The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Both Daria and Kitty were siezed in telekinetic holds, with about a dozen tickling telekinetic 'fingers' tickling them, constantly moving and never stopping.
*Hairpin's pigtails darted towards Mike, and simultaniously, Dafi ran down the back of his shirt. Mostly what she was thinking about right at this moment, was that she now had a real family, and this was the happiest moment of her life. Ironically, earlier that day was the worst moment of her life, now for the moment completely forgotten.*

Daria was laughing so hard she almost cried. As odd as it looked, with Hairpin and she floating in the air, the little girl's ponytails flying around and a rabbit crawling beneath Mike's clothes, it was a warm moment. A warm mutant moment.
Daria teleported right next to Mike, grabbing his arms to try to keep him from escaping from Hairpin's hair and Dafi.
Ah, crap... Mike laughed, blocking the pigtails with his power, but not being able to do a damn thing about Daria or Dafi. Struggling away, he managed to yank off his shirt to get Dafi in the open, then spun on Daria, going for the super-ticklish spot he'd found on her hip a few days before.

Daria shrieked again and tried to escape but Mike had her firmly.
"Oh no! He's got me!" she said over dramatically. "Save me!" Daria cried out to Dafi, betweeen laughs. The rabbit just stared blankly at her and then began to dance. Daria laughed harder now "My Hero!" she muttered.
Mike redoubled his efforts, but he couldn't do anything to stop Kitty. Eventually, he lost his grip on Daria.
And all in all... he hadn't been this happy in... now that he thought of it, he hadn't been making a habit of being happy until recently, but this was probably one of the happiest moments he could remember.
"Hey, hey, WHOA!" Mike fought the, er, rabbit in his pants, but couldn't really do anything about it, short of shedding them too, which he wasn't about to do in the presence of an 11-year-old.
He was laughing hysterically. "Okay, this is bad," he gasped.

Daria backed up when Mike let go and watched the rabbit scurry. A feeling of warmth flowed over her. She had thought perhaps Kit-kat could replace her cousins and the children she used to babysit but instead something very different happened.
She had simply made a new family. So Daria was safe at the mansion. No attacks from giant clay creatures could change that. She was important, she was needed and so she would stay. She would stay and laugh freely.
She would be happy.
Reaching forth she touched the place where Dafi was and teleported the Rabbit into her hands. "You silly rabbit!
*Hairpin laughed and jumped into Mike's arms.* "I love you two!" she exclaimed, smiling. Dafi shot out of Mike's pantleg and performed a flying leap towards Daria, doing several flips in the air.

Daria smiled at the little girl, hugging the rabbit close.
"AWWW. And I was actually worried about you not likeing me after I had to leave so soon." she grinned and purred stepping closer to brush back the girl's bangs. "I love you too, Kit-Kat." Dafi pushed Daria's nose in with her paw.
Mike just smiled as he hugged the both of them. He gave Daria a small kiss, then kissed the top of Kitty's head. Moments like this were heartwarming for anyone... to someone who could feel emotions like he could feel the wind blowing, they were completely overwhelming.
"I think this is what we're supposed to be here for. Screw the super-baddies and military assholes. We're supposed to be here to be family for the rest of the kids who don't have one, and to keep them safe." He smiled, taking deep breath, a single tear running down his cheek and onto Daria's sweatshirt.

Daria wiped the tear from his cheek.
Yeah, I guess you're right. So many of these kids come here with nothing-like we did. I was so busy looking for someone to be a family to me, I never thought about being a family to someone else. Until I met you guys. Sometimes we get so focused on protecting the body, we forget to protect the hearts.
"Oh Mike, Daria, guess what I learned in my first class today?" Hairpin said exitedly. Dafi perked her ears. Class was NOT fun for Dafi, she had to sit on the desk throughout the period. "Guess, guess, guess!" squeeled the young girl.
Entering the kitchen silently was a mutant whose appearance was unlike most. The abnormal coloring of pretty much everything about her, except her eyes, were tall tale signs that this being was a mutant.
A hidden self conscious fear of how others might react to her appearance Dia stayed silent for the most part. The only person she knew was Mike though she would be polite and say hello to everyone there. "Hi." Her voice was barely above a whisper. One might think this gray pigmented female had laryngitis.
