The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Mike and Daria sat at the table with their Chinese delivery in front of them. They evidently had expected people to come mooch off of their food, because the sheer amount in front of them was more than any two people could even dream of eating in fewer than four sittings.

Daria grinned.
"I am a very Happy Cat right now." she informed Mike handing him a paper plate-why do dishes? She reached for the rice and began to scoop some out onto her plate.
"Chinese is the ultimate lazy food... it's good and fancy enough that it doesn't qualify as fast food, it gets delivered like pizza, and it tastes better the next day," Mike said between bites of fried rice.

It got a grin from Daria thought, which was what he was aiming for.
"And apparently I like my guys corny." she stuck out her tongue and reached for a soda. She hadn't really drank anything since she mutated but milk and water- more the former than the latter. She wondered if a grape pop would make her sick.
"I wish you could tell the future." she mumbled to Mike as she popped the top of the can.
"Me too, it'd be nice to be able to pull some lottery numbers out of thin air," he teased, then got serious. "What's bugging you, babe?" Not that he found it hard to believe that something was eating at her, but there really were too many things for him to tell which one was on her mind at that moment.

Daria looked at him for a moment. "Actually I just wanted you to predict whether or not the soda would make me sick." she said sniffing it and putting it on the table.
What was bugging her? What wasn't bugging her. She didn't want to spoil the moment though.
Mike smiled slightly, then leaned over and kissed her cheek. "You remember a few weeks ago when I just broke down in my room after all the crap that had been going on?"
"I really was ready to just flop over and lay there for the rest of the day, just so I wouldn't have to deal with all the stuff going on outside my room. But then I started listening to you, and I realized that as long as I had you..." He shrugged and leaned over and kissed her again, "...Things couldn't be that bad. And strangely, it's still held true through... everything," he said, still not being able to refer directly to his grandfather being killed.
"Everything balances in the end... if we didn't have tears, we'd never know when we were happy," he finished, smiling slightly at her as he picked up his fork again.

Daria smiled and looked at him. "You are freakishly wise, Micheal. Its getting to be scary."
She took a small sip of her soda and swallowed making a hacking noise almost immediatly. The bubbles hurt her throat. She slammed the can on the table.
Mike smiled slightly and waved a hand. With a little telekinetic 'pop,' all the bubbles popped and the soda's gas dispersed harmlessly (and noiselessly) back up her throat. "I suppose I don't need future-vision anymore?"

Daria stared blankly for a minute at the reaction and her nose, ears and tail twitched simultaneously.
She laughed. "Yeah. Just when I thought about getting a new boyfriend..." she teased and stood to get a glass of water. Milk just didn't set well with chinese food.
"Oh, I see. Now that I'm good for defusing soda, I can stick around?" he grinned, giving her a telekinetic swat in the behind.
"The tea kettle ought to be boiling, if that'll work for you," he offered, seeing her heading for the sink. It floated up from the stove and was, in fact, boiling.
