Serena was glad that the embarrassment seemed to be fading, and the kiss had been more than a little nice. Serena really enjoyed being close to her girlfriend. After the kiss she briefly leaned her head against the other girl's, enjoying the closeness. Her feelings on their relationship were a little unclear and confusing, she really did like the other girl, but she wasn't sure of the depths of it yet.
She was eager to explore them though, and when the other girl threw away a comment along the lines of loving her, admittedly a little more. Her eyebrow quirked, and her lips moved up into a smirk. "You love me?" She asked with more than a little tease and pleasure in her voice. She was a little surprised at her own reaction to the proclamation, there was no embarrassment or flustering.
In fact, she was quite pleased with herself and the whole situation. "You've not even had anything to drink yet~"
Huh? Well. That was interesting. That was not the response of one who had made the first move. This prompted Amelia to briefly consider the comments leading up to her comment, and question who actually said it first.
Serena wasn't angry. Not freaked out. Smug and pleased with herself, more-like. And cracking jokes. Which made Amelia laugh.
She pulled away from Serena, knowing smile on her face. "Well, we'll just have to fix that, now won't we?" The rhetorical question shot Serena's way. Knowing Serena, if she'd been shocked it would have been written plain on her. The woman really had no poker face. But she had not responded how Amelia would have expected... and Amelia had left her hanging, without a real response. "Je adore, is how they say it in France." She tossed a significant look the blonde's way. "You said you adore me. So. I took it as the French do, which is the whole nine yards." There were no excuses, no backpedaling. She shook her head, low chuckle escaping her. "If we're splitting hairs here, I think you said it first."
Amelia measured out some vodka in a glass, and wished the rum were closer at-hand.
Serena smiled at the other girl's reaction. It was kind of cute, even if she didn't full on fluster, it felt good to be the one in the position of confidence. Generally, Serena was more embarrassed by her own feelings than those of others, Amelia's affection mostly served to feed her confidence in the situations, and inadvertently claiming that she loved her was certainly doing that.
She grinned as her girlfriend went through her long explanation, she felt her own smirk widen. It was as if she was trying to justify her statement, and as far as Serena was concerned it didn't need any. It didn't really matter if one person went and said it before the other, ultimately.
"Mhmmm." She teased before a small pause, and smiled more genuinely and with less play in her expression. "Were you serious?" She asked, no nerves in the tone, just genuine curiosity and affection.
"Je adore," Amelia said casually. One shoulder raised and lowered in a shrug. "Yep."
You don't go around saying that sort of stuff, if you don't mean it. Even if it's soon. And once it's said, it can't be unsaid. Even if it's soon. Some couples date months before they say that stuff. But the timing had seemed right, and the emotions were right. No take-backs, even if Serena still hadn't freaking said it back... when she'd said it first. It would be a stab in the back, if she didn't say it... soon. Amelia shook that thought away. This was not going to get awkward.
The glass was 2/3 vodka. Amelia slid it across the counter to Serena, and looked her in the eye. She smiled thinly. "Were you?"
Two could play the game. The game required two, but that was of no importance here. Things simply could not get awkward, or she'd have to laugh it all off. And die a little. But she was not going to force anything. Soon did not mean now.
Serena would probably want to add something to her glass of vodka. It didn't taste that great, straight. Even if it had vanilla.
Serena found herself biting her lip to stifle another smile or laugh at Amelia, she was being so damn cute. "Mhmmmm." She watched as the other girl stewed things over for a little bit and slipped her a drink, she listened intently. And smiled more as the other girl seemed to admit it.
When she asked her the question, the blonde took a minute to stew it over. "Well, that wasn't really my intention when I said that..." Hmmm... Straying thoughts were occurring, she grabbed the vodka and drained it in one practiced gulp. Shots were pretty easy to be honest.
The liquid courage hadn't really effected her yet. She finished her hanging sentence anyway. "But thinking on it, yes. I think I'm in love with you, Ami." She responded, a little red creeping back into her face. Dammit. She was doing so well with keeping her embarassment at bay... And now she was not.
Stewing in ones own juices really isn't a fun thing. Just waiting, bubbling away inside your own head. Serena was slow playing her, making her wait, and wonder. Made her wish she'd given herself the drink, rather than Serena.
After a minute that felt like a decade, Serena finally answered her. It had hardly been fair, putting all the pressure on her, then biting her lip and waiting while Amelia stumbled out a reply. And then making her wait in order to get a reply of her own! She resolved to get back to her for it. And for the 'not my intention when I said that...' Hrmmmm.
Well, which was it? Unintentional confession, or just something she had said? And also had she just downed that entire glass full of vanilla vodka? Damn. That probably burned going down.
Serena finished her thought, and thoughts of vodka and revenge caught in her throat. They kept company with her heart.
And the blush. There it was. On her face and on Serena's. The blonde turned to make herself another drink, but she was not getting away so easily.
Amelia stepped towards her, and gently caught an arm, stopping her, then pulled her into a kiss. It was a very nice "i love you, happy Valentine's Day" kiss. Sweeter than ice cream.
The three words kept replaying themselves in her head. She was a massive romantic, so it wasn't really surprising that a relationship that had been built up so much in her head, and lived up to the expectations she'd set for herself, had lead to her thinking them sincerely. It was a bit of a revelation, actually. But a happy one.
She was trying to hide the embarrassment and fluttery-ness that she was feeling, but her girlfriend caught her while she was trying, stopping her from hiding in another task. She met the other girl's kiss softly, with a little more of that nervous inexperience seeping through her.
That was... until the vodka started to take effect and she found a little more confidence in herself and met her girlfriend's enthusiasm with more than a little of her own, deepening the kiss a little more.
She found her hands wandering around into a hug, wrapping around the other girl, before playful fingers started to play with the brunette locks.
The kiss grew more and more intense. Amelia's hands found their way to the back of Serena's head, the back of her neck. There was a lot of growing heat. She lost herself in the moment. And that moment lasted... a minute. More. It was very easy to lose track of things like time, or space.
It was entirely a surprise to her to find Serena seated on the counter when she came away from the kiss. And she had helped. She vaguely remembered lifting... and now she was holding Serena's hand, standing in front of her. Amelia arched an eyebrow.
"I've not even had anything to drink yet~" Amelia repeated Serena's comment from earlier, teasing smile on her face.
That might have been accelerating the night a little. Getting carried away. The night was still young. They had not even broken into the Ben and Jerry's.
When Amelia's hands wandered across Serena's neck she felt a shiver run up her spine and neck, pressing back into the kiss with a rapidly growing intensity and need. At some point during the kiss Amelia reached down and lifted her up onto the counter, where they continued to meet each other hungrily for a little longer, the whole encounter must have lasted about a minute, but it felt considerably longer.
She gently squeezed Ami's hand. Smiling at her sheepishly. "I can't be held responsible for my actions in your presence~" She replied with a mixture of embarrassment and playfulness.
Serena slid off of the counter and kissed Ami again, very intently, but broke it off a lot more quickly. "Shall we make some drinks and do some ice cream? We can sit and play or watch something for a bit, try and stave off those distractions for a little longer~" She turned to make them some drinks.
It sounded like a plan. Amelia found herself nodding, agreeing. "I suppose," she said, touch of amusement in her voice. "Vodka and cranberry for me... maybe a little rum later." She was already planning. A shame she hadn't brought any Jack or Jameson. Those fellas knew a good time.
As Serena worked on drinks, Amelia opened the fridge and pulled out the pints of ice cream. "I got Chubby Hubby and Cherry Garcia, so we've got options." If it were her alone, she would have popped the pint tops and gone at then with a spoon. Bowls are for suckers, with pints of ice cream. But this wasn't her house and she wasn't alone. Amelia moved to grab some bowls from a cabinet, and gathered up spoons. She supposed they could share the pints. No reason to lay claim only to her own.
Those 'distractions' had set her blood on fire, but she supposed they could hold off. They had all night, after all.
Bowls and spoons and ice cream gathered and balanced in two hands, Amelia moved to the living area and the coffee table, to set them down. The remote was located, channels scanned. Cards and board games were far too involved to be done while eating ice cream, and went against the plans. The plans would be fine if they just caught a movie.
"Action, comedy, or romance?" She looked to Serena. "Romantic comedy, maybe? It's Valentine's Day and they're showing a lot of good ones. Definitely, Maybe." She listed, discounting that one immediately. The male lead looked too similar to her brother for Amelia's comfort. "You've Got Mail. Big. Sleepless in Seattle-- I'm sensing a Tom Hanks pattern developing. I guess he was 90s dreamy. For one actress, at least."
Click. She selected the last movie, because it was her favorite.
"Horses, horses, horses," the blonde woman on the television sang. Good. They'd even tuned it at the best part.
Serena nodded at Amelia's drink request and made it up swiftly. She hoped she had done okay with it. Serena did drink fairly regularly, but she wasn't exactly a cocktail expert. She mixed one of her favourites, being rum and cherry pepsi. She took a gentle sip, and added ice. "Ice?" She asked her girlfriend before finishing off making the drinks, and bringing them over.
"Hmmm, a bit of both maybe? We can share or whatever~" She smiled and moved over to the sofa as Amelia flicked through the T.V channels. Serena was pretty easy going with whatever was put on T.V, generally speaking, especially when even if it was a little boring she could amuse herself by watching her lovely girlfriend enjoy herself.
She sipped a little more, trying to cool herself down. Amelia was really really really pretty. She tried to shake this and watch the screen, occasionally glancing at the brunette. "Romantic comedy sounds fun. As long as you're not implying that I'm amusing." She chimed with a little mischief in her gaze.
Another smile tipped her lips as Ami picked something she liked, Serena gently lay her head on the other's shoulder, snuggling up to her.
'Ice', Serena asked. "Dry," Amelia sang back in answer. She liked ice in certain drinks, but cranberry and vodka, she liked dry.
Serena was of a like mind in wanted to share ice cream, which was fine by her. She liked everything she'd bought. Once they were settled, she would dish them up.
>>"Romantic comedy sounds fun. As long as you're not implying that I'm amusing." Serena said.
Amelia smirked at her. "Is this a trick question. If I laugh at your joke, you'll think I think you're amusing. And if I don't, I'll be an aaaaarse." She stretched the word, teasing the blonde with the very British term. Thankfully, minus a bad British accent other than a strong A. And that could be for anything.
The blonde rested her head on Amelia's shoulder, and Amelia looked at her. Her lips quirked. "Horses, horses, horses." She repeated the line from the movie. Then, pecked Serena on the cheek and shifted her gently. "We can snuggle AFTER I get us both the ice cream." She smiled. "Otherwise, it's just going to melt."
She quickly dished them both up a little of each. It would have been simpler just to pick a pint, and swap later, but-- Some people just didn't like that. Amelia slipped Serena her bowl, got into position, and rested HER head on Serena's shoulder. Since she was shorter, it only made sense.
On-screen, Tom Hanks was talking about his dead wife. It was really really romantic.
Serena smiled dreamily at the little kiss on the cheek and mumbled a little about the snuggling or lack there of. She would like some ice cream but... She was a little loopy from drinking that so fast, and Ami was so comfy to rest against. Serena sometimes didn't think about the fact that she was actually the larger of the two girls, it was an easy thing to forget.
The teasing had amused her, she was wearing a gentle bemused smile as she grabbed her spoon and tasted the ice cream. It was good. "You, are a wonderful thoughtful girlfriend and this ice cream is delicious." she murmured between... bites? Slurps? Between samples of the ice cream, B&J's was always worth it.
She smiled as she put her bowl down and the other girl snuggled against her, she felt a little shiver run through her side and slid her arm behind the other girl and around her waist, pulling her gently up against her side, letting out a little happy sound, almost a purr, if a human could make such a sound.
"Rom com's are a mixed bag." She admitted, but smiled at the movie. "This one's not bad though~" she leaned down and kissed her girlfriend on the top of the head, her blonde locks spilling around the other girl's face.
The compliment, she beamed at. The ice cream, she ate. The kissing and snuggling and proximity, she enjoyed. She settled in for the long haul. Serena was near. Ice cream was at-hand, and her drink got finished about halfway into the movie, after she'd helped polish off at least one of the pints of ice cream. She'd taken a brief snuggling break, then, to put away the remnants of their ice cream and dishes, and to run cold water over the bowls.
While Amelia was up, she made them a few more drinks, giving Serena exactly what she wanted. She also gave her her drink. After the kiss.
It was a very typical Valentine's Day. Kissing and cuddling and chocolate and hard liquor. The first two were her favorite parts.
At some point she stopped watching the movie, instead focusing on Serena's hand. And the hand holding lead elsewhere. Neither party seemed very interested in Tom Hanks.
Serena enjoyed the movie... Somewhat. Rom Coms were good, but she was a little fuzzy from the drinks already, and she hadn't eaten an overly abundant amount that day, due to all the dashing around so it was hitting her harder than it normally would have. She wasn't really tipsy or anything, just a little less focused than she would have otherwise been.
And on top of that, being so close to Amelia on valentine's day was driving her hormones crazy, and it wasn't like she was a teenager or anything but being this close to an attractive girl you had a big thing for didn't exactly make it an easy job to keep everything in check. Focusing on the ice cream helped, and it was cold which also helped a bit. But these distractions also made it a little harder to focus on the movie.
She needed something a little more active.
After the second round of drinks, they got a little more distracted from the movie, giving each other more kisses, and tangling with each other a little, after some wandering hands and a little more in the way of intent passionate kisses Serena felt her cheeks flush in a bit, and broke the contact.
She bit into her lower lip a little bit. "We're not terribly good at focusing on things other than each other are we?" She asked, more than a little tease in her tone. "Should we grab a card game or a video game or something a little more active?" She asked, squeezing her girlfriend's hand.
