The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>”Just make sure you turn it in on time, I don’t want to have to tell Twyla that your neglecting your classes, I taught her a new throw and I hate to see her use it on you…”
Maya's grin widened. "That depends on the situation." she winked at her teacher. She would turn the paper in on time. Just in case. She kind of enjoyed writing papers too, Mom never made her do that. But she had an image to maintain as the resident troublemaker, so she wouldn't hand it in before the last minute... There was really nothing more to say about the paper.
"Ya make a great father figure" she grinned at Sam as he carried the little girl "Adorable. Hopin' to get good points with the ladies, parading down the hall like that?"
On their way to the Infirmary, Emerald elaborated on her story of the missing four weeks. Maya kept her mouth shut, glancing at Sam once in a while, trying to find something in the story that didn't fit the former version. She didn't make a real effort though - Doc will find out soon enough and heal the crap out of the werewolf if she was not telling the truth.
Maya entered the Infirmary together with Sam and Emerald. She didn't like being there, even when she was not hurt - the moment they walked through the door Doc's face looked like the horizon before a hurricane and Maya had an urge to whine "I'm sorry". Even if she was not the patient this time. She stepped a half step back, both hiding behind the werewolf and standing between her and the door in case she decided to bolt. Not like she could have stopped her.

Nodding his head as the three of them walked down to the infirmary Sam mentally noted the story and remained silent again. If that was her story he had no reason to argue it yet, he knew that her personality wasn’t really the type to sit around without doing anything when someone was starting trouble. One thing of note was the lack of gang members when she first told the story. He smirked slightly and added, ”Your friend isn’t named Aiden by any chance is he?” Sam asked hoping that his tiger shifter and her tiger shifter weren’t one in the same. If so he doubted Emerald would just come out with just a scratch. Aiden was always a dirty fighter to begin with.
Knowing full well that Emerald didn’t appreciate him asking her questions Sam remained where he was, with them. It was his job after all to keep an eye on everyone on the team or potential members of the team, and seeing as Emerald was once on the team and soon to be reinstated with the team he had to what he could to make sure she was staying out of trouble and instead of following her around all the time him asking questions was the next best thing.
When Maya commented on his potential to be a father figure he shot her look saying, ‘want to say that again?’ he had no idea how to be a father and he doubted it would be anything anyone could do. He never did have a father growing up so the whole learn by watching was impossible for him. The closest thing he had to a father figure growing up was Jackson and he would just as soon put a bullet in between Sam’s eyes before he would offer a hug. Adding a quick smirk to Maya he laughed, ”Seems to be getting your attention…” he left it at that and entered the Infirmary when they approached it.
Walking forward to Doc with a smile he smiled, ”Nothing is my fault this time, I need you to take a look at Kara here, I think she had a fever, pretty sure it just broke, and Emerald needs you to take a look at her cheek… seems she got into a scuffle with a tiger shifter…” Sam said as he looked to Maya hiding behind Emerald. He smirked and looked to the Doc, ”Oh, and expect a bed for Maya in a few hours I have an intense session planned for her.” Sam said looking over to Maya with a grin.
Before Sam could say anything he felt a hand graze the back of his head. Looking up he saw Doc’s hand move into a folded arm as he gave Sam a stern look, ”Just because I’m employed as a healer here doesn’t mean I look forward to seeing kids in here!” Sam grinned and then nodded his head ”Right,” but before Sam could offer a rebuttal Doc shook his head and waved his hands, ”Meh you never learn anyways!” pointing to Kara and then to the nearest table Sam followed direction and laid Kara down who was reluctant to let Sam go. Once he set her down Sam glanced a smirk to Maya, it seemed Maya and Sam both had a similar relationship with Doc.
Kara coughed and Doc shook his head, ”Common cold and fever symptoms she should be fine in a few hours with rest… Sam when you get a chance make her some soup let’s get some sodium into her sooner rather than later…” Sam nodded his head and took a step back so Doc could approach Emerald. ”Right… another regular is it? Haven’t seen you in a while Miss Lupin… have a seat…” Doc said as he walked over to the sink to wash his hands.
Before entering in the infirmary Emerald shook her head to the question about the tiger shifter. “Nah his name wasn’t Aiden. Why is there another Tiger shifter lurking about?” Emerald had asked just before the little quartet entered the infirmary.
Upon seeing the Doc, her tail began to wag a bit back and forth, even though she knew she would be in trouble. Docprof had always been a sort of male role model for her, especially while her parents were missing. He was the sort of stern father/grandfather figure the young wolf girl usually needed to whip her back into shape especially after a bad fight. This time though, was different than the other times she had visited him, this time, the pain she had wasn’t as much physical as it was emotional and unfortunately, she didn’t think the doc could heal that.
Sitting on her usual bed, Emerald waited for the good Doctor, watching the older man make his way over to the bed, examining the scratches on her face a little closer.
”You usually don’t let me heal something you know will scar Miss Lupin, whats different about this wound that you want it healed so badly?” The good doctor asked, looking into the younger woman’s eyes.
Emerald adverted her gaze for a moment, knowing that the stare of the kindly old man had broken her resolve more than once. It was obvious the two were close and it wasn’t surprising considering Emerald was in the infirmary so often the two had a great deal of time to talk. The wolf girl looked back up at the doctor, a disarming smile placed on her face. “Because, I don’t want anything to mess up my awesome face that’s why!” Emerald smiled a little, trying her best to be as disarming and as lighthearted as possible.
Docprof saw through this, but didn’t say anything, not until he touched her face, did he know of the real reason she didn’t want that scar on her face. He saw the flashes of the encounter with the wolf girl’s greatest enemy and once pulled out of visions of the cause of her wound he started to heal it staring at the girls face.
”You always had a habit of getting into bad situations, did you Miss Lupin?” Doc told her, despite not showing it on his face, his voice clearly showed that he was shaken by what he had seen. For a brief moment he took Emeralds hand and squeezed it, “Be careful okay?”
After Doc realesed her hand, Emerald felt her body relax considerably, glad the older man hadn’t said anything about the cause of her wound out loud. She slid off of the medical med touching her face lightly were the scars once were. Realizing they were indeed healed, Emerald smiled.
“I’ll be careful, I’m always careful!” Emerald replied with a sheepish grin on her face, hiding most of her worries behind a mask of wolfish glee. She made her way back over to Maya and Sam, tail wagging far slower than before, seeming almost docile now. Her tail showed more than her face did and it always had. “Alright, there I’m all healed up now I’m gonna go down to Moe’s dinner and get me a burger. Maya do you wanna come with? I can pick up some soup for the little one if you want Sam.” Emerald told the leader of the X men, still a little concerned about the young one.
>>”Oh, and expect a bed for Maya in a few hours I have an intense session planned for her.”
Maya opened her mouth to remind Sam she had a paper to hand in... but she didn't. Her profile was 'cheeky', not 'suicidal'. And they did have a session planned for later on, and it might as well be intense. It usually was. That's how she liked it.
Maya stood by the door, happy that Doc was not occupied with her for once. She watched ad Doc healed the wolf girl; but whatever he saw, he didn't share. He seemed shaken, and that just proved more of Maya's suspicion: Emerald was not telling the truth. At least, not all of it. She glanced over at Sam to see if he had the same feeling.
>>“Alright, there I’m all healed up now I’m gonna go down to Moe’s dinner and get me a burger. Maya do you wanna come with? I can pick up some soup for the little one if you want Sam.”
"Yea sure let's go." Maya nodded. It was not like she was hungry (or hungrier than usual), but if she had a chance to talk to Emmy alone and maybe get some details out of her, she was willing to take it. It also gave them a chance to get good points from Sam. And maybe if she managed to get Emmy to drink something stronger than tea... Hmm.
"Don't worry Doc I'll take care of her." she grinned, anxious to get out of the infirmary as soon as possible.

It was spot on… the way Doc interacted with Emerald, he knew something was up as well something that he could see in her eyes something that both he and Sam wanted to know. It was suspicious to Sam that if she did indeed stay with a healer why didn’t she have her face healed back then? Sam continued to remain silent till Doc gave her a reassuring smile after he healed her. Even if Doc had one of the best poker faces in the world it was still a façade one that Sam had been able to read recently. He didn’t show that she was in trouble but he did show he was worried, and the way he grabbed her hand… that said more than words could.
”It’s alright I’ll make something for her here…” Sam said as he looked from Kara to Emerald. ”I think we have a surplus of canned soup anyways…” looking to Doc and then to Maya he kept his serious face on when Maya seemed a little over egger to leave the infirmary. Turning his back to the girls to focus on Kara for a moment Sam waited till they left the room before he looked to Doc, ”Think I’ll make that soup now…” before Doc could say anything Sam was already out of the infirmary and quickly catching up to Emerald and Maya.
It was only a few seconds since they left the infirmary so the distance between them wasn’t too far, a distance Sam closed within a few seconds. ”Emerald!” Sam said as he placed a hand on her shoulder, ”I need to talk to you real quick!”
Everything was going according to plan, no one was questioning her, no one was asking her anything to hard for her to answer. Now that she was out of the infirmary and away from Cold Steel, Emerald knew she would be relatively in the clear unless Maya decided to get her drunk again. Being relaxed and far more calm than before Emerald was walking besides her friend, in the mood to eat a nice big hamburger from Mo's and get caught up on the local goings on since she had been gone. It was then Emerald felt a hand on her shoulder and once recognizing the voice and the scent of the owner, her body went on autopilot.
Upon the touch, Emerald's mind instantly replayed the attack in her mind, causing a low, panicked growl to escape the females lips. The shoulder CS touched was the same shoulder that had the large gouge wound from Bloodfang's maw, marking her as his property. It still wasn't fully healed yet, so a wince of pain also made its way of the female's face, just before she turned around. Without thinking, or hesitating Emerald pushed the offending person away, hard, instincts taking over her body's movements. His hand was on me, hes gonna hurt me, not gonna let him hurt me, not gonna be hurt again Emeralds jumbled and panicked thoughts made her believe what she was doing as a means to escape her "attacker"
More panic and more fear flitted across the females face, despite how she tried to hide it, she looked as if she was a frightened animal backed into a corner. Sam was an unfamiliar male, he was also a male that Emerald didn't exactly have a good relationship with and the possibilities of him wanting to hurt her were far higher in her mind than the possibility he just wanted to talk. Thoughts of Bloodfang's attack flashed before her eyes and a low wolf like whine escaped her throat.
"Not again, Not again." She growled, though the growl sounded far more like panicked than it did intimidating, this was when Emerald Lupin bolted, shifting into her wolf form as she did so.
It should be noted that in wolf form, the wounds the female had were far more clear than hey had been when she was wearing clothes, the shoulder Sam had touched had a large chunk of fur missing and looked like someone took a bite out of it. She also had other parts of her fur covered form that had parts of fur missing, where bandages were placed.
Running out the door and into the starts of a summer rainstorm the wolf bolted onto the mansion grounds, getting far enough away from he building that she could rest without thinking of being caught. The wolf sat beneath a large oak tree, rethinking what she had done, shaking her head a little at herself. Why had she panicked like that? Was it because that she believed Sam would hurt her? The animal side of her brain seemed to think so and when he touched her shoulder, that shoulder with the wound, he triggered some sort of flashback.
Emerald thought about her Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from the labs and how she couldn't go into a hospital because of it. Did this mean any guy she didn't really trust would trigger something like that? What sort of life would that give her? A mournful howl escape the wolves maw, making it almost sound like a low cry of sorrow. Emerald laid down beneath the tree, looking up at the sky as thousands of water drops dripped off of the trees leaves and onto her fur. The cool rain soaked her fur but she didn't care, maybe the pain of the past months experiences could be washed away if she stayed out here in the rain.
Maya could tell a split second before Sam's hand touched Emmy that it was a very bad idea. She wasn't even sure how she knew, but she would have bet her life on it, and she would have won. The wolf girl bolted, more in panic than Maya had ever seen her; she just had enough time to jump out of the way as the wolf tore down the hallway.
"EM!" Maya glanced back at Sam, already running towards the nearest mirror "I got this."
Again, the feeling she couldn't really explain. She was just pretty sure Sam couldn't do anything to make this situation better. Quite the opposite.
Hopping from mirror to mirror, she reached the front door just in time to see the shadow of the wolf disappearing in the rain. "Oh hell." she didn't really have time to stop and think about it; grabbing a coat hanging by the door she was already running after Emerald.
"Emmy?..."
She didn't shout. There was no use, besides, she didn't want other students or teachers running after them. Especially not Sam. She was sure the werewolf could hear her anyway. Rain was pouring down now; Maya's clothes soaked in no time, and she still had the coat bunched up in her hand.
(CS you can post at any time, i just had to get this post out first)
Emerald stayed under the tree for a while in wolf form, thinking deeply about things as the rain slowly began to let up. The wolf gazed up at the sunlight as it streamed through the holes in the branch and leaf covered skyline, giving the tree covered grounds an almost enchanted feel to them. Her nose turned upwards upon catching a scent, previously hidden by the rain. She also heard the call of her name, making her wolven ears perk up a little bit. At first, she didn't want to respond, she didn't want her adopted younger sibling to see her like this, so alone, so damn weak. It made her cringe to think about how terrified she looked back there and how that must have looked.
Finally, after much deliberation, the wolf walked toward the person that was calling her name, bursting out of the underbrush while shifting into human form. She ended up on the side of the mirror teleporter and she gave a sort of sad half wave. Emerald was soaked to the bone her crimson hair clinging onto her face from the rain. Her deniem jacket hung loosely on one shoulder while one shoulder, the shoulder Sam touched showed he large gash wound from the bite from Bloodfang, still not completely healed yet and look particularly gruesome as if someone tore the skin off. If Emerald hadn't been in wolf form at the time of the panicked escape she would have likely would have started crying, which would have furthered her embarrassment. She hated not being strong and she hated what Bloodfang did to her every time she thought of him.
"I'm -I'm sorry for making you worry about me." Emerald told her "adopted" sibling, guilt filling those blue eyes of hers. "I'm sorry for lying ,I'm just..." Emerald trailed off looking down at her feet, she was shaking, clenching her fists at her side. The pain in her voice was evident and it was clear that she was indeed hiding something big. "I'm just really scared right now and I don't know what to do!" She admitted, more so to herself than anyone else. The wolf girl's voice sounded like she was yelling at herself more so than at Maya, as if she was blaming herself for what had happened to her. Emerald Lupin was an emotional wreck and she what needed now, more than ever, her pack.
Maya jumped when the wolf burst through the bushes, but relaxed the moment she shifted back into her human form. Only the worry was left as she hurried over to Emerald, glancing at the wound on her shoulder before she wrapped the coat around her. It was damp, but since she'd had it rolled up, the inside was more or less dry. Definitely less dry than Emerald herself.
>>"I'm -I'm sorry for making you worry about me. I'm sorry for lying ,I'm just... I'm just really scared right now and I don't know what to do!"
"Shhh, 'tis okay." she muttered, hugging her. It was strange, Mirror was not used to girls of her age being taller and stronger than she was... but it was Emerald, after all, not just any girl. A werewolf. Currently, a very broken one.
"'tis okay, Ems, I'm here." she sighed, rubbing her back, careful to avoid the wound on her shoulder "An' I'm sorry too."
She was starting to put the pieces together. Not all of them. Some of them.
When the coat was draped around her shoulders Emerald was about to protest to the fact she wasn't cold or anything when a hug was given. The wolf girl took in a deep breathe as it was given, leaning into the hug slowly. Though she had grown since her last encounter with Mirror, it would seem the amount of scars she had, grew as well, certain scars that could easily be missed if not seen up close. Light scratch marks up and down her neck, underneath her chin several healing bruises lined the outline of her jaw as well as another gnarly looking scratch that traced down her neck but looked to be healing with the help of stitches, similar stitches to other wounds she had in the past. When Emerald woke up for the first time after "Asleep" She hadn't noticed all of the wounds she had when she woke up, but once she was fully awake she realized her good friend bloodfang had not only damaged her while she was awake but while she was unconscious as well.
"What do you have to be sorry about?" Emerald asked, trying to cheer herself up a little, even if it was in vain. Once she was asked about what happened, she knew she could no longer lie. "Bloodfang found me again, and "Played" with me." Emerald explained, shaking at the mere mention of the males name. She managed to stop shaking after some time, but the way she stood, the way she had been acting practically screamed parts of the events that occurred.
>>"Bloodfang found me again, and "Played" with me."
Maya's expression was filled with pain. She knew she couldn't even begin to imagine the horror the wolf girl had to go through, let alone go through it again. It was something that made one of the strongest people she knew tremble in fear. Maya suddenly felt a flare of anger. How dare he lay a hand on my family.
"That's it, that motherf**** is going down." she hissed, gritting her teeth. If she had to hunt him down and kill him with her bare hands, she would.
She looked at Emmy with her many scars on her skin, and much more underneath, and sighed. So much about anger, the pain was back.
A small smile crept across Emerald's lips when Maya mentioned how Bloodfang was going down. She was glad that she had friends that cared so deeply about her. The smile disappeared however when Maya was trying to figure out what exactly the male did to the wolf girl. Part of Emerald was really hesitant about telling any more than she had to, but the other part knew that if she didn't talk about it, she would be more hurt in the long run.
"Worse than it's ever been before, managed to rip a bit of his tongue out of his damn mouth though." Emerald told her adopted sibling, trying to feign bravery in her voice but the way her voice was trembling showed how much truly happened to her.
"I was...drowning in my own blood when Shift found me, just in time again with most my clothes were ripped. I don't remember much about what happened when Shift found me, last things I remember hearing besides the crunching of my bones was his damn voice saying. "Ooohhh my dear, I love how your fear makes you unable to fight me, and you just sprawled out there makes you look far more tantalizing. Don’t go to sleep now, my precious puppy, we have so many more fun things to do before you sleep” " Emerald explained, her body starting to shake again, the young werewolf's fear and terror ebbed off of her in waves. Her voice shook in spite of the fact she was trying to make it sound as calm as possible. Holding onto her friend tighter, fearing as if she wasn't careful, Maya was going to disappear.
"I keep thinking about it...I keep thinking I'm gonna wake up tied to the wall and find out I was never saved in the first place. I keep feeling his cold hands on me and I keep thinking this is all some sort of dream and that I'm actually still in the back of my truck and hes hurting me." The wolf girl whimpered, was shaking so badly it was almost painful to watch. This was what this male did to her, he broke her powerful appearance and made her feel, for the first time in a long time, helpless and weak, unable to help herself.
"I'm so sorry, Ems." Maya muttered, holding the wolf girl. Her grip grew tighter, almost crushing, but as long as it was comforting her, it was worth the pain. "I'm so sorry."
The things Emerald said were more dreadful than anything she'd ever heard; Maya had no idea how to deal with things like that, or how to ease the pain. If it was even possible.
I'm not crying.
Mom used to do this, when Maya was little, and she came to her scared, or hurt. She didn't exactly say anything. Maya didn't either, now, just murmured softly, things that were comforting, but almost too quiet to be heard. She ran her hands up and down Emmy's back, humming some soothing tune that wasn't even a tune. She stood there with her for long minutes, or maybe hours, it was quite hard to tell. Finally, she pulled back to look at the wolf girl.
"All right, Ems, let's go back inside an' get ya cleaned up, okay?" she sighed "Ya'll need some dry clothes too. C'mon."
It was odd to tell someone all of that at once, not lying or trying to make it seem like it wasnt as big of a deal as it was. Emerald wasn't used to being, hugged or being soothed by anyone besides members of her family and sometimes Twyla. The hug and the humming made the wolf girl just relax, instead of panicking about an event that happened merely a month ago. Blue eyes slid shut as she leaned against her friend, allowing herself to show that she was at ease with Mirror. She did not cry though, For some reason, her tears would not fall.
"Alright, want to get something to eat still?" The wolf girl asked, obviously trying to regain her composure. Her body wanted her to cry but she was forbidding herself from doing so holding back tat pain like she had come accustomed too.
"Yeeah, look, Ems, I don' really wanna sound bossy or anythin', but... you're gonna get your *ss back inside right now an' get dry an' cleaned up or I'll have to drag you all the way." she said, hands on her hips, but there was a shadow of a smirk on her lips "And then we'll get some food. We can order out too, I really don' care. C'mon."
Taking Emerald's hand in hers, Maya walked back towards the Mansion. She chose to go around to the back, to find a place where they could sneak in without running into anyone, especially Sam. She was really going to do anything and everything she could to help the wolf girl deal with... everything she'd been through. Step number one being making sure she doesn't get sick from running around in the rain like that. Talking about rain: Maya needed some dry clothes too.
They ended up in Emmy's room.
"Sorry for not doin' the 'my place or yours' round, but I've got a roommate now an' he's a pain when it comes to hot chicks in wet t-shirts." she muttered with a smirk.
