The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“The whole wolf mutant thing might have scared them off. Also, yeah that’s big sister Sapphire for ya, the job and her creepy ass art must not be interrupted or she will get into, “Emerald placed her hand on her hand and let out an overly dramatic gasp “A funk!”
Emerald let out a laugh at the end of that, enjoying the fact that she could rib on her sister without revealing how nutty she was. Most people thought Sapphire was just eccentric, but as someone that knew the real side of her she knew better. The werewolf nodded at his answer knowingly, he seemed to be a sort of a heroic guy.
Or at least a nice enough person to not leave someone stuck on the side of the road. This conversation turned the tone of the car into pleasant one and Emerald didn’t really mind it, not one bit.
“Yep that’s me, part wolf. Also, Ya sure it’s not because you couldn’t saw an oversized puppy on the side of the road in a big metal box and you just felt the urge to save her,” Emerald joked, that same wolfish grin on her face. It was the same playful tone she used when talking about her sister without the slightly irritated malice put at the end. “How about I bring you the newspaper in my teeth as a reward for helping me?”
Despite her jokes, Emerald was actually curious about Jacob’s powers and when he mentioned that it was control over mechanics she wasn’t exactly surprised. That might explain why it took him such a short time to identify the problem in her car.
Or he could have been just a nerd like her sister was about cars. Whatever the reason she was glad that he just happened to drive by. Maybe this day wasn’t going to turn out so bad after all. It wasn’t often that she stumbled upon another person that didn’t ask her a million questions when they first met her. Down to business, a perfect way to live life.
“My baby sister would love that power,” Emerald told him. “She’s a little mechanical genius and she’s usually the one that fixes my stuff when it gets broken or I accidentally break it.”
The time seemed to be passing a lot quicker now that they were being cordial with one another and it was nice, he caught her in a bad mood but that seemed to be going away pretty quick.
The engine of the car roared like it was a beast of the wild and the duo were off. Emerald had this distinctive feeling that this was going to be one of those long drives and figured she should be somewhat cordial. The Alpha female wasn't as anti social as it seemed, she just had a habit of alienating people with her wolfish mannerisms.
"About two hours," Emerald admitted a sheepish grin appearing on her face. Those sharp teeth of hers showing making an appearance with the toothy grin. "I was waiting for my older sister to get done with god knows whatever so she could pick me up. It's one of those it can take only a few hours or it can take all night, kind of situations."
What the middle Lupin girl wanted to say was "Yeah my sister is sorta unreliable" but didn't because as much as they fought, Emerald still had a certain amount of respect for Sapphire. Sure the older girl was absolutely insane but she was still family and being a pack animal, Emerald had to respect that.
There was a small moment of silence between the two, with the wolf woman staring outside the window longingly at the trees. It was at times like these she wished that she had hunted a little while longer. Or that she kept her take downs.
There was no use crying over spilled milk though and it might be a good idea to try to break the ice. This time however, Alpha Female decided that she'd be the one to break the it. Wether or not it would freeze immediately again afterwords would depend on how Jacob took blunt questions.
"So, how often do ya pick up stranded people on the side of the road? Or do you only pick up chicks on the side of the road?" Emerald inquired, her voice not accusatory or anything of that nature, she sounded legitimately curious. The werewolf's head was even tilted to the side in inquiry similarly to a curious pup, her tail idly thumping against the leather seat.
It was like Jacob was talking to not just a young woman but a wolf. This was what he got from picking up a sad looking stray on the side of the road.
The cold wasn't something Emerald liked all that much and usually when it was too cold she would either layer clothes or stay in wolf form most the time. Of course this guy didn't need to know the extent of her powers so she decided to stay quite.
At least the wolf woman's car was being fixed, even if it was temporary. The wolf woman figured she would have to take it to a shop eventually, she couldn't just avoid driving that truck forever. After all, Emerald's parents had gotten it for her as a gift after she sold the other one for scrap and despite the fact she didn’t want it, Emerald couldn’t say no to it, especially considering how nice it was. Who knows how much they had to spend in order to buy it.
"Nah, I really don't have anywhere to be,"Emerald confessed as she kicked the dirt idly with those steeled toed combat boots. "I was just driving back from a hunting trip so as long as I can get home sometime I should be fine. While I wouldn't mind walking I guess a ride would take me there faster so sure I'll ride with you."
So far, it didn't really seem like he minded the whole mutant thing. Which either meant he was a tolerant, sane person or he was a mutant himself. Honestly, Emerald was surprised he didn't address the tail yet, which despite it's inactivity was laying was still visible.
Then again he hadn't exactly gotten a chance to look back there...maybe that was a blessing in disguise. All in all, Jacob seemed like a nice guy, a nice guy that probably doesn't mind picking up "damsels in distress" on the side of the road, but at least he stopped. That was more than she could say for the people that drove by. The alpha female tucked a stray strand of hair behind her non mutilated ear ear, smiling at him a little bit without showing those pointed teeth of hers.
"We should probably get going, strange stuff tends to happen when you linger on the highway for too long. "She told him as she walked over to his car.
The guy wasn't such a bad guy, after all he was helping her out with his apparent mechanic expertise. This didn't mean she was letting her guard down just yet. Being on edge out in the middle of nowhere like this was normal for the werewolf and she tended to be more defensive around males. She had fought more males so they were more of her opponents than anything else.
Maybe, just maybe she wasn't giving this guy enough of a chance. The wolf woman's eyes still followed him like a hawk but she would lay off a little bit. It looked like he found the problem rather quickly but instead of chalking that up as weird she shrugged it off.
"Makes sense, I haven't gotten it checked for that sort of thing in a while. It' s been in a garage because I don't really drive it all that often compared to my motorcycle," Emerald explained as she gave the mechanic a small shrug.
When he mentioned the oil needed to be changed Emerald nodded a little. It might be time for the change-hating gal to give this monster of a machine a little TLC. While she didn't ride it all that often she was sure that she could get Ruby to do some of the same enhancements on it that she did with the Green machine. That and do maintenance on it, since Ruby was so interested in the mechanics of things.
"You mentioned you had a shop up the road right? Can I get it changed there?" Emerald inquired head tilted to the side with curiosity. The Renegade X Woman failed to even mention his random knowledge or just plain didn't notice.
The alpha female might look more human than some of the fully anthropomorphic animal mutants but she still shared the same instincts as they did. One of them being the general characteristics and mannerisms of her wolven counterpart. It was something that could be far more easily noticed than a small change of color or general knowledge.
Despite the situation was in, Emerald was sorta glad she could get away for a little while, even with all the cars barreling by. It was a nice chance to relax and have a good time...eating frozen jerky.
God she had to get out of here.
Just when she was pondering going out to go hunting in the forest, a car drove up to the truck and actually stopped. Not exactly believing in the kindness of strangers, the werewolf tensed looking over at the person who stepped out of the car. Emerald made sure to take in his scent, just in case if he tried any funny business.
He smelt like a mechanic, or at least that's what she noticed most mechanics smelt like. oil, grease, that strange electricity smell she would sometimes get from power tools, all molding together to make who this guy really was. Everyone had a unique scent this seemingly helpful civilian being no different. The werewolf would use this scent to track him if need be.
Eh, maybe I'm just being too paranoid. But considering what situation I ended up in the last time I was stuck in a truck in the middle of nowhere, I don't think anyone can blame me for this. Emerald thought, looking at the male curiously.
She was sizing him up and if anything happened he would be harder to take down than what she was used to so maybe she should try to make nice first. With her extremely muscular build, missing chunk of her left ear, the visible claw marks around her neck area and the whole tail thing she probably looked a little intimidating to most people. To this guy though, she doubted but if he tried anything that would be his mistake.
"That would be nice Jacob," Emerald replied, that deep slightly growly voice coming out. The wolf girl hopped down from the trunk "I didn't notice the temperature when I was driving and it just sorta overheated. I kinda forgot to check it."
So today wasn’t turning out like Emerald expected, not in the slightest. It just was turning out to be one of those days, one of those days that she really regretted not learning more about this car. The damn thing, a 2009 f-150 red Ford Pick up Truck was more trouble than it was worth. It wasn’t that it was a bad car, it was just the fact that when it broke down, she had no idea what to do with it.
Emerald knew her motorcycle like the back of her hand because she had the thing for so long, but this truck was a mystery to her in comparison. Ruby knew a lot about it and of course the little pup was borrowing the manual so she could help Emerald learn about it which meant that she was stuck on the side of the road with no manual.
Why was she stuck on the side of the road?
Well, the werewolf had been on her way back from Finger Lakes National Park, taking the Highways to save on gas and all of a sudden her truck started steaming. She pulled over quickly to find that the thing was overheating.
Of course, she didn’t have coolant in her back seat or anything that could help fix this problem so she was stuck waiting on the side of the road. Emerald tried to call Sapphire, but her big sister seemed to be working at the moment so she would have to wait until the darkness manipulator called her back.
The werewolf looked over her steaming car, the hood propped up as the steam bellowed off of it. A low sigh escaped her lips, eyes filled with irritation. She hated relying on others to help her get the job done but at the moment she really couldn’t do anything. Emerald knew she could always run home on foot, but the last thing she want was to leave a steaming Truck on the side of the highway near the woods. That was like asking for the thing to get stolen and the last thing she needed was to get a new car again.
Her parents had bought this one for her to replace the one she got rid of due to personal reasons . The Alpha Female stalked over to the bed of her truck and popped open the large cooler she had in the back of it. She reached in and grabbed an icy bottle of water and a bag of slightly frozen beef jerky.
“What possessed me to put this in the damn ice chest?” Emerald asked herself aloud.
Emerald sat down in the bed of her truck and tore into the bag of jerky with her sharp teeth. The she-wolf tearing into the jerky viciously. She was glad she dressed warmly today with her blue jeans and her long sleeved shirt, it looked like she was going to be there for a while. Emerald scarfed down the frozen jerky with an eager wag of her tail.
At least she had plenty of jerky to last her for a little while.
The girls didn't have to tell Emerald twice about leading the way. Hell, Emerald was already halfway out the door when they agreed that she should lead them to the kitchen. The blue eyed wolf woofed excitedly and barreled down the hallway toward the kitchen. Wolves were fairly fast and the duo might notice that their four legged friend outran them rather quickly.
She might have left the girls in the dust because by the time they would get there they would notice the ripped chewed to pieces Tupperware discarded on the floor near the trashcan. They also might, might notice that instead of their wolfy companion from earlier that there was a far more human presence.
Well if you could call someone like Emerald a human. The Alpha female leaned against the counter top, apple clenched tightly in hand. She was chowing down on it as if she hadn't eaten anything in weeks, large sharp teeth really tearing into the thing. The wolf woman swallowed finally and waved to her two companions once they got in there, tail swishing back and forth.
"Yo," She greeted, "Sorry about the wolf stuff earlier, it was the full moon a few days ago and I was stupid, forgot to eat when I got back so I was stuck like that. Also, I guess you two are new because I didn't recognize your scents earlier that's why I gave you a bit of a scare, can't be too careful these days with the nut-balls running around this damn city."
Emerald had never been known for being the most friendly person in the world so it was really not surprise to anyone that knew her that she acted the way she did. However, her antics did tend to give a lot of people grief which might be why she wasn't the most popular X-man. After all, scaring the daylights out of the newbies wasn't exactly something that was encouraged, but you had to be careful now days.
Well now that formalities were out of the way it looked like the trio were going to become fast friends. Then again, this is Emerald we are talking about here, so she was likely just trying to be friendly. Ruby had been getting onto her lately about not being nicer to people so she figured she could try to be nicer to some of the newer members of the mansion.
A loud growl erupted from the wolfs stomach and she looked at the two girls curiously. Emerald knew that the Kitchen was marked on the mansions tour map and even if the girls didn't follow she was gonna get some food so she could shift back.
Emerald Lupin had been given quite a few different nicknames before, quite a few meaning some nasty things. So when the smaller girl said a random word she didn't understand, she acted like most animals would and tilted her head to the side in confusion with one ear perks up with one ear slightly down.
Once the meaning of the word had been confirmed the confused looked was immediately wiped off the wolf's face. The name was not a bad one and it was a nickname she could live with until they found out her real name.
Speaking of that, what her name was, was finally asked and while she could always try to say it, she figured she should save her energy for something else. That and she didn't want to sound like a Scooby Doo crossover reject.
With a quick dash over to the shelves again Emerald retrieved a fairly large book with a piece of paper pinned on the front. In fairly large print the book said.
"Reserved for Emerald Lupin." And upon further inspection it was a book about myths relating to lycanthropic creatures. A point of interest for someone like her.
While the wolf woman didn’t mind talking about her boy experience to help others, this didn’t mean she particularly liked to. The problem with revealing fragments of her past was she felt those unwanted feelings again of feeling vulnerable like she did back then. Emerald didn’t show a bit of this of course and it was doubtful that she would ever. She had some outbursts in the past but that was because she got caught in a lie or a fib, now she was trying to keep herself quite a bit more in control.
“Alright, no Psychics because my first love, around the time I first got to the mansion, yeah he kinda psychically screwed me over some years back,” Emerald explained, shrugging her shoulders lightly. That secret had been revealed a year or so back thanks to a haunted house and some more psychic kids so it didn’t hurt as much anymore. Of course this didn’t mean she didn’t feel like crap because of how dumb and gullible she was back then.
“There was this other guy, a thief, I shoulda known he was trouble but he was cute and he actually could stand the wolf thing. He was just doing it to help his family and I know what that’s like so I let him do his own thing. I fell for him like a ton of bricks, but the feeling didn’t seem mutual. Finally got the guts to ask him out, he said yes and I thought it was going to be fine till he stood me up. Went on an extra-long hunting trip after that one,” Emerald shook her head, idly punching at the air.
That wound seemed a little fresher than the others judging by that slight bitter edge that tinged her voice. Emerald started doing a technique she had showed Rebecca a while back, shadow boxing. It was a technique to learn how to practice your moves a little better and to maybe match your moves against yourself in battle. It didn’t seem like it made sense, but once you fight a few dopplegangers it comes in handy.
“There’s been others, mainly guys that don’t stick around when I started to have feelings for them. Or guys that left me out in the cold when I told them my feelings. I’ve also turned down a very tiny amount of guys, cause you see when you’re someone like me, guys don’t exactly come banging down your door asking for a date,” Emerald explained, giving a particularly fierce jab to the air. “Moral of the story, don’t fall in love or randomly want to being in some sort of relationship too easily. You will get hurt every time.”
Emerald continued this shadow fight against herself her blows seemingly getting quicker and faster, far harsher than she had showed Rebecca before. She had been holding back a lot of that feral fierceness around the young scott, if only because she didn’t want to petrify the girl. One must wonder though who was she really fighting against.
The wolf sighed in relief once she realized that the girls could actually understand her. Well, understand her as much as two “normal” girls could anyways. Emerald herself knew they weren’t normal, after all why would you be in a mutant school if you were normal? But compared to her, they were the most normal people ever. At least they didn’t get stuck in form they didn’t want to be in.
Once she was told she was making a mess, Emerald gingerly picked up each of the books and placed them on each shelf where she found them.
While she didn’t normally care if she made a mess or not, if these young ones wanted to make a mention of it she figured she would please them for now. She did however come back with something else in her jaws, a wadded folded up piece of paper. The large wolf would calmly drop this large thing at the girl’s feet.
It looks like Emerald had dropped the map to the school at the girl’s feet. It was of course the tourist map they could get at the very front desk but since they seemed a little lost she figured this might be easier. It was either this or they would have to follow her barks.
Well now that the petting formalities were out of the way, Emerald let out a happy bark. Sure, she was a lone wolf who was alone more often than not, but the fact that people were trying to communicate was sorta nice. Maybe she should lurk around like this more often. Well, if people didn't run away screaming that there was a wild animal lose in the mansion that is.
The wolf padded over to the shelves and grabbed a book as gently by the spine as possible in her massive jaws. She would go to each shelf and retrieve multiple books until she came back with an entire stack. Emerald dropped each on the floor and pushed them with her nose until they formed some sort of message.
The First book was titled.
"Sorry I scared you." It was a picture book for children about how some animals could be scary when they were actually just trying to defend themselves.
"Stuck " Was a novel about a person who felt like she was stuck in another persons body.
"In Wolf's Form" Was a small informational book about the body language.
"Will Change Back Soon." A strange book about someone who would go out dressing like a movie star and coming back as a normal, homebody house wife.
It was not the best way to communicated but she figured she might as well tell them the truth. She had a hard time speaking in this form because her mouth wasn't designed for speaking. Since she had been in werewolf form a two days ago, she shifted into wolf form to ease the pain of her bones readjusting and ended up stuck like this for a bit.
Alright, so Emerald Lupin might look a little scary. She attempted to smile in her wolf form but quickly realized it would look like she was either baring her teeth or she would look like the joker of wolves. The she-wolf padded up to her two new possible companions and sniffed Victoria's hand a little.
Now, she knew her scent a little better and would allow herself to get pet a little bit. Emerald merely ducked her head underneath the hand and allowed it to rest of her head, tail wagging playfully.
They probably knew she was a mutant but at the moment, she couldn't exactly switch back at the moment, so they would have to deal with her like this. Oh well, she could still be a guide wolf, even if she couldn't exactly talk or shift into her human form.
Oops, looks like I scared some new kids...again. The wolf thought.
Emerald shifted on her paws uncomfortably a little bit, trying to remember how to portray herself as a friendly wolf. Or at least a little more friendly than she apparently looked. She took a glance behind her and noticed her tail was straight out and quite frankly she looked as if she was ready for combat.
Oh, that explains it, my default stance is me looking like I'm gonna tear someones throat out. I really gotta work on that. Emerald realized as she approached the newer duo.
Emerald tried her best to be more...friendly, her tail wagged playfully and she tried to manage the dopiest, happy doggy grin she could muster. After all her mom was a Husky which meant that Emerald had to have some bit of that domestic dopyness in her some where. Emerald sat in front of them showing no sign she was going to attack or anything and just tried her best to look completely normal and not out of place at all.
Then again she was still a giant wolf that was covered in scars trying to act friendly so the jury was out whether or not she looked "not as intimidating".
