The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>>“Nope, I forgot it at home, but we can eat at Moe’s if you want. They know me there and sometimes hoodlums go and harass them, I kick their ass, I get free food”
Maya grinned "Nah, I'd rather see he sights first. I'm not that hungry yet." Besides, looking for trouble on a full stomach was never a good idea. She did have as much experience.
>>“As for a plan, we could eat or we could keep walking, you and I are a walking pair of Possible things to have sex with. We are also mutants, or at least I am noticeably one, so we are bound to find someone who wants to give us some trouble. Besides two bad ass girls with nice looking bodies are prime candidates for idiots who think they can be our lovers or what have you.”
Maya snickered. "Gosh do I know that kind. Ya jus' can't beat it into their heads that I'm not even playin' on that team."
The neighborhood looked deserted; it was too early for the big players to come out. Maya sighed and stretched, enjoying the walk. "So, what, ya do the whole superhero thing with the codenames 'n' all? Or is this jus' your way of lookin' for trouble?" she asked with a grin. Not that there was anything wrong with the latter.
With all of Maya's answers in mind, the wolf girl walked, not once wincing or looking as if she had been hurt in anyway. Emerald needed to get out of the mansion to realese some tension and this was definitely the place to do it. Sure it may have been stupid and reckless but at the moment the wolf side of her brain told her to go hunt, to go fight and to go win.
“Nah, thats X men crap and I'm not exactly too happy with my fellow X men at the moment, because I have to do some retry out B.S even though I was already a member of the damn team.” Emerald grit her teeth together, taking a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself down. “But this, this is my way of looking for trouble. I typically do this if I'm too frustrated with people. I enjoy raising hell against stupid people.”
A smile on the werewolf's face appeared when she fully realized what playing for the other team meant. It would appear that she knew people far better than she thought she did because she landed that one right on the nose. How she figured it out, she had no clue but it seems that she was ether a really good guesser or she was really good at observing people. With a wag of her tail, Emerald sniffed the air, trying to catch the scent of something interesting but so far, nothing.
“I had a feeling you were playing for the other team. “ Emerald paused for a moment, “Alright, honest question here because I have this has been happening to me a lot lately that and you have a view from both sides of the spectrum. You can also answer like a complete douche I don't care I'm just real curious. Why do guys and girls hit on me? I honestly don't see why, I'm not much of a fashion model most idiots want. I'm just a freaky looking teenager that works out 4 hours a day. Nothing special, I just know Im Emerald Amber Lupin, Renegade X man and I'm completely okay with that.”
It would seem that Emerald was rather confused about why she often got a sort of leering stare from some people. Though she was relatively comfortable with herself, though she still had times thought of herself as sort of a monster. Not that she told anyone that, but it was on the wolf days that her confidence in herself dwindled a little.
((I actually got really sad when I wrote this post. ))
>>“Nah, thats X men crap and I'm not exactly too happy with my fellow X men at the moment, because I have to do some retry out B.S even though I was already a member of the damn team.”
Maya looked at Emmy, a little bit surprised. She was member of the X-men? Not bad, even for a girl with her abilities. So she was playing with the big boys. And she didn't like it. Go figure. Maya had a feeling she was about to learn a whole new angle on being a full-time superhero.
>> “But this, this is my way of looking for trouble. I typically do this if I'm too frustrated with people. I enjoy raising hell against stupid people.”
"I hear ya sista" Maya grinned "It helps one to deal with problems better than any shrink ever." Because this happened to be her way of dealing with problems too. Beautiful friendship indeed. Common interests and all.
>> “Alright, honest question here because I have this has been happening to me a lot lately that and you have a view from both sides of the spectrum...”
It was an honest question. Maya never thought of herself as an expert on matters like this, but she could see why Emerald asked. So being a guy and a gal did have it's unique advantages. Who woulda thought.
"Ya kiddin' me?" she asked, smirking at the wold girl "Not everyone goes for models ya know. Some like the kickass redhead kind. I don't see your problem, but I can tell ya, bein' 'okay' with who ya are might be the key here."
That's right, not 'what'. Who. Because it was not about mutations at all. Also, Maya really didn't see the problem. Emmy was easy to like. All right, maybe only to weird people like herself/Gawain, but she was someone who didn't expect pretending from others. Plus she was a werewolf, and that was several shades of awesome.
"Actually, I think we're just too badass to get mugged, even if we're askin' for it." she summed up with a grin, looking around. No takers. How weird.
At Maya's answer Emmy smiled broadly, tail wagging back and forth. That had actually answered her question. Emerald was very confident in herself and thats most likely what attracted people to her, male or female. It was true that they had yet to see a bad guy, but it gave Emmy a chance to talk to Maya a little bit.
“Thanks for that Reflection Lass!” Emerald grinned as she grabbed the other girl and gave her a noogie. Why? Because Emerald felt like giving someone a noogie thats why!
Of course as soon as this happened, Generic Gang member one and Generic Gang member two decided they wanted in on the 'action.' What action? The action that involves two young women of course! Not that it was a surprise, considering that both girls looked like they were looking for trouble. Number one had a red bandanna, thin as a rail, looked about 25, wrapped around his forehead, funny looking nose and tattoos all over his body. Number two looked about the same but he had some piercings on him and he was also about 6'5 and built like the brawny man.
“Heeeeyyy Ladies, I see you have some girl on girl action going on can we join in?” Number one smiled, obviously gazing at the two teens with eager eyes.
Emerald realessed her friend from her friendly noogie and rolled her eyes. She had a feeling this would happen and even if it wasn't these guys it was bound to be some sort of idiots. The wolf girl cracked her knuckled, smiling as they made an audible cracking noise. Blue eyes gazed at the two unamused with their stupidity.
“Nope, we are all filled up, better luck next time boys, come on Maya lets go home, cuddle and eat Ice cream while watching Titanic.” Emerald looked like for a brief moment she was going to walk away and as soon as skinny reached his hand out toward her shoulder The wolf girl whipped around and punched him right in the face. The male staggered backwords clutching at his now bruise eye as he glared at the redhead.
“Oh so you girls like it rough do ya? Lets get em' Lenny!” He Told his companion who swung a punch at Maya
((feel free to control them and any buddies you want to come in))
Maya's face rearranged itself into the mix of a grin and a frown. Getting a noogie from a werewolf was not the best experience ever. But at least Emerald was cheerful again.
And their day got even better when the long expected stupid brats finally made their entrance. >>“Heeeeyyy Ladies, I see you have some girl on girl action going on can we join in?” Maya flashed him a sweet, brilliant smile as she smoothed the hair back from her face. "Where have you been all my life, cupcake?" she purred, heart rate already picking up as things finally started happening. She could feel Emmy shift her weight next to her.
>>“Nope, we are all filled up, better luck next time boys, come on Maya lets go home, cuddle and eat Ice cream while watching Titanic.” Maya gagged at that, even if it was a joke it still sounded horrible. Rolling her eyes at Emmy she played along and turned to walk. The next time she turned around a couple of seconds later, the wolf girl already got the first punch in.
>>“Oh so you girls like it rough do ya? Lets get em' Lenny!”
"Are ya guys stupid or somethin'?" Maya asked, still grinning as she dodged the puch aimed at her and answered with a kick to the shin "The lady has a wolf tail for ***'s sake!"
Apparently, these guys were down with a very bad case of a death wish. Both of them attacked again; Maya spun out of the way of the second punch, and kneeled the guy in the stomach.
Rock.
It was on. They might have pulled the punches at the beginning, their opponents being girls and all, but after they got hurt, all they saw was red. Maya managed to dodge once again, but she was not lucky enough; the guy who threw himself at her with his full weight managed to grab her jacket, yank her off balance, and the next thing she knew, she was pushed against a nearby wall, forehead colliding painfully with cold bricks. Stars, ringing ears, something warm dripping down her cheek, the whole deal. Maya turned around just to be pushed once again, this time her back hitting the wall. Yeah, well, this was part of the therapy too.
Now, there was difference between a good fighter and a skilled one. Emerald Lupin was a very skilled, dangerous fighter, judging by what she was doing to the poor skinny idiot who was attempting to fight Emmy .Despite the fact that he was able to get a few lucky hits in, it was obvious that all he knew about fighting was from kung fu movies because he yelled out several phrases before he attacked like jumping monkey kick as well as horses teeth. Emerald rolled her eyes as she fought him, not believing she had picked the brains of the two males and landed a kick square in his face, knocking him over. The male dropped like a rock and was unconsciousness from the kick of the wolf girl.
Em grunted in pain as she shifted too suddenly to turn to look to see how Mirror was doing. Apparently some of the lucky shots the skinny man got in irritated the already sensitive wounds on the wolf girls torso. So sudden turns and movement caused the female more pain than they had before.
A snarl left Emeralds mouth as she saw the thug throw Mirror against the wall. The she-wolf pushed the male away from her friend just as more thugs seemed to appear out of no where, grabbing the wolf girls arms and throwing her into the fray with 3 more thugs.
“Ya'll sure know how to treat a lady.” Emerald grinned wolfishly as she attacked the first one.
More thugs seemed to appear out of nowhere. Neighborhoods like this just grew them out of the concrete ground and the walls. It had a strangely mythological angle to it. Unfortunately right now Maya was too occupied to muse about it. Kicking her opponent back she pushed herself away from the wall. Emerald took care of the rest, sending the guy flying away from her, which gave Maya a second or too to pull herself together. When three new players decided to play dog pile on the wolf girl, Maya decided to join in once again.
>>“Ya'll sure know how to treat a lady.”
"Yeah, but ya... need to make a distinction.... between hittin' on a gal... an' just hittin'..." Maya added, making said distinction and delivering a series of punches onto various people until one of them decided to leave the wolf girl alone and turn his full attention to Maya. Grabbing her by the jacket - note to self, take off jacket before getting into a fight - he pushed her back, hard enough to send the girl staggering against the wall. Said wall, however, had a window on it, and this unimportant detail coaxed a wicked grin onto Maya's face a split second before she merged into her own reflection as her hand hit the glass. Another two seconds later, while the thug was blinking the surprise away, the girl appeared again in a first floor window and dropped on top of him. Well, at least I landed on somethin' soft. The guy was out like a light as soon as his head hit the ground, but the impact was still hard enough to make Maya dizzy for a few moments. No time out.
Next thing she knew, someone with nasty boots on kicked her in the ribs and sent her rolling on the ground. Before she could stand, she was kicked again. ****. Yeah, Emerald was right. No way to treat a lady.
Before Maya had gotten there, the three thugs that had practically piled on the wolf girl had managed to grab both of her arms and then start slamming their fist into her gut, knocking the wind out of her. Luckily though, Maya managed to get the punching one away, leaving Emerald alone with her two new buddies. Emerald snarled, taking this chance to sling one of them to the side. The male not even getting a chance to re grab onto the wolf girls jacket before he was sent sliding onto the asphalt. Emerald smiled at the remaining one who didn't look so tough now that he didn't have his friend to hold her other arm. Moving herself quickly Emerald lunged for the male, ingoing the pain of the fact her wounds that had been trying so hard to heal had now reopened, most likely starting to bleed. The man was thrown backward into a wall where he looked up at the werewolf with terrified eyes. Emerald would have dealt another blow to him if she didn't have that damn pain in her shoulder. She glanced at her shoulder and quickly realized the blood seeping through her jacket.
“Damn it,” She grumbled, she released the male who oddly enough high tailed it out of there and clenched her hand over the stab wound from the pitchfork a night before.
This was when she saw the one gang member she threw away was kicking her friend. A low feral snarl erupted from her throat and soon she found it was getting harder to control her third form. Quickly, Emerald dashed to the male, suddenly feeling her arm hurting far worse now than it did before. The wolf girl unzipped her jacket and threw it off just as her right arm, which was formerly wrapped in bandaged now morphed into a long fur covered arm with a massive claw like hand as big as the first man that attacked mirrors torso. It was covered in red and black fur and had long five inch claws protruding from it.
An enraged howl escaped the werewolf's throat as she grabbed the male by the torso, causing him to panic and begin to struggle. He made an attempt to stab into the paw that held him with a switch blade he managed to wiggle from his pocket but it would seem that the she wolf was far too angry to feel pain anymore. Emerald growled at him lowly before she loosened her grip on him to one of his arms, taking this chance to wrench his at an angle it shouldn't have been able to go and snap it. As the main screamed in pain Emerald used her full strength to slam him by his head down on the ground, hard enough to give him an concussion, but she was in enough control to not completely break this man.
“You...Okay Maya?” Emerald asked, her voice considerably more gravely and sounded more strangled than it did before. Emerald had managed to gain several cuts and bruises from the battle the most noticeable one being above her eye and on her nose as well as a reopening of her left shoulders wound, making her bleed quite a bit.
Maya rolled onto her back and looked up just in time to see the man had a very good reason to scream. She couldn't blame him one bit. God am I glad the werewolf's on my side.
"Whoa Emmy." she breathed, pulling herself up into a sitting position, and wiping some blood that dripped into her eyes from her forehead "Ya look like a movie star."
The thugs that could still move were busy running away screaming bloody murder. Maya leaned back against the nearest wall and took her time counting her ribs. "Damn why do they always go for the ribs?..." she muttered with a frown, then looked up again "Are there limits to your badassness, Emerald? Because I'd love to see them. Probably not now though." she added with a groan as she slowly pulled herself to her feet "I think I'm ready for breakfast. The kind that doesn't run."
If anyone wanted to pick a fight with them after this display of powers... well, they were most welcome to try.
“A movie star? From what movie the wolfman?” Em asked coyly
Emerald smiled a bit at Maya, the other girl managing to calm the werewolf down a little bit with her words. It wasn't night time yet so at the moment the beast was easier to control. Not only that but all their foes had fled so that didn't give Emerald any reason to become enraged and morph. She cringed a little as her arm morphed back into her human one, audible cracks and pops emitting from it as she did so. It was at this point she realized her burns on her arm all the way up to her shoulder had reopened. What Emerald also didn't notice was the fact that not only was her new wounds in view but if one looked at her arm all the way up to her shoulder they may see many long scars tracing down the females arm and near were her bandages started for the rest of her mangled torso. Emerald bent down and grabbed her jacket, wincing as she only caused her wounds to open wider.
Just when she was thinking, 'shit I'm gonna need a doctor for this' a small sound down the alleyway alerted her. The wolf girl swung her head to the sound and saw a small girl with blue eyes and blond hair standing their with a large bulging backpack, walking towards her. Emerald arched a brow at first, confused as all hell and but this was when she caught the familiar scent of cigarettes reached her nose.
“You know Miss Shift, maybe you should stop smoking those cigarettes if you want to sneak up on someone with animal senses.” Emerald's voice was playful and light despite the pain that was going through her arm.
The little girl giggled before speaking, however her voice was that of a full grown woman who had been smoking for most of her life and not a child. “It wouldn't be healthy if I stopped.” She explained, setting her bag down In front of the wolf girl and unzipping it to reveal a whole doctors office worth of supplies. She casual reached in and tossed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to Maya, just before glaring up at Em. “You're gonna kill yourself if you keep doing these things.”
“Says the doctor who smokes.” Emerald quipped a grin on her face.
Miss Shift rolled her eyes and shifted from her form of a child and into that of a fully grown woman. It was a rather quick process, obviously she had practiced this form before and didn't find it difficult in the slightest. Soon instead of a small child there was a 5'6 woman standing before them with long straight brown hair and brown eyes with light amber flecks in them. In truth the woman looked rather plain and nonthreatening but much like young wolf girl she stood before, looks aren't always everything.
“Shut up and let me treat your wounds,” She told the wolf girl sternly, however her voice seemed to take on far more of a maternal tone than an irritated one. She then Glanced over at Maya with an amused smile on her face, all while she re bandaged up the wolf girls right arm. “So how did you get convinced to cause havoc downtown? Did Emerald give you puppy dog eyes or something? And I'll come over there and see to your wounds in a second, let me just make sure Emerald doesn't bleed to death.”
((You are more than welcome to control Miss Shift she is a npc after all. Shes kind of a wise cracking no nonsense kind of doctor, but shes really maternal for reason em may or may not tell Maya. ))
"Whoa girl, ya're messed up." Maya frowned, looking at Emmy; no wonder her wounds reopened. Duh. She could see older scars under them. By the looks of it, the wolf girl had always been reckless. Maya wondered what the heck she would do if she had to drag Emmy back to the Mansion.
>>“You know Miss Shift, maybe you should stop smoking those cigarettes if you want to sneak up on someone with animal senses.”
Maya arched an eyebrow as she turned her head to see the little girl walking up to them. She looked harmless enough, and Emerald apparently knew her. Wait, Shift?...
>>“It wouldn't be healthy if I stopped.”
There was a moment of hope. A split second, more like, and in the next all the evidence came crashing down proving the first flicker of thought wrong and impossible; but there was a moment, and Maya's eyes widened and shone and her heart almost stopped. Mom?... No.
The shifter, whoever she was, was not Mom, and Maya knew it even before she shifted back into her adult form to tend to Emmy's wounds. For one, Mom did not smoke. And her voice was different. And Maya could have recognized her in any form, anywhere, anyway.
>>“So how did you get convinced to cause havoc downtown? Did Emerald give you puppy dog eyes or something? And I'll come over there and see to your wounds in a second, let me just make sure Emerald doesn't bleed to death.”
It took Maya a few seconds to realize the woman was talking to her. "I'm fine" se muttered, looking away "Take your time." Listening to the motherly scolding Emerald got for being reckless, Maya decided to say something indefense of the wolf girl. "Nah, it was all me. I don't need to get dragged into trouble, I can do it myself." She was really not angry at the shifter woman. It was not her fault she was not Mom. But the moment sure did ruin Maya's mood. Ruined more, considering why she went out to seek trouble in the first place. It sucks to be me.
All while Emerald was being bandaged several thoughts appeared in the wolf girls head, one of the main ones being the fact that she was going to start loosing control soon, judging by how quickly her arm morphed into that of her third form. She also noticed that Maya seemed a little bummed out about Miss Shift coming in, though she wanted to ask why the wolf girl decided it was best she didn't. Emerald hated prying into peoples personal lives unless they choose to tell her and she would hope they would do the same for her.
After being fully bandaged Emerald walked up to her friend, wrapped her not as mangled arm around her shoulder.
“Hey, I'm gonna have to get going, judging by how fast my arm morphed its not gonna be long before my wolf instincts take over and I'm gonna have to start hunting. I'm gonna head to Finger Lakes National Forest, they have an out of control deer population that needs to controlled and I think I'm just the werewolf to do it.” Emerald smiled squeezing her friend in a sort of one armed hug. “I expect you to get the Green Machine back to the mansion and maybe come up and get me after a few days with some clothes.”
There was a pause and the wolf girl removed the denim jacket she had on and handed it to Maya. It had the keys to her bike inside of it. “Take care of Old Reliable alright? I rather cut off my own arm than to loose that thing.”
Emerald smiled and morphed into her wolf form, smile still on her face. The large black and red wolf nuzzled Mirror's hand before taking off into the nearest alleyway, off to do who knows what sort of mischief before the big change happened later on.
Miss Shift walked up to Maya, concerned look on her face for the younger woman. Her maternal instincts nearly extending to anyone and anything that she felt needed it.
“Do you want me to treat you too? Or are you going to drag yourself into more trouble?” She asked a small timid smile on her face. “Im also surprised she let you touch that old ratty thing, thats her prized possession. She hardly ever takes it off, but much like everything else in this world it has a story attached to it. I have my own stories and Emerald...well that crazy girl has tales of epic battles and dark tragedy that surrounds her. ” Miss Shift shook her head, “Maybe your own story is intertwined with hers.”
(Dont even ask me where Miss Shift going all confuscious came from because I have no idea. Feel free to control shift)
>>“Hey, I'm gonna have to get going, judging by how fast my arm morphed its not gonna be long before my wolf instincts take over and I'm gonna have to start hunting. I'm gonna head to Finger Lakes National Forest, they have an out of control deer population that needs to controlled and I think I'm just the werewolf to do it.”
Maya smirked. It really started to sound like a mild horror movie. Well, mutants were real, why wouldn't werewolves be real too? Still, when mythology met genetics, Maya couldn't help but smirk. Emerald was one curious person...
>>“I expect you to get the Green Machine back to the mansion and maybe come up and get me after a few days with some clothes.”
"Sure thing" Maya nodded as she was hugged, wincing at the impact - it hurt her fresh bruises "Just make sure I can find you... and don' get any more messed up than you are." She grinned at the wolf and scratched her behind the ear. "Good hunting to ya, girl."
>>“Do you want me to treat you too? Or are you going to drag yourself into more trouble? Im also surprised she let you touch that old ratty thing, thats her prized possession. I have my own stories and Emerald...well that crazy girl has tales of epic battles and dark tragedy that surrounds her. Maybe your own story is intertwined with hers.”
"Nah, enough trouble for today, I'm ready for some food." Maya looked at the woman; she was kind, and motherly, and it was really not her fault she happened to be a shifter. It was still giving Maya the creeps. What are the odds? She'd been looking for a shifter yor three years, and then she finds one, just not the one she'd been looking for... "Yeah. I wonder if Emmy knows I can't drive that thing." she chuckled, looking at the bike parked not so far away "I bet that would make our story cross the PG line for bloody violence..."
Moving her arms and legs carefully, she shook her head, still avoiding Shift's eyes. "I'm gonna be fine. Thanks. Um... I should be headin' back to the school..."
(Emmy: I'm more comfortable with you playing Shift, if you don't mind or we can wrap it up here and go on to the forest thread.)
