The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Sam knew Sara long enough to know she wasn’t the biggest fan of his comment about the paw prints or any other feline jokes in situations like this but he was too irritated about the situation. She killed again and worse yet they were two prime suspects in a human trafficking ring and the police didn’t have very many other leads. The best news he had heard all day was that she owned the places that Donnie and Jack used. ‘Well easy to explain her prints they’re without incriminating her.’ Thought Sam to himself looking into the window as she continued to drive towards the sites.
During the drive she explained her side of the story and his initial frustrations with her seemed to die down only to resurface again. ”So let me get this straight? Donovan was killed by you three months ago, and Jack two by a reptilian mutant.” he nodded his head and took note of each as he said them, ”So right now the police and myself are chasing dead men.” that bit frustrated him again but he nodded his head slightly and continued to listen to what she had to say making note of all of it.
Opening the envelope Sam iced over the tips of his fingers and handled everything with care. It was all evidence even if Sara didn’t see it that way. While Sam was still her friend he was also involved with the police his job was to help them and he intended on doing that but if he could he’d leave Sara out of it as much as he could. The last thing he wanted was to cause some kind of hatred of him self from her. ”Samantha Higgins…” Sam said as he read her state ID and other information, before he could ask who she was Sara filled him in on that information.
If he wasn’t upset before he was now, ”PLUTO?” Sam was tempted to yell again at her but wasn’t instead he slammed his hand on the car door and let out a silent curse before taking a breath. ”Does anyone else know about this? I need to wrap my head around this whole situation, you know I hate being left in the dark.” the whole situation was none of his business he had to admit but when he found out some of his friends were involved with a police case he was trying to solve it was hard not to take it personally.
Looking over Samantha Higgins information Sam put it back in the envelope and placed it on the dashboard. ”What happened to the reptile guy?” Sam asked before adding, ”And Samantha, is she still alive? If so you think I can get in touch with her, the police will want to talk to her… you as well…” Sam said knowing she wouldn’t like the last part one bit.
Sam ranted at Sara about having chased a pair of dead men who were mane suspects and Sara felt like saying something sarcastic back but she held her tongue and only shot him a glare over her shoulder instead. Ok fine. Next time I wont tell you at all.
Sam took the envelope and Sara turned most of her attention back on the road again. Sara shot him another glare when he exclaimed about Pluto and her right ear flicked when he slammed his fist into the inside of her car door. "Give Pluto a break. Samantha would would have been trafficked as well if it wasn't for him." Sara said a little more defensively than she normally would have. Ok so she liked him as a friend. It wasn't that she like, liked him.... What was it with her and tall red muscled mutants? If she wasn't driving, she would have crossed her arms, but since she should be keeping her hands on the wheel she settled for thumping the tip if her tail against the seat.
"There were witnesses for Donovan's death." Sara admitted. My she had wound herself into a web. "No one witnessed the other one, and the last time that I saw the reptilian like mutant, he was making a tactical retreat without a tail."
Sara hung a right entering into a smaller road yet, but this one was facing the highway and in site the dirt path soon would lead back to a place that was more urban than rolling fields and cattle, but less populated than most of the city. "Last I knew, Samantha was still alive. She dropped her wallet in my apartment and I had tried to mail it back to her, but apparently she moved. College kids do that sometimes..." Right? Sara motioned to the envelope marked return to sender. "If you can find her, she would be willing to speak with the police. In fact I'd like to know that she is ok."
"I on the other hand. I don't talk to police." Sara shook her head and the car accelerated a touch. "And don't bring up the I'm talking to you and you work with the police because that's bull." Sara glanced down at the the odometer and eased her clawed foot up off of the gas. "Not even at the fires did I talk to the police. This cat does not talk to the police."

Looking out the window he could tell she was shooting him another glare, he didn’t need to look. There were still too many things about this situation that upset him. Too many factors that were just reveled and far too many that he didn’t know. He had to find this Samantha Higgins now, yell at Pluto next time he saw him and then try to keep Sara out from the polices radar. His patched eye itched under the black cloth like it normally did when he was irritated a tell that anyone who had known him long enough could have picked up on. ”Any way you can track the reptile guy or do you think the scent has gone cold?” Sam asked strategically not brining up the witnesses to the murder that she committed.
If she didn’t want to talk to the police he’d do the best he could with that, the best way to do that was get as much information as he could about the other guy and this Samantha Higgins. ”I made a promise to the commissioner when we decided to work togther that I’d do everything in my power to uphold the laws” Sam noticed how fast they were going now and kept his mouth shut some laws he focused less on than others. Murder was one of those he found extremely difficult to overlook.
”Yeah, you are talking to me and I am working with the police so by extension your helping them.” Sam knew that would upset her but he couldn’t hold his tongue any longer on a few things. ”I’ll keep you and Pluto out of the investigation, though they will want an official statement about who those warehouses belong to…” Sam said looking to her, ”You claim ignorance I’ll make sure that is the last thing you’ll have to do with the police.” Sam said. He knew she’d argue with him but he didn’t say any more on subject.
”How far is this place anyways?” Sam asked looking out the window noticing the dirt from the road being kicked up from the tires.
Sara shook her head as they road along. She eased up on the gas as they approached a row of warehouses. "The reptilian guy hasn't been in the city for months. His trail is cold and no one worth asking has seen him. Either he's gone or he's hiding very well."
”I made a promise to the commissioner when we decided to work togther that I’d do everything in my power to uphold the laws”
"Right." Sara agreed about some laws. What she did in the past was against the law. Her business was questionable to say the least, though also explainable. However the part of the law that she didn't trust was the fact that these laws were made up by people who had imprisoned her and whoever they could find in the registration camps five years ago. A lot had changed but at the same time, a policeman was still a policeman to Sara, weather they were in a guard uniform or not. Meanwhile Sam had gone on and Sara listened.
"We're here." Sara answered when Sam asked how far away the scene was. Absent mindedly Sara glanced at her rear view mirror. The road was empty so the practice of using a turn signal was pointless. Still she had mr. Uphold the law next to her so with a flick of her index finger the turn signal clicked twice before she took a right hand turn into the parking lot of the warehouses. The van came to a stop, Sara through it in park and flipped the ignition off. The buildings could, at best, be described as a handyman's special. Three buildings stood side by side by side. There was wood rot, holes in the roof of one. Obviously Sara had gotten the land for low cost because of the decrepit buildings. "Jack passed away in the warehouse on the right." Sara began. "He was meeting me here to make a payment for his unit's monthly costs. I was assessing what needed to be renovated and what could still be salvaged. The other mutant had dropped in from the hole in the ceiling and just as quickly, sliced open Jack's neck. Jack bleed out in less than a minute."

Well there was some ‘sorta’ good news from all of this if Sara couldn’t pick up on a trail of a mutant who she had come in contact with they were long gone. The only problem this meant that there was some reptilian mutant on the loose with at least one known kill under his belt. That didn’t sit right with Sam at all. He paused for a moment, ”When this is all said and done I might need you to describe the killer to me.” if he could get the basic description down they could get a B.O.L.O. out for this guy.
>>>> "We're here."
Slowly Sam got out of the car and listened to what Sara said about where Jack died and how. Taking a few steps closer to the building Sam hesitated for a second, ”I take it they are empty now?” Sam asked already activating his sixth sense feeling for an extra body heat beside his and Sara’s. She would have felt a chill up her spine if not the temperature drop normally he would have done it at a slower rate where it was difficult to notice but there were a lot of things with Sara he didn’t need to hide activating his mutation was just one of them.
”I’m about to call this location in.” Sam said looking over to Sara, ”They need to know that they are both dead and the sooner the better meaning we can track down who ever else is involved.” Sam pulled out his phone and called the dispatch line and made the call officers would be over within the half hour seeing as it was a pretty big case.
”Think you can show me around?” Sam asked meaning he wanted to see everything including a body if it was still here. ”You know if there is another scent you can pick up on? One that was involved with the other two?” Sam asked hoping she might be coaxed into helping him solve this case.
”When this is all said and done I might need you to describe the killer to me.”
Sara sighed to try to release some of the stress that she was feeling. She hated everything about this. Being found out. Especially by slick. The police... What had happened. She should have staid a thief. Things were so much simpler that way. She could control who got hurt and there was never anything like this. "I can do better than that. I can provide a picture."
Sara nodded when Sam asked her if the buildings were empty now. She wasn't about to leave a body laying around. Neither were her associates or her customers. Even though Sara had not finished renovating these buildings to prepare them for storage units, a few of her customers had learned to find their ways here to make their monthly payments. Sam started to activate one of his abilities, and Sara shivered in the light rain that had been insisting on keeping the air thick and moist but still refused to become a full blown thunderstorm.
”I’m about to call this location in. They need to know that they are both dead and the sooner the better meaning we can track down who ever else is involved.”
"And I'll be disappearing soon." Sara said. She was doing her best not to scoff. Sam was so much better to deal with than the police, but it didn't change Sara's view of things that much. "but I can show you around." Sara swung her door open, and angled herself out of the driver's seat. The cold that Sam was providing was only enough to make Sara cold, in the wet weather, but not so cold that her body couldn't deal with it even with her arms uncovered.
She began walking first to the main scene of the crime. The building with the hole in the roof. She strolled inside stopping just inside the door. There were things that Sara had clearly done since the fight. The floor of the building had been worked on. Sara had laid down fresh sement, but other things, like the walls were still a work in progress. The roof had since started to be taken down from the inside, careful to avoid the main supports. There were large piles of rotted wood in the center of the floor but if someone looked close enough, there were gouges in the wood where either Sara's claws had used as a hold, or something that made deeper wider cuts than hers had left marks. "I assumed you wanted to start with this one."

Sam tried to not act surprised Sara wouldn’t stay around after he called the police; he did a good job at it because he wasn’t really. Sam knew full well Sara and the police didn’t get along and her constantly verbalizing it didn’t help add to the non-existent surprise. ”Picture would be for the best, in focus I take it?” Sam asked curiously before turning his attention to the building Sara was leading him to.
Noticing the wet weather and his mutation were starting to provide frost and the occasional snowflake he decided to turn it down a bit but still left it could enough to see everything around him. He didn’t doubt that Sara would lead him into a trap but given who used the building before it was better to be prepared. ”This one will do just fine for the start.” Sam’s feet iced over along with his hands to make sure he didn’t contaminate and evidence.
Sam’s ice shoes clicked slightly as he walked in taking in the entire crime scene, a hole in the roof food on the floor with some kind of gouges, and then there was the rest of the place. It seemed in need of a lot of repair. Crouching down to the wood in the center of the floor Sam asked Sara, ”Take it these are yours?” Sam paused for a second then shook his head, ”Maybe not. The distance between the claws look a bit further apart than yours. Unless I’m wrong.” Sam said shrugging and lifting a little piece of wood with his icy fingers making sure to set it back down carefully where he found it.
Standing up Sam pointed to the roof, ”someone fall through or burst out?”
”Picture would be for the best, in focus I take it?”
Sara smirked. “You could say that.” Sara didn’t keep cameras around her properties, but when she saw someone, she had the talent to put their image down on paper. She’d always been a bit of an artist and it was normally for pleasure, or for a lack of something else to do. However she still remembered the lizard like mutant very clearly even though it had been months since she encountered him. “I’ll have an image for you by tomorrow morning.”
Once Sara led Sam to the building, she let him do his thing. Trailing behind him with her arms crossed. Mostly because she didn’t know what to do with her arms and letting them dangle felt…. Awkward… More awkward than it already felt. “Actually, the roof was already partially caved in. This was one of the buildings that I was trying to decide if it had to come down all of the way or not. The supports were alright but there is rot where the previous owners didn’t seal things correctly. However it seems that I should have gotten the hole place bulldozed from the beginning.”
”Take it these are yours?”
Sara shook her head and was about to correct Sam when he seemed to put the clues together himself. Sara held her foot out to show. Even with the digits on her feet stretched out the other set of claw marks were twice as wide as hers. “He had really big feet and claws….. But big feet.”
”someone fall through or burst out?”
“The lizard like mutant broke some of It in with him, when he came down, but the hole was already there.” Sara would have said more but a smell caught her attention and she found herself following it’s direction to the door way. Her eyes searching for anything that was out of place from the last time that she had been in. The smell was fresh, fresher than it should have been compared to the rest of the stale smells that resided there. It took her a moment but the smell lead her to a smaller side door, and she realized that there was something off about the way the door hung on it’s hinges.
