The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The Dinosaur hadn't killed the woman, in fact the wounds seemed quite precise and non lethal. It told Max that his scaled ally had at least a semblance of intellect while in this form. That was a reassuring idea considering if the Dinosaur turned on him he would be able to do little more but lay there as the creature tore him apart.
The Dinosaur let out another cry and Max sidestepped to let her go for Tentacle brains. This was the safest strategy, keep the others off of his companion as she took them down. The woman didn't seem like she was getting up and the man was still pinned by Max's power. It would only last a few minutes but in a fight that was ages. That only left.
Something slammed into Max with the force of a locomotive and he fell to the sidewalk. He looked up in surprise to see the last man standing with his arm extended towards Max. Max's brain kicked into overdrive as he tried to rise, and found himself bound by chains.
The man smirked at Max in amusement ad the dancer fought against the bindings, but it was no use he couldn't move at all. He tilted his head and saw the sword armed man stilled pinned to the wall, and he was covered in chains too. He saw the chains binding the man and a leash was around his neck, the collar looked like it was made of some kind of metal and it bit into the mans neck. He could see the mans face but above that he saw the phantom face of the man screaming. The leash led back to the man who now had his hand extended towards Max and he saw two more lines coming off of him, one to the woman on the ground and the other to the tentacled man. In that moment two thoughts came to Max. One this was a psychic attack, and two the man standing before him was the real leader of this group. Not leader either, captor.
He saw a fresh line appear in the man's hand and it began to float towards Max. The collar opened and soared towards Max's neck. He struggled and fought as it closed around him and he felt a sudden rush of pain and nothingness. He heard a voice in his head, calling for him to submit, to obey.
Max rallied his mental defenses. An exercise he had done in Haven for training gear against mental assaults. He imagined a bubble around him and filled it with his mental focus, trying to cut off the attacker. He felt the pain lessen but it didn't stop. He laid prone facing the man trying to resist.

Mage
That feeling of fear she elicited in her enemies was a satisfying one. Were she a more sadistic sort, she could see how the feeling could be almost addictive. It made her feel powerful to witness her enemy retreating under thread of claws and fangs, especially knowing said enemy was dangerous in and of himself. It was one thing when a mere human felt terror, but quite another to see it in the eyes of a mutant. Fortunately, she wasn't the sort to seek out such sensations and, if she did find some satisfaction in the whole experience, it was only because he had attacked her first and anything that happened to him was therefore justified. Maybe next time he'd think twice before tormenting innocents!
She prepared herself to leap and finish off her enemy. Sickle claws out, she lunged, aiming for his chest. Anticipating some defensive action, she was caught off guard when he didn't move at all and claws penetrated deeper than anticipated. The blood coming out from the wounds she'd inflicted flowed faster than looked safe and with a sick feeling in the pit of her stomach, she preyed she hadn't accidentally killed the man. He might deserve to feel terror and he might deserve a few scars to remind him to think before acting, but he didn't deserve to die.
That's when she noticed the chains. They weren't natural and she couldn't be certain they were entirely physical, glowing slightly as they were. She could see them wrapped around Sword Arm and Tentacles and she could see both them also appeared to be collared as were the others. Was he their master who had imprisoned to do his bidding? Had she possibly just killed someone not in control of their own actions?
There was no time to contemplate such things as she saw the chains extend out towards her fighting partner and a collar wrap around his neck. A moment later, she spotted a similar collar headed towards herself, a sadistic smile upon the wielder's face. Whatever power those chains held, she did not want to find out. If, as she suspected, they were part of some kind of mind control power, she didn't have the training to resist. In reality, she didn't really have any sort of formal training at all.
Without further thought of what might happen if she miscalculated, she ran and leaped, praying with every force of will she possessed that she managed to leap through the floating chains, that her claws actually struck flesh and that in so striking she might actually distract or hurt the villain enough to make a difference.
