The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Serena had woken with a start. Luckily for her she didn't have a roommate anymore to be scared of waking with her nightmares. On the other hand... her roommate was no longer there.
She quickly placed a hand on her forehead. She'd broken out in a cold sweat. Serena walked to her bathroom, picking up the glass on her bedside table and took slow gulps of water, feeling it soothe her. She looked in the mirror. She really did look a bit of a mess.
She quickly grabbed some comfortable clothes. A pair of simple trousers and a tank top, and then pulled her dark purple hoodie around herself. She guessed the mansion would still be pretty warm in the hallways, however she wasn't entirely sure about that so she grabbed the hoodie just in case.
Her fingers wrapped gently around the comb and brushed her hair until she looked a little bit less chaotic. She then grabbed her teal hair pins and pushed them into her hair. Glancing at the mirror she decided she now looked a little more like herself and decided to go for a walk.
She grabbed her book, a collection of romantic poetry, and strolled out of her room. The young blonde walked in the direction of the lounges, which could potentially lead to the kitchen if she decided that she required a cup of tea, which knowing her she would end up getting anyway.

Night was rarely a time for sleep with Evelyn. Tonight was one of those times.
For once tired of painting, and sketching, Evelyn found herself wandering the mansion considering what she should do. She didn't feel inclined to watch a movie, and reading had an appeal, but not enough of one to warrant the trip to the library. Eating wasn't necessary, considering she wasn't hungry, and that quickly eliminated many of the options she had at this hour. If Mirror was awake they could keep her company, but a pass by the room revealed the lack of that option.
With a frown, she finally decided she could at least do something useful and go to the danger room to train. Turning one of the corners she headed that way, pausing slightly as she heard the sound of footsteps nearby. Perhaps she wasn't alone at this hour.
Serena supposed she could have stayed in her room to do some writing or something of the like, but she really wanted to go for a walk and help to re-affirm that she was awake and not in some other dream that was about to turn into an unforgiving nightmare.
The gently heated hallways of the mansion's interior provided ample warmth for the girl to walk around in her tank top and trousers. She heard another drawing close by, she turned the corner to come to see a white haired girl who was by her appearence, a few years older than Serena was.
She felt a smile come to her face. "Hello Evelyn." Her voice took on it's usual, warm tone which only seemed more gentle by her accent.
It had actually been several months since Serena had met the white haired mutant, if she recalled correctly it had been around the time that she guided Leon and James to the mansion from the city, although she couldn't place it at either side of that.
No matter, Evelyn had shown herself to be extremely friendly and very perceptive, and Serena was always glad to see a friendly face.

Evelyn knew exactly when she met Serena. It was as hard to forget a date as it was to forget a face, and the encounter streamed through her mind with the buzz of the playback. For a moment, it felt like her vision was intruded by the images, although they were all just in her head. She managed to smile as she faced the girl. Somehow, it seemed her sleep habits hadn't gotten any better.
"How are you Serena?" Evelyn said politely. She paused, hips still tilted towards the Danger Room for a moment, wondering if this was just a passing hello or if this was the start of a conversation.
Serena smiled gently at the other female some more. Serena hadn't had all that much time to study Evelyn's appearance the last time they had met. She was focused on the current superficial damage, meaning the blood which she was coated in as Serena was in a volatile emotional state at the time.
Not wanting to harm the other girl with her power, not forgetting the fact that she was also rather sleep deprived at the time. Serena's sleeping patterns had actually slightly improved since then. It also helped that if she did have a nightmare she wasn't stressed about a roommate any longer. Which was good and bad.
But looking at the other girl, even if she looked like she'd not been sleeping perfectly herself, she was actually a very pretty woman. "I'm doing alright. Just woke up and couldn't get back to sleep is all, how about yourself?" From Serena's experience with Evelyn, she remembered how perceptive the other girl was, so she figured she might as well just go with flat out honesty.
A stray hair fell into her vision, she brushed it back behind her and adjusted her hairpins while awaiting the other woman's response.

Evelyn couldn't resist a smile, although she wasn't entirely sure it was appropriate to smile at this point in time. Something about the situation just felt ironic enough she couldn't resist though. "It seems we're always crossing paths at odd hours. I'm doing fine, just keeping busy. I don't sleep much either." She remarked, in case Serena didn't know.
She motioned over her shoulder in the direction she had been heading. "I was actually thinking about training a little bit. Sometimes a little workout helps me either wake up or feel tired enough to sleep. I'm sure no one would mind if you wanted to join me." She found herself suggesting. She didn't know how Serena would do in the danger room, but they could always put it on an easy setting. That was assuming Serena wanted to go though. It was pretty late. Evelyn was sort of an oddball wanting to practice training at odd hours of the night.
Serena couldn't help but give a hearty smile. It was so contrast to how they had met last time, last time they had both been exhausted and weary, this time although they were both still up late they were both energetic and appeared to want to burn that energy in some way.
She giggled. "That would be lovely thank you. I don't get to practice in an appropriate environment. And it would be nice to actually have a good way of burning excess energy. I might even sleep properly if I tire out."
Serena did find herself wondering a little what exactly Evelyn did for training, the other girl had perception powers or something like that didn't she? She didn't look like a physical demon like Sam either, so Serena's mind pondered what exactly a slim girl like Evelyn could do.
Although, appearances could be deceiving as with Serena herself.
Evelyn nodded slightly as Serena agree, then waved a hand down the hallway. She started moving back towards the Danger Room, waiting for Serena to follow. "You'll have to be a careful when we train though. It won't let you get seriously injured, but scratches and other smaller injuries are definitely real. It's good practice for the outside world though. Which is odd, considering I've fought aliens in the Danger Room..." She shrugged, and let it go.
As they reached the room, she keyed in her ID, and the doors swished open. A few more instructions and the Danger Room prepared for a basic training sequence. Her sai appeared on a nearby table. No use using her real ones and risking breaking them in training. "So...any preference on how we train? Usually it just throws you into a simulation and lets you adapt to it." She tried explaining. Mirror was much better at doing this whole instruction thing.
Serena nodded to Evelyn's comment about being careful. "Don't worry I will be, I have been in here once or twice with Sam for training before. Wait... Sorry, I must have heard wrong. Did you just say Aliens?" Serena blinked hard a couple of times. She shouldn't have been suprised, it seemed that there wasn't a huge amount that the danger room couldn't conjure.
She hadn't been able to practice with her mutation too much as of late, school had been keeping her busy, so this would be a good chance to spread her metaphorical wings.
Serena shrugged as they reached the room and Evelyn questioned her on her preferences. "I really don't mind, as long as I get some exercise and possibly a chance to flex my mutation so my control doesn't lax any more than it already is, I'm happy." She smiled gently at the white haired girl.

Evelyn smiled slightly at Serena's surprise, and shrugged. "That one is sort of a long story. Shorter than the terrible date program Sam tried to put in here... But you don't have to worry about that. We'll just pull up a simple training sequence. Basic targets, more like a shooting range." She paused to tell the computer what to do, then waited as the room started to shift. A table with some weapons appeared to her right.
"You want to try anything? Sometimes it's nice to work with an actual weapon other than your powers. And in your case, it'd probably be a little less draining..." Evelyn suggested, picking up a pair of sai as the room filled with different targets and waited for their queue to start.
Serena gave off a hearty giggle at the response. She placed her face in her palms, shaking her head gently. "That sounds like Sam alright. He's quite the character." Serena almost winced at the memory of her first ever training session with Sam, as she recalled she nearly impaled him. She had gotten a little bit better with controlling her ability, but things like that, and hurting James by accident. Still haunted her.
Serena nodded to the slightly older female gently. "That works for me, I don't really mind a huge amount. I can only actively use my power in short bursts anyway. And I do know a little defensive martial arts." She had learned most of which from her Aikido instructor, and some from Sam as well.
She wondered just how much Evelyn knew in terms of self defense herself. The first time Serena encountered the woman she was taking refuge in the mansion after the riots, she now seemed to live here full time. "So just how much self defense do you know? I remember you getting to the mansion a few months ago after the riots a little... worse for weather."

Evelyn blinked at Serena, then shrugged slightly. "I guess I know a bit. Perfect memory sort of helps with the fast learning thing. I guess it depends on what sort of self defense we're working on. Basic hand to hand I have picked up on pretty well. But my powers aren't exactly, you know, something that'll put me on the dangerous mutants list or something. Against other mutants, I think I'm still sort of at square one." It sounded like an okay answer. Honest at least.
"Training with everyone at the mansion is helping though. As creative as the danger room is, real humans seem to be better for the echoes." Annnddd now she sounded like a freak again.
Serena tilted her head slightly in response to Evelyn's comments. She had actually forgotten somewhat about Evelyn's own mutation. Perfect memory sounded like it was one of those powers that fell on both sides of the scale, being a blessing and also being a curse. Serena herself had an excellent memory most of the time, by no means perfect, but good.
The thought occurred to her that if anyone at the mansion kept a list of potentially dangerous mutants, or mutations, Serena herself was likely on the list. It was a some what gloomy thought. She was constantly aware of the potential danger she could pose to those who were around her on a day to day basis, when blood was around anyway.
She nodded firmly. "I find that training one on one is an excellent way to improve fast. In most things, testing knowledge, martial arts. And in some cases, mutations. Though I'm not sure how I would feel about training one on one with others where my power is involved, it can be a little dangerous."

Evelyn just shrugged. "Honestly I think most powers can be pretty dangerous if used wrong. That's why the danger room can be nice. You can learn better control without just restricting yourself out of worries you're going to hurt the people around you. And having more of a threat of consequences can also be a good motivator....Sorry, not sure how much I'm helping." Evelyn shifted from foot to foot. She still managed to reveal her socially awkward nature from time to time. The echoes babbled on in her head, but she managed to shut her mouth.
"So, training. We're trying that. Program preference?"
Serena smiled softly the other woman as she gave her explanation. She guessed that everything that Evelyn had just said made pretty good sense. It seemed logical to try and practice with your mutation in a properly controlled mutation, though last time her power had been active in the danger room, she had still nearly turned Sam into a shish kebab. Which would have been bad for his career.
She nodded gently with the smile. "It' okay, I understand. You're right to some degree." Serena had spent so much time around James that she could practically smell social awkwardness on other people, and it was definitely coming from Evelyn.
She nodded firmly. "I guess just pick something and we'll go with it." She turned a to Evelyn again and flashed a warm grin.
