The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

William looked over to Rex and wondered if he should tell the man about the rules Hercules had for all the masters. No, it wasn’t useful information and this man wasn’t a master. He’d learn in time if Hercules picked him. As Rex said it wasn’t the time to explain what drawbacks the god placed on those he chose. Not when it was possible they were still being listened to. William eyed a statue as he rolled past making sure not to let his guard down.
“No, I just like knowing what’s possible.” William said in all honesty. Months ago healing would have been impossible for the young boy, before that summoning an ancient Greek demi-god. Magic was still relatively new to William who absorbed the information like a sponge, he just loved the possibilities.
>>> "Need a boost?"
The teen looked back to Rex and raised an eyebrow. “Am I moving too slow for you?” slowing down he placed his hands on his lap and waited till Rex started to push behind him. Herc was the only one he let push him, it made the teen feel vulnerable exposing his back like that. However, the young summoner knew the trust placed with Rex. “..... thanks....”
They moved along until they left the room and entered the room where Hercules was standing there almost gloating to the two men being held in the air by the statues. ”How did Atlas find us?”
“Come on! Just get this thing to let go!” one shouted. “We already told you we will tell you anything you want just get us free!” the second said sounding a little more out of breath from the struggling. They were doing their best to keep them selves elevated so they wouldn’t be choked out by the now lifeless statues.
”I am a god of my word. You will be freed after you tell us everything.” Hercules said acting like they had all the time in the world because he figured they did. They were the good guys after all.
“You’re hard to miss. We’ve been following you for some time. A giant with a kid in a wheel chair. You are staying at that haven building. We just wait till you leave. Figured this was a spot good as any. Less people, no mutants. Easy pickings for our boss.”
”How long have you watching us?” Hercules asked arms still folded. The second one spoke up, “Atlas has been watching since the kid first stole the gauntlets.” Hercules rushed the man speaking faster than humanly possible.
The god’s expression changed and he was now holding the man by the throat. The marble hand that was holding him seconds ago shattered. Magic surged through Hercules. His own hand around the throat of the man speaking ”Were you the ones that cast the fire curse taking the boy’s father!?!?”
“I can...” the boy said but was hesitant. He was helping people in chasing after the thief right? Wasn’t that one of Hercules’s rules for William? Let him help people? Would calling him breach the agreement. William didn’t call Hercules back, he knew if he did they’d have words. Unless he was in danger.
“I won’t though. Not until I have to. It draws more than I’d like to give at the moment. I still have Shadow tracking Atlas and I just summoned the owl. I’m tired.” William said honestly. Hercules trusted Rex, meaning the boy should trust Rex.
“You’re right though...” William said, “None of them are magical...” said the boy agreeing with getting out of there. Slowly William unlocked his wheels and started rolling in the direction of the exit or at least an area that wasn’t guarded by moving statues. “Mutant or magic?” William asked looking back to the hallway that Herc vanished into.
Hercules slowed from his sprint as he saw the statues holding the accomplices of Atlas. ”Oh?” he brought his hands up in a defensive position eyeing the broken statue. It was of Hera. Good. It looked better that way. The other two however were holding the struggling mystics.
”Apologies.” he said instinctively the prince of power hated making others wait for him. It was considered rude. Even if he didn’t know the statues were waiting on him. ”It doesn’t, and he isn’t my boyfriend.” the son of Zeus said finally folding his arms. The statues were silent now.
”Where are the items you stole?” Hercules asked walking closer. If Atlas destroyed one of the statues it should be easy for him as well. ”I asked you a question.” no response. He strode closer and looked to the statues and started to glow.
“Help!” one of the mystics said kicking his legs.
“We’re sorry!” the other said.
”No worries! You will make it up to me!” Hercules grinned and then started to roar with laughter....
>>>”In that you are correct. You…nothing like the Adonis I heard.”
It was true the son of Zeus had an ego, but he also knew how to be humble. To learn from his mistakes it might take a few times but he did. He had all the time in the world. ”That might be one of the one of the best compliments I have heard in years. Thank you.” he said finishing yet another plate of food and stacking it neatly under the others.
”Wonderful!” Hercules boomed when she agreed to his request about the breach. She would know the place better than others. The prince of power couldn’t wait to see the look on Serena’s face when he showed off his new wardrobe. It was yet another opportunity to impress her! Out of all the masters she was the hardest to impress. Well, her and William but William never cared what the demi-god wore. Just that he had all his clothes.
”I wonder if any of my family have shopped there?” he said loudly wishing he could see any one of them. Even Ares would have been a welcome sight. Even if all they ever did was fight.
”Ready when you are.” Hercules said savoring the last bite of his last plate stacked it then wiped the table where he sat so whoever was cleaning the tables had less to do.
The bottle opened, he held the cork and he set it in the basket so he wouldn’t be accused of littering. She was still fighting him on this. She was stubborn. One of the things he adored about the woman. She knew what she want and spoke her mind. She was brilliant.
”The kids will be there upon our return. There is a building of teachers and people willing to help the kids. You can at least take a lunch with me. It won’t be long.” he said warmly as he handed her a glass of wine. ”I have sparkling water if you prefer.” he said adding and rummaging through the basket and lifting a small bottle.
”Elizabeth... you forget who I am... what I am. For me to not worry goes against my very existence.” he said sighing and looking back to her. His eyes were sad for her. Almost as if he was holding onto the emotions she should be feeling.
”Your home was destroyed. Those you protect were put in danger. Even gods feel.” he said not looking away from her. They had talked about him taking on the power of Atlas once, her ability to feel what animals were feeling.
”Lunch... that is it. Please. If this isn’t for you at least allow me to be selfish and enjoy the company I so missed for a measly lunch... Olive?” he asked hefting the container and a fork. ”I brought cheeses as well. If something else is more to your liking.” the burly god said as he pulled an assortment of cheeses and meats from the container.
William debated calling Shadow back. If he did that he’d lose the trail of Atlas. Someone who was tracking them down. Who knew who the boy was... ‘mom’ the boy looked to Hercules concerned. But didn’t say anything. He didn’t know how much Rex knew but didn’t want to add more people their biggest weakness at the moment.
>>> “Well, I guess that’s my cue to leave,” “Thanks for the help, boys. I never could’ve pulled this off without your very distracting, and dare I say, exquisite display of masculine prowess. Thank you for the enchanting afternoon!”
”Oh?” Hercules raised his eyebrows as the statues came to life, complimented him on the show and then started to walk away. The guards that appeared were blocked by two statues who seemed to come to life as well. Only they weren’t holding any necklaces with precious stones. Hercules looked back to William who was staring at the statue confused. Continuing his act, “That statue is stealing stuff! Someone stop it!”
Not being aware that William was asking for someone else to stop it (mainly the guards) Hercules started to glow. ”I shall help!” before running out of the room charging after the statue. ”Stop thief!” before he exited the room he shouted, ”Rex of the burning blade! Protect William!” before running out of the exhibit as the guards tried to get past the statues on the other side.
“Herc! Wait! You got to be kidding me!” looking back to Rex. “She’s gonna get away!” wondering what they should do. The boy trusted Hercules to protect him with his life, it didn’t mean he trusted the summon to handle the situation they were in. Things tend to break around the demi-god.
The smaller man was right. He did need to get out more, ”I do!” followed by another. boisterous laugh ”Not much sitting to be had surely you have heard of my labors!” maybe he should recount them?
Hercules smiled to Aura when she patted him on the arm. ”Indeed! What a time to be alive!” he said glad he indeed have so many friends around. It reminded him of his previous battles, friends lost and found. Part of him was starting to wish he could see some of them again.
They discussed names for the fellow mystics here. Hercules was just happy to be there included in the festivities with his masters and new friends.
August spoke of one of his labors, so he would no longer have to recount them. Good, it felt like bragging sometimes and Hercules was told to be more modest. Which was silly. He was always modest! Hercules flexed at the mention of the lion revealing the shifting image of the creature on one of his biceps. It moved along, under and over the runes as they shifted across his chest.
His demeanor changed from one of proud to one of shame in a single sentence from August. The dim green glow he used seconds ago to show off his labors died almost instantly. His chest deflated and his eyes sad, ”....One and the same.... thank you...” the son of Zues eyes started to water. His family was always on his mind. Now it was at the front of it. Along with the loss of the mansion.
”I.. I was inspired, by another god from another pantheon.”
Was that the tree he was searching for? Hercules wondered with a look of confusion. He was still smiling glad he was there, just not exactly sure where they needed to be. He spotted the items he was searching for when the question was posed and he snapped his meaty fingers. ”To find balance.” he said cryptically. It was one of his new favorite sayings from a new friend.
”I told you.” Hercules said walking over and sitting down on the blanket. Still where he left it. Along with everything else. Good. Bears. Ha! The cooler was the mightiest, one fit for the prince of power. It was a wise purchase no matter what William had told him. ”For a date!” he said truthfully this time he elaborated. ”And because I’m worried about you.”
Hercules patted the checkered blanket he was sitting on and then went to the cooler removing a container of olives and another of cheeses followed by to mugs and a bottle of wine. ”You help remind me of my humanity, that I was once just a mortal. Allow me to do the same for you!” he said beaming and opening the bottle.
”Apologies again!” he roared as they flew. It took several throws, but eventually they flew past the city boundaries exposing the landscape to lush green and roads. Elizabeth needed this, and he needed her. She reminded him he was still mortal, and he had been dealing with the loss of the mansion in his own way.
There was a hill that took the impact of Hercules with a loud thud and he released his club and absorbed the impact of the landing so Elizabeth felt little. Once he was happy he set Elizabeth down gently and beamed. The top of the hill that was the clearing was surrounded by shrubs and large trees. Ones even the demi-god had to stare at. They weren’t there yet. This was just the landing zone.
Leaving his club Hercules gestured towards a walkway nearby. ”I thought this would be good for both of us!” Hercules said beaming and walking down to the path making sure not to damage any of the plant life with his massive stride. The path that led them was easy enough to find but Hercules looked around, now lost as to where he put the blanket and basket both of which were in a large cooler that was supposedly bear proof.
”The trees are misleading...” Hercules said looking around as the sound of a dozen birds chirped nearby.
There was some hesitation with the answer. Hercules picked up on it but then realized the last time he saw the man was when Hercules ‘died’. It was true. It took some time for the prince of power to rematerialize on the current plane of existence but he was doing his best not to draw too much from the masters. Rex had freed the demi-god from the plant it’s roots deep. Fire was the only solution. Something Hercules was grateful for.
”Apologies, my friend.” Hercules helping William right himself in the chair which the teen swatted his massive hands away. Herc smiled, ”As I said I was... disposed of at the time. But I am always willing to listen.” was it praying when he heard the calls? The masters and potential new ones. It was one of the few things he loved about his curse.
”Should you wish to be able to call on me-” “Herc...” William said as he pointed to one of the few statues in the room. it was then Hercules and William looked around. Both of which were surprised by the lack of... relics of the past.
Hercules’s temper started to show. ”How? The battle was a distraction?” he thought they were there for him. Maybe they were? Robbing the place was just an added benefit. Hefting the first statue he placed it where he recalled it before and dusted off some of the chipped marble.
“Shadow is still trailing them. We can get the items back.” William said closing his eyes and visualizing his connection with the hell hound. The blue spectral owl landed on William’s shoulder and let out a loud ‘screeee’ William opened his eyes and saw Hercules lifting the second statue and walking it back into place. He also saw a group of security guards running towards them.
Turning immediately William shouted, “They robbed the place! Oh my god! Everything is gone!” the blue spectral owl vanished almost instantly.
“Whoa. Cool” WIlliam said as the sword of fire and light appeared and drove into the enchantment that caused them all to float. ”Marvolous!” Hercules roared in awe. It was clear that Rex had improved his magic since they had last seen each other.
“Wait.” William said as the man stabbed it. Looking around statues were floating, they were floating. “****” the boy said as Hercules felt the pull of gravity first followed by the statues. The blue spectral owl held onto Rex and lowered him down gently as gravity pulled everything else down around them.
”Language!” Hercules said catching William and turning so the boy would land safely on top of the prince of power. The boy was light, even lighter without his chair. A statue slammed into the ground followed by a few more. Cracking the floors where they landed. Some statues were damaged. The wheelchair slammed to the ground next.
”That was exquisite Rex of the Inferno! No, Rex of the burning blade!” he said giving the man another title and pushing himself up. Getting up and lifting William with one arm he reached for the chair and put his young master into it delicately. ”When did you discover you could do that? My teachings eh?” he said looking back to William, ”I am a good teacher of magic.” Hercules said almost boasting.
William sighed and rolled his eyes, “Sure, Herc. Can you move the statues back?”
The touch was welcomed and met with a smile. Hercules made a note not to comment on her form for some time. It seemed it brought up hesitation in the woman. Understandable, Aphrodite was similar in that regard. The prince of power found it easier to not comment on her appearance when around her after all she heard it all before. Just as Celeste must have being a ‘trophy’. She was more than that.
Hercules practically choked on his chicken tender as he started to chuckle. Beating his chest twice and clearing the pathway he continued to laugh. ”I am no, Adonis.” nor did he want to be. The man was selfish, cold and only cared for himself. He was the definition of hubris and cared not for mortals. ”I am Hercules.” he chuckle turned to a smile and he finished one of the tenders.
”The Breach.” he nodded at the name and looked around for it. Not seeing it at first glance Hercules looked back to Celeste.
”May I accompany you back to work after you break is over? I would very much like to see this breach and the clothing temple meant for demigods!” he said wondering if he’d run into any of his extended family. It was doubtful. They were not on this plane of existence with him. They chose to leave it .
”Aye, just one!” the prince of power said before holding up his hand for his club. “No,” William said cutting Hercules off before summoning his club. “It will break everything.” ”But it’s heavy, no mortal but I can lift it. Meaning it should weigh Rex of the Inferno down.” Hercules said proudly boasting of his plan as he floated near the pair of them.
The blue spectral owl flapped it’s wings flying over to Rex. Grabbing onto the man’s shoulders it turned him to face the ground and then flapped a few more times till it pushed the man right above the source of the spell. The enchanted paper.
“Can you burn it?” William asked now spinning through the air till he bumped into Hercules who was sulking from his idea not being appreciated. The boy apparently got motion sickness. Something Hercules would ask him about later.
Hercules caught William and held on to the boy’s wheelchair should the spell fade before any of them were more prepared . No harm would come to William while Hercules drew breath. Kicking his legs Hercules moved through the air as if he was swimming in clay. Slowly, and in no particular direction. ”The club is still my solution.” he said bitterly.
”Wonderful. I’m truly happy to hear that.” Hercules said swallowing another mouthful finishing yet another plate. His caloric intake was vast, it needed to be to give him the strength to draw less power from his masters. The less he could pull from them the better.
”I’m sure it is because they can see only what others dream about. The expanse of the universe before their eyes. It truly is a sight to be hold.” he said nodding his head. The more she talked about being a trophy the more guilty Hercules felt for gazing upon her in wonder.
”To find balance.” the prince of power said with a chuckle. Even god’s searched for it. Even if he’d be more useful helping one of his masters or stopping a crime. Today was a ‘self-care’ day. Whatever that meant. ”All of the masters are busy today. They have no need for me and wished I go off and ‘find something to do’.”
The plate of chicken tenders moved in front of him as he started to dip the biggest one in some BBQ sauce. The sauce was a marvel to him. ”Maybe I shall shop today! Tell me Celeste does your shop have clothing for someone of my.... bulk?” he asked flexing one of his arms. The shirt around his bicep let out a loud grown as it started to tear.
The prince of power roared with laughter at the mention of his uncle... well not his uncle the man had taken up the ‘codename’ for it. Hercules still didn’t understand the concept of code names but understood it was supposed to help the X-men maintain their identities even if they didn’t cover their faces.
”Aye, I have met the man who goes by the name. The name suits him. He’s very powerful from what I could tell. He and Sam of the Rime, put on quite a show in our last battle.” that didn’t save the school but it was still very impressive. While he didn’t speak directly to Neptune, Hercules liked to think they would have gotten along because they all had mutual friends. Maybe Hercules should reach out to him? It wouldn’t be anything like when he and his uncle teamed up.
The titan slayer took a bite of his fried chicken covered in sweet and sour sauce before responding further. ”I did not know he was also a police officer. It seems many of the X-men live double lives being so busy.” it just showed how much they made the world a better place. Something that warmed the ancient Greeks heart. Should he be banished from this era there was comfort in knowing that there were many who could take up his mantle as protector of humanity.
Tanned skin creased as Hercules frowned at her... profession? Was it one? He wasn’t sure. But knew all too well of someone wanting someone else for a trophy. He himself had been considered one by kings and queens a few times. Back before he was a god. Even after he ascended, once the curse was upon masters fought for his power and liked to show it off. Some being crueler than others in the process.
”That.... sounds... difficult.” the son of Zues suddenly felt bad for wanting to watch her beauty. ”I am truly sorry.” she was here now though meaning she had a new life. One where she wasn’t a possession. One where she was a person. ”Well I am glad that Celeste is here now.”
Another bite and the child of Olympus asked, ”I trust your knew job is better than being a trophy?” if not the Hercules was determined to help any way he could. Maybe his master Serena needed a new assistant?
The god roared ferociously as he pulled the last turret from the top of the of the overturned vehicle wielding both now in his hands. A few mystics ran close but he batted them away with ease. Maybe there was something to these weapons. They were heavy and packed quite a punch. “Know that today you face a god! Ha yes! Come at me!” he smacked a few more mystics away when he saw the flames overhead illuminating the sky more and revealing more mystics flying over head. They were heading to the mansion. His new home and the location of William and Elizabeth.
Before he could call his club he heard the call from one of his masters Serena, her voice faint but the feeling was there. She needed help and it sounded like there was someone worthy of fighting him. Roaring with laughter and a bloodlust (different when he was at the dog fighting ring) he had not felt in some time Hercules jumped back towards his master Serena.
“You have summoned, master!?!” dropping one of the massive magic guns by her side he looked to the one who was squaring off with one of the children from the mansion. A skunk girl. Before she could say anything else Hercules understood. His glow strengthened as he summoned his might. Jumped again and cratered to where they mystic was ignoring the fire and wind around them. “Welcome to the gun show!” Hercules roared and swung the gun at him the way he would his club.
