The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Kaz had been putting it off for a while, but he had finally gotten himself convinced to go to Sanctuary. He tried not to be hopeful about what or who he would find, or to concern himself with how they would react. He wasn't looking for a fight, to live there, or to rejoin the Order. His motivations were less thought based and more gut feeling, and there was a chance he was feeling somewhat lonely and maybe a bit lost.
As Kaz climbed the steps up to the large doors he tried to decide if he should stay in his altered form or revert back to his normal self. The doors were swinging open as he was still deciding, his legs carrying him forward confidently, though he didn't feel it as much as he showed. Half way across the floor Kaz finally made up his mind as his wings receded into his body, face returned to normal, bones and muscles returned to their original state, and the sound of tapping claws with each step became soft sounds of human feet barely audible despite his weight.
Kaz had no doubt that the woman at the desk had taken notice of him the instant the doors had opened, but she hadn't turned from her screen and work until he had moved within 15ft of her at which point she turned slowly, a smile on her face, like always, to face him fully. “Kaz, welcome back.” Kaz felt a chill run down his spine and he stopped well out of reach of the woman, even if she lunged at him. There was nothing obviously malicious, or unhappy, or angry, or anything else in her smile and tone, nothing that should cause him to have such a reaction, but he did. Lisa's words could as easily been an honest greeting or a death threat and he had no way to tell except to keep going.
Even though the woman, who as far as he knew was most likely, most probably human, maybe, could have just sentenced him to death, he had to admit, there was a part of him that was glad to see her. She was the one thing that didn't change it seemed, sure she looked a little older, but she was still there, sitting behind that desk, doing who knows what all the time, but she kept everything in order, he knew that. Without her, he knew, knew it in his gut, that there would be no Sanctuary, no Order.
”Lisa, it's good to see you. Is anyone around?” It was obvious that 'anyone' meant 'Order members', and they both knew it, ”I have some time, to wait if necessary.” For a moment Kaz wasn't sure what would happen since Lisa hadn't made any movements, except her smile, it seemed to thin almost imperceptibly. Then he noticed her eyes, they had just checked him out, not in any sort of sexual way, but as if looking at him and cataloging everything about him from his dress, to posture, cleanliness, hair style, to...to...everything. It was almost disturbing, and would have been, if he hadn't known the woman, he had just forgotten about how detailed and meticulous she was about everything.
It wasn't until he looked down at himself that he realized he was still shirtless and that his hair was windblown. ”Oh...right.” Kaz pulled out a tight fitting sleeveless shirt from the small pack he had on his waist and pulled it on before running his fingers through his hair. He might have imagined it, but he thought he saw the slightest hint of approval from her. ”Have a seat Mr. Corydon. I'll see what I can do.” Lisa said as she motioned to one of the chairs in the foyer. Tilting his head slightly he nodded to her and sat down and waited.
Aura was training had been for a few hours when she heard her cellphone ring. The ring stopped her and she immediately turned, dodging a cannonball and shutting down the program. The ten foot robot stopped in place, then began gathering the spent cannon ball shells. Aura had been testing how much force her Aura could take trying to improve it's endurance and her strength.
It took her a few minutes but she picked up the phone and read the text from Lisa that followed before Aura could return the call. She read it and texted her reply. Tossing her black hair back in a ponytail and toweled the sweat from her face. She made sure her things were against a wall in case someone else came in while she was away.
She made her way to the foyer and looked around, the Mutant Lisa had mentioned was easy enough to find. Aura made her way over with a smile and coated in a thin pink aura around her body, which stood out against her black sweatpants and tank top. It was stranded for aura to keep her powers up while with other mutants, not because she was worried but for pride.
"Hello, my name is Aura, Lisa texted you were asking for us" she said for now it was just them but you never knew when someone might pop in and not all at sanctuary knew of the order. "Do we need somewhere more private? she asked curiously. It was not often people came asking to see Order members, which Lisa had implied this was about. If he was interested in joining it could help her build a strike force.
Kaz didn't have long to wait before a young woman approached him and he stood up to meet her. She was young, older than 18 most likely, but Kaz would be surprised if she were legally able to drink, that that the law ever stopped him or anyone else in the Order. Her slender frame belied the strength she projected, her movements were confident, controlled, and even before her aura surrounded her, he could tell she was dangerous. Every member of the Order was dangerous in their own way, but if someone took her at face value and underestimated her, he was sure they wouldn't have long to regret it.
He didn't know what that aura of hers could do exactly, but he was sure putting himself in direct contact with it would be to his disadvantage, so he held out his hand to her and kept his eyes on hers, ”Kaz Corydon” He said with a real smile. ”A pleasure to meet you Aura. Lisa is correct, as always.” He tilted his head just a bit as both of his eyes squinted a hair, ”Have we met before? You look..familiar.”
Kaz looked Aura over again and took a conscious breath through his nose. ”I'm sorry if my being here has interrupted your workout. I'd be happy to offer my assistance as an apology, if you'd like.” Kaz gave Aura a slight bow, ”I think the Training Room would be private enough. I'm hoping you could answer a few questions I have.”
"I think we met did but never directly." she said finding herself struggling to Recall Kaz, the name was not familiar but her memory for names had always been terrible. "Though i use to be on tv a lot" she said thinking that might be another reason. Maybe once she saw his power she would recall him, Aura remembered people better that way.
"That will work and if i can answer them i will. Though i have only been back a six months myself. I had to make a trip to Japan for awhile" she said recalling the trip with a grim satisfaction. Nodding to him to follow her as she made her way to the training room. She was about to mention Solkat when they came to the door, from which heavy foot steps could be heard.
Shutting the door behind them as they emerged into the training room, the Robot was just picking up the last of the cannon balls for disposal."So my friend, what's on your mind?" she asked casually as she glanced at the wall making sure her things were untouched. Her bag was moved a few feet from where she had left it but her sword was still in place which told Aura everything was fine. She was curious what the man had to say and even more curious why they seemed to recall each other but not remember much if anything about one another.
”Maybe that's it.” Kaz said in response to Aura being on tv. As they walked down the halls Kaz kept his senses alert as he scanned his surroundings. From what he could see, the Sanctuary hadn't changed much, if at all. He wasn't sure what he expected, a new coat of paint on the walls, change the color scheme one a decade maybe. He was able to make out voices and sounds echoing faintly throughout the halls and rooms they passed, if he focused on them he could make out what they were saying clearly, but he wasn't here to snoop on the residents.
”Well, six months is longer than me. I've been out of the country for the better part of six years. I just returned less than two weeks ago.” Kaz wasn't going to get into many details unless he really had to, in private, but out in the halls, he'd only talk small-talk. ”Japan huh.” Kaz couldn't quite pin down Aura's tone when she mentioned Japan, had it been a good trip or a bad one? Personal or business? Kaz guessed personal. ”Interesting country, a little odd in some ways, more fun in others. Learned to make my own katana there.”
Once through the doors he immediately noticed the large robot and skunk. The skunk was an odd thing to see in Sanctuary, but Aura seemed more intent on what Kaz guessed were her possessions, so the skunk must be a normal thing. Even still, Kaz kept the animal's position in mind as he moved around the training room. The robot was the obvious danger in the room, besides the two mutants, it seemed to be collecting iron balls of some sort. Big ones, like, ”Cannon balls?” Kaz said a bit surprised, but quietly.
Kaz looked towards Aura's things and noticed the katana among them, ”Yours? Would you mind if I...?” He said as he gestured towards the sword. Kaz moved to where her stuff lay, appearing there almost as if he hadn't physically moved, only the light falling of his hair as it settled back into place spoke otherwise. Picking up the scabbard he examined the handle and braid before pulling the blade out. The blade came out smoothly, his motions that of someone who respected such tools and knew their value. He noticed the letters 'Xi' and assumed it was either the craftsman’s name or the sword's. Kaz had no need to test the blade physically to know it was keen. ”It's beautifully made. Handcrafted, not pressed. Very nice.” Kaz knew quality work when he saw it. Knowing the blade was Aura's gave her a notch in her favor.
Putting the katana back in its scabbard and setting it down gently, Kaz turned to the young woman. ”To be completely honest, I came here because I figured if anyone knew what was going on in this city, it's recent history, or if there were any issues to be aware of, the Order would know, and be straight about it. And not, ya know, paint some rosy picture of it, brush it under the rug, or downplay it, like the X's would probably do.”
He figured she'd want to know why before she would answer anything, or maybe that she would need to know so that her answers, if she had any, would be relevant to him. ”I came back to publicly announce the housing community I've had built here in New York. A community just for mutant, built by mutants, secured and protected by mutants.” He made sure to look her in the eyes, voice calm and cool. ”I need to know what opposition I might have to that, so I'll know what I need to..deal with. And to find out if any of my old Order comrades might be willing to help, if need be.”
"Yes i was trying to check how much blunt force i could absorb in one strike before being knocked out or seriously injured. " she answered simply and casually. She was being honest as well, trying to find and expand her limits. One had to hone their gift and build upon it, Aura was a fighter. SHe nodded her acceptance of Kax looking over her sword.
"A good friend made that for me, a woman named Meld." she said having no idea where Meld was at all. She missed the woman incredibly, they had done so much beautiful work together. Kaz knew what we was talking about as well, it made her smile. It was always nice when someone understood a weapon "Xi is a mutant i fought with, she died in her sleep" she said giving a rosy version of what had happened. She had watched Xi being blown apart by a mortar round.
"A home for mutants......I...." she stuttered at a loss for words. "I am sorry but the beauty in your words, touches me. I Have fought for such a thing my entire life. So much blood...." she said before trying to compose herself. "Lisa mentioned rumors of such a thing but to hear it in words....i hope you can deliver on your words. Our people deserve the chance you are proposing" she went on.
"Opposition? Well i don't know about government approvals for such a thing. They might try and shut you down out of the box. The city has been looking for ways to increase their ability to constrain us but nothing big has come of it so far." she said figuring that would be his first hurtle. "Their are dozens of anti mutant gangs roaming around as well.." she went on thinking about.
"Do you know about M? It's a drug that gives humans mutant powers but cuts their life span. Im curious where such people would fall in your plan. " she said honestly curious. On one hand she had never taken issue with killing the M infected humans but she had also admired that it let them rise slightly beyond being mere cattle.
"I do not know how many of your old friend still work in the order, but it certainly sound's like something to back and to help with" she said interested in the idea. SHe really hoped he was serious and more so he could pull it off. "You were leaving as i was entering from the sound's of it. I am in control of the Order currently, I am not sure if Lisa mentioned that" it was a white lie. She was not the formal leader yet, but their was no one else who seemed to want the job either and Aura knew somebody had to do it.
"If we are needed i am sure we can help, but keep in mind many of our members have.....Colorful pasts such as myself and if your endeavor is honest, our being seen helping you might be used against you" she said honestly. Aura herself certainly helped no ones image when she was seen with anyone.
Kaz hadn't expected his words to elicit the response or emotions they had. He felt a little awkward because of it. Aura clearly felt strongly about the idea, strongly in favor and that could come in handy in the future. Before he responded he allowed her the time she needed to collect herself, ”I've done something like this in a few other countries, but this would be the first time it is done publicly... I.. That's why I'm trying to cover all my bases, I don't know what will or might happen, so anything you or the other Orderlings can do would help.” Kaz turned slightly away from Aura, looking down at the floor for a moment before looking back, ”You said you've fought for this sort of thing your whole life.. I've just started. I've had the resources and ability to do something for almost a decade. I've just been too selfish and focused on myself to do anything. I hope I ca-,” Kaz faltered for a moment, ”I hope it's enough.”
After a moment he shook his head, a little more than necessary, ”No need to worry about the city attempting to stop me from doing this, there's nothing they can do to legally stop it at this point. It's no different than any other private housing development. The gangs on the other hand, if you could have Lisa forward any information you have on them to me, I'll see what I can do to deal with them on my end.”
This 'M' thing literally made Kaz's ears twitch when Aura brought it up. Looking at her sharply, one brow raised, ”What? Like some sort of artificial mutant? Is it permanent once they take it? How common and potent is the stuff?” Kaz had no plans for this M stuff, ”I don't know yet, but if they are still technically human, then..I'd probably deny them. Unlike us, there are hundreds of places for them already, no one discriminating against them.”
”Heh. I didn't realize I was talking to the head honcho. I'm not surprised Lisa didn't mention it. Giving out that sort of free information about the Order isn't something she'd do, even to a former member.” Kaz waved his hand in a dismissive gesture at Aura's mention of the colorful pasts for the Order members, ”Legally and officially I would most likely have to..disagree, with any actions you might take. But considering what the Order stands for and its actions in the past, I don't think anyone would be surprised if you guys took an interest this.” Kaz chuckled a bit, ”If they really took a close enough look, they'd realize who I am and my colorful past. And that's why we do what needs to be done.” He said the last sentence in a somewhat cool, quiet voice.
Looking to the robot which was standing patiently for orders, Kaz moved to it and grabbed the cannon ball from it. Testing its weight he tossed it effortlessly between his hands. ”It's nice and heavy.” Kaz said as he looked Aura over again, ”You can really take a hit from this?” Of course he wasn't questioning her strength or ability, not really, but he didn't think she had a physical mutation like himself or Abyss. It may be worded differently, but it was still the same, 'What's your mutation?' question.
"It is worth mentioning that the order tried something simmeler under our last leader. However she ran an insurance scheme to force humans out of the area surrounding Sanctuary. WHile their are still some humans, we have a large concentration." she admitted considering Lori's actions. "However your idea would seem much cleaner then our attempt was. she said figuring Kaz's methods would likely wind up with a lot less people dead. That would attract attention for him she was sure he did not want.
"With my reputation thats quite understandable. When Frosty, the x-men leader sent me to jail, they read out over two hundred murders and thats just what they had direct evidence of, not to mention other criminal acts. You are right of course in that once the order had learned of this we would have looked into it" she said knowing she would have personally gone to try and make sure the area was what it said it was and safe.
"Their is a man who is working on a cure to being a mutant. I consider such a thing to be a threat and many of the mutants may as well. WHen i met with him he seemed to fell the best shot for peace was wiping our humans along with the mutants." she said recalling the encounter quite well as it had been recent.
With a smile the thick outline around her body thickened to a few inches around her, even under her feet. It stayed just as transparent and seemed to appear out of nowhere at all."I can control the aura around my body]" She said as her Aura vegan to shift and flow like water at her hands which she raised before her face for easy viewing. AT first her Aura flowed forming a dual axe head around her fist then extended out to form a short sword, the axe seeming to take easily to the new shape before the sword flattened itself out into a hammer shape. "Shield and weapon in one. I was trying to see at what impact my Aura could take before breaking and resulting in my injury," she said having not found taht point yet with these robots but knowing it was never good when it happoned. Even extreme use of her Aura, pushing it to its limits often made her sick, but she rarely faced anyone who got her to that point.
Scheme of one kind or another was definitely an Order thing to do, but an insurance fraud scheme wasn't the type he would normally associate with the group, or its members. Or its leaders that he knew. Kaz went through his mind of who might have come up with the idea, but he was drawing a blank. The last person could remember leading the Order was Syn, and it didn't seem like her sort of thing, but he didn't really know her that well, so....
”I did something similar around my place years ago...think I've got most of a two mile radius all bought up. I haven't pushed many of the people out, they make good cover, and bring in some income which I've used for other things. But building a development from scratch allows me to avoid a lot of unnecessary and undesirable actions. Not to mention I'm able to set it up how I want, with room for everything instead of trying to pigeon hole it all in.”
He was a bit surprised that Aura so easily spoke about her trial and incarceration. Even the totals, of what was known at least, made him look at the girl again. To Kaz, Aura had a bit of an innocent face, like that of a kid sister on some tv sitcom. She looked too young to have racked up that many murders. She said it so casually, with no attempt to cover for herself, that Kaz found that he didn't doubt her in the least, though he couldn't help but think there was more too it than just simple murder sprees. ”I remember hearing about Izzy's trial, but I never knew they had tried two of the Order. I have to admit I'm surprised, how'd Sam make that happen? Were you acquitted or something? How'd you get out?”
Kaz was going to leave off and let her respond to his questions when a thought hit him and he couldn't keep himself form asking, ”I know the Stalkers had raided Sanctuary years ago, but is the Order a full public figure now? Known about and where you're located?” He would be surprised if the answer was 'No', but it would make him feel relieved at the same time.
”A cure? Is that even possible?” If it was Kaz could see how many mutants would feel threatened by it, himself included, if it were used maliciously and weaponized, if it could be weaponized. But he knew there were some mutants what would welcome it, like Iris. All she had wanted was to live a normal life, to not fear loosing control of herself to the gems in her back, to not worry about going out of control and hurting other people. ”I've met quite a few mutants who would gladly take a cure if it were handed to them. I don't agree and I'd never want it, but I can't fault any who would. I'd be more concerned with how it was used on those who didn't want it.... Who's trying to make it? Any idea how far along they are?” Rubbing his chin a little, ”Killing everyone would solve the Mutant vs Human problem, I can't argue with that...but it wouldn't happen.”
Kaz was about to ask what she meant by 'aura' when she made it apparent. At first he thought it was coming from her body somehow, like expelling air or sweat, but it was always there surrounding her, fully transparent to be seen. It seemed solid and somewhat nebulous at the same time, giving the impression that he could pass his hand right through it without disturbing the aura in the slightest. Maybe he could. He continued to watch as she changed its shape from an axe to a sword and then what looked to Kaz like a maul. He moved his hand to rap the knuckles of one hand against the thing. It felt solid. ”That seems quite handy and versatile. Could be hard to keep up with if you can change it so easily.”
He looked at the robot again, ”How hard can that thing hit?” Kaz's exposed skin seemed to tighten as he increased the density of his body tissues, his hand growing slightly larger until he could grip the cannon ball easily in one hand at which point he began to crushing it, slowly, with as much effort as a human would an empty pop can. His hand wasn't large enough to cover the whole of it, so as he made a fist his fingers tore clearly defined groves in the metal. As he compressed the steel in his hand, he continued to gather what wasn't in his fist with his fingers until he had crushed the entirety of the steel sphere into a lump roughly the size of a softball.
Kaz might have been showing off, just as she had been, but it was also a fair trade. She had shown him a bit of what she could do, and it was only fair to do the same. ”I'd be happy to help you find that limit if you'd like.” Dropping the lump of metal, he clinched his enlarged fist as he reshaped his other hand's fingers into a series of long blade-like digits, as most of that hand's forearm thickened and seemed to become covered in tough looking plates. His offer wasn't completely altruistic or unselfish, helping Aura would allow him to gauge her abilities personally, which was never a bad thing to know.
"Sam and another mutant called Saphire cornered me in an old bomb shelter in the area. One entrance and a stupid place to be but i had need of direction and privacy. Knowing i could not stand up to either of them in direct combat, i let them take me in. I went to trial, they read a long list of crimes and i admitted to them. The order broke open the cage without much trouble. I have since stopped regarding them Mansion people as idealistic fools and more as simply in the way of our people achieving their place." she said shaking her head in annoyance at the thought of the fools who knowing mislead their people.
"Well we are not in the phone book. However Cold steel worked with the local police to help detain mutants so i would imagine they would know through that. Their has however but no public declaration of our group and membership has been fluid enough where we are difficult to track. No one usually openly talks about the order to random people. So yes we are known to the police most likely as a group but they do not know our current leadership situation. Their are police units that use mutants to handle other mutants however the police in general have a very bad response time in this area and they never knock on our door" she said which was true as far as she knew. The last one who had a rookie, had been murdered on the steps of sanctuary and no evidence had been found."[/color] she said their actual well knowness being hard to track. The order employed no common symbol that were readily displayed.
"If a cure is made it will eventually be used as a weapon. With modern military hardware one could easily distribute it through a water or food supply or simply make it airborne. The risk of allowing such a thing to excist endangers us all" she said simply knowing their were many who night take such a cure willingly. "I know nothing on the progress but an Ambrose Jaager, leader of a rather large company is trying. I did threaten to use the Abyss brothers to relocate his business to the moon but i do not believe that will stop him. she said recalling the encounter. The man was mad and had to be stopped.
"Killing every human would be hard. It may be i am blind to better solutions because of my past, but i can see no future where humans do not try and wipe us out"" she said considering what she had been taught in the past and had seen with her eyes. Humans, most of them would never accept mutant kind and even if they did now they would eventually attack.
"Impressive, that kind of power is formidable. " she said even as her hands were pulled to his changing fingers. It seemed strength was not his only trick and if he was as versatile a she seemed, getting his help could be a great advantage. "I enjoy seeing what mutants can do, the sheer verity and beauty of their gifts never fails to make me smile. If you want to help, i would be grateful. Robots can be overly predictable" she said glancing over at the exercise robot she had been using.
