusz was rather silent all of a sudden and she hoped that he was alright. She looked back at him and placed her clawed hand on his upper arm, offering him a warm smile. It was a small gesture and offered some comfort if he needed it, if not, it was still a kind act.
She lead the way to the greenhouse and laughed at Jacobâs little joke and just shook her head. âYou sure are funny Jacob. I think the plants will be just fine.â She rummaged around in her pockets for the keys and unlocked the door. Stepping in she turned on the lights and welcomed the men into the warmth of the greenhouse. Plants of all kinds were all around the greenhouse, local and exotic flowers were there as well as a larger box that held a vegetable garden. âCome on in guys, donât worry the plants and I wonât bite you.â She laughed and motioned them in.
"I have been exploring New York City and familiarizing myself with my new surroundings. America is, after all, not quite the same as the Czech Republic. There are considerably more people in this area of the world than there are in the area of my homeland where I grew up," Mariusz replied as he entered the greenhouse. "I have also not had reason to enter the garage or the greenhouse yet during my short stay here at the Mansion," he continued, shrugging his feathered shoulders.
As he entered the greenhouse he looked around, his golden-eyed gaze taking everything in at a glance, at least on the surface. He wandered among the plants in the greenhouse, occasionally pausing to bend and look at this or that flower. He wandered quietly for a few moments, careful to keep his wings tightly furled to avoid accidentally knocking a flower pot to the ground. "Regan, do you think it would be possible for you to grow edelweiss," he asked, looking back in her direction from across the greenhouse.
Jacob listened to Mariuszâs explanation, nodding, and understanding that what he was saying was likely something that he would have done as well if he was in the feathered mutantâs situation. He did wonder however, how âshortâ his stay at the mansion must have been to not have explored it, as that was something he had to do about a place he was in. He had to know the ins and outs of anyplace he was in, simply because of his mild paranoia and idle curiosity. But that was him, and it was a bit hard to tell, but it seemed that Mariusz was considerably younger than himself, and thus, didnât have the same priorities. To each their own.
The greenhouse, however, was nothing short of amazing⌠plants and flowers of all sorts were growing in abundance, and it was apparent that the amount of time and work that Regan was putting into the place was certainly showing. Jacob, if he had to compare it to something, would compare it to his own shop, or perhaps his car, in the level of care and effort that had gone into each individual plant. âThis is amazing, Regan.â A simple enough compliment, but he was so enraptured by the plants that he almost missed the bird based mutantâs question about edelweiss.
Regan giggled and beamed proudly as the men took in the abundance of plant life that she cared for. Mariusz quickly worked his way through the greenhouse and investigated the plants along the way. Jacob was standing fairly still and looked almost in awe.
Mariusz asked if Regan would be able to grow some edelweiss and she nodded. âI should be able to. I will need to get some soil that is rich in limestone and get some seeds. I wonât be able to mimic the altitude that they prefer, but Iâll sure give it a shot for you Mariusz.â She walked over to the workbench where she kept a notepad and scribbled down some notes as to what she was going to need to order so she could get the edelweiss growing as soon as possible.
She looked over at Jacob when he mentioned how he thought the greenhouse was amazing. âWhy thank you Jacob. Iâm glad you like it. If there are any specific plants here that you like, let me know and I will bring some of them to the shop for you.â
"Please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist you in the project," Mariusz said as he made his way back across the greenhouse in the direction of the group. "Of course, I do not know the first thing about growing edelweiss, but I would not think that the altitude would be a requirement so much as the correct kind of soil and that sort of thing," he said, as he rejoined the group over closer to where they had come into the greenhouse in the first place.
"I am not really sure where else we should go on our tour," Mariusz admitted, shrugging his feathered shoulders. "I am, of course, open to suggestions for places to go to continue."
Jacob listened a bit to what was being said about the specific type of plant that Mariusz was requesting, and noted that Regan seemed to be very knowledgeable in that regard. She knew about the plant, its preferred environment, and what it would need to grow properly and he compared that to his own ability about cars that was not mutation based. She asked about specific plants to bring to the shop, and he paused on that thought for a moment. He had been looking up the toughest, most hard-to-kill types of plants because he was so bad with them, but if she was going to become a regular at the shop, she could likely give the place a little needed flair and color.
âWell, honestly, the shop is a bit dull in the department of color. If you can find a plant that can give it a little bit of âzingâ, it would likely help a lot, but itâs got to be tough enough to handle clumsy customers⌠and faculty.â He thought about the one poor plant that had been knocked over by the toddle, the stem breaking in half and killing the plant almost instantly. He had tried to put it back together with tape, but it had failed miserably. He then turned towards the feathered mutant, who seemed ready to continue the tour, but was unsure where to continue, and he listened for what was sure to be an instant response for another place to go.
