The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

" Maybe we will come back to the baby topic later. It will take a while to straiten up the world." He looked at her doe eyed. " No? ok fine, fine no kids. just ruling the world I suppose." He plopped back down on the bed next to her and surrounded her in a gentle bear hug. " now that that is out of the way. I have missed you." He lightly took the hand that he had seen with the new scar and turned it palm up. " now who and went and did that to you?"
as He asked and listened.he scooted in further and let out a breath on her neck. WHy was it that when he saw her he had only been around guys for a long time before that.... and there was always a silky bed near by. No, that wasn't the only thing that attracted him to her, not nearly but he couldn't help it with all her hair up in that pony tail and her neck bare and ripe for the tempting.
"Maybe we will come back to the baby topic later. It will take a while to straiten up the world." He gave her pretty please eyes, but that was one ticket Lori was not buying. "NO" was clearly written all over her face and eyes. "No? ok fine, fine no kids. just ruling the world I suppose." That earned him a laugh. When he plopped back down onto the bed, Lori bounced up with the force of his plop, but big red arms were there to catch her before she even finished coming back down.
"now that that is out of the way. I have missed you... now who and what did that to you?" He gently took her scarred hand in his. Lori breathed out a silent laugh to herself. "You know, you are puh-retty un-be-lievable." He leaned into her neck and breathed hot, moist air down the length of her neck. She cursed the involuntary shudder that he got. "You were gone. You didn't say 'goodbye' or 'Hey, I'm gonna go get into trouble' or anything so I don't know if you get to just waltz back in and breathe on me."
Despite her harsh words, Lori settled more comfortably into his arms turning so that his arms lay along hers and her back was against his chest. She lay the back of her her head against his shoulder and claimed him as a great red recliner of the comfy, fleshy sort. "However, I'll tell you about one of my adventures, but only 'cause I like you." And as much as she hated to admit it, maybe she missed him too. Taking his things was a way to be around him without him even having to be there.
"I met a guy in a vault. I mean, I was just in there to grab enough to ... uhm... pay off a little something that was over due." She left out the fact that it wasn't her overdue bill. No point in admitting that she could be nice every once in a while. "So this clown bashes in through the back of the vault with a big money sack with actual dollar bills symbols on it-- while I was robbing the place! It was supposed to be low-key. Something my ticket could sweep under the rug. Big holes in the vault wall aren't exactly hushable. He was there to clean out the place and, well, after I threw a bunch of shelves at him and decided I couldn't take him down by force I decided on other means. Besides. He made good by carrying all that heavy cash that was now going to be mine just for the trouble he put me through."
She didn't especially dislike Brickson, but... her opinion of his decisions that day were definitely not very high. "So after I payed my dues and we bashed some skulls we headed back to my place to split the loot." She was serious about the skull bashing. Lori hadn't known the color of brains before that evening. "There was uh... kind of a lot of blood and evidence so I convinced him we might take a shower together. Poor guy. I split the loot ah - decidedly in my favor, packed up my things, and then I hopped in the shower with him." The look on his face had been priceless. He'd been so focused on what he wanted he never saw the hazards of showering with an electric elemental.
"Fried his brains out, but he was still breathing. There wasn't a whole lot for me there so I figured I'd overload the sockets and torch the place so I could settle into a room here. Might get rid of some evidence too. So I left the bozo in the running shower and uh..." how did she put it in words? "called... lightning. It was kind of an accident. Hard to replicate and definitely an interesting experiment." Read: bad idea.
"This is where the sky reached down with electrons to shake my hand." She turned her hand in his so that the back of her hand lay cradled in his and her palm was face up. Shiny, thick scarred skin exposed to the light.
"You know, you are puh-retty un-be-lievable." “I could say, you’ve said that before. “ He whispered teasingly, quietly enough to be overlooked, if she choose to carry on.
"You were gone. You didn't say 'goodbye' or 'Hey, I'm going to go get into trouble' or anything so I don't know if you get to just waltz back in and breathe on me."
He breathed out again lightly on her neck and let his words land on her neck and upper back as he spoke. “I do apologize, my dear. Sometimes things do not go as planned.” He left it at that, if he recalled there were no promises made and hardly any strings attached, by her request no less. So while yes he was sorry he might not be as sorry as he would like to be.
He nodded and mhmmed along as she told her tale. With hardly any grumbles, definitely not at the mention of showering with another man, It wasn’t about what someone who didn’t know her might think it was about. He was considering how he would track this male down and punish him for hurting her, endangering her, showering with her, even if that had already rendered consequence. Until he heard the last bit about Charge calling down lighting on herself and the apartment building. He supposed he hadn’t anything to be jealous of if she attempted to murder him twice. Though perhaps he might finish the job for her? Hmmmm, overprotective much. He mentally checked his overactive testosterone with his logic and intelligence. She was not his to avenge and more so she was more than capable of taking care of her self.
“ Well, I can hardly decimate the person that did that to you, if you are responsible yourself.” He sighed. He was telling her way too much today.
“Nor be iratated at you for trying something new, when that is exactly the reason we were gone so long. No Hypocrisy for me.”
She could hardly hold a grudge with that in mind either. He moved her palm to his jaw line. Then, with the utter most restraint he could mange, began to message her shoulders. Whatever tension was there he intended to rub away. Perhaps, a good message could make her forgot or forgive his tongue for saying more than it should. If it had in fact said too much.
He breathed on her again, lips so close that every word was somehow more sensual. “I do apologize, my dear. Sometimes things do not go as planned.” She swallowed. He could say that again. What was she doing here? His words reminded her of what they'd talked about before... what she had decided for them, about them even being a them.
She told him her story anyway. It hurt nothing and she wanted to know... well, she still wanted to know lots of things, but right now she just wanted to know what he thought.
“Well, I can hardly decimate the person that did that to you, if you are responsible yourself.” He sighed.
She grinned up at him from his lap. "Oops?" Honestly, she couldn't say that she was sorry. It had been a real trip.... a power trip. That's the best kind. "Though the train ride here took a bit long. Stupid Kaz and ...Twins... happened to hijack the one I wanted. Though we found out that Amp, Vibe, and I all wear the same size." That had also been a trip worth remembering... too bad she got kinda hazy near the end.
“Nor be iratated at you for trying something new, when that is exactly the reason we were gone so long. No Hypocrisy for me.”
"Ahh, not today anyway. And lightningt'll have to be something for the back burner. A-uh.. keep in case of emergency kind of thing."
He put his hands on her shoulders, the palms stretched nearly all the way from her trapesius to the edge of her rotater cuff. He very well could have been twice her size. He hardly had to move his hands at all to call it a massage and she knew that he could easily snap her in half... right down the sternum. "Still putting the moves on, are we?" She looked at him over her shoulder, the muscles in her back pulling tight from the twist. "Even after you talked me into your silly little Order?"
What was she doing? Probably what she always did when she was relatively low on energy, uncomfortable, and unsure of her path. She was going to mess this up.
"Though the train ride here took a bit long. Stupid Kaz and ...Twins... happened to hijack the one I wanted. Though we found out that Amp, Vibe, and I all wear the same size.”
“Ah, did you get along well with Kazz and the twins?”
"Ahh, not today anyway. And lightningt'll have to be something for the back burner. A-uh.. keep in case of emergency kind of thing."
“definitely, understandable. We are pocketing the Abyss into the void for the same scenario. I am glad that my theory hadn’t come true I was convinced that it should create some sort of black hole or tear in the spatial universe.”
"Still putting the moves on, are we?" "Even after you talked me into your silly little Order?"
After a bit more massaging, he replied, “No moves, simply the other part of my apology, I do believe in more action then word. Well ok, maybe the breathing on your neck was a move and your had on my face…. But the massage is simply for you and your relaxation. You must have strained some muscles with all this lifting you’ve been doing.” the laughter in his voice was subtle but obviously there.
“ Unless of course you would like these to be moves and then, certainly they are . And I am shocked! You think I would use my body to get what I want, to and keep you here? Would it help?”
He chuckled again. “Honestly though, I would simply have you happy either way. I believe you may have charmed me. In the order, in bed, or out of both.” He raised his eye brows to her relaxed back and shoulders.
“Ah, did you get along well with Kazz and the twins?”
"Kaz? Eh." She made motions as if she would have shrugged had his hands not been kneading her shoulders.
“No moves, simply the other part of my apology, I do believe in more action then word. Well ok, maybe the breathing on your neck was a move and your had on my face…. But the massage is simply for you and your relaxation. You must have strained some muscles with all this lifting you’ve been doing.”
"Mmm. Well then, feel free to apologize more often because I have what they call ambition. I guess that means more heavy lifting in the future. Especially with the Order."
“Unless of course you would like these to be moves and then, certainly they are..." Like she hadn't heard that one before. "And I am shocked!" "Not yet, you aren't." She rubbed her thumb and forefinger together before parting them quickly so that a small, harmless arc passed there. It was just too perfect an opportunity to pass up. "You think I would use my body to get what I want, to and keep you here? Would it help?”
That earned him another laugh. Damnit! Why were some of them so entertaining? And Stupid, stupid, stupid. Why was she grinning like an idiot? "Why, Mars... isn't that what you've been doing this whole time? Teasing me, leading me on... all for the sake of Mutant Kind?" She ducked out of the massaging hands and twisted so that she could see his face. Was he?
“Honestly though, I would simply have you happy either way. I believe you may have charmed me. In the order, in bed, or out of both.” She raised her eyebrows. She had charmed him. Yep. She had him right where she wanted him.
... only, she didn't know where that was... and, honestly, it seemed like she was right where he wanted her. Moving in next door, joining his evil gang of mobsters, and sitting in his lap. Lori frowned. Really? She threw her whole life away for this. What a dirty, manipulating, red... stupid face!
"Why do I have a hard time believing what you just said?" No, she knew that she gave up the pretense of being human for this. And it wasn't all that different so far. It had been wrought with liberating and... stupid decisions. Being smart was such a burden.
"You do not have a hard time believing it. Do you?"
His eyes delved into hers, Her pouty lips gave away what she truly thought of falling into the bear trap that she found her self in. Well if she was going to face him he couldn't be held accountable. He leaned in, His face was next to hers and his breath was on her once more. His lips may or may have not brushed her cheek.
“Is it so hard to believe that I would try to go after something worth having, or try to keep the company of the first female that I thought would be worth having? I think not.”
And that was all he had to say about it. Though, whether she was done discussing it or not was something else entirely. He kept at heating up the room and bothering her as she thought that over. He would stop if it seemed necessary, but as soon as she showed signs interest he would show said interest
Their attraction was dangerous he thought, but it was very natural to him. First nature in fact. He wondered momentarily if this was what Venus felt for every girl…or any girl at all or anyone for that matter. He doubted the prior. His mind thenwas brought right back to where it was, failing at behaving.
"You do not have a hard time believing it. Do you?"
She wasn't big into verbal answers when she could convey so much with those blue eyes. She also hated to repeat herself and her asking was as good as telling. She was doing good to hold her own and keep miffed even when he leaned in. Even when he did his badboy hot breath against the cheek thing.
“Is it so hard to believe that I would try to go after something worth having, or try to keep the company of the first female that I thought would be worth having? I think not.”
But of course when he was spewing nonsensical mush at her, it was simple to stand her ground. Lori put a small hand on either side of those big, red cheeks turning Mars' face to hers and keeping their lips a desperate breath away from each other's as she spoke. "Yeah, well, I think you might need to keep looking." She leaned forward almost imperceptibly as if she would complete the kiss, but instead she hesitated there for a breath before pulling away and sliding off the bed.
She didn't care that she was still in her sleep clothes: a tank top and satiny soccer shorts. The only difference being that this was winter time so she added some socks to keep her tosies warm. Nope. Sleep clothes could even work in her favor in certain cases. Lori ducked underneath the curtain of silk sheet that hung over the edge of the bed and rooted around for a bottle of tequila.
"'Scuze me." She tucked the tequila under her arm and left Mars on her double wide bed. Walking away was practically her trademark. He could wait and cool off while she took care of some business. Tube socked feet padded down the hallway in search of a certain Jupiter. He was going to be the hardest to face, but at least the easiest to find as there was a loud wailing in lament of a severe lack of booze.
"Yeah, well, I think you might need to keep looking."
So close, if he closed that gap, that would have been it.Mars’s eyes opened a bit wide at this statement. “ I suppose if I find shang ra la I should leave that too.” Oddly, Mars didn’t sound as scorned as he probably should have, but more as if he had gotten away with more than he thought he would.
"'Scuze me."
His arms went up in the air as if in puzzlement and then he fell back on the bed making himself comfortable. He picked up the book that Lori was reading and began from the marked page. He smiled at the title of a well worn favorite. known world Physics and mutation theory.
“Jupiter opens with his right, if he decides to do so, dodge past him at the first opportunity and then regroup.” He said this seriously enough to be heeded . He smirked to himself; Jupiter would be child’s play and forgive her with a bribe of his own liquor.
----------------------- “ *(^(*^&(*^(*^(@(*^#$@$(*^&@#(^&$#)(@$)(@#&)(#) “ If there were children nearby then they were taking a course in sailor speak and their teachers name was Jupiter. Jupiter had found himself in the work out room, he wasn’t sure what had happened while he was gone but he couldn’t find anything stronger than lemonade in the sanctuary, surely he wasn’t the only one keeping the sanctuary stocked.
He hadn’t had a sip in how long? He felt as if he had gone to AA and cleaned up, this would not do. Another string of obscenities ran up of his tongue as he flicked the barbell back and forth. He glanced up at the door way and saw something just as welcome as drinking an opportunity for violence. An old acquaintance showed up and would soon regret it. He tossed the bar bell and two tons worth of weight toward the rest of the weights. Careless of if any one was there or not. Of course no one stayed once he showed and was obviously angry. He growled as he rolled to his feet. His chest was bare and he began to make way toward the little lightning bug. His right fist clenched tight. His knuckles were starting to turn white.
Hansel and Gretel style, it was as simple as following the breadcrumbs, if obscenities were breadcrumbs that lead straight toward the workout room.
She held the bottle behind her back and approached the weight room.. the empty weight room with caution. He'd taken that whole spilt milk thing entirely too personally. Well at least there would be no witnesses. No witnesses meant the lies could flow freely if she so chose that path. But honestly, she might not even need a silvered tongue... just a high enough proof of alcohol to save a clone from drowning in sobriety. Would one bottle of tequila be enough for a clone of that size? Only one way to find out.
He threw the weights and Lori felt them smash into the ground as the vibration made it through the floor and all the way across the room. She leaned against the door frame waiting the Mars look alike to approach and smiled in a harmless manor that spoke in no way of her actual nervousness. Practice makes prefect when it came to wearing the emotions you chose rather than felt. Constricting doorways and hallways behind them were also harder to take a true swing in.
Before he was six paces away from her, Lori spoke. "Do you know how I made a living in the human world?" She waited unflinchingly no matter his sailor speak until he was a good three steps away before she brought the Tequila bottle from behind her back. "Bar tender." She watched his face carefully to determine whether she would need to remain light on her feet or get a shot glass... or perhaps he took it straight from the bottle just like mother's milk?
(somebody has been drinking my Tequila) She wasn’t running, she was infuriatingly casual, her cocky smile. You know whey that smil exsisted, because she was one of the rare few that had gotten the better of him, she would regret that smile…if she lived long enough to regret. She was speaking and he wasn’t caring. He prepared to lunge. His teeth bare to his victim. His hair bristling behind him, His eyes glazed over with primal anger. He towered over her.
"Do you know how I made a living in the human world?" His fist began to launch from his side the same moment that She held out the drink, good drink, He came to a complete halt, A wrecking ball released and frozen in mid air. A volcano erupting and simply stopping just before doom. He would hear her answer and resisted answering the question himself. She had just bought herself some talking time. About a bottle’s worth from the looks of it. "Bar tender." Hs eyes burrowed into her. “I murder, Let’s see what you did and we might not need to see what I do.” It didn’t sound like a threat, more of a fact. He motioned toward the kitchen more prison guard then gentlemen, His teeth gritted slightly as he prepared to trade away vengeance for vice. But he was thirsty and she seemed to be the only one with any supply tonight, he didn’t trust himself in the city tonight, he would have simply gone on a rampage, some kid would have looked afraid and it would have sent him flying. This way if something went wrong, the target would be close by and deserving.
He was more big red animal than big red man. How easy it was to see that this wasn't Mars! She had been worried that she might get... confused somehow. Even though she mentally knew that they all had different personalities, seeing it for herself was something entirely different.
Seeing Jupiter bare his teeth and half lunge at her erased any fear of confusion and replaced it with the more subtle fear that petite women often felt around those that could physically pick them up and break them. But Lori was all too used to weaseling out of physical hurt. She wasn't about to take a red wrecking-ball in the face if she didn't have to. It also made this "compromise" all the sweeter that she would be serving him his own tequila. She might get points for having his favorite brand on hand.
“I murder, Let’s see what you did and we might not need to see what I do.” She had so many snarky comebacks for that comment that just had to be swallowed for now. She would remain as neutral as possible and let the Tequila do the talking. After the alcohol had convinced of him of her merits, then perhaps Lori could sass as she pleased. He motioned toward the kitchen and Lori knew a subtle command when she saw one. She also didn't mind walking first as she knew the asset that wearing shorts was against most men.
Once in the kitchen, Lori placed the tequila on a table, fished out two shot glasses, two water glasses, and some common other ingredients like orange juice and grenadine. "So what'll it be, dry bones? Straight up or a Tequila Sunrise? 'Cause that's about all we got." Unless, of course, she delved deeper into the stash she had acquired from Jup. and she didn't want to risk him recognizing the bottles' alcohol levels or some such nonsense. She was suddenly regretting the lack of vodka in this situation.
He hadn’t been able to help himself from noting that if she had been his bartender she would have qualified for the extra foxy bartender bonus Tip. With Tricity’s recent reminder of electricity being something to generally avoid, he was thinking he was willing to compromise; the fact that she was the one baring gifts and apparently did enough research to know who he was and possibly the type of alcohol he drank. Either that or she had good taste, But she wasn’t out of the woods yet, first she would have to back this bartending business and then she would have to use one of the other bartending skills, holding her drink.
"So what'll it be, dry bones? Straight up or a Tequila Sunrise? 'Cause that's about all we got."
“I think we should do some of all three. When, we run out, we can always go to the store for more.”
Yes, having his own in house bartender, was looking better and better as she shuffled through the fridge in the oblivious way that some women don’t realize that you aren’t politely averting your eyes when they bend alllllll the way down to find something. Hmmm but once again he had yet to see if she could mix a drink. All the eye candy in the world couldn’t fix a botched drink.
His expression however let little of this appretiation through, histhoughts didn't start showing on his face until he was well into his cups.
"When, we run out, we can always go to the store for more.”
Good answer.
She started by pouring him a shot, one for herself, and one shot's worth in a glass with exacting amounts of the other ingredients. Lori was the precise type of person. She liked her cookies exactly the same size, using the same amount of shampoo and conditioner so that the bottles run out at the same time, and her measurements exact. Some call it neurosis, others call it the perfect bar tender.
Lori stood at the head of the table, it was just easier mixing drinks while standing for some reason. Maybe more room for shaking? She took the shot in stride of fixing Jupiter's first drink, and a second shot after she'd fixed him his third.
"So, I gotta ask... what's with the weight lifting? You trying to keep up your girlish figure?"
Even having some Irish descent, Lori wasn't immune to the drink and the tell tale warmth was starting to spread across her chest even before the bottle was empty. She'd meant to get Jupiter drunk first and then skip out. Lori eyeballed Jupiter trying to discern his level of inebriation. Yes, she made sure that he drank three times as much as she had, but he was also huge. Body mass made up for ... somethingsomething... right?
Lori tucked an errant strand of blonde behind her ear and tipped the last bit of liquid into the shot glass for Jupiter. "Had enough yet?" She was really hoping the answer was yes because, well... she was thoroughly outclassed if the answer was no. Not that she'd admit it or even object to getting more.
"So, I gotta ask... what's with the weight lifting? You trying to keep up your girlish figure?"
He rose an eye brow and kept a stoic stare and then dined to answer. “ I am the only one that bothers with working out.” He knew that Mars had some sort of interest in this girl, and thus the openness to even being swayed to a truce between them was a possibilty. Good things came to them too rarely for him to simply throw her away, though, earlier her showing up with such propriety had set him to throwing that out the window along with his logic.
“Quiet frankly, I think there is still room to improve, I have six brothers that wouldn’t admit it, but they can destroy mountains with a swing of their fist, yet they still aren’t the strongest. I can beat them in arm wrestling, with ease most of the time. The trick is repetition increase, weight increase is simply impractical...plus if I work out it preoccupies me time and I might not break some person in half that happened to get in my way.
"Had enough yet?"
“You kidding me? One bottle and we shared it. If you are done for the night, Goldie locks. I can mange on my own and you can show me those skills some more on another night. We have a proper stock for your skills. I suppose we will have to put my hating you on hold for a while. Unless that is you aren’t as much of a light weight as your cheeks are telling.”
He leaned back and expected her to take his taunts and head on her tipsy way. That little thing couldn't do much more without inviting passing out or alchie posioning.
