The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Today was one of the few days that Emerald found herself in the mansion, let alone in the mansion in her wolf form. Ruby had convinced her older sister to stick around for a little while so she wouldn't be so lonely when Em went back to her place.
It was starting to get harder and harder to tell Ruby that she didn't exactly feel like she should be in the mansion anymore. The mansion was for mutants who needed to learn how to control their abilities better and kids that didn't have a place to go or stay. Emerald was niether of those things, not anymore so she felt a little out of place in the mansion.
The she-wolf was actually in her wolf form today, stalking the hallways with plans to go hunting later. She was also trying to keep herself updated with all the scents of the students so she would be able to track them down if need be. While she wasn't a mansion resident anymore that didn't mean she wanted anyone to get lost or something like that. Most of the students were used to the large, black wolf with heavy red fur stalking around the hallways and knew to stay out of her way. The young kids occasionally got Emerald to play but this was a chance for her to be on her own.
The Alpha's ears twitched a little when she head two unfamiliar voices down the hall and with two unfamiliar scents accompanying them, she figured she should go check it out. The mansion might have an open door policy but that didn't mean she liked it. Anyone could sneak into this place if they really wanted to. At least Emerald didn't mind playing guard wolf all that much.
The blue eyed wolf padded into the library behind them and simply let out a single bark. The bark being a little more scary than she intended it, but it would be enough to get the two newcomers attention.
Emerald Lupin could fully admit that she didn't know everything. She was a woman that knew a lot about fighting, nature and the human condition. Even hunting had it's place in her vocabulary, especially the best take down tactics of various prey beasts.
However, ask this girl about boys and the game changed. Out of all the people to ask, Emerald was probably the least likely to know various things about the opposite sex. Sure she had dated people, sure she had been in a few relationships at this point of her life. Problem was, the majority of them didn't end in the way she hoped. This meant that Emerald was out of her element.
It took her a little bit to think about Rebecca's question, really pondering this from the look on her face. Her tail thudded idly on the tree as soon as she got her answer.
"Well, I guess a guy I can fight besides if anything," Emerald replied simply. "Just someone who is on my level about things. It makes things easier because to me if you are looking for a guy he should be your hero and you should be his. Also, loyalty is a good quality, not that the poor guy can't look at other chicks but for gods sake he should be able to tell you if he is around another woman."
Emerald might not think so but she knew a little bit more about guys than she really thought. Especially what makes a good guy. With her bad experiences her past ones and the more recent ones Emerald was quite a wealth of knowledge about these things. The wolf woman answer's were usually honest and judging by her past experiences might be what Rebecca needed if she was going after guys.
"Also don't ever date a freaking psychic because they will screw you over, believe me, personal experience. Terrible idea," Emerald advised with a very serious look on her face. While she had been told that not all psychics are like that, every single one she had ever met was an intolerable jerk. So she might be a little biased there.
"I can tell ya my stories if you really want to hear about guys, but I'm likely gonna end up telling you what guy not to date because I certainly know now what counts as a good guy. As well as whats a bad guy." Emerald chuckled, a smile appearing on her face and a humored look in her blue eyes. Despite her bad experiences with guys in general, she didn't mind talking about most of them and if she was going to help someone out she was happy.
The X-men, now that was something Emerald almost forgot about. Even if she technically was one, Rebecca probably noticed the werwolf stayed away from them. Emerald leaned against a nearby tree, letting her upper body rest a little.
"Not really,"Emerald admitted, looking oddly okay with this whole thing. The redhead tucked a stray strand of hair behind her mauled ear, relaxing a little.
She looked over at her student for a brief moment, thinking about her mentioning the X-men. Considering the fact that she and this "New X-Team" hadn't exactly seen eye to eye, she figured another lesson was in order. After all, Rebecca was learning all of her skills from the "Rogue" of the group and she sort of hoped they didn't get on her for that bit. Especially not that pansy that was knocked out by a napkin holder..psh what sort of hero was that?
"If there is one thing I taught ya, I would like to hope it was the fact that ya may be part of a group but your own ideals come first. If you ever disagree with what they think is right, go with your gut, might piss some people off, but in the end you'll be happier. Just make sure what you're doing isn't hurting others you care deeply about or yourself.Your pack is the most important thing." Emerald told her young "apprentice".
It was a lesson everyone had to learn at some point in their life. Hell, Emerald was still learning it in a way. At least that last part.
Emerald reached over and grabbed the water bottle and took a short swig, figuring she should refuel herself a little bit. While she has some of the best stamina, she knew how important it was to keep herself hydrated.
"So what else did you want to talk about, believe it or not I'm not the most social person," Emerald laughed a little. "But seriously, talking to someone is nice for a change."
The wolf woman was being light hearted about this whole thing, but her eyes reflected conflicting emotions that were almost too quick to catch. A tiny bit of loneliness, sadness and resentment it seemed. The big bad wolf was a lot softer than people gave her credit for.
The Scarlet Mansion, a place of deep, dark suffering, the building itself was built on the backs of workers, workers that should have been building places to provide for their families or keep their loved ones safe rather than build a castle for a tyrant. Then again what choice did they have, this tyrant was one of the most powerful people in the country at the time of the bombing, when everything went to hell, and he came in and scraped up the pieces. He offered people houses, jobs and all they had to do was give everything to him, even their souls seemed to belong to this man.
It killed Emerald to even travel all the way out here, away from all the good people in haven, even if it was for the good of those people she still didn’t like coming out here. The trip through the desert was treacherous, even under the “escort” of her Sponsors armed guards it still made her feel nervous. Several nights of no sleep, really did get to a person and nights out in the desert with strange men that had who knows what mutant powers with nothing but a car door to protect you while you slept was not that reassuring.
This was why there were deep dark circles in Emerald’s Blue eyes by the time she drove the pickup truck over the castles draw bridge. Emerald gazed at the massive walls, the people toiling about their duties, ranging from normal duties to just ridiculous acts of cruelty. Emerald growled lowly to herself as she parked in her normal spot, amidst the formerly blooming dandelions. The mutant who had been growing them had died recently giving this place a far more decrypt and more sinister look as of late. Of course, it wouldn’t take long for her dear sponsor to find a new mutant. Even with it being this sinister age, he still managed to get all his resources, no matter what the costs.
To say that Emerald hated this place would be an understatement, everything here, everything that was going on, the tired faces of the workers haunting her as she walked by in her semi clean clothes which was just a pair of long pants, long sleeved shirt and boots, all in a dulled red color. She wished that their eyes showed envy but instead they showed a dopey blissful happiness.
As if they were happy that she was dressed in these clothes, most people would kill for clothes like hers. It felt like they had been hypnotized, which they might as well have been, this place had an effect on people, so many rooms, so much comfort, luxury and Turkish delights for one to indulge in. A lot of people found themselves lost in here and found they unable to escape the allure of this castle. Most people here had become Slaves to this man and he took far too much delight in pulling the strings in this fragile world and destroys the little things people had left.
Emerald slid into the room she was given every time she was here and removed her clothes, sliding into the"Proper"attire, A nice long green baby doll dress, for the dinner party she about to attend.
A freaking dinner party at a time like this, god, I hate this guy. Emerald groaned inwardly.
With her keen hearing Emerald heard some unsavory sounds coming from next door, she shook her head a little, the thought of doing anything like that in this place made bile rise to her throat.
She called this place the Scarlet Mansion, because she refused to call it what they called it. Even that seemed like a dirty word to her. Even looking at herself, looking so pretty and done up made her feel uncomfortable, like she was slowly getting drawn into this place’s allure. It also didn’t help that she hated dresses that certainly didn’t help her view of this place ethier and the fact she had to dress like this every time she came here just made her hate the man that gave Haven money even more.
Emerald placed her hair up into a bun and walked down the hallway, ignoring those who desperately tried to help her along the way. This entire place, all of this elegant furniture, fine bedrooms and just everything about it made her almost physically ill. People were dying out there, people were suffering and while Haven was doing more than fine, others were living in shambles of their former life and here this...this…monster was sitting there without any care for human life.
The Leader of Haven entered the dining room, gazing at the decent spread and then over at those who laid it out. Three women in French maid outfits with stupidly blissful looks on their faces, the werewolf scowled at them and watched as they all scurried away like frightened mice.
“Now Emerald, that wasn’t very lady-like,” Lawrence scolded, his brown eyes locking onto her blue ones. Lawrence was a very attractive man, just as attractive as he was all those years ago when Emerald first met him. Still tightly manicured brown hair pulled back in a ponytail, brown eyes and he still wore those thousand dollar suits as if he was the most important man in the world. His grins and looks to most of his staff were charming and absolutely melting. He was the definition of attractive with his chiseled chin.
His gazes to Emerald were different though, not as an object, like he viewed his other subjects, nor as a subordinate. He viewed Emerald in his eyes more as something that has yet to be conquered, yet to be corrupted and that frustrated him to no end.
Emerald let out a low snarl, bearing her teeth. “How many more people have you taken into this place?” Emerald demanded and slammed her hand on the table.
Lawrence seemed unphased, only arching his brow casually at the wolf girl in question. He lightly smiled and sat down, gesturing for her to do the same. Once he saw her sink down reluctantly he would answer her, rewarding her like any good owner would a dog. Just because he knew it would make her even more angry
“A few dozen, but they all came of their own free will, no enticement by me was necessary, “He explained, “They wanted better lives so I gave it to them”
“Better lives? You are making them your slaves and you don’t even have a mutant power to do that, these people still have free will, why the hell are you not sending them to Haven where we can take care of them?!” Emerald demanded, tail bristling with anger.
Lawrence shook his head at Emerald, his gaze even with her. “It’s because they don’t want to live in this harsh world that you live in, fighting to survive, having to actually work. No, they want to live here, with me, where I can give them anything they want, everything they want and anyone they want. All they have to do is to give me everything they are.”
Emerald bristled at this, but said nothing, because she knew it was true. Very few people wanted to live the reality that they were living in now. It was hard and the days were long, sometimes you didn’t even live to see the next day. If Emerald could bring to mind too many unhappy ends to happy story she had come across while she was desperately searching for survivors.
The two sat in silence for some time, Emerald silently chewed on her food. In truth, she knew Haven could survive on its own; the group had more than enough supplies and could make their own. However, alienating the one person that helped them start and supplied them things for so long would be a terrible idea and Emerald knew for a fact that Lawrence had more than enough money to wipe Haven and anything else for that matter off the face of the earth. He was a former Arms Dealer after all.
“We need more supplies, and I know you have them,” Emerald explained as she placed her fork down on her plate. “How many jobs will it take for me to get everything that was on the list I sent you?”
The silence enveloped the room again as Lawrence took a chance to chew his food fully and quietly. He drank in his red wine and looked at the young werewolf for a moment.
“3” He finally said, pleased at the wolf girl’s elated look.
“That was less that last time, at least I know you aren’t deliberately trying to keep me away from my people,” Emerald nodded, unable to fight the dread in the pit of her stomach despite the happiness that surged through her.
The rest of the meal was quite, with Lawrence not saying one word as Emerald left the table. She knew she wouldn’t be able to leave this place until morning; Lawrence wouldn’t have her traveling at night. He didn’t want to lose one of his best that way. The wolf girl returned to her room and fell asleep almost immediately, her lack of sleep finally taking a toll on her body. The next day, she cursed herself for sleeping so soundly in a place like this, this made her feel like she was going against everything she tried her best to represent, but she was just so tired, she couldn’t help it.
I got to get out of here, before I start thinking about staying Emerald thought, quickly sliding on her old, now washed clothes.
The she-wolf made sure to exit her room and the castle as quickly as possible, the back of her truck piled high with all sorts of supplies, some better quality this time than last. Emerald didn’t really question Lawrence’s motives as she slid her “errands” for him in the floorboards of her passenger’s side. The wolf girl was about to leave when She saw the man she had rather come to despise knock on her window with a gentle hand.
Once the window was rolled down, he spoke, his voice low and even, with his deceptively gentle tone.
“I would never try that Emerald, I merely wish for you to someday come to your sense and live with me here. You won’t be a servant or a slave; you would be a queen among mortal men. A true goddess, you know this correct? “He asked her, his voice coaxing her, attempting to pull at any urge she had to be taken care of or to be in the lap of luxury.
Lawrence should have known better.
“No thanks, besides, “Emerald paused, and quickly opened the door to the car, nearly taking out Lawerence if he hadn’t stepped back. “I’m pretty damn happy with my city. I love my people and they are all like family to me. If ya think for a second I’m gonna treat them like you like they are some damn slaves, you’ve got another thing coming. Have a nice day Lawrence; see ya when I get back with your packages.”
And with that Emerald speed off, back to Haven, Back home and as far away from that horrible place as possible. She would never give into that place. She didn’t care what they called that place, that wasn’t Paradise, far from it. That was a false paradise if anything and she would be dammed if she fell for it’s tricks. Haven was the place she was going to stay and even if it wasn’t Paradise, she was going to stay there until they had to pry her dead body away from her mattress.
“I’m coming home everyone, don’t worry, I will never leave for that place,” Emerald vowed, as she speed toward home, to where she could protect people she loved without Lawrence’s influence. To her, that was the closest to paradise she could get.
Just as the Minotaur’s massive hammer took its swing downward, the Minotaur would find himself striking nothing but air where the wolf girl once was. The massive hammer struck the ground and the creature roared in rage, and he turned only to see the wolf girl’s leg that swept his legs out from under him.
Emerald grinned as the mad bull plummeted to the ground, the sheer force of her leg swipe disorienting him for the time being. The creature crashed on the ground, creating a resounding boom that echoed throughout he age. Emerald couldn’t hear the incessant roar of the mob-like crowd, as all she heard was that wonderful boom and the crunch of the floor beneath the monstrous mammoth.
Her adrenaline was running high and Emerald let out a resounding snarl, her eyes taking on the appearance of a wolf’s eyes. The she-wolf felt her body singing, crying out for more action, more combat.
The beast wanted to feed on the violence, to relish in the feelings that a fight gave her. The Alpha let out a contented sigh, her hands suddenly shifting into the massive pair of arms from her werewolf form, claws and all. They were easily several sizes above the normal human arms, capable of grasping a normal man around the waist and able to throw him with the sheer size of the black furred covered arms. There were so many feelings going through her, she knew she couldn’t hold back the beast anymore, but this battle wouldn’t last longer than five minutes so she wasn’t too worried.
As the Minotaur got up Emerald bolted towards him, but those two massive arms with the clawed hands attached to them right behind her. The she-wolf let out another snarl and sliced straight across The Minotaur’s chest with those massive claws. The Minotaur let out a bellow of pain, with his hammer from before lying to its side the creature struck out at Emerald. He struck her with an open palm swatting her aside as easily as a fly.
The wolf girl bounced across the cold floor, letting out a startled yelp in the process. Somehow, she managed to land on all fours, breathing heavily as she kept herself steady. Nothing was broken, but she certainly was bruised, Emerald would have likely have to ice it as soon as she was done here so she wouldn’t remain purple for the rest of the week. With that said, Emerald wasn’t in pain, she was angry; a horrible feral noise erupted from her throat. She rose from the ground without any struggle and charged straight at the bull man as he charged for her again, the scent of sweat and blood was strong in nose. The look on her face was probably terrifying if the gasps from the mob could be consulted.
Emerald didn’t care as she wanted to fight, she wanted to maul, but this guy was too big. If she hadn’t fought guys twice as big as he was she would have been beaten by now. Size tended to intimidate inexperienced fighters but Emerald was far from inexperienced, and this guy was cake. she-wolf dodged the first and second hammer swings with relative ease just as she jumped up onto the creature, her teeth that were getting larger by the second clamping down on his brown furred stomach skin. Emerald’s large claws dug squarely into his chest, clawing at him furiously.
A distinctive human-like cry escaped the bull-man’s throat; horrified at the damage he was taking in what should have been an easy battle. The bull felt blood flowing out of him far faster than it should have been and that was when he realized the crazed wolf was tearing into him like he was something she was planning on taking down for a hunt. He dropped his hammers and frantically tried to pry the werewolf off but only found her tearing at her flesh speed up.
Emerald made quick work of the ull man, holding on for dear life every time he tried to pry her off. He did succeed in dislocating her left shoulder, causing her arm useless from her body. The she-wolf knew that this wouldn’t go that well for that much longer, and the dislocation of her shoulder did hurt like a song of a bitch. Emerald had about two minutes left, and she wasn’t planning to waste any of it.
With what could be described as pure adrenaline and rage coursing through her body, burning through her veins Emerald clawed her way up the massive man with one hand, using her legs to push her way up and somehow managed to get up to the Minotaur's face.
“Goodnight Sweet Prince,” Emerald smiled before her massive fangs, which barely fit into her human mouth anymore, clamped down onto the bull massive bull’s face. Emerald wrapped her legs which were progressively getting longer around the ull-man’s upper torso and detached her hand from his chest.
The Alpha Female took this chance to break off half of the ull-man’s horn causing no doubt more pain for the already beaten bull and struck him with his own horn as much as she could as she released the grip her legs held, falling haphazardly to the ground. he Minotaur, with all his massive weight, fell through the cage and into the audience. uckily all who were in the bleachers fled the scene before anyone could get hurt, other than the massive creature that fell.
The Minotaur lay upon the ground in a pool of his own blood not dead, not yet, but he was bleeding out pretty fast. The age was still with him, despite the fact that he was laying on top of the barbed wire covered chain link fence. Emerald walked up to the fallen body of the beast, staggering a little as the adrenaline wore off, and with only about a minute was left the redhead still had to let out the rest of this rage before she full transformed and endangered the people in the audience.
“You wanted a bloodbath?!” Emerald yelled, her long red hair caked with blood, with an absolutely feral gleam in her eyes. “WELL YOU GOT ONE!”
With that final declaration Emerald let out a haunting howl of triumph, the sound of a victorious battle echoed throughout the underground arena. It was the sound of triumph, the sound of blood lust, finally quenched and the beast released but not fully dominating its host’s soul.
Suddenly, the audience erupted in sound, it sounded and looked like hundreds of people shouting loud things, ranging from obscenities to praises for the fighter who defeated him.
The words chanted in the crowd were at first low and ominous but then grew to a resounding war-like chant. It was invigorating and also absolutely terrifying, as it would seem at the crowd gave into the blood-lust they must have just seen before them.
“BEAST! BEAST! BEAST! BEAST! BEAST!” The crowd roared, stomping their feet in synchronization to the words chanted.
The crowd was ravenous; all of the bystanders in this large stadium were practically salivating over a new combatant fighting one of their greatest champions.
The Five’s champions always brought out huge shows when they were announced but with this sudden development of an upstart newcomer challenging one of The Five’s champions was a big deal. The crowd was chanting various things, so many different things in fact that they all became muddled together after some time. Even with keen hearing the Lupine female found herself blocking out what the mob like crowd was chanting, too many words were conflicting with each other’s leaving them as distant background noise as she walked into the ring.
It was very large for such a covert underground operation; the tattered concrete beneath her feet was very dry thanks to the cleanup crew that would take care of it after the fights. The previous match’s stench was still in the air, hanging like a toxic cloud over the werewolf. The two combatants that were in the cage last fought viciously with one another and one nearly lost their life judging by the lingering smell of the complete and total loss of control of bodily functions The werewolf would wrinkle her nose in distaste at such a putrid smell but it did not cause her to lose her lunch like it did so many others outside of the ring. That was also a lovely smell, the contents of someone’s stomach.
The Alpha Female would roll her eyes at the weak-stomached people that were watching this. They acted as if they hadn’t ever smelt the smell of death before, this was the sort of thing they were into wasn’t it? Watching others brutalize each other to the point of death or unconsciousness, that was how they got their jollies or entertainment. Why should they be so disgusted at something they came to watch? Emerald really didn’t understand other people sometimes, which might be the reason why she was a lone wolf for such a long time.
Blue eyes gazed outward at the arena, glancing around at the chain linked fence, barb wire covered dome that walled the two competitors in. Once she was inside the cage through the side door, she heard it shut behind her with an audible clang. It was here that she met her opponent, The Minotaur.
He was a normal man once, until one fateful night that his anger got the better of him causing him to mutate and show his powers for the first time. The bull-like man towered over Emerald, his horns nearly reaching the top of The Cage. He was covered in thick brown fur, shaggy, yet groomed, his chains that covered his chest looked clean and his loincloth looked fairly well laundered. It would seem that the members of the Five wanted to keep their precious champions looking good in order to appeal to the masses. After all, if The Minotaur walked out on the streets covered in some guys entrails, people would likely take notice. In his hands, he carried two massive spiked hammers, making him even more deadly than he was in the previous fight he was in. He let out a massive roar with his bovine head, stepping forward into the ring, glaring at the wolf girl with his glowing yellow eyes.
A voice suddenly blared over the microphone set up throughout The Cage and 6 large televisions lit up vibrantly above it, showing the silhouetted figures of 6 men instead of five. The crowd stirred wondering if it was some sort of joke, the two fighters on the other hand just looked anxiously at one, Emerald wanted to start this fight as soon as possible but those Idiots from The Five, now Six, were not letting them, a large chain grate sliding upwards between the two combatants, electrified so if they disobeyed they would be shocked. Emerald didn’t like these sorts of tactics in order to get someone to listen to them, these men must be compensating for something.
“Loyal Visitors, are you ready to see the Minotaur tear into our newest challenger?” The lowest ranking member of The Five Asked, his shadow gesturing to the combatants. The crowd went while, hooting and hollering, throwing things at the cage only to have them bounce harmlessly off. They were like a crowd of monkeys demanding a banana and that, Emerald found slightly amusing. “Well then let’s start the bets.”
It was at this point Emerald just stopped listening as did the crowd and The Minotaur himself. All of the members of the Five were betting ludicrous sums on The Minotaur, as they always did, none of them wanted to show disfavor to the other nor did they think that this Beast, stood a chance against this monster of a man. Sure, she looked strong, but what damage could she possibly do really? The bets went on as usual all the way up until they got to their newest member, who did not speak at first.
“Come on Lawrence, soon The Five is going to become The Six thanks to you and your generous donations, now make your bet!” The announcer said to the shaded man on the sixth TV screen, which looked to be sitting in the chair, his hand resting on his cheek.
A deathly silence followed before Lawrence finally spoke up. “Seven hundred Million Dollars,” He began, causing the crowd to go dead silent, he had bet the most out of all of the members and of course no one expected him to, being so new in the fray.
“Alright that’s seven hundred million dollars on The Minotaur,” The announcer began “Now lets-“
“Wait, I never said who I was placing my bet on did I?” Lawrence’s smooth voice practically purred out. “I’m betting on The Beast, not The Minotaur.”
At first the crowd was placed in a stunned silence, including the Beast herself who looked over at that 6th screen with a baffled look on her face. The man on the screen gave her a small wave, a low chuckle.
“Let’s have a good show, hm?” He asked, causing a shiver to run down Emerald’s spine. She didn’t like that tone he took, he was talking way to confident for someone who might have just spent all of his earnings on just a fight with her and some big, idiot, Minotaur.
Not only that, but his voice sounded too…smooth, seductive for one of these big time criminals. Most of them sound rough or at least like some sort of gangsters, this guy sounded like he just got out of finishing school.
Oh well, might as well flatter the guy before I show him I’m worth every penny. Emerald smirked
“I’m Glad someone has faith in me, Emerald called out to him, laughing a little as she gave a mock bow. Besides, at least someone didn’t bet on that creature.
Speaking of that creature, before Emerald knew it the fight had already begun and that Minotaur was charging straight towards her.
That’s what this place was called; it was the gathering of some of the scourges of the New York City’s Underworld. At one time it was, it was a gladiatorial like an arena only meant for those poor souls forced into it, but now, that had been outlawed for all Emerald knew and it had become more of proving ground. Some of the most dangerous individuals spent their time and money here, making deals and bets on the fights that occurred beneath the cities surface. A lot of money could be made here if you knew fighting well enough or if you had enough blind faith in your “pick” of the litter.
This wasn’t what Emerald was here for, she wanted to fight and she didn’t care about who bet on her. The entrance to the Cage was within an alleyway, a staircase lead downwards beneath the fairly bustling apartment building overhead. Not many civilians came on this side of town because crime wise, it was by far the worse in the city, only a fool would come here unarmed. The wolf girl on the other hand, was far from being a fool, she easily avoided any confrontation on the way their simply by detecting the scents of certain people. For her this was child’s play and soon she found herself at the staircase then within the cage itself.
The area was lit up by a good deal of lights and for being an underground arena for fight and an area for deal making it was well furnished, posh carpeting, fancy chairs, everything a mob boss would want. Speaking that, mob bosses seemed to lurk around here and those suited thugs gave Emerald a strange look as she walked in the door, staring at her lack luster combat boots, tight fitting shirt and tight fitting worn out jeans. Emerald really wasn’t surprised though, most of the women here were either lady criminals themselves or just arm candy for the men, at least in this part of the cage.
The place used to be a lot junkier and a smell of mildew used to soak the air, but once the big time gangsters got involved with this place, everything changed. Those that fought were given top notch treatment from healers or doctors, If only because of the fact that the bosses didn’t want them to be too damaged, after all this was far more entertaining to them then horse racing would ever be.
The wolf girl would grumble a little beneath her breath, making her way to one of the wooden doors that lead to the arena’s sidelines, at least there she could relax a little more.
In the second part of the cage, it was clear that the people were a little less then savory, while the posh bosses got their own beautiful entrance and side room to match, most had to find their ways in otherwise and the usual entrance for the “scum” of New York was less than flattering. Why Emerald didn’t take this route, to be more stealthily, was mainly because she didn’t care for class differences, that and she wanted to make some sort of entrance for those old fools.
There were people of all kinds here, dealers, users, all sorts of people that were just messed up and other than those expensive boxes far above the ring that carried so many of the upper class, these seats seemed to be better and they were right up close to the arena.
Speaking of that, the arena itself was a site to see, a large circular arena, surrounded by chain linked fences that were intertwined with dangerous looking barbed wire. Those that were in the front seats surrounded the edges of the cave, looking excitedly at the fight that was going on below them. Emerald didn’t take any mind to the fight going on below her though, this fight was just the opening matches, fights to see if those who won were good enough to survive against the top guns, what she needed was to fight something far worse than some smuck who came off the street needing a quick buck for his fix, she needed to fight a warrior.
The werewolf would go up to the entry box, a small booth with a tired looking man sitting at it. In front of him were all sorts of electrical equipment that he used to broadcast the victors and the next fight over an intercom system. He also took in the bets and the entries for the next fighters.
“Hey, what the hell do you want, can’t ya see the fights already going on? No more entries for the rookie matches.” The man grumbled irritably, cigar hanging out of the side of his mouth. His weathered eyes surveyed the werewolf. “If ya want to see some of the boys though, I can get you a real good spot.”
Emerald fought a grimace, her lips curling back in a fake smile. “ That won’t be necessary, I’m here to fight, but I want to fight one of The Five.” Emerald told him, watching the shocked expression crawl across the man’s face.
The Five were a group of fighters; practically breed to do damage, the higher played betters and sponsors helped recruit/find these combatants and supported them for destroying everything in their path. No one had beaten any of them since they had been crowned champions of the ring. People tried, but they usually left the ring on a stretcher. These fighters just had better resources and better training then most of these street punks got in a lifetime. So the fact that an upstart wanted to challenge one on the first try, was sort of a big deal.
“What...AHAHAHHAHAA” The ma n roared in laughter, early chewing off the end of his cigar as he did so. “You have to be playing me, runt! There is no way you would last five minutes in the ring with one of them!”
“That a challenge old man? Bet ya I could down any of them within about 20 minutes so, maybe less depending on how stupid they are.”
Now this man, this man that worked at the booth was in charge of not only the bets, announcements and entries, he was also in charge of The Five themselves, in a more promotional way that is. Someone challenging them in such a reckless sort of way, in a hostile sort of way was not only an insult to them, but an insult to him. His face flushed red and he would glare at the young woman that stood before him.
“You fight The Minotaur, no stops, cage match, he won’t hold back and I’ll make sure he tears you to pieces.”
Emerald let out a hearty chuckle, turning around to walk to the Entrance of the arena, waiting for the previous fighters to get done with their match.
“HEY!” The angry bet taker called after her. “What the hell do I call you?”
Emerald turned towards him, grinning at him with a mouth full of sharp lupine teeth, eyes glittering with a feral excitement that could not full be described.
In this dark and dirty town, sometimes things got out of hand and in the case of New York City, this happened more often than not. This was why Vigilantes existed and this was supposed to be why the X-men existed in some cases.
Or at least that’s how things used to be, things have changed and with the X-men working with the Police trying to stop international crimes normal crimes were often left untouched, this is where the vigilantes came in, Vigilantes like Shred, who had become fairly notable in the back alleys of the city. A strange masked Vigilante who destroyed villains whether they were human, mutant or otherwise. Always knowing where the trouble was, always knowing weak points, Shred was a force to be reckoned with and many knew that.
However, the persona of Shred was no longer enough, not anymore.
Emerald had originally thought that she would be able to fight and not only save people as herself but as Shred as well. Not only that, but in the fast paced life as Shred, it helped her burn off the extra energy she had stored up. Problem was, it didn’t burn off all of it, the basic need to fight, to tear into her opponent was still there and she couldn’t seem to shake it. She couldn’t seem to leave that part of her behind no matter what she did and even with weekly hunting trips, she still had those bestial urges to attack.
The good thing was that she had gotten a lot better at holding herself back, but it was gradually getting harder and harder to do so. After an extended amount of time, even with herself control, Emerald’s urge to fight was far too strong even for her to handle on a daily bases, she needed a release. Something that could just get her blood boiling and to be able to release all of that rage and hatred she felt against others. Something that reminded her that she was once a fighter and always will be, something to give her a reason to fight and to get better and better every day.
If there was one thing about the fights she was forced into as a child during her imprisonment, it was the fact they always kept her on her toes. She was used for her life, it had been such a huge factor for her personality for so many years she almost felt a little naked without it.
Sure she would much rather fight for other people and the greater good, but that can only sustain the human side of her brain, right now, the beast was clawing at the walls within her mind and her body. It howled for blood and violence, the life it once lived almost five years ago. It roared for the feeling of blood beneath it's claws, for the screaming sounds of it's victims beneath it's mighty fangs. It craved a worthy opponent, wanting to feel the rush of a good fight and the euphoric feeling of fighting someone without rules and limitations.
And so did Emerald
This was where the cage matches were going come in.
After the vision that a young man had of her cage fighting, Emerald had begun to ask around, if there anything like an underground cage match in this dark and twisted city. It didn’t take her too long scrounging in the underworld to find exactly what she was looking for.
It had only been several hours after Emerald had left the wedding that she was already on patrol. For what? Simply stated: any crimes of any kind being committed against innocent people, human or mutant. In her absence from the Xavier Institute, the young woman learned several things, one of those being that the police of New York City, despite their vigilance, were not doing that great of a job keeping people safe.
Crimes against mutants seemed to be more prevalent than crimes against humans, so a good deal of the time, things tended to hit far too close to home to the wolf girl for her to simply ignore it. Not only this, but for a long time she was sick and tired of her fellow X-men sitting upon their high horses only helping when their was a global crisis on their hands and nothing more. Justice could not prevail if a team of super humans just went off doing more ‘important things’ while the rest of the world burned.
In this time of crisis and global decay of society, Emerald took on the persona of Shred, a mysterious motorcycle rider who stole away into the night, rescuing those who could not rescue themselves. To hide her identity Emerald wore a black motorcycle riding suit, with dark blue stripes down the sides, her helmet being the same. Her suit was large and bulky so she was not only able to hide her tail underneath it but she was also able to hide her gender as well.
It was a truly great thing because now she was able to disguise herself with near perfection without the risk of being discovered. Truthfully, Emerald could have just not gone with the whole super hero get up and looked completely normal while doing this. The problem, though, was that people could go after her and possibly her family if she kept herself in the open like that.
The distinct roar of her Black Harley motorcycle roared in her ears as she parked infront of an alleyway where she could have sworn she heard a noise before. After taking a quick glance from beneath the visor of her helmet she realized a young woman was being harassed by 3 burly men all looking for one thing, judging by their leering gazes. However, it only took them a moment to realize they were being watched by a mysterious figure sitting upon a motorcycle.
Red, the redhead and no doubt the leader of the group approached the figure, typical bad boy swagger as he approached the seemingly hapless driver of the motorcycle.
“Hey Buddy. Whatcha doing here? Ya lost or something? Beat it punk, we are busy getting this girl to show some of what she’s got.” The male smiled at the helmet clad interloper before turning his back. “Hey. Maybe you want to join us?”
Before he even had time to react a wooden baseball bat came crashing down on Red’s head making a loud cracking noise. The 6’1 man crashed to the ground like a sack of potatoes.
While he wasn’t dead in the slightest, his friends still threw quite a fit when he dropped, both ignoring the terrified blonde woman to go after ‘Shred’. The one with Black hair threw several punches that would have hurt greatly if any had actually hit. However, all were dodged by the oddly graceful biker, just before they threw a strong right hook at his face, colliding with his mug.
A loud crack sound was heard once again but this time it was fist hitting bone so hard that several bones in the man’s jaw were broken, as well as his nose. He fell backwards, knocked unconscious by the sheer force of the blow. Emerald shook her hand a little, feeling as if it had just slammed into a brick wall. She then looked over at the third thug who looked absolutely terrified, approaching him with an absolutely evil grin underneath her visor. With the most intimidating voice Emerald could muster she growled.
“Boo.”
Apparently, even the word ‘boo’ leaving Emerald Lupin’s mouth when she is Shred is the most terrifying thing in the world, judging by how fast the third thug turned tail and ran. The wolf girl laughed beneath her helmet before watching the woman approach her. She was about 5’4, blonde hair, blue eyes, but only a thin waif of a woman who most likely would have been easily beaten up by one of those men’s punches if they got their hands on her. Luckily though, she only had a small bruise on her arm from defending herself against them.
“How can I ever thank you? Who are you?” She asked, her voice shaking from her previous attack.
With that, Emerald turned away from the rest of the alleyway, beginning to walk back to her motorcycle. As she mounted the thing, she revved up the engine a few times before she finally spoke.
“No need to thank me ma’am. And my name is Shred.” Emerald told her before racing away into the dead of night.

A series of unfortunate events caused a young mutant to lose a part of herself, part of her powers, just a week before the infamous neural bomb occurred in downtown New York City. She left New York in the first place to visit her parents on a small private island off of the east coast of Florida. Deciding to go to town for provisions for the journey back to New York should not have been the cause of the strife, but it was.
It started when the kind of oil she needed was not in the local general store, making her go all the way to the outskirts of town in order to find it. Originally, she thought she had been blessed with a truck in such good condition that she could make it that far. Of course, things didn’t go her way, and the car broke down on the side of the road.
She shifted the truck into neutral and began pushing it along; giving a low growl that broke the silence of the orange grove where her truck had broken down. It was at that moment that she silently wished that she was stronger so she could push the truck far easier, but it wasn’t like that was going to happen. It was hard for her not to notice how blazing hot the little grove was, making sweat pour off of her body.
That explained why she was having a hard time pushing the truck, the hot sun always took a lot out of the water manipulator. After about fifteen minutes of pushing, a strong breeze blew through the grove, blowing southward, and if it wasn’t for the truck in front of her, it would have been blowing right into the she-wolf’s face. Letting out a sigh, the woman removed her normally comfortable denim jacket and put it in the bed of the pick-up before continuing to push, not caring if the sun burned her already tanned back through the tank top she wore.
After a while longer, the young woman then realized it was wrong of her to call this grove “small”, because it was, in fact, rather large. Colossal, even. It may take me a longer time to push this than I thought, she thought, continuing her trek. After a few moments more she stopped, going to the cab of the car to shift it into park.
From the cab, she retrieved a cold bottle of coke and she climbed into the bed of the truck, deciding to take a break after a long trek down the seemingly endless groves.
The wind then got stronger, whistling past the wolf girl’s ears, making it hard for her to listen to any of the nature around her. When she gazed above her space on the truck bed, she saw that black clouds were looming above her, seeming to glare menacingly down at her. Taking this as a cue to start pushing again before the storm started, the girl rose stood in the cab, brushing her off before she would exit the bed of the truck.
Young Miss Emerald Lupin never got that far.
Without her enhanced senses warning her beforehand, an unknown assailant leapt on her from behind, slamming her body face down into the bed of the truck. Letting out a grunt of pain, Emerald managed to catch the scent of her assailant, her nose somehow avoiding to be broken on the hard truck bed. Her blood ran cold as she breathed in a scent so familiar and so terrible that it made her freeze in her struggles. Emerald’s body was unable to move for the terrifying man, and memories that accompanied this scent overwhelmed her with a distinct feeling of absolute terror. Though she was unable to turn her head due to the massive hand pining it down, she knew who it was and she dreaded what he would do to her next. It was perfect for him, she was all alone in the middle of nowhere and he had her right where he wanted her.
“Mmmmmm is my Puppy lost?” Bloodfang asked, his voice attempting to be soothing as he ran his index finger down Emerald’s cheek. While her other cheek was planted firmly into the truck bed, the place where Bloodfang had his hand was a perfect place to hold his precious puppy’s head down while he “talked” to her.
Emerald winced, feeling him run his finger up and down her cheek several more times, now using his claw-like fingernails to carve into her skin. She shuddered in disgust as she watched that large feral looking face of his leaned down to lick at his fingers. The fear that this male put her through was unbearable. Every movement, every touch felt like fire against her skin. She knew very well what he was capable of and what he wanted to do to her, a fact that made her skin crawl.
“Ahhh, Your scent and your blood taste the same. Such a peculiar scent of lavender mixed with sea water you scent has. While your blood has that wonderful metallic taste all blood does, but yours…Ooohhh it tastes like a fine wine running down my throat my dear. So warm, so inviting and so,” Bloodfang trailed off, suddenly slashing his fingers against Emeralds cheek, he cackled at her sharp cry, the disgusting claw-like fingernails stinging her skin. He took a strong whiff of her blood just before taking his clawed fingers to his lips. “Intoxicating.”
A low growl rumbled in his throat as he removed his hand from his “mate’s” face. He rolled her over on her back, noticing his handy work on that exposed cheek, with the long gouge marks down her face. He then noticed her other cheek was bruised and her lip was busted and swollen. Placing his knees on top of her thighs he smiled sadly at his lovely mate, trying to make a look of sympathy. Bloodfang noticed those wonderful blue eyes fill with confusion as he put on an expression that made it seem like he was about to cry.
“I'm sorry my love! I shouldn’t hurt you in this way! Come here! Let me make you feel better,” he told her, pressing his lips firmly against hers.
Obviously taken aback, Emerald’s eyes widened as she tried to will her body into doing something, but it was still frozen from head to toe. No matter what she said, she was still terrified of Bloodfang and he knew that. She then felt his hand wander across her body, becoming far to acquainted with certain parts. With a brief spark of fighting spirit to avoid being hurt again, Emerald allowed his tongue to enter her mouth, just before she bit down on it, hard.
With a loud cry he drew his lips back from her, giving her enough time to have her fight or flight instincts to kick in. Just as she was about to dart away by jumping over the cab of the truck and onto the hood, leaping off of it and away from him, she felt a force grab her ankle just as she began to climb over. With a loud yelp she felt herself being thrown backwards by the yank of her ankle. This was when the grip tightened and an audible crack was heard. Emerald made no sound, but she knew her ankle was now broken and from the pain she bit her lip, as she was dragged backward with it.
Suddenly, Emerald felt the broken ankle twist causing her to cry out as she was thrown onto the bed of the truck again and again. She felt her ribs cracking more and more with every blow as blood spurted from her now busted lip. Emerald heard laughter just as Bloodfang hauled her upward, far enough so she could be partially leaning over the side of her truck. He grabbed the she wolf roughly by the shoulders, and before she could even ponder what he was doing, He slammed her torso down firmly on the side of the truck, breaking her ribs and causing her to let out a harsh scream.
Bloodfang gently lifted the young woman from her place, draped over the truck bed, and threw her on her back, making another cry escape her lips. Blood ran from the side of her mouth as pain overwhelmed her senses. His mouth kissed her jaw slowly, kissing upwards till he found the tender point of her ear. Biting down roughly, he ripped that tiny tip off of the wolf girls tender ear cause her to cry out in pain once again. At this moment, Bloodfang couldn’t help but laugh at the sheer helpless of the wolf girl. He gently spit out the tip of the ear, lapping up the small amount of blood that came from it.
“Ooohhh my dear, I love how your fear makes you unable to fight me, and you just sprawled out there makes you look far more tantalizing.” Bloodfang groaned, biting down on the mark on the wolf girl’s shoulder.
A cry escaped the girls lips again and she started trembling in fear as he loomed over her body, placing both large hands on ether shoulder all while pining her legs slightly apart with his knees. The fear in her eyes was apparent as she weakly tried to struggle beneath him, pain becoming so intense that she would soon lose consciousness. Bloodfang could see this, and he took her face roughly in one hand, forcing her to look at him while he ran his other down the middle of her torso. “Don’t go to sleep now, my precious puppy, we have so many fun things to do before you sleep."
A terrible scream erupted from the lips of a terrified female on a hospital bed, making her look around frantically. Miss Emerald Lupin had been unconscious for the past 3 weeks, making her a little disoriented when she woke up in the odd medical setting. Immediately upon her arrival back into the real world, she tried to find some way to escape the hospital she was in.
This was when she realized that she wasn’t in a hospital at all, but in a small room of a house. She was able to tell by the odd paintings everywhere, the fact that there were no doctors around her, and the anapestic smell seemed to be covered by some strange floral scent.
Once she caught a floral scent, Emerald immediately knew where she was. She was in her old friend’s house. Miss Shift’s house. The young woman couldn’t help but notice the pain that rolled through her body like waves. When she looked down to see any injuries she had, she found that there were none, well at least, non that were visible. In fact, she wasn’t in nearly as much pain as she had been before.
She looked to the small bedside table that was by her little medical bed and found a bottle of aspirin and a mirror. It was here Emerald noticed something very peculiar, the scratches on her face, though still they were nearly gone. Without thinking, Emerald leapt up off of the bed and felt no difficulty standing up…well with the exception of the brief disorientation and the excruciating pain from moving too fast.
It was strange. Despite the pain, she almost felt stronger, more alive than she had before. Inhaling deeply, Emerald could find more scents in the room than she ever had before, and it made her just want to run around and bark for joy! Wait…Bark? Emerald thought, stretching her legs a little as she made her way into the living room where Miss Jane Shift sat, drinking her afternoon tea. Sitting down next to her without a word, Emerald watched as the older woman placed her cup down and gazed calmly at the she wolf.
“I'm glad you’re awake.” Shift told the girl, smiling warmly.
Emerald couldn’t help but return the smile, though her teeth felt a little sharper than normal. Shrugging it off, Emerald responded in kind. “I'm glad I'm awake, too. Man, I thought I was done for, for sure,” Emerald told Shift, then noticing the woman shift uncomfortably. The young woman quirked a brow, noticing the change in body language.
”Shift? What’s up?” Emerald asked, her voice filled with questions.
“You nearly died, Emerald. Your blood was drowning you as it filled your lungs. By the time we got to you, he had nearly broken your spine and had popped your jaw, arms and legs out of place.” Shift explained to the wolf girl, watching her as her eyes widened.
“Then how did you fix me up, Doc? I mean, last time I checked, you weren’t a healer and the nearest healer in Florida at the time was in Hawaii visiting family!” Emerald asked, her voice rising in panic. “I'm not dead am I? This isn’t a hallucination right?!”
Shift rolled her eyes at the overactive imagination of the young wolf girl. “No Emerald…it’s just. I had to use the third set on you.” Shift paused, watching the younger woman stiffen immediately upon the mention of those words. “I didn’t use all of the injections, just two so you would survive.”
Emerald tried to be calm. Emerald tried to be rational, but the fear inside of her was building fast. Those serums were the reason why she left the labs. Those serums could have turned her into a monster if all four of them had been injected into her.
“What did that hell juice do to help me survive? What could something that was made by the hands of the DAMN DEVIL HIMSELF DO TO HELP ME SURVIVE, SHIFT?!” Emerald roared out her last words, standing up suddenly. The pain once again overwhelmed her, forcing her to sit back down. She watched as Miss Shift looked away, guilt clear in her eyes.
“Briefly, as in about a day or so, gave you regenerative abilities, giving you the means to heal faster, buying me enough time to drain the blood out of your lungs. The second injection removed all traces of synthetic powers from your body, like your water manipulation, and instead stimulated your wolven abilities,“ Miss Shift chose her next words carefully judging by the shocked look on Emeralds face.
For a moment she thought about not saying her next words, judging by how the wolf girl placed her head in her hands and shook, but no one else would tell her so she might as well be the one to do it. “In a sense, even though you haven’t been given the third and fourth injections, you are now on nearly par with Bloodfang if he ever comes after you again. You can now lift up to 400 pounds I would wager, and though your thoughts will be somewhat instinctual, if you were able to control them before you can probably learn to control them just as well again. I know this is hard, Emerald, but you have to realize, if I didn’t do this, you would have died.”
Giving the older woman a cold look, the wolf girl growled lowly at her. “I would rather die a warrior than to live on as a monsterIt was at this point the wolf girl stalked off back into the room where she had woken up, curling up on the medical bed.
Brief moments of memory came flashing back to her as she remembered all of what Bloodfang had done before her blissful unconscious state set in. A sob escaped her throat as she ran her own hands over her body, trying to erase any traces of his hands on her form. Everything that had hurt her, all of the pain she had been through in the past year came tumbling out with every low shaking sob.
Pained, wronged, the wolf girl reached out her arm and knocked everything off of the bedside table before sitting up in and throwing it against the wall. An anguished scream escaped her throat as she charged at the nearby desk, grabbing its chair and throwing it against the wall, sending it shattering into many pieces. She then slammed her hands against the desk, pounding them into it again and again until the skin on her knuckles split at they began to ache and most likely break. Emerald continued to cry and scream out until her voice broke, so much pain flowing from her was simply unbearable for anyone to hear.
In the next room, Miss Shift waited until the screams and cries stopped, knowing it would be far better to wait until the hurricane of emotions calmed. The older woman had known Emerald ever since she was a small child and had been an assassin alongside her in Fusion Corp.
She had attempted to take care of all the Lupins, just as their mother had taken care of her. Shift had managed to aide Sapphire in protecting Ruby but unfortunately the middle Lupin child often left her area of protection. It was hours later when Miss Shift heard the screaming finally stop. Making, her way into the room, she had been placed in, her eyes widened at the sheer destruction that the room held before her.
Everything was broken or shattered, blood covered the walls and there was the perpetrator, laying in the middle of the room curled up in fetal position, blood steadily flowing from her fists. Without a word, Miss Shift began to treat the young woman and was surprised when she leaned her head up against her, shaking a little as Emerald rested her body against her own. Shift stopped bandaging up Emeralds hands to wrap her arms around the girl’s shoulders, pulling her into a tight hug. She felt Emerald shake and sob in her arms, the anguish in that normally clear flowing voice was apparent.
“His Hands…I can still feel them,” Emerald whimpered in the woman’s arms, “Why won’t it go away? He didn’t go all the way but… they are still all over.”
Shift sighed, shushing the girl as she tried to rock the both of them back and forth. “It will fade in time. I promise you, all of this pain will fade in time.”
“But I will never get my water abilities back will I?” Emerald asked in a shaking voice.
“No my dear, no you won’t, I'm so sorry.” Shift told her, squeezing the younger girl reassuringly.
”It’s okay” Emerald told the woman. In her mind however she added something to the very end of that sentence. One she kept secret from Shift because she was sure the older woman didn’t want to hear. “ I don’t blame you at all. I’m just going to hunt this beast down until one of us is remains.Even if it kills me.”
Being comforting was something that Emerald wasn't really used to. The best she could be a lot of times was a good big sister for Ruby in order to protect her and keep her safe. It was sort of nice for her to have people that she could be the big sister to again. For a while she thought that she was going to be a lone wolf again. Emerald's arms fell to her sides after Rebecca shuffled a bit a way.
The younger girl's question didn't surprise Emerald in the slightest. Of course Rebecca didn't think she would be fighting forever, she didn't know the full extent of what was out there. The wolf woman had unfortunately seen far more cruelty than anyone was meant to.
"I know I will," Emerald replied simply, giving her student a small shrug. Those blue eyes of hers looked off into the distance . "No matter how much I fight there will always be someone else behind them taking their place. Human, Mutant it doesn't matter, monsters take many shapes and in the end it doesn't matter who it is or what they are,I'm going to be there to stop them no matter what,"
Right to the stomach, the blows started flying. Emerald should have known to brace her stomach so the first actually knocked the wind out of her a bit. She quickly tightened up and allowed Rebecca to keep pounding on her.
Her student needed this far more than she thought she did and judging by how the blows were going, Emerald knew that. This is when Emerald's high pain tolerance came in handy. This sort of thing, the wolf woman knew all to well, the pain of each memory with every single blow, it was something she went through more often than she should have.
The redhead took a chance to gaze down at her student, now feeling the blows getting weaker and weaker until Becca finally broke down. Emerald felt the young girl lean against her, saw as well as smelt the tears running down her face. People's scents always changed when they were crying, different chemicals or something of that nature.
Without a single word Emerald opened up those scarred up muscle banded arms of hers and engulfed Rebecca in a Lupin bear hug. Things never got easier, even as time went on, but having someone there for you helped ease the pain a little.
"It just does, life just is never easy for anyone. We just have to live even if our lives are filled with more bad than good," Emerald attempted to reassure Rebecca, knowing she wasn't really good at it. "Take it from someone who is destined to fight demons for the rest of her life, you'll get through it. And if you don't I'll just beat the crap out of whoever isn't letting you."
Beating people up, Emerald Lupin's patented solution to every problem.
It really wasn't that had to see that she had struck a nerve with her student, which was good. The more Rebecca could get out the easier her life would be. If she kept this in for too long, she was going to find herself in far more pain than anything else.
No one knew that better than Emerald.
Emerald just didn't want the same emotions that would hold her back at time to hold back her student as well. Of course, that's exactly what they seemed to be doing.
"Difference is, I wasn't in love with Akshay, you were in love with Agnes. That changes everything," Emerald replied, with no flash of emotion on her face.
Her voice didn't even reflect her own emotions on the subject, it just sounded like it was stating a simple fact. Which it was. It was part of the reason the two had broken up, the fact that Emerald never cared for him that way. Despite how hard she tried.
"You know what," Emerald started as she put her arms up in a defensive position. "Come over here and start waling on me. Just give me everything you got and I won't move a damn inch. As you can see I've been through far worse so you taking out your anger and emotion won't damage me too much."
Something didn't seem right. Wether it was in the way that Rebecca was moving or the fact that she wasn't doing the normal things she used to do during training something didn't seem right. Unless Emerald was just an awful teacher which she pretty sure she wasn't, Rebecca was just acting off.
The werewolf allowed the blows to land, allowing herself to be kicked away to a short distance. Instead of charging head on to her opponent, Emerald stopped and rooted herself firmly to the ground. She might as well do that, just in case if Rebecca tried to come at her for this next bit.
"Alright, are you thinking about Agnes? Because I have never seen you this distracted before and before you ask, Ruby told me, she heard you guys." The werewolf stated bluntly, her arms crossed over her chest.
While Emerald knew this wasn't the best way to bring it up, quite frankly she didn't really care. If Rebecca wanted to moon about her girlfriend, the battlefield wasn't the place to do it. She was going to get herself killed if she kept doing that. It wasn't like Emerald was trying to be mean, she just didn't want her student to have her head in the clouds when it mattered the most.
((OOC:Hope this was okay but I figured that Em would notice the sloppier behavior of her student.))
That hit of hers connected and Emerald had a hard time fighting back a pleased smirk. Lesson achieved, she didn't have to use books or anything all she had to do was punch someone really hard. Hell if this was what normal teaching was like she wouldn't mind becoming a teacher.
With a small growl, Emerald dashed forward, her lips curled back in a pleased grin. This right here was her bread and butter, something she could do all day if she wanted to. She had already eaten before this so she had more than enough energy to burn by doing this.
Rebecca was getting back to the basics and so was she, Emerald's offensive prowess and physical endurance was what made her a great fighter.
