The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Soon but not now, hunny.
Daria laughed as Sarah smirked.
"Oh please, Mike. I know how it goes, face it I'm growing up and its all a part of life." As is to prove her point she turned, waved and smiled at a cute little brown-haired boy with freckles who stood ner the kitchen entryway getting guys to play soccor. He blushed and smiled back then approached as if to ask her to join the game.
Daria was on it and bared her fangs and narrowed her eyes. The boy's blush faded to a palor and he promptly turned around.
Sarah was laughing hysterically.
"I'm glad you think that's funny." Daria said shaking her head.
"I do. I don't even like him. He always smells like pepperoni." She explained.
Daria laughed too, at that and then remmebered the soft smell of Mike's cologne. "It gets better." she assured.
"I know." Sarah said matter of factly. Then, as if none of it had happened she was a little kid again. "Are you going to eat that?" she pointed to Mike's fortune cookie.
Mike shook his head and she took it. "Great interests in love are coming your way if you watch out for them. All right!" she cheered. Mike just shook his head and groaned.

Daria cracked up. Aww, Mike. Hey every girl you've dated was somone's daughter and someone's sister. Imagine how they felt. "I think my fortune cookie said something about not using chicken scented shampoo when going to the beach." she joked. Sarah looked at her and frowned, unable to tell if she was serious. Daria shrugged. "I just ate it since it was chocolate flavored."
Sarah laughed and shook her head stufing the cookie in her mouth. She stood and walked across the table to grab the grape soda that had almost killed Daria. "Is this yours?" she asked them.
"It's mine. Yes, you can have it." Daria answered before giving Sarah a chance to ask. The girl sipped it and reached for more food. "Geez where are you packing it?"
And I could kick every one of those brothers or fathers' asses, so I'm exempt, Mike thought back, smirking.
He opened the remaining fortune cookie and read it. "The wise man does not dwell on the sitting duck... Oh what the hell is that supposed to mean, they're not even trying to make these sound deep anymore," he said, rolling his eyes as he crumbled up his fortune and ate the cookie.

Daria and Sarah laughed.
"You're so cranky Mike." Sarah said. "Cranky like an old man."
Daria nodded.
Perhaps it means that you shouldn't worry over something that isn't worrying over you. Ahem, like Sarah. If she's not concerned that she'll make a mistake anytime soon, you shouldn't either. She's like a child genius. Might be her mutation. Daria joked
Mike relented and smiled a bit. With all of the drama of the day he was more than a little stressed out, but hadn't really noticed how much he was showing it.
Her mutation is to overcome the curse of the Asters' family stupidity... I like it, Mike teased.
Sarah went on. "I don't know why Daria puts up with you, you're always so moody. You must doing SOMETHING right for her to put up with you like that."
Mike almost did a spit take with his tea as she said that.

Daria laughed.
"Sarah, don't be so hard on Mike. He saved my life for crying out loud. And he keeps me safe and happy so that I can keep other people safe and happy. It's all a chain thing."
"that wasn't the SOMETHING I was thinking about but alright." Sarah joked.
Wow. Kids these days. Mind is only focused on one thing. Daria was vaguely aware of how hypocritical that was of her to say but it was too late.

Daria looked too. She knew that when she and Mike spoke in their heads Mike made sure to only direct his thoughts to her so to have Sarah respond so conveniently to Mike's joke was..surprising to say the least.
"Um...Mike didn't say anything." Daria tested.
"He totally threatened to lock me in my room to keep me from guys. Did you not hear that? Don't you have like supersonic hearing or something?"
"Yeah but.." Daria shook her head and Sarah gave them an equally puzzled look. "....Mike never said it outloud."
Sarah looked between the two of them. "Okay, stop that. You guys had your joke for all of the little awkward moments I try to make, now stop it," she said, looking a little afraid.
"Honey, we're serious," Mike said, shrugging honestly. "You picked that one up straight out of my head."
"Stop it! This isn't funny!" Sarah protested, looking genuinely disturbed now.

Daria frowned. She thought Sarah would take it a bit better than this.
"Sweety, it's alright." Daria began but Sarah was already backing away from the table.
I have no clue what to do. Should I teleport her back over here to keep her from running away? Daria asked then quickly turned to Sarah to see if the girl had heard anything. She had forgotten that quickly.
"I'm NOT like you and Johnny!" Sarah yelled, drawing the eyes of the room before Mike tweaked them all and made them not give a damn what was going on. THen she looked angrily at Daria. "And I'll run if I want to!"
Mike shook his head. "She watched me get in constant trouble with the law and with all the people at my school because of my power, and... well, we all saw what a psychotic asshole Johnny turned out to be with his. I can't really blame her for being upset, I guess."
He sighed, toying pointlessly with his fork. "SHe'll cool down later... I think."

Daria immediately moved over to him and sat on his lap, pressing his head to her chest and running her hands through his hair. (Thanks to him she didn't feel any pain).
"I know she'll get better. After a while she'll remember that it was because of your powers that you were able to keep us safe and be an amazing older brother." she assured. "It's just shock."
