MRO is an intermediate to advanced writing level original character, original plot X-Men RPG. We've been open and active since October of 2005. Butterfly smiled, tears still running down her face. She liked that he would stay for a little while and that he promised to come back.
She sat on the couch with Ty and calmed down as he rubbed her back. "Okay." she said when he mentioned taking her by Sanctuary. "Ty, what was my dad like? Why didn't he want me?" Butterfly just wanted to understand why no one wanted to be around her, why no one ever seemed to care.

Ty sighed when she asked about his--her--their father. It was a subject he really didn't want to get on, but the least he could do was tell her, up front and honest, right?
"He was...distant. Like the older I got the less he had to do with me. Very stern, but at one time he would have done anything for me. You look to be about my age, so my only guess...maybe he cheated on Mom when I was really little...I don't know..." He paused, pondering this for a moment, and doing so made him even more bitter toward the man--if one would call Jonathan Fisher a man.
"When I was ten, Mom died in a car accident. Dad turned to alcohol, giving me regular beatings just for looking like Mom or just...because he felt like it. Then when I was eleven my Mom's sister took custody of me. Haven't seen him since." He sighed, looking at her with a soft glance. "I'm sorry...I know that's not what you wanna hear. I wish I could tell you something happy and how he was a great father, but...I can't. I'm sorry..."

Butterfly listened. Hearing that their father used to beat him and was a horrible man to him, made her sad. "I'm sorry to hear that about your Mom, Ty. What was she like?"
"My mom never really stayed around much. Most of the time I felt like I didn't even exist to her. I have good memories of when I was really little, but I guess I wasn't enough to keep her happy." she explained.
"At least now we have each other, right?" she said with a yawn, the more he rubbed her back the more she got sleepy. She was almost to the point of falling asleep.

"Mom, I will never forget. She was so caring, and I knew I meant the world to her. She was a stay-home Mom, and when I'd come home from school she'd always be there. When I felt bad, she sang me to sleep. I felt like nothing bad could happen as long as she was around..."
His voice cracked as a tear ran down his face. "But when I was ten, a semi-truck took her away from me. And I was never the same..." He closed his eyes, trying to relax. Trying to forget...

"She sounds really nice. I wish my Mom was like that." Butterfly said.
"What about your girlfriend? What's she like? How did you meet her? she asked in a quiet voice, just about to drift off. She hoped that Ty's girlfriend would like her. She didn't wanna cause any trouble between the two of them, but she did wanna be able to spend time with her brother now that she knew she had one. She drifted off to sleep thinking about this and waiting for Ty to respond.

"Tses? We met when I got chased by that chihuahua from earlier. She's great. A little volatile, sometimes but not impossible to break through to..." He smiled, thinking about her. Sure, things were liable to go to hell, but he loved the sweeter moments they had. "Things get rough, sure. But it's worth the good times every time"
As she drifted off, he did too. It wasn't a total loss on today, after all he found out he had a sister. And though she too seemed like she could be hard to deal with sometimes, he knew they'd both be better off if he stuck with her.
