The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He says it as he walks out onto the street corner. He is two blocks eat of where the looming encounter will occur. He stands by a lamppost one hand in his jacket pocket, the other holding his phone to his ear. He watches the cars drive by, there aren't too many but some many are trucks or other vehicles moving materials around.
He knows there are cameras around but as the meeting here was before the one of greater importance he does not wear his ski mask, rather a still his bike helmet so he draws less attention. Better to look foolish than a criminal.
On the way here he thought about this, he had had his own dealings with a Russian terrorist cell in the past, not to long ago even. He knows they were involved in arms dealings and this could be somehow connected. Chances are slim, but still a possibility.
After getting out from the cab, Flynn checked his gear. He stowed his phone and backpack after changing into his costume once more and went invisible. He too off from the alley and ran th few blocks t the meeting spot. He got there in time to see a Rolls Royce being allowed into the fenced in area at the end of he street. Hyde worked his way over to the edge of the fence and looked bout. He heard the cackle of electricity humming nearby and saw the number four sized wire attached from a small building about ten feet away, to the fence itself. He knew that the wire could easily carry enough current to fry a man, which meant e wasn't getting in that way.
A quick reconnoiter of the area surrounding it showed that there were three peeps on the rooftops, each carrying what looked to be Uzi sub machine guns. The range wouldn't allow the weapons to be greatly effective but the amount of bullets they could send down on the area was definitely dangerous. He mentally made a map of the area he could see, including the two cigarette boats docked a good two hundred yards away from the chain link gate. There were three buildings, each about fifteen by fifteen in the area,.and a warehouse along the north. There was no way to tell just how many perps were in there.
He hurried to meet Ranger at the spot. He saw him up ahead and moved behind him up against a wall. He turned visible and said, "Here I am." Then he proceeded to tell him what he had found out.
He heard Hyde from behind him, not surprised by this vanishing and appearing act any longer he turns and listens to what he has to say on the area.
"Well getting in is easy, they are expecting us in there but from the sounds of it it's be one heck of a rodeo in there when we get to business"
He puts his hands in his pockets, and looks down while he thinks. The guys on the roofs won't be to big of a deal, those weapons will prove more of a nuisance at that range. Hyde can probably take care of the main guy himself while I take care of the lackeys. The whole situation though will come down to the surroundings.
"So I assume we are let in, we entertain the idea we are involved in the activity until we learn what we need. At which point the hard part starts. We need to bag and tag the leader and incapacitate the rest for the police to handle later. The leader we will deliver ourselves if at all possible, but not to local authorities. The local cops would lose him. If he is head of a big enough group he can easily be sprung, we need to take him to a federal agency."
As he pulled the ranger into the shadows of the alley, Hyde went over what he had found out from Rand-Meachum."The printout from the corp she worked at..." He fished the printout from his bag. "It says she was working on a new type of sonic weaponry. A modification made from a joint German-soviet research design. First run production was a sonic boring device that was made for use in the rescue of mine workers trapped by cave-ins." Hyde peeked out the alleyway. He didn't like being in costume so exposed.... so... visible. Good, no one was coming. Man he could use a drink.
"It seems the DeFriez woman was instrumental in recovering the late '50's research and used it to buy her way into the country. She and the other scientists at Rand miniaturized the delivery device, made it into a gun. I'm betting she was dealing the gun designs to the Russians. What I can't figure out though is why she got killed. It sounded to m like she hadn't given the specs to them before her death. So why did they kill her."
Hyde decided it was time to come clean. He needed Ranger to know his attributes before they went in, Knowing the entire team's skill set was one of the keys to a successful mission. He figured he didn't have to mention he was a mutant though. The hatred and fear associated with being a mutant could mess up the mission. "Here's my plan."
"You and I will walk to the fence. You'll tell them you are here because Gordo sent you. Odds are they';; want to check you for weapons so you'll have one that one they will be able to take. If they don't feel confident, then they won't parley. Don't worry though. I'll carry in your other weapons and get them back to you after they confiscate the one gun."
Hyde stood firm and pulled his gun, then he vanished from sight and walked a few steps over to the right, He blinked back into view still holding the weapon. "As I said, I'm pretty good at not being seen. After I get the weapons back to you, I'll work on taking care of the rooftop gunmen, unless there is an extraordinary number of thugs on ground level. If that's the case, I'd say you gotta keep them occupied while I pick and choose targets of opportunity. The leader would fall to you to take out. That's about all I've got. Anything I missed or that you'd like to add?"
Hyde allowed the Ranger to take it all in. He valued another military mindset in the planning of an OP. They had a little time still to kill. He began to wish Wraith was here as well. His prowess with the weaponry he used was formidable, and there was strength in numbers. Hyde hoped Wraith wasn't in trouble.
He listened to Hyde's run down of the information he had acquired and to his plan of action. He was slightly surprised by the invisibility trick, only slightly as he had thought that he had possessed this ability but wasn't certain. Based on that fact the plan made good sense, it allowed for the sneaking in of a weapon and taking out targets of opportunity.
He decides that since Hyde has unveiled his power to him that he should reciprocate the gesture.
"Nice power you have, it makes this quite a lot easier. Now to show you what I can do, it isn't quite as active as yours as you seem to be able to will it, but it is a life saver."
He looks around for a large object to try and lift, seeing a dumpster a little ways behind them he walks over and begins to lift. At first he is unable but after a few seconds his power activates and his muscles expand and reorganize themselves increasing his strength and lifting power to the point he was able to move it off the ground, still obviously heavy to him but lifting none-the-less. After that he set it down and a few seconds later his muscles returned to normal.
"That is just one part of it."
He walks farther back, away from the street. When he reaches the street on the other side he turns to face Hyde. He stats to run to Hyde and as he does his legs change, becoming more efficient until he is halfway back and moving 25 mph. He then stops, as he doesn't want to go out onto the street, and his legs return to normal.
"So I say we use your plan and unless I signal you by, uh, moving my thumb in as if to gesture a 4..." He makes a 4 with his right hand, but keeps it at his side, "...get the roof guys. Now about the weapons I'll hand you the tranq gun and move the one with live rounds to it's holster. I guess after we get in slide it back into the left holster."
He pulls the traq loaded gun out of it's holster and sets it on a box next to him and moves the gun with live rounds to his left holster. Following which he takes off the bike helmet and pulls out the ski mask he brought.
"Heh, after this is over drinks are on me."
He pulls on the ski mask ready to go. He then grabs the pistol and hands it to Hyde. It would be foolish for him not to feel scared as the clocked ticked closer to go time, fear keeps you from being to reckless and going in as 2 against an unknown number of armed Ruskiis is one adventure in which cool heads that don't have grandiose delusions will prevail.
Flynn thinks for a second as he puts his pack behind the dumpster and takes the gun Ranger handed him. He says to Ranger, "How long do the tranq darts take to be effective? I'd like a handful of loose darts so I could sneak up on the thugs and just stab them with the darts and move on." He stows the gun in his belt's waistband after checking it to make sure it has the safety on. Hyde really wished his knowledge of the Vulcan nerve pinch would help him, but such tactics only worked n the Sci Fi channel he knew.
"Don't let them think you have the designs on you, but that you have them safe nearby. If there are too many of them then we can always retreat and rethink our plan. Knowing where the are and getting out alive to fight them later will suffice if it as to. I think I will disable the electric fence after I return your weapon first. That way if you need to, you can climb outta there" Now he was pretty much ready. He waited on Ranger's answer about the darts.before turning invisible and following Ranger into the fray.
He reached into his pack and pulled out a couple of mags of tranq darts and handed them to Hyde.
"That's 30 darts, should be enough. The time is different for different people. Larger people take longer normally, but if there heart is beating fast not long at all. All in all it should take between 4 and 10 seconds to incapacitate someone."
He turns to go out onto the street as Hyde vanishes from sight. The Ranger walks across the street to the gate and calls out to the guards to open it.
"Gordo sent me here, open up."
The two guards at the gate look at each other and open the gate for him then motion for him to walk in, the whole time their guns trained on him. After he crosses threshold a guard moves to close the gate but Ranger gets his attention and stalls him for a few more seconds by pissing him off.
"Hey, lets hurry this up. I have important business to take care of here! Do your searches so I can actually deal with someone worth my time."
The comment bought a decent amount of time as the guard walked toward him raising his gun, but the other stopped him and told him something in Russian. Following which the guard returned to the gate and shut it. I hope that was enough time to slip in
The second guard approached him and said "Give me and weapons you have on you, and no more funny buisness!"
The ranger reached into his jacket and pulled out his gun, he handed that to the guard and then pulled out his knife and handed that to the guard as well. The guard put the weapons in his own belt motioned for the Ranger to follow. Ranger surveyed the area as he followed the guard, he could see the rooftop guards as well as crates of what were more than likely weapons. Up ahead at the warehouse he was being led to he could see the occasional Ruskii walk in or out of its doors which gave him a minor glimpse of the inside. Several metal and wooden crates are in range of what he can see through the open doors.
After slipping in the gate via Ranger's well timed diversion, Hyde took stock of the situation. He saw ladders leading to the one rooftop but the warehouse roof could only be reached using the inside he believed. He watched them take Ranger's weapons. While they herded him toward the warehouse, Flynn placed the gun Ranger had given him inside his Ally's back waistband when they stopped to open the door.
Hyde only counted three on the rooftops and four more outside if the three went in with Ranger. He was at a quandary, not sure if he should handle these guys outside and leave Ranger on his own, or follow him. The choice was made for him as there was no way he could slip in with the group leading Ranger inside.
By the time the door closed, Hyde was on the move. The silencing affect of his invisibility worked to his advantage as he moved double time up the ladder to the southern rooftop. As the first guy moved across the roof, Hyde noticed he went out of the line of sight of the others. Hyde followed him and made his move. Ge snuck up behind the guy and brought his hand across the body, covering his victim's mouth. He jabbed the tranq into the guys neck, hitting the juggler as if he was stabbing him with a knife. In less than seven heartbeats, down the guy went, out for the count. he placed him in a position that made it look like he was lounging on the rooftop.
Sure enough, his partner came to check on him within a minute. When he got over there, cursing his 'comrade' in Russian, Flynn did the same to him. The guy dropped like a rock. Unsure how long they would be incapacitated, Hyde hurriedly left the roof and went in search of the ground keepers. They would be pretty hard to get by themselves. Flynn decided to get into the warehouse to check on Ranger. At least two of the bad guys were out of the picture. Hyde moved to the door and opened it slightly. Squeezing into the smallest opening he could make, Hyde made it inside without alerting anyone. He moved around the outer edge of the warehouse, looking around for enemies. Finally he spotted Ranger. He moved closer to make out the conversation...
He felt the presence of his gun in his waistband, Hyde had pulled through on the first part. Those Ruskiis are in for one heck of a surprise. They shoved him through the door and shut it behind themselves, more than likely not leaving time for Hyde but there is no way to be sure.
The guards lead him around some crates and towards the middle of the warehouse. From here he can see the whole area. There are piles of crates along the outside, large and small, metal and wood. several small crates and pallets litter the floor across the warehouse with the occasional shipping container stack. Above him he can see pulleys and hooks for moving some of the smaller containers and several forklifts across the way to move the larger. In the middle of the warehouse there is a nice clearing where 5 Russians are gathered, one of them delegating to the rest, he was more than likely 'Gordo'.
The guards motion for him to stay and one approaches this man, he talks to him in Russian and after a short time is waved to leave. The guard hurries back outside, the other Russians disperse to do work, save 2 who keep their guns trained on the Ranger. The leader looks up from the tablet PC in his hands but does not turn around yet.
"So I hear you come to finish the business we started with Mr. DeFriez. It is good to hear." He says in a thick Russian accent as he walks to a tall crate and sets down the tablet. "Now do you have the plans on you? No of course you wouldn't, you would have them nearby but not on you to strengthen your bargaining position."
The Russian turns around and the Ranger is completely stunned by who it is. It is Ivan Lukasavich the second in command to Alexi Alexandrov the terrorist leader he killed in Siberia on his last operation in the Army. Ivan must have taken over after the death of Alexi, and be using a fake new alias since the sundering of the terrorist cell..
"It is so good you could handle the deal after the incident with the woman. As it seems she knew to much about our, how do you say, organization. As she happened to be married to my lieutenant Peter, who when I felt she had betrayed us was the one to kill her." He walks to the Ranger as he talks and rests his hand on the Ranger's shoulder. "I trust with you there will be not, problems. Now to business, I know you were hired to bring me the design schematics. When I receive the schematics I will have the money promised moved to any account."
Well I guess now is the time to take him out, Hyde should be ready to help by now. I hope. And any further intel can be picked off him later/ He pushes back which prompts a loud 'HEY!' and reaches up to pull off his ski mask.
"Remember me?"
"The American!" Shrieks Ivan "You! You destroyed everything in Siberia, but now you are here in the middle of my rule not that fool Alexi! This time you will die and by my hands, and after I will have the schematics! And with them usher once again in the age of the glorious Soviet State!" He reaches for his gun and calls out for help. "Men, kill him!'
"It's nice to see you too."
He pulls out his gun from his waist band as he lunges to his right firing a tranq dart at the guard who had been behind him. Landing with a metal crate between him and Ivan, the guard going down before he could get a shot lined up.
The Russians all begin to move, some radio to others while others close in on him. The whole warehouse comes alive with yells, stomps, and gunfire.
Hyde gets closer just in time to see Ranger make his move. He is amazed at the man's bravery in the face of such danger. It wasn't like he could just turn invisible like Hyde and skirt the danger. Of course, Hyde had to make his move as well. The leader was moving off, away from the battle ensuing between Ranger and his forces. He could not let him escape.
The Russian made his way to wards a back area, seeking the freedom of a door there, between palates of crates. Hyde ran over to wards him, but knew he would be too late. His only chance would be to spook the leader, distract him. He pulled out his weapon and phased back into sight.
"Hyde seeks thee out criminal! Stop where you are or suffer," He shouted the command and fired his weapon at a crate the terrorist was running around. The sharp retort of the weapon and his scream of accusation caused the Ruskie to halt his movements and look over to see the costumed crime fighter running to wards him, Splinters of wood showered his face from the bullet hitting the crate. It was enough to slow him; but not to stop the determined terrorist.
He screamed something in Russian and moved thru the door, Hyde couldn't make out what he said but the implications were clear when the guy from the roof, who had come back in after hearing shots fired, opened up on Hyde's position, spraying bullets all around him and causing the hero to dive for cover. Hyde shouted out to Ranger, "Pinned down by the Uzi on the catwalk," and went invisible. Even out of sight ,he couldn't risk trying for the door with the gunman up there spraying bullets all over the place.
He squats behind the metal crate, the shots ringing in the air. He stands and runs through the labyrinth of crates, firing tranq darts at Russians who cannot believe his speed. His power was increasing his speed. As he rounded a corner he found a barrel right in his face, reaching with his left arm to grab under the barrel he forced it up. Smacking the wielder in the face, causing him to stumble back a few steps. This opportunity used to shoot a tranq dart into his chest, followed by a roundhouse kick to his face, forcing him into a crate which broke as he went into it.
"Pinned down by the Uzi on the catwalk,"
He heard it over the gunfire, but barely. Looking up he could just see the gunman who was pinning down his ally with fire. The range was to great, a dart would never make it that distance, but he had an idea. He searched back behind him and found a plank of wood that broke off of the wooden crate, and picking it up prepared to throw it. As he moved his arm back in preparation his torso changed the muscles grew and reshaped, also his legs returned to normal from when he had been running. Following the change he flung his arm forward propelling the plank like a missal at the gunman.
The plank struck his arm, splintering on impact, and broke the arm while causing him to lose his grip on the gun and drop it down to the warehouse floor. The gunman screamed in pain as he knelt down, a broken arm and splinters in his eyes.
Before the Ranger could get back on the move a ruskii put him in a headlock from behind and held a knife, no his knife, to his side about to stab it into his flesh. This must be one of the guards from the gate who took my weapons. He thought. The Ranger reached down with his left arm and held the knife back, then jumped into the air and knelt as he came down landing just to the side of his assailant. This had also pulled the Russian from a standing position. He grabbed the ankles of the Russian and stood, pulling the Russian's feet off the ground, and the he fell back slamming the Russian's back into the ground.
He stood up, saw the Russian was merely injured so he picked up his gun, which he had dropped when grabbing the ankles, and shot the Russian. He then retrieved his taken weapons from the Russian, his pistol armed with live rounds and his combat knife, and holstered them.
With the gunman out of the fight, Hyde could concentrate on the leader. He wasn't going to let Ranger down. From what he had heard, This guy had dealings with his ally before. The one that got away always messes with a soldier's head...look at Bin Laden. This wasn't going to happen on his watch. He moved invisibly to the door.
Ahead of him, coming around from the side, was a soldier that had a AK-47 in his hands, The firepower could easily be more than enough to take down Ranger from such a distance. It would cost valuable time but this guy wasn't going to take down his team...Not like before...
Hyde ran straight toward the gunman, unseen and unheard. He grabbed the barrel of the AK and thrust it upward, slamming it into the guy's face. His mouth took the brunt of it, the cracking sound being his jaw breaking. Hyde had little mercy for those that would do what these sort of people did. Seeing teeth popping out and a scream of agony almost made him smile. When he took the weapon from the suddenly loose grip the terrorist had and brought it around and smacked the man's head with the butt of the weapon though, then he did smile.
As the gunman crumpled to the ground, Hyde moved to the door once more. Three steps and he tried the knob; but it was locked from the other side, dead bolted. Hyde realized that this wasn't just a door to the outside as he had first believed. There was another part of the building on the other side of the door. He hoped it didn't have a access to the outside from in there.
His thoughts were semi answered when he heard a whirling sound. He knew that telltale sound. He dove away from the door as the rocket propelled grenade slammed into it from the inside, blowing up with a loud KABLAM!!!. Hyde popped visible, staggered by the force of the explosion. His micro mesh Kevlar undercoating in his costume stopped the door knob from stabbing in his chest; but with his ears ringing and staggering from the force of the explosion, Hyde was a sitting duck when the guy walked out the hole in the wall holding a M-16 with a grenade launcher attachment in one hand and some odd item in his other.
Armed with his full weapons compliment he decides to take the high ground. Scanning the area he locates a path that can lead him to the catwalk from where he can locate and finish off the rest of the Russians. He takes off at a run for a crate which he jumps up onto, from which he can jump to a shipping container and kick off the side to reach the cat walk. Having jumped a little short he catches the rail with his hands and throws himself over it right at the feet of a armed Russian who now has his gun pointed at the Ranger.
The Ranger immediately kicks the up which buys him the time draw his gun but before he can fire the Russian pins down the Ranger's arm with his foot as he lowers his gun. Before the Ranger is forced into a permanent sleep he takes hold of his knife with his left arm and throws it into the Russians abdomen then, his power increasing his leg strength, he kicks the Ruskii above the knife sending him flying into the air. As the Russian landed 10 feet back the Ranger hops to his feet and runs to the Russian pulling out his knife and then picks him up to throw him off the catwalk.
As he turns scans the warehouse for the remaining Russians there is suddenly a loud blast which sends metal, wood, and stone flying across the warehouse. The catwalk shakes and forces the Ranger to hang onto the rail or fall.
"What in Sam hill?!"
He looks in the direction of the blast and sees Ivan armed with an M-16 equipped with an M203 grenade launcher. That explains the blast. Then he notices the other hand, it is armed with the oddest thing he has ever seen. It looked similar to a gun but the barrel was a long cylinder and on the end were what looked like 2 electrodes. Wires wrapping around the cylinder have short burst of electricity across them. Ivan looks up at the Ranger and smiles.
"Time to die American pest! I hope you like pain, you will soon experience more than you have ever felt!"
He aims the weapon up at the catwalk and pulls the trigger. Seeing the gun raised and aimed at him the Ranger climbs up onto the railing and attempts to jump for it. A blast of electricity rips through the air and makes contact with the catwalk sending an electric current through the whole construct. Though the Ranger avoided the main blast the current jumped from the rail to his foot which was a mere 11 inches away. This blasts him down into a pile of crates which a plank breaks and stabs into his right arm thus crippling it. Rolling off the the pile of broken crates he makes a run for cover behind a wall of crates out of Ivan's site, the run takes everything he has. This isn't good at all. He collapses behind the crates, his whole body in extreme pain the toe of his right shoe blackened from the blast.
Hyde wasn't sure why at first, but the figure emerging from the hole in the wall decided not to finish him off. Instead he focused his attention on Ranger. Watching with horror as the terrorist leader engaged the off hand gun, Hyde could do nothing else as it spun up and discharged a beam of electric energy in Ranger's direction. Seeing Ranger go down helped him regain his senses.
Although still a bit out of breath, Hyde had to do something. The leader was advancing on Ranger's cover. He got up as the leader was slowly walking forward, popping three round bursts from his M16 into the crates Ranger was behind, keeping him unable to take any action in his own defense. Hyde still couldn't concentrate well enough to go invisible, but the noise of the battle, crackling fire, rounds going off in the crates from the heat , kept the leader from hearing his staggering approach.
The Leader got around to the edge of the crate, leveling his weapons down at the nearly disabled Ranger. "Time to die Americanski." Hyde threw himself at the leader Shouting at him to get his attention. He grabbed the sci fi gun and pushed it out to the side. It's shot went wide and hit the door where the four guards were coming in from outside. They all went down like sacks of potatoes. The Butta Butta Butta of the three shot burst caught Hyde square in the chest though, and flung him down beside Ranger. Saving his Ally's life; but possibly at the cost of his own.
The Ranger moved into a kneeling position his whole body in pain. He could hear the shots impacting the other side of the crates as Ivan approached. He knew he had to do something fast, but what could he do? His body was nearly spent, he may have the strength to use his power for seconds but if that fails he is done for.
He watches as Ivan rounds the corner and is shortly there after assaulted by Hyde who, for his valiant effort, took three rounds to the chest. This moment would decide the fate of him and his ally. If he failed than both would die, if he succeeded at least he would. Hyde he was unsure of, it all came down to where he was shot and how soon he can get help.
Ivan moved close sticking the barrel of his gun almost on top of the Ranger's head, he was preparing for an execution. At this moment Ranger used all his strength to spring high into the air, assisted by his power. With his left hand he drew the gun with live rounds loaded and took aim on the lightning gun and fired. The recoil felt like he was firing a canon to his weakened body, but he managed to handle it. The bullet slamming into the gun breaking many components and severing several wires.
"What! What have you done! My Tesla gun!"
As the Ranger lands, losing his footing and falling to the ground immediately, he watches as electricity erupts from the device and as Ivan is the nearest conductor courses through him. He screams in pain as he falls to the ground, Ranger presumed him to be dead but no he was merely unconscious his body worse off now than the Ranger's.
Sirens are heard outside as the police and FBI arrive at the scene. Within moments a man bursts in the door nearest them, followed by other men, all of them armed to the teeth. The men spread throughout the building and the man who appears to be in charge walks over to where the Ranger and Hyde lay and calls for a few men to come help him get them medical support.
"It's been a while Michael, it seems you found a way to have fun after your time in the Rangers. Oh, and don't worry. I will take care of the paperwork, you and your friend there will officially have left before we got here."
Ranger looked at the man, he could not recognize him under his tactical mask but he recognized the voice. It was one of his comrades from his Siberian missions, Kurt Schultz. The Ranger nodded and then soon him and Hyde were placed on stretchers and carried to a medical transport.
