Appearance
Ryoga Honda isn't your ordinary mutant by any stretch. A large dragon like creature, he's much larger than any average human. Unlike most dragon's in mythology, Ryoga is shaped more like a theropod dinosaur. He has a large body, covered in ashen gray colored scales, looking and feeling something like a crocodile's hide. He has large hind legs, ending in three clawed digits. His head and neck end with some unique spines, a crown like set growing above his eyes, and a ring of spines around his neck. What makes Ryoga more dragon than dinosaur are his forearms, which have grown into long powerful wings. While only semi-functional, these wings are powerful limbs and make Ryoga quite impressive to look at.
Ryoga is quite large, about 15 feet long total, though nearly half of this is his tail, and his head generally hovers a good 6 feet off the ground, but Ryoga's posture changes greatly depending on what he's doing. The following pictures should help give an idea of what he looks like. The first is a picture of Utahraptor, a large theropod Raptor. He's about the same size as one, though a bit shorter in length. The other is a dragon from the game Skyrim, whose body plan is basically what Ryoga looks like.
Utahraptor (Ryoga's Size)Dragon (Ryoga's body plan and appearance)Ryoga still has hair, which grows from behind the crown spines on his head and down his neck a bit, looking a lot like an animal's mane. It's a dark black, a lot like many Japanese. His eyes are a striking feature, a strong yellow mixed with red splotches, and slit eyes unlike the usual round pupils humans have.
Hair color and style: Black, grows from his head down his neck like a mane.
Skin Tone: Charcoal Gray scales.
Eye Color: Yellow mixed with hints of red.
Height: 6'5" (debatable considering Ryoga's dragon form)
Build: Ryoga has a powerful muscular reptilian body.
Visible mutation: Ryoga is a dragon, large and powerful. He has semi-functional wings instead of arms, and is very dinosaur like in appearance.
Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: None
Other features: Ryoga has unique spines which grown from his head, base of his neck, and some from his back.
Everyday clothing style: Ryoga's body is far too mutated to wear normal clothes.
Uniform: See Above
Sleepwear: In the buff.
Miscellaneous clothing: He's a dragon, he's naked ok!?
CharacterPersonality: The Japanese are known for their sense of civility, appreciation of modesty, and respect for tradition. Being born a divine mythological creature did little for Ryoga's sense of humility, and though he speaks politely to others, it's easy to taste the arrogance within Ryoga's person. He believes himself above others, entitled to their respect and reference. And he readily disdains those who fail to impress or prove themselves to him. Ryoga isn't however naturally malicious, and can be much more benevolent and kind when dealing with friends or family. Ryoga also believes authority has a place in the world, and will generally respond favorably to people of power.
Ryoga also however has a soft spot for the natural world, and believes that those born naturally stronger and better than those around them should have the power in the world, his draconic nature a major factor behind his arrogance and pride. Another factor behind his personality is his personal fear of failure and mediocrity, that nagging feeling that he may not be special, and is instead just a genetic monster always making him question his purpose in the world.
Hobbies/ Interests: Ryoga happens to enjoy novels, collecting and reading them. Though reading can often be difficult for him considering his lack of hands. He's also very fond of enjoying nature, whether it be basking under the sun, or bird watching.
Job or part time job and description: (If applicable. Jobs can be established later through in character RPing.)
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Failure and a lack of purpose, Ryoga was born a creature of legend, and his Father spurned him on with talk of destiny. More than anything he fears a life of anonymity and no great destiny to be had.
Special talents: Ryoga is quite good at bird calls, thanks to years spent watching and marveling at nature.
Morality: Morality is much more complex than something as simple as good and evil. Ryoga was raised by two very different parents, a Mother who believed he'd live a life struggling with his differences, and the world around him. She believed he needed strength and a good heart to grow into a man, while his Father believed him the divine rebirth of a god of destruction. One parent urged him to be a good man, while the other believed he would one day burn the world clean and start anew. So is he good, or is he evil? Perhaps he is both, Ryoga is arrogant, self centered, and selfish. But he is also respectful, intelligent, and driven. Ryoga does what he wants, when he wants, and thinks the world owes him this without question. But he also respects order, and believes in authority. Ryoga is a neutral being, with hints of evil thanks to a lack of purpose to make him good.
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Ryoga is neutral with hints of evil, but could easily be a force for good if it meant a purpose for his life.
MutationsMutation description: Central Theme: Atomic Dragon- Ryoga is a dinosaur like Dragon, a mythical creature of power, ferocity, and nobility. He has great strength, a far stronger sense of smell than a human, and an altered physiology and metabolism compared to your average human. More details below.
Dragonborn: Ryoga was born a Dragon, a primeval avatar of reptilian fury and might. Built like a theropod dinosaur, Ryoga is large and powerful easily weighing a thousand pounds and able to throw that weight around however he wants. Ryoga's body is covered in thick leathery skin, with interlocking dark gray scales atop that. These scales are very strong, and coupled with his thick flesh easily make Ryoga bulletproof to small caliber arms like a handgun. His arms have morphed into semi-functional wings, which are large and majestic but not able to lift him for flight. Ryoga can however glide if he jumps from a high enough point.
Radiotrophic Metabolism: Perhaps more impressive than his dragon like physical form is his special ability to process radiation and convert it into cellular energy. All reptiles make use of solar energy to power their cells during the day, but Ryoga's cells are a bit more unique, able to process various other types of radiation and pull energy from them. This allows Ryoga to absorb far more radiation than other living organisms, including dangerous Gamma rays. Though he can absorb much more than a normal human, Ryoga is not immune to radiation and can still suffer radiation sickness if his body is too overloaded.
Strengths: A large creature, Ryoga easily dwarfs most normal human's. He could easily flip over or push aside a car, or crush a person with his jaws. His thick skin acts as armor, and could easily dissipate most kinds of blunt trauma, and even stop things such as handgun fire. Finally being very large, coupled with his long wings/arms and tail give Ryoga a lot of reach to work with. Though most of Ryoga's senses are good, but not beyond normal human means, his sense of smell is stronger than normal thanks to his great size and reptilian nature.
His specialized cells can also process radiation and convert it into energy to fuel his body, meaning Ryoga rarely needs to eat so long as he gets plenty of sunlight or some other type of radiation to feed on.
Weaknesses and Limitations:Being large is both a strength and a weakness, Ryoga's large body doesn't work so well in civilized areas, and he doesn't fit very well in most rooms or buildings. He's also not very agile considering his bulk, and can easily be out maneuvered by something or someone smaller than himself.
Ryoga's flesh and scales act as a very good set of armor, but he isn't invulnerable. His skin works well against blunt forces and small firearms, but it's not good at stopping piercing weapons or stronger guns. A strong spear or piercing style mutant ability could hurt him, and things like rifles or shotguns work just as well on him as they would a normal human.
Being able to feed on radiation isn't an immunity either, and too much can make him sick just like a normal person. Ryoga can safely absorb twice as much radiation as a normal person, and could even live through three times as much if he had to before risking permanent and lasting damage to his body.
Having a reptiles body also means a weakness to cold. Though Ryoga isn't actually cold blooded, his body is less effective than a mammals body. Extreme chill still slows down Ryoga's body, and eventually would cause him to enter a hibernation like state, or even die.
Physical AbilitiesGeneral Physical Capabilities: In terms of strength, Ryoga is top of the food chain, having plenty of force to exert. He's also quite durable, and in quick bursts of power can put out a lot more than any other creature could. However being large limits agility and the ability to react, since a larger form takes longer to move.
Fighting Style: When you have the body of an animal, namely a large dragon you fight like one.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons: Large amounts of power, slow movements.
History Of Your CharacterEvery one has a destiny, and for some of us that destiny begins long before we're even born. Ryoga's destiny begins in his birthplace Hiroshima, Japan in 1945. The atomic bomb ended a war, wiped out a city, and put his grandmother in a hospital for severe radiation burns. Recovery was not easy, and it took many years before she was strong enough to bear a child, which she did, a daughter. Ryoga's mother was born completely healthy, and the family believed a good omen of things to come. It was his mother Saki who would eventually bear what they believed the curse from the bombing of their home. Years into the future, after their home had been rebuilt, and the traumatic past behind them that Ryoga was conceived. Conceived in the rebuilt Hiroshima, Ryoga's life began as a believed failed pregnancy. While Saki was pregnant with him the doctor's found the baby inside her was not normal.
Saki's womb carried not a boy, but an egg. The doctor's were baffled and believed some part of her had been damaged by the radiation her mother long ago contracted. Though second generation Hibakusha rarely suffered genetic problems, it seemed Saki was doomed. She refused however to have an abortion, or surgery to solve the issue, feeling sure that her baby would be born. His father Kyosuke seemed to start losing himself at this point. He believed Saki was cursed, and that she could never bear him a son. Ryoga's birth was the second step to divide his parents and split him between two paths. Saki birthed an egg, which in turn soon hatched astonishing all there, including his father. Born a scaly boy with the eyes of a dragon, his father believed Ryoga was not a man or mutant, but a modern day god.
Over the next twenty years, Ryoga's life became very interesting. His mother believed his life would be hard, and he would need strength to overcome this curse from his past. She named him Ryoga, a name meaning strong fang, hoping that he would draw strength from his differences to overcome. Kyosuke took a different route, and believed his son was a reborn Orochi, a great serpent of destruction to clear away the cursed world and start anew. He began a cult, comprised of dozens who eagerly worshiped the dragon boy. Torn between a mother who preached to him to discover his humanity, and his father and a crowd of zealous follows, Ryoga developed into an arrogant, but respectful man. He respected the order of the men who worshiped him, but he loved his mother just as much. He was torn, unsure of what his life was truly meant to be.
The choice however, was made for him when his mother confided in him one day. She knew this cult, his father's deranged dreams were the ravings of mad men. She asked her son, begged him to seek a purpose in a new world. She'd learned of a place in America, where many people of unique backgrounds and special powers lived, mutants. Ryoga was bothered that his mother would assume he was just a mutant, some after effect of something that happened decades before his time. But she believed he was meant for better things, not to be the figure head of his father's warped cult, and burgeoning religion. A man was not meant to be worshiped for what he seemed, but respected for what he did. Ryoga knew of all the people in his life, that his mother loved him the most, and cared for him the most. For her, he would leave this life, and learn what purpose he was meant for on his own. And so she began a plan with some friends loyal to herself and Ryoga, and the world's greatest smuggling operation began.

Sample RP:The Cult of Orochi compound was a large mansion on the outskirts of Hiroshima Japan, and it housed perhaps Japan's largest secret and mutant, Ryoga Honda. Known as Orochi to those that lived here, only his mother still called him by name. And today would be his last night in this place, his home of twenty years. Ryoga spent this last day pondering if he should leave his home. He sat atop the alter in the yard, enjoying the sun as the night of his departure approached.
Would leaving his home truly help him find a purpose? Would America clarify what path he was meant to follow? His mother treated him with love, but did not see his form like father did, was she wrong? He couldn't answer this question. Ryoga turned and faced the house where his family lived, raised him, and eventually started a cult of men who worshiped him like a god.
This path was one of respect, honor, and power. Wouldn't any one want this life? But what was this nagging feeling in his gut that told him there was more to it. As if to help settle his mind, his father approached from the house. Ryoga spoke first, wondering what purpose his father had. "
It is unusual to see you so early Father."
"
As always, I'm simply in awe of you my Lord. Though I was wondering if Saki was with you."
Ah, Mother was busy preparing his escape from this place. Father would be curious where she was. "
I have not seen Mother today, I'm sorry I can't be of help. But I did wish to speak with you Father."
"
What bothers you my Lord?" His father was respectful as ever, never treating Ryoga as a son but as something to be worshipped.
"
You needn't be so respectful Father, you are my Father after all, you are the reason I exist. And I've been wondering...what exactly I exist for. You and the rest see me as some coming force of destruction. But why Father, what is it I should be cleansing from this world, and what makes you think I could cleanse it?"
His father's face changed, as if the usual smile he showed was a mask that had cracked. "
Because you are a god my son, the serpent reborn. Yamato no Orochi was a creature of destruction, or fear, and so are you. You will cleanse this world, and we shall rule it after that time." His father's ambition came out finally, and Ryoga knew that this cult was not truly for him, but his father. His father wanted one path, and his mother another. This was not his life, he was still not on his own path.
Though Ryoga didn't know what path he was fated to follow, he needed to discover that on his own. "
Your ambition is great Father, truly grand in purpose. I believe change is coming soon father, sooner than any of us thought." His father eyed him suspiciously but then smiled his false smile once more.
"
As you wish Orochi, as you wish." He turned and walked away, and Ryoga took a deep breath. It was time, time to learn what he truly was and what he would do with these gifts.
