The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

As Fiona walked through the hallways once again, she found herself peering into rooms that were open, checking to see if they had been occupied yet. She noticed that these rooms weren't very different from the Mansion's, although there was more of a sense of freedom here, and more of the inhabitants seemed to be on the older side.
She looked around uncertainly as she tried to keep things in balance. She wanted a room more towards the end of things, as she didn't want to have to encounter passing traffic as she had at the Mansion, but she didn't want to alienate herself.
Finally, after having looked around the halls for twenty minutes, she finally spotted it. A lone room towards the end of the hallway, door open, and from the looks of it, no inhabitant. "I think that just may be it, Mercury."
Walking inside, she saw a large queen sized bed, two nightstands, a desk, and what looked to be like a walk in closet and bathroom. She nodded, as she would definitely need the closet space for her various outfits. Smiling at Mercury, she walked to the nightstand on the right hand side. Inside was a key to the lock on the door. "This room is mine!" she giggled.
Heading back out, she locked the door behind her. "Now, to the hotel. Where are those cars you mentioned you had access to?" she asked.
“oh, good!” she may or may not have realized it but she was at the opposite end of their hallway meaning that she was directly across from Venus at the other end of the hallway.
~~"This room is mine!"
“yup.” He nodded enthusiastically. “Were down there.” He pointed to the other end.
~~"Now, to the hotel. Where are those cars you mentioned you had access to?"
“um, I will show you the garage, we have all sorts of stuff down there, we have moving trucks if you have a lot of stuff or we have a couple of normal trucks and then we have fast cars and motorcycles. Do you want to drive or do you want me too?” He smiled at her and either way would be fine with him, it was all an adventure. He showed her the garage and then pointed at the wall of keys and then smiled really big and pointed out a tank. “look at that! They never let me take that out.”
"Oh! Well, it's always good to know one's neighbors."
Following Mercury to the garage, she took the chance to look around at the people inside the Sanctuary. She felt a little naive, as she had to admit she was waiting to see mysterious and evil looking people. However, all she made out were normal looking men and women, and even a few older teenagers. At one point, Fiona shivered as a man who seemed to be made out of cockroaches and other types of bugs closed the door to his room as they passed.
Finally reaching the garage, Fiona was a little shocked. When Mercury had said they had many cars, he wasn't kidding. Pickups of all makes and sizes, SUV's, sleek and slender sports cars and cars meant to camouflage painted in neutral tones. She gasped when she saw the tank that Mercury pointed at, and had to hold back a tiny giggle when he mentioned they wouldn't let him take it out.
"Well, gee, I wonder why." she said. Thinking about his question, she reached into her back pocket to pull out a small pouch. Soon enough, she pulled out a small card with her face on it. Her driver's license hadn't expired yet, and since she hadn't driven a car in a long time, she decided she would be the one handling the steering wheel.
"I'll go ahead and drive." she said, and moving towards a sleek, red Nissan 350Z, she turned to Mercury. "Where would the keys be?"
“me too, I have no idea why we own a tank if I cant drive it.” he said to Fiona in all honesty.
~~"I'll go ahead and drive.”
“okie dok.” Maybe he would get to drive on the way back. He looked at the card and peeked over her shoulder, she had a license! “I like the picture, That’s cool that you actually have a license.” He sure as heck didn’t.
~~"Where would the keys be?"
He opened the driver side door and pointed at the little key chain hanging from the ignition. He then nodded at the key wall. “ those are extra sets incase any of these guys get left somewhere and we have to pick em up. The second set has a tag on it with the license plate. And will match the color of the car. It is annoying to find the second set.” He shrugged and waited for Fiona to get in so he could close the door for her before he ran around to her own side. He ran around to the other side and hopped in weighing the car down a bit. He glanced once more at the tank. Think about the live shells in that thing. The pretty pretty chaos they could make.
Fiona raised an eyebrow at Mercury as she watched him salivate over the tank. Gulping, she climbed into the car and turned the ignition. The car came to life with a seductive purr, and Fiona had to admit she liked the feel of it underneath her body. Shifting into gear, she drove the car out towards the garage door where immediately, the doors began to open. The sun was as bright as she had left it, only this time, she had the cool air of the 350Z rushing at her and the smell of leather reaching her nostrils.
"Okay, from here... The hotel should be this way."
Taking a left, she drove down street after street, having been slightly nervous at first but afterwards getting into the hang of things. Buildings wooshed past her as signs morphed into different avenues, each blaring its own message. Finally, a grey skyscraper began to near. Yellow tinged windows peppered its surface until finally, a set of revolving doors framed by a brown canopy was in plain sight. "There it is, the Crowne Plaza." she murmured, and stopped near enough to have easy access, but not enough to obstruct the various cabs that always made their way along the front of the hotel.
"I'll be just a second. If you like, you can drive back to the Sanctuary once I'm done, okay?" she said to Mercury, and rushed inside.
Immediately the petite woman behind the counter looked to her. "Hello ma'am, how may I help you?" she said, as Fiona approached the ornate mahogany station. "Yes, I'd like to cancel my stay. I'll be leaving as of now." responded Fiona, with an edge to her voice as if she knew she had found something better. A frown graced the small attendant's features as she tilted her head to the side. "I'm sorry to hear that ma'am--was any part of your stay unpleasant?" Fiona smiled and raised both eyebrows. "No, no--it was all wonderful. I've just finally found a home here in New York." With that, she headed to the elevator and pressed the button to summon the chamber.
Finally heading inside her room, she made a hasty beeline as she grabbed everything she had. It wasn't much--the essentials and some changes of clothes--but it would be enough for her to have to strain a little as she headed down. She made her way back down to the main desk and gave back the room key, and as she left back to the car a bellboy managed to grab her suitcases and pack them into the trunk of the 350Z.
Climbing into the passenger seat, she smiled at Mercury. "All done! We can go back to the Sanctuary now."
Mercury hummed as the zoomed along. Happily watchin everything pass by.
"There it is, the Crowne Plaza."
“Its pretty. “
"I'll be just a second. If you like, you can drive back to the Sanctuary once I'm done, okay?"
Mercury grinned as he ran around to the other side moving the seat all the way back and then leaning it some. He got into the front seat of the car. And buckled up. He waved at Fiona as she exited the building and then
. "All done! We can go back to the Sanctuary now."
Mercury nodded and then waited for Fiona to buckle up, the commercials said so.
Now one might question a woman’s judgment when they meet some earlier that day in a intersection pointing a remote at a giant tv hundreds of feet away. One might question letting that someone drive, much less let them drive them somewhere. One might as a bonus question the fact that that someone had admitted to not having a license. The thing was he knew how to drive. He just didn’t know or care about most of the rules.
Once he heard the click, he threw the car into drive. And took off the way they came the exact way they came. Same lane and all. He zoomed through lights and weaved through the traffic that was coming at him and with his free hand was fiddling with radio station. Why worry about this he did it all the time in grand theft auto.
Fiona slid the latch into the buckle and was ready to go. She had a few things on her lap, nothing too important, and sitting back, she waited for Mercury to start heading away. What she didn't expect, was to have the seat meet the back of her head as forcefully as it did when Mercury sped off at breakneck speed.
"Mercury! Mercury!! You're going too fast!" gasped the redhead.
Fiona quickly set to infusing Mercury with her emotional stream as she focused on aligning her emotions with his.
"Please, follow the corresponding flow of traffic," she said in a clear voice.
~~"Mercury! Mercury!! You're going too fast!" gasped the redhead.
Mercury slowed down and then seemed to calm down after ward.
~~"Please, follow the corresponding flow of traffic,"
“Follow Who?” He swerved right, around another car into a lane that was actually going the proper direction. He glanced around for who she wanted to follow. Hey it was a lot easier to drive over here. He continued to go down the road. “How come we can’t go fast?” He was now watching and looking fully at Fiona. As they sped at a much slower rate. If it wasn’t obvious y now that Mercury knew nothing about driving other than what an arcade machine might have taught him it was becoming more and more clear.
Fiona's heartbeat slowed as she slowly made her way back to a normal sitting position. She cleared her throat as she turned her head to look at Mercury. "You can't go fast because a car is a very dangerous thing. Maybe for you it isn't, but for normal sized people--like me--a car accident at high speed almost always means death."
Picking the things up that she had dropped in haste by her feet, she set to directing the red giant to the Sanctuary.
"Now, if you just keep up this pace, we should be fine."
Seeing the Sanctuary nearby, she sighed a quiet sigh of happiness and relief. "You can just go and pull right in there carefully, so that I can get my things out. I'll go ahead and get everything settled today so that nothing lingers behind in the search for my parents. And again, thank you so much for everything Mercury. I can't believe today has evolved the way it has," she finished.
~~"You can't go fast because a car is a very dangerous thing. Maybe for you it isn't, but for normal sized people--like me--a car accident at high speed almost always means death."
“Oh, I wasn’t going to crash, that would be silly. And even if someone hit us I wouldn’t let you get hurt.”
~~"Now, if you just keep up this pace, we should be fine."
He assented his agreement. It was like a mission where they had to driv slow and steady so none would notice them until it was too late for them on the video game.
“You drive Sneaky like. I drive like a cabby.” He grinned at the apt comparasion. In his head he had don nothing out of the ordinary.
~~. "You can just go and pull right in there carefully, so that I can get my things out. I'll go ahead and get everything settled today so that nothing lingers behind in the search for my parents. And again, thank you so much for everything Mercury. I can't believe today has evolved the way it has,".
“Any thing for my new friend.” He smiled a promise that when he said anything he would at the very least attempt it and give it his all..
“Um.” He pulled up next to the spot and as he couldn’t parallel park he stopped there. “sit tight one moment.” He hopped out of the car and then picked it up slightly as it still ran and then set it in the spot gently. He then turned off the car and hopped out and ran to the back waiting to carry Fiona’s luggage.
“Just say you are ready, when you want to go. I can drive some on the way if you want to get there fast. Or if you want to drive that is fine too.”
Fiona quietly laughed as Mercury picked up the vehicle. "How bizarre." she mumbled, and watched as he ran back for her luggage. Smiling, she knew it was a small task for him, so she didn't feel as much guilt as before.
As they made their way back to her room, she flipped through her cellphone to see if she had any calls. None, of course, and soon enough she was feeling a slight hint of depression. Fiona knew that when she was face to face with her mother and father that it would be a rough ordeal, but she couldn't wait for the day to come. They finally reached her door, and as she unlocked it she just pointed at where Mercury could drop her things.
"Thank you. I'll be meeting with you shortly to arrange things." she said, and with another one of her brilliant smiles, set to arranging things around her new room.
He grinned. At her little laugh and comment. “It beats all the back and forth.”
He jotted down his number on the back of a card he found in his wallet. He handed to Fiona after she was done lookin at her phone. If she bothered to look at the other side she would see it already had his info on it in much more legable writing
~~"Thank you. I'll be meeting with you shortly to arrange things."
He set the bundle of things down gently at the foot of her bed.
“Ok, sounds like fun.” If she called him she would soon be receiving a text with something silly in it about every thirty minutes or so. She would have atl east one person contacting her, even if he was big, red and some sort of crazy. He paused and turned around before the door shut, “I like your hair, the color is good.” He then turned around just as randomly and made his way.
Word had reached the ears of Syn that another new arrival was at Sanctuary. This one caught the girl's attention more than most others. It would seem that the new arrival had a similar taste in colors. That in its self was something she wanted to see on her own.
A quick discussion with Lisa and Syn made her way to the living quarters. On her way there she passed one of her brothers clones. Syn gave Mercury a nod as she passed him on her way to meet with the new arrival.
Upon reaching the room Syn knocked on the door. "Hello? I was informed we had a new arrival here."
Fiona had already started moving her things around and had just unpacked a rather bizarre looking lamp when already there was a knock at the door. Moving to set the current thing in her hand and turn down the music (she hadn't wasted a single second plugging in her iPod dock) she yelled out a rather standard "Coming!" and moved to grasp the knob. WIth a final swish of her hand through her long, red hair, she set it back and opened the door. Before her eyes could adjust, she already felt the slight blush on her cheeks that always came to her when she saw a very attractive other female. She seemed a moderate height, of lovely build, and most definitely had a commanding manner.
Looking back up, she looked into the woman's green eyes. "Yeah, I'm her." she said smilingly, and leaned against the doorframe.
Pushing an errant strand that had crossed back over her face behind her ear, she inspected the woman a little more. "Are you the rooming officer?" she asked. With a tone like that, she would probably be someone of power. Sticking a hand in her back pocket, she found her license and Social Security card right where she had left them when speaking to Lisa. She would pull them out if needed, so she moved her hand to her hip, waiting for the other female's answer.
The sounds of shuffling around and music were heard from the other side of the door. Then the music volume lowered and a voice called out. It was an announcement that the door would soon be opened.
When the door did indeed open Syn's eyes were greeted by a beautiful female. The woman's red hair instantly caught Syn's attention. From that point her emerald eyes carefully looked over the wonderous creature before her. Then her eyes caught something else. The other woman was blushing. This added greatly to Syn's interest.
With a soft smile and a slight shake of her head Syn responded to the question. "No, I'm not a rooming officer. I'm quite a bit higher up the chain than that, but let's not be so formal. My name is Syn. What's your name?"
