The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"Saphirus!" A sudden wince was drawn from him as he heard the disapproval in her voice already. "Watch your tongue!" Damnit, now he was in trouble! He stood there for as moment, unsure what to do...
This man had just blatantly told him he was planning on robbing them. "Now wait a minute.... Babe, you should go inside, I agree, but just a second ago this guy here openly admitted to wanting to rob this place... "He took a step toward the four armed monstrosity, pointing at him angrily. "Why the hell should I let you in my home?" He stood there for a moment, and looked the man up and down... Andrea was right... he had very little in the way of clothing... Maybe... Maybe he was poor.
Saph remembered the first time he stood in front of the mansion... Hell, he'd fallen in one of the pit traps as well... Part of him had been hoping to rob this place and head for the hills that day... The bigger part had been hoping to turn over a new leaf, and... well... He'd done just that. The mansion was made to help people like this four armed mutant before him, but only if they were actually trying to change, and learn. Abusing that system was not something the X-Man took lightly.
Turning over a new leaf had been the best decision of his life... Maybe this man deserved a chance too. "Dammit... I want to make this as clear as possible... You aren't stealing from this place. If I catch you trying... You're..." He leaned in so that Only he big man could hear him. "You're dead... Do you understand?" The man growled as he turned and gently guided Andrea inside, sure to stay in between her and the rather large mutant.
Monstrosity marvelled at the Mansion, he couldn't think what was inside. However he didn't want to go inside because he couldn't think what was inside. His paranoia was setting in, he didn't know these people and they wanted him to come in a give him clothes? How could they? It wasn't natural. You weren't supposed to offer strangers things. They could steal things, maybe James would steal something just to teach 'em a lesson.
It was then he was asked why he should be let into the Mansion. James didn't have an answer. They really shouldn't let him in but they seemed like they were going to anyway. It was then he was threatened by the little man again. Monstrosity couldn't steal from this place otherwise he'd be dead. Monstrosity slowly nodded unsure if he'd keep the verbal contract.
"I understand perfectly."
Monstrosity followed the man and green-woman that he still didn't know their names. He didn't ask names. They always seemed to ask for his name first. The Mansion was beautiful, there were probably mutants everywhere during day-light hours. There were probably mutants in the rooms. He wasn't planning on staying until then however. He'd probably be kicked out after they've done whatever they want to do with him.
"So what is it you want to do with me? You calling the cops?"
Her cheeks darkened once more, when Saph attempted to point her inside. "Saph..." He wasn't listening, though, as he was busy having a conversation with the...er.. other man. She didn't know what he was talking about when it came to anyone robbing anything, but she was sure that standing outside in the middle of the night. It just wouldn't do!
Thankfully, as she took a stepped closer to try and calm him down, he seemed to realize this himself. A small smile graced her lips, and she allowed herself to be steered back into the building via the closest door. She briefly worried about the mess she'd left out in the hallway, but forced herself to ignore it for now. She'd have plenty of time to clean it all up after their four armed guest had been situated. Taking the lead with determined steps, she was headed back into the kitchen, dusting stray twigs from her apron as she marched across the threshold.
"So what is it you want to do with me? You calling the cops?"
She barely caught the question, so dead set was she on getting the night back on track. "What? Heavens no! I do not think you have done anything requiring such an action." She nearly turned to smile at him, polite as ever, before reminding herself of his current state of dress. "Would you like anything to eat, um..." Oh, she didn't know his name yet.... That complicated things a bit, especially since she practically had to crane her neck to look him in the eye, and she was unwilling to settle her gaze anywhere lower.
"Oh... pardon me, I am Andrea... this is Saphirus." She angled a hand his way, staring pointedly at a wall as she worked up the courage to glance at the large male.
Maybe she'd make pancakes and eggs, or something, since Saphs sandwich was still sitting idly on a window sill off in the hall.
He got a bad feeling in his gut as he walked into his home; it was the sort of feeling one shouldn't feel when they walked into the place they lived... But for all he knew he was inviting in the demon that would burn this place down.
For once, he felt like he could empathize with Silver Streak, the man who say at the security desk almost three years ago and watched as he fell into trap after trap. He reminded himself the he must have seemed a lot like the big four armed man to the head of security; a strange, disheveled stranger sneaking in under the cover of night. In the end, though, he felt more like he should empathize with the large mutant behind him. He'd been in his shoes, if a little less bold... Any maybe a little more tactful.
"So what is it you want to do with me? You calling the cops?"
"If i were following my better judgment..." He muttered under his breath as Andrea answered, walking toward the kitchen... He was sure to keep his sixth sense trained on the big man, whose movements were easy to pick up; his bulk and inherent strength made most of his movements observable by his ability. That would include him snatching up the expensive silver candle sticks and china as they walked past the spaced out stands in the hallway toward the kitchen; an action he had certainly thought of performing when he had first entered this place.
Heh... it was odd... It was like he'd stepped into the past, though he was in a different man's skin... The would-be theif was a three year young Saphirus, Andrea was the sweet, welcoming woman, Jewel, and He... He was the angry security man... Streak.
He decided then and there he would try to be nice, and more observant than Streak was. "Look... You didn't know what this place was, but it's made for people like us... I was in your shoes once... I know it's hard. You don't need to steal from a place that will gladly give you everything you need and more, though... I warn you, though... This is not an opportunity you want to squander... It's the difference between changing your life for the better, and living on the streets for the rest of your life. Y'got it?" He looked back to the large man, and followed Andrea into the kitchen.
"Babe... do you think you could get one of Mammoth's shirts from the wash? We could prolly cut some extra holes in it..." He eyed the big guy for a moment, and nodded... He should fit in the big, hairy 12 year old's shirt just fine. Heck, he might even be swimming in it a little. "That should hold you over for now... Until then, have a seat... I have some questions I want to ask you... I'm sure you have some too..."
Monstrosity marched through the hall, listening intently. They weren't going to call the cops? That was atleast some good news. His eyes shifted to the expensive china and candle stick as he walked passed it, one of his lower hands reached out and picked it up as he walked by but his better judgement got to him and he put it back down shortly after. The girl whose name he'd just learned was Andrea introduced the two.
He thought about which name to give for a moment before deciding against giving his real name.
"I'm Monstrosity"
He spoke very much like it was a fact and not a chosen name, James said it as if his Mother has written it on his birth certificate.
Monstrosity listened to Saphirus talking and a small almost invisible smile appeared on Monstrosity's face. This place was going to change his life? He doubted it. It would take a miracle to make his life even bearable at times.
"If you think this place can change me..."
Monstrosity listened to the man and he took a seat, they were getting him a shirt? From a guy called Mammoth? It was a start. James tried to make himself comfortable on the seat, trying to position his arms so they didn't get in the way. This guy wanted to ask him a few questions. Bring it on.
What a terrible name! Andrea blinked a few times, struck silent, before she turned her confused blinking Saph's direction. A shirt... yes. Shirts were good. Especially in this case. "Very well, I shall return shortly."
Excusing herself, she headed off in search of the garment. Mammoth was a rather nice boy, if impossibly large. Saph has chosen well in regards to size and comfort. Finding the kids clothing, however, was going to be a challenge. He had a habit of leaving them in piles, under other piles, among other kids piles.
...What seemed like an agonized half an hour later, she came trudging back with a bundled white T-shirt cradled in her arms. It was big enough that she managed to trip on it one or twice when a corner got loose. Grumbling under her breath in Greek about how breakable vases were these days, and who people were silly for putting them in hallways on unsteady tables, she unfolded the large shirt as best she could and held it out for the four armed mutant to take.
...Which was hard, seeing as it was five times her size. "Here you go!"
With her flush dying down now that he would be properly clothed, she turned back to the matter at hand. Something to eat, drink, and figuring out what to call this new man other than Monstrosity. As she mosied on over to the counter, she cast glance over her shoulder at the two men seated at the table.
"Are pancakes allright?..." Fishing out a frying pan, she turned to grab a few coffee mugs, before pausing. A normal cup would work fine for Saph... but she was honestly worried that a small ceramic cup wouldn't stand a chance against Monstrosities grip. Lifting a hand, she shuffled along, muttering the labels on the cupboards until she found one specifically set aside for young mutants who didn't have a good grasp on their powers yet. Inside, she sifted through a small pile of special cups, plates, and bowls, until she found a sturdy metal mug.
"That name of yours..." She started, taking the cups over to the two men. "I do not suppose there is anything else I could call you?" It was clear that she was uneasy about it, as she'd avoided repeating his name back at him. Eyeing the four armed man, she set his mug down, then Saph's, before turning back to fetch some coffee to fill them with, and get a late-night breakfast started.
A grin formed on his face as he felt a large hand grasp a candle stick, and slowly place it back... Well, at least he was trying to contain the urge... Maybe he had a chance of making it here after all... Saphirus wasn't really all that surprised at the man's name... Mutants on the streets tended to ditch their birth names fairly early on... He was one such mutant, though he had earned a rather odd name in his time. Saphirus was most definitely not the name he was born with.
He sat at the same time Monstrosity did, eyeing him intently as Andrea disappeared. "So... Monstrosity... Were are you from?" It was a simple question... It was best to ease people into the more profound and nerve wracking questions with pleasant pecks at their life story. He would get into the man's motives soon...
They had some time before Andrea got back; he'd picked a student who was particularly messy, so he doubted she would find a shirt quickly. " Where do you live?"
He had a feeling he knew the answer to that question. Even fairly wealthy visible mutants had a hard time finding friendly housing in this city; it was likely he was homeless.
((We can most likely post a few back and forths before we get to Andy's return IC.))
Monstrosity eyed the older man as he sat, the way was he watching James put him on edge. He didn't like it. The way he was staring, like Saphirus wanted him to spontaneously combust. As Andrea disappeared Monstrosity couldn't help but feel a little disappointed, she was the only one of the two that actually tried to be kind and now he was left with Saphirus all alone.
It was then Saphirus asked his first question and James let out a sigh as he answered it. He wasn't even really sure if he could remember the street name any more but he could lead you to his old house if you asked him and he actually wanted to go back.
"I'm from....around here..."
Saphirus' second question was no better.
"I don't live anywhere. I stay places but I don't live."
Monstrosity watched the man and raised an eyebrow. This was clearly some sort of interview type scenario, an interview for what exactly James couldn't say but Saph had mentioned changing his life and he wanted to do that...Or atleast he wanted to get off the streets so that kind of changes his life right?

From around here... No place to live... It was damn familiar. Saph sat back in his chair, his arms crossed, eyes locked on the giant of a man. He let out a sigh as well, and scratched his head, running a hand down his face afterward. Yup. If it weren't for the fact they looked nothing at all alike, he might as well be looking in a mirror. Then again, it would have been a mirror from three years ago. Damn, he'd really changed a lot in three years.
"You're homeless, then... What do you do for food? Wait, you answered that already... You steal." He didn't say it in an accusatory fashion... hell, it was more empathetic than anything. "Look... What if I told you I've been where you are now? I've been homeless. I've been a thief. Hell, I even kidnapped a baby on accident once... Long story. But all that can change... This place. The place you came here hoping to rob? It will give you food, it'll give you a roof... but it's more than that... This place will give you a future."
He sat forward, placing his elbows on the table, and looking Monstrosity straight in the eye. The older man didn't seem quite as prickly as he had when Mo had first... introduced himself. "All you gotta do is be willing to change... An' I know it ain't easy, but I was nothing before I came here... I had nothing... No one... Three years later, I'm the happiest I've ever been. You can have the same..." He then sharpened up again, the soft look in his eyes turning into one that could practically cut. "But if you ain't willing to try... you might as well leave. These people are good, and I won't have them being scammed, or taken advantage of. You understand?"
He heard Andrea heading back down the hallway again, and his 'i will kill you' stare turned into a friendly smile once more. "You don't have to make a decision tonight. You can stay the night, and take your time with it. We have a guest room with an extra large bed..."
((Mo's go, and then Andy can jump right back in!))
Monstrosity listened to him intently. He was clearly a smart man, he was clearly a very protective man but Monstrosity couldn't help but laugh a little as Saphirus spoke. Monstrosity looked him in the eye showing no sign of taking the offer seriously.
"What are you a charity representative?"
What Monstrosity was trying to hide was the fact that this places sounded like some kind of heaven. Saphirus was even offering Monstrosity to stay the night in an extra large bed...How long had it been since he'd slept in a bed? Far too long for any normal person.
Monstrosity wasn't going to put the people in here in any sort of danger and he certainly wasn't going to scam them or anything, he wasn't like that, he had ethics...A very flexible line of ethics that allowed him to assault people for their stuff but ethic none the less.
"Okay...I'll stay for a little while...."
James listened and heard the sound of footsteps down the hall. It was probably the Saphirus' girl...Andrea! that was it. She seemed strange, like she had never been outside of this place. It was then a strange thought came into his head, What were the other people around here like? Not that Monstrosity cared at all. He could just up and leave whenever he wanted...It's not like anyone could stop him.
