The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Looking at Aura, who seemed more interested than most so far, looking at the vanishing creature with a thoughtful gleam in her eyes, Jaxon for the first time felt almost sorry for the creatures she summoned. Almost. The idea of her ‘taking care of’ them if something went wrong was a bit much, after all, she could simply vanish a small one like this even if it took some work.
Aura’s question caught her off guard and she blinked at a question that had never occurred to her. “No… Not that I’ve noticed. They’ve never been seriously hurt, so I couldn’t say for sure, but I don’t think I feel what they feel.” The few times that the demons had been hurt she hadn't felt it, and she didn't feel their emotions or anything else, but it was a good question that Jaxon had needed to think about.
Watching Garrett leave to get his paperwork, Jaxon turned to Aura again. “So you live here; how do you like it? Is it noisy or anything like that…?” Jaxon wasn't quite sure, but after the trouble she had been having with her family, she was willing to put up with some minor-fraternity mutant-style living issues. She was expecting some random things to happen, she wasn't sure what exactly, but living with other mutants had to be interesting.
She was glad Seizure seemed more assured he could help Jaxon. Aura listened to Seizures words having forgot all about the paperwork that came with the place. She had signed it willingly after Dragon King had helped her deal with the local authorities. Trouble had a way of finding her in a way she never quite felt the cause of.
"I see, i do not mean to pry about your powers, better that you don't feel what they do though if you need them to defend you it would be harder having to worry about them dieing" She commented looking at her. "My Own form a barrier around me to absorb damage and form weapons to strike with" she said which was a rough description of her powers, it was basically true as well. Her aura hardened around her to create a shield to protect her from harm, she left out that if it was shattered she would be in a lot of trouble.
"I do, and it can be a bit noisy sometimes as so many people keep different hours, but i like it a lot you have to deal with the ocastional out of control power, but thats just part of living with your own kind. Still i make more noise then my neighbors, because i use my room to train as i need to be much stronger then i am now" she said as they stood there. "It's strange it was only hear it felt normal to have a roof over my head when i ended up here" she said honestly, she now took having a roof for granted.
((OOC: I am assuming that for the time while Seizure is getting the paperwork that we are skipping him. If that is wrong, let me know, and I'll delete it.))
Jaxon shrugged. “It’s not a problem, I’m just still getting used to it, so I don’t know much.” Aura’s question was a good one, and good questions made Jax think about her powers, rather than just ignoring them the best she could. And if she was going to get control of this, she needed to think about those sorts of things.
Aura’s powers were interesting; she could make a hard shell around herself and weapons, and from what Jaxon had seen her do with her hair, she could make tools and items too. It seemed like a handy power to have. “I like your power; you can do so much with it and being here and able to use it whenever you want must be nice.”
Listening to Aura, Jaxon nodded. It was what she had expected, after all it was basically a dorm for mutants. “That’s what I thought, but it sounds nice. I’ve never lived with other people my age and definitely not with mutants, so it would be an experience. I can't wait to practice somewhere that I don't have to worry about hiding or destroying everything.” The tension was rising at home, hiding her mutation and learning of her adoption, along with being eighteen and wanting to be out on her own and in control of her own life, was causing more and more fights with her parents.
The idea of making friends here was exciting and Jaxon could hardly wait. She was ready to take control of her powers and her life, and this seemed like the first step. She had always felt at home with her family until her powers cropped up, and lately she had felt like a guest more than anything else.
Thinking of home made Jaxon remember Romeo, and she looked around. “I know I will probably have to ask Garrett for permission, but do you think I could bring my dog? He is well trained…” The German shepherd had been a gift for her birthday, and she had taken him to obedience classes and training courses so he was rarely any trouble, minus the usual young dog things. “Romeo wouldn’t bother anyone, he is a real sweetheart.”
"Understandable, take your time in getting use to it, every mutants power has an inherently beautiful in it's own way, a gift to be used to further your goals." She said leaning her back against the wall as they waited, the other girl was older then aura by at least a few years she thought. "We are what we are, what he should be, No Mutant should ever feel shame for their power" She went on as she looked out the nearby window.
"I was trained for two years in the the woods of Canada, we all casually use our powers but we had to practice whenever we could, Those who did not learn to use their powers quickly almost always wound up dead protecting my former master. Needless to say her training was strict" She said thinking she likely had given way more information then the girl needed, but that was fine. These things happened and her past was finished.
"really? i have lived with mutants around my age for almost three years, around the time my power first emerged. I find it hard not to use my powers casually in the city. The training room here has programmable robots you can fight, which you can destroy." she said looking back at the girl, with a friendly smile. "So you have learned your powers sos far on your own then?" she asked curiously understanding how hard it might be to hide some of these creatures. Her own power lacked such a fear but she had known others who could be more dangerous to them selfs then to anyone else.
"I brought a skunk and no ones said anything yet, thought it was a cat for a few months" she said thinking back, her realization skunk was not just another breed of cat, but a completely different species. Still she was fond of the animal which had stayed in her room today. "So i'm pretty sure it won't be an issue, it's not like the place lacks space" she said looking back out the window, they had a good sized yard. "What size dog is that?" she asked having never been around dogs, still she knew their were big and small ones just from watching tc every so often.
Jaxon nodded, though she wouldn’t call what she felt to be shame, she understood what Aura was saying. She felt more trapped, as if she didn’t have many choices. Listening to the other girl’s past, she couldn’t help the way her eyebrows rose in surprise. And it made her feel bad for complaining. Jaxon thought she would be feeling that way more frequently; she had lived a good life and she was sure that many of the people here hadn’t.
Getting the feeling that comments on that, even if they were not disparaging, wouldn’t be appreciated, Jaxon focused on the other things Aura told her. “Robots? Wow, that sounds intense. I might work up to that.” Nodding at her question, Jaxon followed Aura’s example and moved closer to the wall to look out the window.
”Yeah, my powers showed up later than the norm so I was… surprised, to say the least. And I’ve been on my own with them. And they like to show up whenever they want, mostly during the night or when my emotions are out of control. I’m still not sure about them.” Aura had seemed to notice Jaxon’s fear and discomfort with her own powers, but she was grateful that the other girl hadn’t said anything.
Looking at Aura suddenly, she let out a soft laugh. “A skunk!?” She laughed again. “Wow… That is amazing. Romeo is a black German shepherd, so he is pretty big. He weighs close to eighty pounds.” While she was describing him, she made a motion near her hip, indicating the height of his head.
Returning from his room/office with the paperwork, Garrett found the two girls conversing. Splendid, he thought. He had purposefully taken his time gathering the materials for Miss Kane. It would have been just as easy to direct her to Lisa, but he felt another woman's perspective might fall on her ears better. He was so full of agendas and bureaucracy currently that his own mind was reeling. He needed to get out of the stifling, musty papers and get some exercise. Of mind, spirit and body.
Approaching the two, he waited patiently for their discussion to end. Something about animals. He smiled and rejoined them, handing Miss Kane a manila folder. " Here we are. Inside you will find the housing forms, various waivers. Nothing out of the usual. There is also a map of the Sanctuary and times for meals and activities. Once you have filled out the paperwork, please return it to Lisa at the desk." He was impressed at himself. The fluidity of speech concerning bureaucracy seemed to fit upon him like a second layer of skin.
"Shall we continue?" Garrett spoke as he walked, pointing at various locations." We have the general quarters here as discussed. There is also a recreation room, a cafeteria, the training room and various other locations which are detailed on your map. I'll let you two continue, as I have a few things to take care of. Should you need me, my office is right there." He pointed at the room in question, hoping he could manage to make it tidy enough for visitors at some point.
"They can be, whats more amazing though is you can replicate envirements so well, My freind made a bar, and the glasses on the barm bcan shatter and draw blood even though their not really thare" She said remembering back to that night. The Holograms really had been quite relaistic, "Working your way up to them might be good but i beleive they have all kinds of settings as well" she commented on them not being to good with programming herself.
"I did not know they could manifest later in ones life, but it does seem to make sense, have you tried meditation to control your powers, my former girl freind could controll plants and thats what she had to do to control hers, somthing about resting the mind" she recalled the skill had seemed to work a long with the large amounts of herb Solkat had used to smoke. They had not really been with eachother but aura had been hoping, and Solkat was one of the few in the guards over fifteen zand alive.
"I rescued the skunk from a zoo that was broken into by some mutant animal shifters, all and all a very strange night" she admitted as she looked back to her new found freind. "well im not a dog will be fine, their are far more dangerous things in this world after all" She said thinking of the humans. She looked to zeizure when he finnaly came back and continued the tour untill seizure mentioned he was a bit busy. "All right then" was all she said as she looke din the direction he had pointed to. She recalled the room but had thus far managed to stay out of it.

Jaxon made a mental note about the realness of objects in the training room after listening to Aura’s story and managed to keep from wincing. “I have been trying meditation and relaxation, but it hasn’t stopped the bursts yet.” Jaxon didn’t know if she should comment on Aura having a girlfriend or not, but came to the decision not to. After all, if someone had said their boyfriend did the same thing, Jax wouldn’t say anything.
She grinned at the skunk story though. “breaking into a zoo and rescuing a skunk is a strange night? I am not sure I want to see what a wild night would be around here…” Jax chuckled, looking up when Garrett approached again.
Taking the folder, a bit of confusion on her face until he explained, she looked at it briefly before tucking it under her arm. Garrett seemed in a hurry as he showed her a few more things, and when they had walked for a bit Jaxon became aware of why. He wanted to get back to his office, which he pointed out. “Alright. Thank you.” Jax gave him a smile and a wave as she continued with Aura.
"To be honest she had that same issue, if she were still alive i would of introduced the two of you" she said thinking to hers The two may have been a good match in trainign with their powers but Aura could see they had vastly diffrent personalities. Solkat was viewed the Humans race even harsher then Aura did. "Well im sure someone will help you with it in any case, i got lucky mine's never tried to hurt me" she said honestly. Running her fingers through her hair she took a few steps dopwn the hallway and turned back getting a bit restless.
"Well we did not really break in, someone else did, i just reaped a spoil of it as well as had some fun fighting various animal people: she said of the night. It had not been a long or to entertaing besides watching various way to big animals wander central park. "the place can get noisy but im usually occupied testing how much my aura can take or cut through at those hours" she went on stopped when garrett stopped to give jaxon the papers.
"So what do you think of the Humans?" she asked casually and mostly out of curiosity. She knew not every mutant wanted their wholesale murder of humans. Aura could care less as long as the Human's were stopped from hurting her people. "personally i despise them, i watched them take a way everyone who was importent to me in a hail of the guns" she said going on, the flash of anger that took her face when she mented her former freinds fates, was clear but dissopeared pretty quickly as well.

Hearing that the other girl wasn’t living made Jaxon look at Aura as they walked. “Oh, I’m sorry Aura…” Jaxon followed the other girl, listening to her story with a bit of bittersweet envy. Aura knew who she was, and had done exciting things in her life. Jaxon couldn’t say the same.
It sounded like Aura practiced her powers a lot, so they would end up seeing each other frequently, since Jax planned on doing the same. Luckily she seemed like an alright person, someone Jaxon could get along with.
The question about humans, followed by the story, made Jaxon shrug. “I don’t know… until recently I thought I was human. I don’t even know how I feel about me, let alone other people. I never had any problems with anyone before, so I don’t think I’ll have any problems now…” She shrugged again. It made sense to Jax; when she had been human she didn’t have any problems with mutants so, now that she was a mutant, she wouldn’t have any problems with humans.
"Thank you," was all could say to the womans concern over her friend. She did miss her old freinds but she was also happy she had made new ones as well. "The stronger i become the less likely i will fail to protect those i care about in the future" she said, the very thing that drove her through life. The need for strength to prevent another of what she interpreted to be her failing to protect her charge.
"Well Human's may well have issues with you if they find out, so just make sure to watch yourself. I was in a book store about a month ago, and the humans started a riot, the store had to be rebuilt after all the damage, all because a Mutant fell and revealed her power" she went one, more trying to warn the girl of the very real danger that was out thare. In her experience Humans rarely cared what a mutant could do, only that they were diffrent and must be purged. "Without an acadent though, your pretty enough to move among them without issue" she said, stealing a glance at the other girls body quickly as she stopped in the hallway near a door. Opening the door to her room, a small black nose popped out sniffing the air before a small striped head looked up and then moved the rest of the way out the door revealing the 19lb animal split strip strating at it's head and going down it's flanks, it then proceded to look up almost expectantly at Aura.
"So what do you like to do?" she asked looking back to the girl, even as her hand riffiled through the purse she had to find a small brown paper bag, that jumped a bit as she lifted it, opening the bag, she let a small white mouse fall onto the ground, which the skunk chased after with a sense of happiness, he really was cute when he hunted, the two animals dissopeared around the courner whare a loud squeak was heard.

Aura seemed very dedicated to protecting the people she considered to be hers. Jax was glad she wasn’t in a position to make the other girl angry. Hearing Aura talk about the bookstore made Jax remember that article, and she nodded. “I read about that in the paper… Oh, um, thank you… You are too.” Other than a simple thank you, Jaxon didn’t know how to respond to Aura’s compliment.
She was so used to hearing it from reporters or business associates, who were actually trying to complement her family, that it didn’t mean anything anymore when it came from them. But coming from a real person like Aura, made Jax nervous and unsure, and making her act more like the eighteen year old she was instead of the thirty-something she tried to act in public.
Following Aura, they ended up at her room. When the skunk appeared, Jaxon grinned in true wonder. After all, how often did a person get to see a live skunk running around un-caged. Watching her feed it however took a bit of the shine of the experience. Jax had always assumed such a cute animal was a herbivore, but apparently not.
Grateful for the distraction of imagining a skunk eating a mouse, Jaxon was happy to tell Aura about her hobbies. “I mostly act, dance, and sing. I like to play piano and travel too. Mostly normal stuff I think… reading, movies, stuff like that. What about you?”
"Yes the dance was fun, until a fellow mutant was wounded, then we were forced to retreat" She said recalling how they had fled the scene in the two cars. It had been a fun day up until that point and Aura still felt a pang of guilt however when she recalled the bullets had deflected off of her aura and into the girl. At the time she had not even considered such a thing was possible. Since then she had been trying to work out how to deflect such things toi better suit her allies as well as to cause more damage to her opponents. Aura blinked a few times at the compliment before responding. "Thank you, but the only attractiveness i possess in what which is revealed in the dance of battle" she returned after a few moments.
"I Like to fight and read manga every so often" she said of her relatively short list of interests which stemmed more from her lack of experience in anything else. She had not read a Manga in considerable time, but combat was somthing that was practiced daily. She was unsure how what many of things Jaxon mentioned could be useful in every day life. "I dislike travel though, it's tiring and then one has to relearn their surroundings in case of attack" she said once again thinking of things more in terms of strategy then anything like fun or interest. Then she thought of one of the things Jaxon mentioned, a piano, she had a feeling she knew what one was at some point but the thought of what it was would not come to her. "What is a Piano.....i think i recall hearing the word before, a vvery long time agao" she said still trying to think of what the image might be.
Just then The Skunk trotted back into veiw looking quite a bit happier then when it had left. The Creature paid Aura and Jaxon little mind instead pushing the at the door to try and open it, once it figured out it was shut, it looked back at Aura waiting her action, when their was none the creature laid down right in front of the door. "She still reminds me of a cat, but i looked it up and sure enough it is a skunk" she said with a smile. "So have you always lived in this city or did you move here to come here?" she asked trying to make conversation.
Jaxon nodded, following along. She didn’t argue the point that if she was pretty then so was Aura, and simply shrugged. When she didn’t know what a piano was, Jax had to think for a moment before responding. How to describe a piano to someone who had never seen one was an interesting question, and she didn’t want to say something that might hurt Aura’s feelings. “You mean you don’t… Um, a piano looks like a table, only there are metal strings inside and keys. When you hit the black and white keys, they hit the strings and it makes music. I’ll have to show you one sometime… It’s hard to explain.”
Listening to her own description of it made it sound like some sort of key holder for a janitor or something. She chuckled, imagining a man with black and white keys banging against some string. Like ‘Stomp’ or something. Looking down at the black and white animal with a smile she agreed. “Well, she is pretty cute. I’m a New Yorker, born and raised. I love it for some reason, even though you can never see further than a block and the buildings block your view of everything. I like nature and to get away to someplace open, but I’m a city girl, I always want to come back.”
Glancing up from the skunk, Jaxon almost did a double take on the clock. She could hardly believe how quickly time had flown. If she was going to do this, she should get home, fill out the paperwork Garrett had given her, and start packing. “Aura, I hate to, um… See your skunk and run, but the time seems to have gotten away from me.” Showing the new people her weird fear of the dark on the first meeting might not go over well, and if she stayed much longer she might not get back to her home before the shadows started crawling the streets.
"Yes i think looking at one would help, but i do recall an old cartoon which had one" she said now recalling the image of the classic cartoion piano which fell on people. "It sound slike it could be quite intresting though" she said still considering the object. Running a hand through her hair she decided maybe she needed to watch more TV so she would recall these things better. "It does sound like a complex device" she said thinking of it further, she had never considered one of them before with any real thought.
"I was born here as well but then after my first accident with my powers i ended up in the woods, still i prefer the city, the wood just brings up to much noise" she said referring to her past emmeories which even now sounded real to her at times while she was in the woods. "This city and the woods are both jungels, jsut diffrent types really, both are dangerous" she went on looking back at the other girl.
"well all right, if you need me im normally around" she said with a smile to the girl, turning and entering her room as they parted. She was going to enjoy having the girl around, she seemed nice and Aura kind of hoped she would find a dislike for humans as well, it would certainly make things easier. Hearing a scrtaching at the door she opened it to allow the skunk incide, the day was still young to aura.
