The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

They kissed…
And kissed…
And kissed…
Oh man they kissed. It was one of those kisses that Riley had been previously sure didn’t exist. There were all those hokey romance novel things. The butterflies were back in force, goose bumps were running up her back as Aurum’s hands settled on her hips, and maybe, just maybe she felt a little weak in the knees.
Just about then, the kiss broke, the phone stopped ringing, and the rest of the world decided to show back up. Aurum said she was welcome, and Riley smirked to the sound of…
…Sirens.
….Screaming.
….Zombies?
That sound...that sound was not a good sound.
The smirk on Riley's face faded to a worried frown, and Riley glanced towards the street.

"Huh?"
Sirens. Screaming. No smirking.
Everything registered, all at once.
His hand dropped to his pocket, and freed the cellphone. He checked the text message that had suddenly come his way. An address, and a message. A single word confirmed it all. "Zombies." The message was from...
"Ami." There was a sudden weight in his stomach. "Something's up. She sent me a message. Zombies. I need to go."
When had he stepped away from her and broken the closeness and the warmth they'd both seemed to be enjoying? And why was the night suddenly colder? He had objections to all of that.

When had it gotten so cold?
People were screaming, lots of people, and Aurum was checking the phone that had been ringing a few moments before. While they’d been kissing, in fact.
It had been his sister. The one who had made the spaghetti, and the bread…
For the second time that hour, he'd been surprised by something unexpected. Unexpected, because... well, actually. Why was this surprising again?
"I don't want you getting hurt, Riley." Aurum emphasized.
He frowned because this wasn't surprising. He knew her. She'd tagged along when they were being shot at, even if he might have been dragging her partially, and she hadn't ran when they'd investigated Lonnie. She wasn't the type to back down without a fight.
She wouldn't easily back down, but him? He wouldn't easily put a beautiful woman in danger. He was just a gentleman like that. And a pig.

Riley stared at Aurum as he told her no, one eyebrow lifting to her hairline as if to inquire what say he thought he had in the matter. He was nuts if he thought a kiss (no matter how good it was) entitled him to tell her what to do.
”Don’t be ridiculous.” she said, already reaching down to pull off her heels one at a time.
”If this is a mutant thing….” she said, pausing long enough to give her date a look, ”And in New York it’s always a mutant thing…then I can probably help.”
That said and done, she started walking towards the door they’d come through when they’d made their way to the roof. ”Where’s the address?”

...
Well.
It looked like there was no way to dissuade her. She was truly Riley. And really...
Truth be told, he was kind of glad.
Aurum chased after her, rattling off the address while they went downstairs.
"We'll need my van," He said, pausing as they stepped out of the front doors, onto the sidewalk by the street. He looked around. It was a mad house. "Um. Maybe..." He watched a man being chased by no less than three zombies. "We should help these people out on the way..."

Good. One of the things Riley liked about Aurum was that when she proved he was being an idiot, he sucked it up and acted right. They went down the stairs, and Aurum talked the whole way about vans and addresses, and helping people.
Riley’s first instinct was to ask why they needed to help anyone. The two of them were going to be fine…but that simply wasn’t going to be something that Aurum could handle. So, as they went out into the street, she decided something. They’d deal with this as fast as they could. That had been a good…no a great kiss, and these zombies had effed everything up.
On the street, chaos reigned supreme, and Riley had to guess that either this was a real zombie outbreak or she was the only “adapted” in the area.
”One way to find out….” she muttered to herself, then did the only rational thing.
She bum rushed a zombie. One of the three chasing the man that Aurum was watching, in fact.
As she ran at it, yelling and trying to hike her dress to place in her legs where she could run, the zombie turned and made for the fresh meat. It stumbled, grumbled, and lurched until it was right at about 4 ft away from the dark haired woman in the dress.
Then it fell flat on its face and didn’t move.
Riley stopped running and stared for a moment, then smirked back at Aurum.

Riley just smiled at Aurum’s comment. At least his mind was off the fact that his sister had sent him a clipped text message with an address and not much else. They would get there, and everything would be fine. Especially now. Experimentally, Riley stepped away from the zombie and watched to see if it would get up.
It didn’t, so she trotted back to Aurum.
”Let’s go get your sister.” she said, making her way back to Aurum so they could get to the van.

Well... He supposed they didn't have to help ALL the people, if it would take too long, and keep them occupied doing something suboptimal with their time. As opposed to something optimal. Like spending Halloween alone with Riley.
Maybe if they passed close enough by zombies, her aura would stop them on the way by?
Aurum unlocked the van.
"Make sure to stick your hand out the window and see if you can do that thing you do to any other zombies you see as we drive through town..." He commented as they got in and he started the vehicle.
They pulled away from the curb, and into the night.
