The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Hearing Jacob’s offer to work at his shop made Regan stumble a step, but she caught herself and kept walking as if nothing had happened. He wanted her to help out in his shop and as the desk clerk up front? She wasn’t quite sure what to say. Sure she was knew her way around a computer and she was a pretty organized feline, but what would the costumers think of a tiger at the front desk? Finally gaining some courage she responded, “I suppose I could try to help out at your shop if you need it. I just don’t want to scare off potential business because you have a visible mutant, a particularly rather frightening one at that, running your front desk.” She wasn’t turning down the offer, a second job would be nice seeing as it was winter and she didn’t have much to do gardening wise right now. She just didn’t want to run Jacob’s business into the ground because of how she looked.
Once again she listened to the men talk about combat and chess, flicking her feline ears back to listen as they walked. The distance to the office was growing ever shorter as they were walking the quicker pace, but that was fine with her, it just meant they got to the desk faster to find out what they could actually show Jacob, and what they couldn’t show him. She doubted that if there were a jet and an amazing mechanical room in the mansion that they would be allowed to see it, let alone show it to someone who just walked in off the street, but she was sure they could show Jacob some of the other nice places in the mansion to give him at least a decent tour.
Mariusz shrugged his feathered shoulders at the words that most people did not think of hand-to-hand combat in terms of a chess match until they got a good instructor. He supposed that was true for anything that one wished to learn. The truly good instructors in any form of art often thought of it in terms that were different than how regular people or enthusiasts looked at that same thing. In part it was what generally made them experts and good instructors. Mariusz assumed that someone with training from a military that was as top notch as the one the Americans had would definitely view things a little bit differently and also be a good instructor.
As he was thinking on these things he paid attention to the conversation between Regan and Jacob regarding a job for her in his automotive shop. Mariusz was well aware tat such a job was not something he would particularly enjoy, so he remained silent on the subject rather than interjecting himself into it to seek a job for himself. As that was going on the trio of mutants reached the door that led to the admitting office and Mariusz stepped out just in front of Regan and snared the door handle, pulling it open. "After you," he said, gesturing that Jacob and Regan should proceed through the door and that he would hold it for them.
Jacob noticed Regan’s little stumble, and smirked slightly at the fact that he had caught the Tigress off guard to such an extent. She worried that her appearance would make things more difficult, and Jacob chuckled and shook his head. “Actually, on the other foot, I need someone like you specifically. I do a lot of work for Judges, Police Chiefs, and other higher echelon members of society. A little bit of diversity and your sparkling personality would brighten the place up quite a bit.” As well as show them big-headed bastards that Mutants are great in the workforce. The last part was pure thought, but for a long time he had been fighting the war against Mutant Discrimination through nothing more than talking to the right people. If you wanted things to change, it took time, and talking to the right people.
As they reached the door finally, he was ushered in by Mariusz, who had been silent for that little bit. He considered the young man’s history that he knew, and thought that it was likely that a politician’s son from overseas wouldn’t really care for a job as a mechanic. Regardless, he left it alone, and stepped to the side politely, allowing Regan to enter first, and followed directly behind her. “Thank you Sir.” he said to Mariusz as they entered and he got a good look around the main Reception office. It could be noted, however, that he moved almost instantly to a corner where his back was to the wall, no one able to sneak up behind him. But this was a mutant school, after all. For all he knew, there was some little mutant teenage girl who could walk through walls or something.

Regan couldn’t help but smiled a fanged grin at Jacob’s compliment, he thought that she would brighten up the place? That was one of the nicest things that anyone had ever said to her. She stopped at the office door and smiled up at Jacob. “Why thank you. I guess I should ask when do I start and what time should I be there? Oh and the dress code of course?” She was a little worried about it, but she would give it a shot. She would have to get directions to the shop, and find some woods that connected to the shop so she could run under the cover of the trees to avoid being out in the public view.
She smiled at Mariusz as he opened the door for the pair of them and gave him a nod in thanks. She gave Jacob a smile and brushed some of the vibrant red strands of hair out of her face as he let her enter the office first. She approached the desk clerk and smiled as she had been up at the office a lot lately. “Hi there, I was wondering if you could tell us what we can show our new friend Jacob here at the mansion? He is visiting and would like a tour of the facility, is that alright?”
(OOC: Either of you two are free to give the NPC's reply, if not I will in my next post)
Mariusz nodded to Jacob and Regan in turn as they passed through the door as he held it open. As each of them passed through he nodded to them to acknowledge their words and actions towards them. Once everyone was inside the feathered man stepped through the door and into the office as well. He would have gone to speak to the desk clerk to get the information that they needed, but Regan was already taking care of that job. Not wanting to be rude and butt in where he did not seem to be needed, Mariusz remained by the door and stepped to one side so anyone else that needed to enter could, leaning against the wall and remaining quiet while Regan handled the clerk.
Jacob hadn’t actually expected a response this quickly, but he wasn’t lying, the shop could certainly use her help. The more help he had, the more time he had to focus on the important things instead of handling everything himself like he often did. He would of course keep a good relationship with his regulars, but he definitely didn’t need to greet every single person. Besides, kids would love her personality… he just hoped none of them brought a laser pointer. The thought of her pouncing around the walls chasing a little red dot was amusing, but he hoped it wouldn’t hold true. Tempted to ask, he bit his tongue on that, and responded in kind. “0930 on Monday, as long as that works for you. And just wear something comfortable and tactful. We will discuss pay and hours when you get there.”
He then waited for Regan to finish her conversation with the in processing clerk. He slipped into his state of Zen, where he didn’t focus on any one thing in the room, but allowed his eyes to take in everything. He would remain like this for now, until they left or addressed him directly. No need to interject himself when he didn’t know what he was talking about.

Regan nodded at Jacob’s words. She was hoping her usual attire of tank tops and jeans was acceptable as she didn’t really have much else to wear right now and her corsets would definitely not be appropriate for work. “Ok, I can do that. I just have to remember to get directions from you before you leave.” She did respond quickly but that was because Regan was a people pleaser. She wanted to fit into the world somehow and this was possibly a stepping stone in that direction. It was a given she was nervous about it, this was the first time she was going to be among humans since she was a side show attraction back in Ireland. Hopefully this wouldn’t turn out to be the same sort of deal.
The clerk smiled at all of them and typed a bit on the computer to look up what was available for touring. She looked at the clock and then smiled as she spoke. “Well given the time of night I will say that the dorms are not a good place to be touring. The students will be either in bed or headed that way. You are free to show Jacob the kitchen, library, living room, anything on the grounds outside, and….” She tapped away on the computer some more before looking up. “That’s about it. Is there anything else I can help you with?”
Regan nodded and gave the woman a soft smile as she leaned in to whisper to her. “Do you know anything about a jet plane and an amazing mechanical room?”
The clerk’s face went slightly pale before she shook her head and responded. “Nope, sorry. You are free to tour the grounds. Is there anything else?”
Regan smiled and shook her head which caused her earrings to clink together. “Nope that’s everything, thanks for your time and help!”
Turning to the men she nodded and hoped they had heard what was allowed for touring. She looked at Mariusz first and then to Jacob. “So where do you gentlemen want to go first?”
Mariusz noted the response of the person behind the desk, and the way their face paled when Regan asked her question. He knew very well there was an impressive mechanical room in the Mansion, though how that room worked was well beyond the comprehension of the avian mutant. Still, if that was something that was not supposed to be mentioned then he would not mention it. If there was one thing you learned growing up in a home of diplomats it was how to master a straight poker face. He could certainly understand why such things might be off limits to outsiders, after the experience he had had in the Danger Room.
"Would it not make the most sense to start at the top of the Mansion then work our way down until we were back outside to the grounds," Mariusz asked, stepping away from the wall and ruffling the feathers on his wings a bit to get them to lay down straight once again. "There is not much to see up here, that I know of, beyond the offices and living space and maybe the odd classroom here and there."
Jacob instinctively fished out a card from his inside pocket, which of course would allow simple Google directions to be looked up with ease. He waited to give it to her though, as she was addressing the person in the office. Her expression was extremely easy to read… there was something here, but they weren’t allowed to talk about it. Or, for that matter, show it to outsiders. That was fine, everyone had their secrets, and this place was no different, the only thing that made it humorous was the fact that he already knew the secret, just wasn’t allowed to touch it. Perhaps he would come back on a different day, and see about talking to someone with a little rank on their collar. Certainly someone had the authority to authorize his admission to the hangar that was down here… he just had to figure out who.
She returned, and Jacob presented the card to Regan, giving her his contact information and address for his Shop. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it got the job done. Mariusz piped up then, and he wondered for a moment the weird rotation of the conversations. Dismissing the thought, he considered what they had said, and nodded in agreement. “Whatever is allowed and seems right to you two, I’m the guest and while I’m not exactly lost, I don’t want to lead either.” It was true, but his motives were a little more simplistic… he didn’t like people walking behind him. Made him nervous. Jacob waited until the door was closed and they were on their way before popping in the question at hand. “So who’s in charge? I can’t imagine a ‘Principle’ would manage this type of school.”

Regan smiled at Jacob and took his card with a small nod of her head and slipped it in her jeans pocket. She would check out the address later and figure out the best and safest route to get there. Hopefully there was enough wooded areas around that she could get to the shop without much open ground where she would be seen.
Looking up at Mariusz as he spoke she nodded. “That’s true, there really isn’t much to see up here that we are allowed to show, so I guess we can head back downstairs.” Regan’s ears perked up at Jacob’s question and she tilted her head to the side a little. “Hmm, you know I’m not sure to be honest. I haven’t met anyone who actually runs the mansion yet. Do you know Mariusz?” She asked looking up at the feathered mutant, she thought maybe he had run into someone more on the large and in charge scale of things around here, being a diplomat’s son and all.
"I suppose Maya might be someone we could ask our questions of," the feathered man said as they moved from the office back out into the Mansion proper. Truthfully, he wasn't altogether sure that Maya had anything to do with the school itself, but it stood to reason to him that she would probably know a thing or two about the Mansion and its operation since he assumed she had to be a member of the X-Men and the Czech mutant also knew that she would know about the Danger Room which made sense as she had been using it when he had run into her in the first place.
"I confess though, I would not know the first thing about where to find her at the present," he continued. "Regan, you have lived here in the Mansion a bit longer than I have. I think you would make a much better tour guide than I would. Perhaps we should start with the Mansion's garage since Jacob is a mechanic? He might be interested to see what vehicles the various residents have, especially since he might be in line to pick up a few new clients now that he has hired a Mansion resident to work in his shop."
Jacob listened to the Tigress, and his newest employee, as they continued to walk away from a source of information that he wished he could get. Still, he was a guest, and he didn’t interrogate people anymore, so there was no issue, he would act polite and move along with his two escorts until they completed the tour, and then he would leave, returning a different day in the hopes of meeting someone whom would be able to give permission for him to access those areas. His question didn’t get answered in full, but Mariusz seemed to at least have an inkling of an idea.
Maya. He would commit the name to memory for his return in a few days time, and hopefully he could find the young woman in question, and coax her to allow him access to that area. Still, the feathered mutant came up with a great alternative… the garage. He pushed his senses away from the jet and scanned, quickly finding where the assortment of vehicles were stationed, and noted that they were indeed heading that direction. He also fished out a card from the inside pocket of his jacket, and handed it to Mariusz. “Always could use a loyal customer. If anyone has any issues, let them know that I will make an exception to my ‘no house calls’ policy and come here to give them a hand.” And now he had an excuse to come back often… Jacob loved it when a plan came together.

Regan nodded at the two men and started to lead them off towards the garage. She shouldn’t believe how quickly she had agreed to work for Jacob, and was starting to wonder if it was such a good idea after all. But Regan was a helpful person and she always tried to help those who needed it, so she shoved back the thought and focused on the way to the garage.
They arrived at the door, and Regan opened it with her furry hand. Walking into the large expanse of the garage, it was filled with a variety of vehicles which she was sure Jacob would like. There were also a lot of tools and yard equipment stored around the area. “Well here’s the garage, what do you think?”
Mariusz accepted the business card from Jacob and, for the time being, tucked it into his quiver of arrows since he didn't have any readily available pockets on his current attire. "I do not actually have a car myself," the Czech man said, looking around the well lit garage and noticing several vehicles of various makes and models and in various states of age and repair. "I have never had much use for one since I can fly wherever I need to go, and the places I cannot fly to I have to reach by plane or train."
"I will be sure to pass on the message to those who have vehicles though," Mariusz said, walking a bit further into the garage. "I have not visited this area of the Mansion before today. Learning new things about this place all the time. Regan, do you know who all these belong to?"
Jacob walked within, and already he could tell that they had a few mechanically inclined individuals, but either they didn’t have time, or plain didn’t want to, help the other individuals. Some of the vehicles were definitely in need of some work… but this was a ‘school’… so all sorts of people were probably living here. The large man walked slowly, brushing his fingertips across a few of the cars gently, and he looked almost like he was in pain… he felt all the problems with each one, and while normally a mechanic would be smiling due to the money that he could make, the fact that they had fallen to such a state hurt him a little.
He wanted to get to work.
But he resisted… he didn’t have permission from the owners. Instead, he broke contact, and turned to address his two hosts… “It looks like you guys need me around more than I care to admit. And believe me, a LOT of people envy the ability to fly, even in this day and age.” Mutants were becoming more common, but the number of them who could fly were still very few and far between. He paused for a moment, pondering if Regan had indeed known the owners, and then another thought crossed his mind. “Regan… you may want these people to come in before their vehicles may or may not break down… some badly.”
