The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Serena nervously walked forwards through the hallways, leading Sylar. She was going to the rough area she believed that Tses was in. She was rather... unconfident about her plan. She knew that Tses and Sylar weren't the most social of creatures, but surely if they understood that neither of them would normally do something like that, the two of them would be okay.
She walked, Sylar trailing behind her after he had just eaten. Serena hadn't really eaten anything. She wasn't hungry. She was concerned about the two of them.
Thinking on it, Serena probably should have seen Doc Prof before bringing Sylar over here... That wasn't the best plan, but she could do that afterwards, provided the two of them didn't kill eachother.
This really was, a terrible plan. But Serena was going to go through with it anyway. She would put herself between the two of them.
Tses was not exactly the most well behaved of mansion residents. It was probably more evident the longer she stayed, and she was pretty sure staff members kept a close watch on her. That didn't exactly keep her on her best behavior though.
From the kitchen, there was a large amount of clanging and cursing, and eventually a thud that left a slight lingering film of powder in the air. Trying to cook was never easy. Trying to cook when you couldn't read...
"Crap!"
The splatter of eggshells mingled with the thud of the bag of flour.
Sylar marched behind Serena happily, his mind temporarily sated with the food she'd given him. However he wasn't quite aware what Serena was intending for him as they moved in search of Tses, the girl he'd had something of a "rough" first impression with. As they walked through the Mansion, Sylar marveling again at just how large this place was, he spoke. "So um Serena, what exactly are we doing walking around? It's not that I don't mind visiting your home, it's really nice, Just the walking seems kind of aimless."
However a sound in the distance caught Sylar's words and stopped him for a moment. It was a brief statement, just a word actually but he could recognize the voice enough to start feeling nervous. "Uh Serena, you're not gonna have me meet that girl now are you?" Serena had talked about Tses quite a bit after she found him in the sewer and seen the aftermath of his encounter with the explosive lass.
Serena turned to the sound of the noise. Sounded like it was coming from the kitchen. "I guess we should check that out. Probably just some of the younger students failing with the kitchen again." Serena giggled.
She turned back to Sylar. "Yes, We are. I want her to know that you didn't mean any harm and that's not really you. Keep calm, I'm not going to let it get out of hand. But you are both my friends and you've both had it rough, so I want the two of you to come to some sort of an understanding." Serena's voice was very sweet and gentle, yet firm.
This was an issue she would not budge on. She wanted to two of them to meet under better conditions. And she was fairly sure that Tses might be able to understand some of what Sylar goes through, at least with the stealing.
She was also confident that if things got out of hand, she could stop both of them. Serena was not messing around.
She walked in the direction of the noise. "Come on Sy." She said in a soothing voice.
The cursing in the kitchen grew louder as the two approached, and Tses kicked the bag of flour as she plopped what she suspected the next ingredients in this 'cake' was on the counter. There were the basics: frosting, sprinkles, cake mix, milk, but the measurements and other technicalities were where she started giving up. The flour had been a mistake while getting the sprinkles, a rather large and powdery mistake at that.
Hearing voices down the hallway Tses paused, and looked around at what she'd created. Two options were at hand: owe up to the chaos, or pretend like someone else had done it. Tses casually started sifting through the refrigerator for something to microwave. She found a container of spaghetti leftovers and plopped them in as the voices reached the entryway to the kitchen.
Sylar could figure out what that noise was, a lone person in the kitchen. Light steps, probably a girl. "Sounds like just one person." He responded to Serena's guess at the identity of the noise. So she did intend to just waltz him up to that Tses girl and expect the two of them to have a dialogue. Today was going to end with more bruising, he just knew it.
"I get that you're super friendly and kind Serena, that's why I like you. But that girl...she kind of explodes things ya know." He brought up Tses's power, which Sylar was not so fond of experiencing again. "Can't I at least hide behind a wall, or door, or in another room for this?" He asked jokingly. If this Tses girl was Serena's friend he would have to apologize, not even for Tses's sake, but Serena's. Fixing this issue would solidify their friendship more, and that was a good thing.
Serena urged him to follow her towards the noise in the kitchen, and Sylar followed behind, shrugging a bit as Serena led him off to what could only be more trouble. As they walked he pulled his hood tightly around his head and thought about how mutant girls really were way too much trouble.
Serena continued walking in the direction of the sounds with Sylar. One person, in her experience at the mansion, was enough to cause a massive amount of destruction... for example a hiccuping explosive mutant.
She turned her head slightly to Sylar as they walked and narrowed her eyes at him slightly. "She is NOT going to throw explosives at you, not if I have anything to say about it. And no, but you can hide behind me if you like. Don't worry, I will NOT let either of you get out of hand." She said firmly, with quite a high degree of confidence.
Her self confidence was building, this was definitely a good thing. She would need to be confident in her own abilities if she was going to be dealing with an explosive mutant and a sewer monster.
She took a breath and walked into the kitchen. Chaos. Someone had been trying to cook. The operative work here, was trying.
"You look like you need a hand with that." Serena said sarcastically from the doorway as she stepped into the room.
Tses looked up as Serena entered, and glanced over at the mess on the ground. She shrugged and motioned to the microwave. "Nah, got it under control. Can push buttons just fine." The sarcastic sneer on her face wavered slightly as she noticed Serena wasn't alone.
"Keeping pets?" She said in a cold voice, focusing on the other figure. She didn't know what Serena was doing, but she was already not a fan of it.
Serena offered comfort to Sylar, promising that things would go well and he would end up entirely unexploded. Generally the boy believed Serena word for word, but his gut knew this little meeting couldn't end without some sort of trouble. "Hiding behind a girl sounds kind of lame. I met her once, I'm just expecting her to act the same." He commented, knowing that a girl as feisty as Tses was in the face of a deadly monster was probably never amicable. "I'll try and be polite." He promised, though his voice lacked any confidence. Sylar was a flighty boy, and would dart off at the first sign of explosions, knowing that while he might be an invader here, Serena was safe and welcome. No need to play defender or hero.
Serena walked into the kitchen first, speaking with the person therein. Sylar waited a moment, and then turned the corner to enter the room as well, one of his claws slithering in first to wrap around the archway of the door before his head turned in to look at Tses. Sylar's eyes couldn't recognize most people by their image, after all most women kind of looked the same simply based on figure and height, but that voice was one he couldn't forget. He never forget anything that was dangerous. The girl's voice changed as she recognized him as well, quickly turning her tone from calm to cold. "It would seem I'm the invader this time." He said simply, his voice as cold as Tses's was, showing he was no fan of meeting her once again either.
The boy entered the room slowly, keeping his figure in the doorway in case he wanted to dash out of her, but now in the light Tses might get a better look at him, his black features painfully obvious when scrutinized beneath the light. The most obvious of which was the tail behind him, holding high in the air like a scorpion, a threat gesture to show that Sylar was as uncomfortable right now as Tses was.
Serena's confidence took a slight... hit. As both Tses and Sylar reacted badly to each other's presence. She shook it off quite rapidly. Sylar was going to need to deal with this sooner or later, and Tses WAS an adult, so she should be able to as well. Serena wasn't going to allow herself to be caught in the middle.
She spoke firmly as soon as both of them had commented. "Sylar isn't a pet, he is a friend, and neither of you are invaders, both of you are my friends whom were injured or in some form of bad condition which I brought here so that you would be able to receive help. Because this was the easiest and most efficient way to do it with both of you." She spoke firmly, yet her tone was gentle and soothing.
She took a glance between them and then leaned against the wall gently. "Both of you took a bit of a beating from each other, and neither of you are bad people... Just a little morally dubious at times." that sounded better in her head. Yup, definitely.
Tses looked at Serena suspiciously while the microwave buzzed behind her. She crossed her arms and rolled her eyes, trying not to get too defensive. But the look she shot Sylar was downright dark. Friend or not, he beat her up for no good reason and she was less than thrilled to see him in daylight.
"He started it." Mature, adult, right. She turned back to the microwave. "Well, you can be friends with who you want, but he was the one who got territorial. It wasn't my idea to be in the sewer in the first place." She grumbled under her breathe. Light flickered across her arms momentarily as her temper sparked, then it faded again.
Serena didn't leave much room for Sylar or Tses to finish what they thought about starting as she stepped in and immediately set the mood for this confrontation. Her strong stance immediately leashed any aggression Sylar might have had, he really was just like a dog sometimes and it'd bother him if he could realize it. However being defended as a friend did feel nice, it was more than most people ever gave him, a lot more.
"You heard her, I only came because she asked me to." He spoke, his tone less anxious but still pretty monotone. Serena referred to him as morally dubious, a nice term for a serial burglar with mild cannibal tendencies. Though Serena didn't know that, and he had no intention of revealing what Roach was teaching him now or probably ever. All he needed was control, so he could deal with problems just like this, like a person and not a monster.
Sylar couldn't see the look on Tses's face, blindness being an advantage sometimes. However she accused him of starting it, which was technically true but he didn't think so. "I started it? What were you even down there for?" Sylar asked. "Nobody but me goes into the sewers, mostly because I'm down there!" Sylar finished derisively. He stopped for a second, knowing Serena wanted him to come at this other girl calmly, like a human being. Even if he wasn't one, he could act civilized around his friend. "Look, I didn't mean to actually hurt you. People usually feint or run when I jump them. I was just trying to scare you off and out of my home." Sylar's tail was swishing behind him audibly, a sign of frustration.
"Besides, look at me. Do you think I can handle things like a reasonable person?" Sylar insulted himself a bit, but his point was valid. He couldn't help acting like an animal, it was his nature thanks to his curse of a mutation.
Serena was leaning against the door frame, at the very least Sylar was standing up for himself slightly. Even if he was kind of laying the blame for venturing into the mansion on Serena. Which she certainly didn't mind, as it was most definitely her idea to bring him here.
Her arms were crossed, her fingers wrapping gently around her thin arms. Serena hadn't really been eating much recently, as usual. And it kind of showed. To be fair, she didn't exactly look like she was full of health normally with her very fair skin tone and frail look normally.
"Sy, regardless of why she was down there, scaring people isn't the nicest thing to do, I get that you didn't mean to let it get out of hand though." She then nodded towards Tses. "Also, I meant to ask what exactly you were doing down there?" she asked quizzically.
The blonde didn't actually look so fatigued or worn anymore, which was strange considering she had received such little sleep. But she had something she wanted to get done, she could go and pass out after it was finished.
"As I'm sure you've gathered by now anyway, Sylar isn't exactly a malicious monster who targets people to terrorise or kill them." Serena added softly.
>>"Also, I meant to ask what exactly you were doing down there?"
Tses had tuned out part of the conversation while she messed with the microwave, but after the PING that signaled the food was done the question slipped in and Tses was forced to turn, shrugging with boredom. "Someone threw me down there. Someone who doesn't approve of my ambition to follow my role model Aladdin into the world of thieves. What does it matter? He locked me down there, I was walking out, guard puppy here decided to make a big deal about it and I ....blew stuff up in his face. The end." She popped the microwave open and started looking around for some silverware. Had to be somewhere in the middle of this mess....
>>"As I'm sure you've gathered by now anyway, Sylar isn't exactly a malicious monster who targets people to terrorise or kill them."
"Isn't he? Because that's pretty much what it looked like from my point of view. You know, you're sweet and all kid but you need to pick your friends better. You got a sewer monster and a professional pick-pocket in your kitchen right now. Who knows what monsters you're hiding under your bed at this point." She shot the kid a glance. That would explain part of the loss of sleep... She stuck her tongue out at Sylar and then took a bite of whatever food she just cooked in the microwave.
Sylar cringed just slightly as Serena pointed out a fault in him, but he did know being a terrifying underground monster wasn't a nice thing to do. He wasn't trying to be nice after all, nice just wasn't his thing. But he'd have to play nice if he intended to keep any friends. Might be time to work on how soon he jumps into the Boogeyman role in the near future. Or at least pick targets that Serena doesn't know.
"Nice...is difficult for me Serena." He said to explain his actions, knowing it wouldn't be the most valid of excuses. Serena did however defend that he wasn't some mindless beast, at least not on purpose or all the time. And he was working on that, he even had a mentor helping him learn control now! The Tses girl didn't seem to care though, explaining she was thrown into the sewers against her will, which...might be the truth, Sylar didn't know how she got there. However she blew stuff up in his face was not a detail explanation of the girl's attitude and attacking back with serious force. "Blew stuff up in his face...the end? You threw freaking explosives at my face, how'd you think I'd react? I don't want to seriously hurt people, but it's really hard to turn off if that person explodes my face woman." He said with a sneer.
This Tses girl was plenty irritating, but her calling him a monster was nothing knew. Sylar knew exactly what he was, and he was coming to terms with it. The girl should have just known better than to pick a fight with him. "I am the monster under the bed, however if I was evil I wouldn't have carried your unconscious beaten body here to find a doctor." Sylar hissed at her, part of him regretting bringing the girl here after assaulting her, but knowing if he hadn't done the right thing he'd get a lot more than a stern lecture from Serena.
