Sam felt his body being launched out of a mirror from inside the store, as people were busy trying to lift the heavy televisions and other larger appliances. ”You are all under arrest for breaking and entering and attempted theft!” Sam yelled as the air around him became colder. His body slowly started to ice over as he looked back towards the mirror he was just tossed from. ”Why is it people always think they can get away with looting when there are people rioting?” he felt the few people who broke in drop what they were carrying and run out the window they recently broke.

Sam wasn’t giving chase far from it he took a step outside the window himself and looked at the store, ”I bought headphones from here one time, they were terrible.” he said offhandedly as he spotted the would be robbers run down the street to the nearest alley-way. Could have caught them? Yes would he though? No. He didn’t think it was needed the police’s resources were spread thin as it was now this included the one eyed X-Man and his teammates.

”Think they’ll be too afraid to break in anywhere else.” Sam said guessing they weren’t career criminals but rather the kind that makes a bad call. If they were career ones they probably would have pulled guns on him and the mirror where Maya was currently lurking. ”Where was the next location?” Sam asked curiously stepping back into the store and walling the broken window up with a thick layer of ice.

A second passed and the store became darker now that the main source of light was obscured. After calling in their current location on the police radio he was glad to hear that the units in the area would try to keep an eye out for the current store to make sure there weren’t any more looters. However they had bigger things to worry about, like all the career criminals and rioters that are looking for an excuse to shoot and or kill someone.

Walking back towards the mirror where Maya was he held his hand out so he could be pulled in, ”Your still not sore about the last training session are ya?” Sam asked giving the female shifter a smirk.

Just another day on the job.

While watching her team leader scare a bunch of kids away from looting a store, Maya wondered how it all came to this. When did she turn from street rat to superhero to a grown-up man/woman who thought using mutant powers to battle criminals was just a normal day's routine?...
Well, until it all went to hell in New York City, that is.

>>”You are all under arrest for breaking and entering and attempted theft!... Why is it people always think they can get away with looting when there are people rioting?... I bought headphones from here one time, they were terrible.”

"All in a good day's work" Maya smirked, sinking the arrow back into the quiver on her hip and flinging the bow that she had been holding ready on her shoulder. The edges of the mirror were frosting over from Sam's display of power.

>>”Think they’ll be too afraid to break in anywhere else. Where was the next location?”

"Jewelry shop just down the street" Maya answered, tapping the X-comm that provided them with a live and steady stream of police emergencies. Reaching out of the mirror she pulled Sam back in.

>>”Your still not sore about the last training session are ya?”

"Do I look sore?" Maya huffed, pulling Sam on to the next reflecting surface. he was on a mission to make her pay for the DR session with Eve, and damned if she was gonna let him have the satisfaction of showing that she was broken. "The dragon was a nice touch. But I don't think I deserved the Aliens."

Once he was pulled into the ‘Mirror’s world’ he smirked to the girl, ”I like to think I’m the Michelangelo of the danger room.” he said simply enough as they headed to the next stop. Passing a few exits or entrances what ever Maya liked to call them he spotted a few people on the way. Some talking some, some were just staring into the mirror.

Sam’s eye locked onto a pair of blues as he passed through another. ‘Still so weird’ thought Sam as they kept moving along to the Jewelry store down the street. ”Punishment fit the crime I think, Eve got tossed around by Aliens figured you might as well.” Sam said as he was looking through the reflective surface into a jewelry store where there were already some looters picking and choosing what ever they liked.

Sam spotted one with a gun and hopped out of the mirror shooting a beam of blue at him. Poor guy didn’t see it coming he was busy looking for cops outside rather than inside. ”You’re all under arrest!” Sam said as two more pulled guns and another three grabbed their duffle bags and ran for the door.

”No one leaves!” Sam called out to Maya as he ducked down and shot at one of the gunman with another beam of ice as the other one was busy trying to hit him. ”Seriously though Mirror, maybe next time you won’t try showing off for a pretty blonde.”

>>”I like to think I’m the Michelangelo of the danger room.”

"What, the turtle?..."

>>”Punishment fit the crime I think, Eve got tossed around by Aliens figured you might as well.”

"Hey! She did not get tossed around! You can check the log. I just had her call the shots while..."

>>”You’re all under arrest! No one leaves!”

"Gah." Maya sighed as Sam left the mirror and followed him. These guys had guns, and she had no intention getting shattered by a stray bullet. Pulling an arrow she shot one of the guys through the arm, and then proceeded to kick the other one in the back of his leg just as he was taking aim at Sam.

>>”Seriously though Mirror, maybe next time you won’t try showing off for a pretty blonde.”

"I was not..." the guy swung the gun around to aim at her instead, but the next kick sent the weapon flying. "I was not showing off! She was just..."

The guy did not go down easy. It took a punch before he finally held up his hands in surrender. Maya picked up the gun and took it apart before she dropped it back on the floor.

"... she was just being a brat."

Sam smirked as Maya pegged a guy with an arrow then took down another one of the guys. Sam shot out a few more beams of ice before everyone was dispatched a stray bullet nicked his ice armor which he quickly mended as soon as the bullet passed through. Grabbing onto one of the gunman who was now disarmed Sam was pinning him against the wall till he used his feet to push off into Sam. Letting go of the guys hands Sam brought them up into a guard and ducked as soon as the guy turned trying to take a swing at him.

”Right, and her being a brat made you want to take her into the danger room. I get it. Not the hold on-“ Sam took a step back as another swing grazed the top of his hair Sam finished with an uppercut followed by grabbing the guy by the back of the head and bringing his knee into his chest forcing even more air out till the guy dropped, ”As I was saying, not the first time I brought a girl into the danger room but you should have known better.” Sam shook his head making note that Maya didn’t argue that Eve was a pretty blonde.

Smirking and picking up the guy that was knocked down Sam created thick ice cuffs and then froze the cuffs to the floor so he couldn’t get free. The guy grunted and Sam nodded his head, ”You should have surrendered.” Looking over to the other guys around the bank and the two nearest Maya he nodded his head to where the guy was cuffed to the ground. ”Move them all here, we’ll put a bow on them for the police.” Sam walked over to the two further towards the door and grabbed them both not really putting up that much of a struggle due to both of them having their arms frozen over.

”It was on X-Man setting, you don’t do that to newbies. You were so showing off.” Sam pushed the two down next to the first and iced over their feet so they were sitting next to the one who was still cuffed. ”Me thinks Mirror has a crush.” taunted Sam as he cuffed the other two to the first one.

>>”Right, and her being a brat made you want to take her into the danger room. I get it. Not the hold on- As I was saying, not the first time I brought a girl into the danger room but you should have known better.”

Maya huffed and pushed the guy she had been fighting to the floor, kneeling into his back until Sam was finished taking out his share of the criminals. These ones were definitely better prepared than then ones before. But not better trained.

>>”You should have surrendered. Move them all here, we’ll put a bow on them for the police.”

"There is always time for a bow..." Maya muttered with a smirk as she dragged her captive over. She tried not to muse about what Sam had been doing with girls in the Danger Room...

>>”It was on X-Man setting, you don’t do that to newbies. You were so showing off. Me thinks Mirror has a crush.”

"Wha..." Maya blinked, her mouth slightly open.

"Wait, that chick is hitting on another chick?" one of the less injured captives piped up "How do I get on that mutie team of your..."

Maya's fist caught him straight in the nose in a splatter of blood.

"I've got bigger balls than you, sweetheart. Now shut the **** up."

The punch to the nose and the comment from the would be criminal caused Sam to laugh, actually laugh for the first time in some time. It took him a few seconds but when he gathered his breath and continued to prop the criminals up and freeze them to the floor he added, ”Bigger balls huh?” Sam asked before he almost started to laugh again, ”So I take it you asked her out then?” another blast of ice and the last of the criminals were frozen to the floor. It would take them some time to get free unless any of them had super strength from what he saw they didn’t.

Touching his ear again and willing some moisture to turn into a bow of ice he told dispatch the coordinates, ”Five armed men waiting for a pick up. Your welcome.” looking back to Maya and pointing to the mirror he asked, ”Next stop?”

Sam walked over to the mirror ready to jump in once again to their next destination, however this wasn’t done in silence, ”Look, I know you just ended things with another girl…” Sam tried to think of the name but couldn’t, he never met the girl so there wasn’t a face to the name meaning it was easily forgotten. He had a hard enough time trying to think of the own girls he was talking to, let alone the Ex’s and he had a lot of those.

”All I’m saying is you were trying to show off so if you didn’t ask her out yet you are dropping the ball.” Sam said waving his hands in an off hand manner making everything around them including the gunman from moments ago just another day in the life of an X-Man.

>>”Bigger balls huh? So I take it you asked her out then?”

"That's not... dammit Sam!"

Did he really have to talk about this in front of the criminals they just captured? The X-men had a low reputation as it were for getting their asses handed to them in public, they did not need the personal drama in the tabloids too.

>>”Five armed men waiting for a pick up. Your welcome. Next stop?”

"Car dealership three blocks down" Maya muttered, pulling Sam back into the mirror.

>>”Look, I know you just ended things with another girl… All I’m saying is you were trying to show off so if you didn’t ask her out yet you are dropping the ball.”

"Her name was Ami" Maya sighed, realizing she was not getting out of this conversation until Sam had made his point "And she dumped me after I caught two bullets for another woman. Maxine Ralls. Remember her?"

Maya pulled Sam into the mirror again as they headed to the next stop a car dealership. He could only assume what was going on and shortly he’d see it. With Maya’s ability he was pretty sure he could get a view of everything and anything in the dealership so he was okay with not knowing all the details.

Ami. He made a note to try and remember that name; he still didn’t have a face so it would be difficult to remember it. Sam looked out the nearest reflective surface and spotted a squad car heading in the direction they just came from. Sam nodded his head once in approval then turned his attention back to Maya, ”Should I?” another name without a face. Sam sighed slightly then shrugged, ”So you, got dumped, after taking two bullets for another woman….” Sam said slightly surprised.

”You’d think this Ami chick would figure out that is kind of what we do at this point.” Sam shrugged again as a bunch of cars were visible via the mirrors they were in. Sam spotted three guys one standing on top of a car bashing in the windshield with a crowbar while the other two were busy with property damage. Sam kept moving till he was closer to one of the guys knocking off the side view mirrors. ”How long were you dating this chick for anyways? Two bullets and she ends it?” Sam asked as the guy hitting the side view mirrors jumped back as Sam’s fist shot out from the mirror he was about to hit.

The kid fell back and Sam went to a large mirror to exit, ”Couldn’t handle the danger you were in? Surprisingly that had never been an issue for me. I usually let the girls know what they were getting into before we start anything. But that is just me.” Sam landed on the pavement and reached his hand up and shot a cool blast at the guy he punched seconds ago. ”So who is this Maxine chick?” Sam wasn’t really concerned about why Maya took two bullets but rather that he did. A small smile touched his lips glad he had the opportunity to teach someone like Maya. Though he’d never verbalize it.

>>”Should I? So you, got dumped, after taking two bullets for another woman… You’d think this Ami chick would figure out that is kind of what we do at this point. How long were you dating this chick for anyways? Two bullets and she ends it? Couldn’t handle the danger you were in? Surprisingly that had never been an issue for me. I usually let the girls know what they were getting into before we start anything. But that is just me.”

Maya let Sam out of a mirror before she circled around and dropped out a few feet away, pointing an arrow with a guy with a crowbar.

"Put it down. Now."

These guys were younger and obviously just drunk on random rampage - otherwise they would have been stealing the cars, not breaking them. The uniform and the bow were impressive enough to make them reconsider.

"Back away. Good. Keep going. Back away all the way to the door, and then get the **** out of here."

Once things were under control, Maya allowed herself a frown over Sam's stream of opinions on Ami.

"Well, it wasn't like..."

>>”So who is this Maxine chick?”

Maya blinked and actually looked over at her team leader.

"Maxine? Maxine Ralls? The redhead that told mutants to burn the city down?... Does that ring a bell?"

Seriously, how was this guy running the X-men?...

Another three down. Thought Sam as he shifted back towards Maya and shrugged, ”She was the hot redhead with wolf news right?” Sam asked not a hundred percent sure on who she was. It wasn’t the first time someone said ‘burn the city down’ and seeing as the city loved to see Sam work hard he was pretty sure she wouldn’t be the last. Walking over towards Maya and waiting for another tug into the mirror world Sam called in the location again for another clean up.

”You know damn well I’ve been busy adjusting after the last couple months. That includes not watching the news.” Internet was a different story though he caught a glimpse of the aftermath of the beatings and the comments about the cops being untouchable.

That infuriated Sam to no end in fact he wouldn’t have minded to find out who said that so he could personally have a word with him. Unintentionally the air around him got cold and the few mirrors around him started to frost over a bit. Only realizing after what he was doing Sam took a breath and severed the hold with his powers.

”Still doesn’t answer why Ami kicked ya to the curb. Unless… you fooling around with the redhead?” Sam asked getting a smug smirk on his face. ”Which would also explain why you didn’t ask out blondie.” Sam let out a small chuckle, ”People say I’m bad. You dog you.”

>>”She was the hot redhead with wolf news right?”

Maya rolled her eyes.

"God Sam, could you be any further out of the loop?"

>>”You know damn well I’ve been busy adjusting after the last couple months. That includes not watching the news.”

"It wasn't the news, it was the mission briefing..."

Maya walked back to a mirror that had not been smashed, and noticed that it was icing over. Turning around she arched an eyebrow at Sam and waited for the ice to disappear.

>>”Still doesn’t answer why Ami kicked ya to the curb. Unless… you fooling around with the redhead?... Which would also explain why you didn’t ask out blondie. People say I’m bad. You dog you.”

"Wh... No! I'm not fooling around with Maxine! She is..."

Sam shook his head smirking, ”You got some weird friends… then again who am I to talk. I dated hitwomen who were trying to kill me.” Sam let out a laugh, ”They weren’t very good at their jobs.” with that Sam walked closer to Maya and put his hand on her shoulder, ”Come on ya dog.” he pointed in the direction of a bank two blocks over, ”Bank robbery, guys think they got it easy with the lack of police. Dumb bastards.”

Sam waited till he was pulled into Mirror’s world again before he started up his conversation about Maya’s love life. ”Look I’m just saying if the red head is just a friend that you took two bullets for it seems to me that Ami wasn’t too rational.” Sam paused then laughed, ”Then again the other sex is hardly rational.” Sam shrugged his shoulders and continued on in the mirror world till he could see the outside of the bank from a window shop mirror.

”That’s the one. They didn’t say who is robbing it but they said they were armed.” Sam kept moving forward and started to scope out the inside of the bank while trying not to be seen.

Nudging Maya on the shoulder and pointing to a guy covered in purple skin in a white suit holding an Uzi nonchalantly as he argued on the phone. “No, I need a helicopter, I don’t care if they are in use. I will kill one person for every half hour you don’t comply with ‘ALL’ of my demands.” Hanging up the phone he waved the gun around in a circle and looked to a few other guys standing with assault rifles aiming them at a few hostages.

”So you still haven’t said why your not asking out blondie.” Sam whispered to Maya as he was looking for a good point of entrance that would result in no deaths or injuries. Just then the purple guy pointed to two of the gunman, “Right you two go into the vault and start cleaning house. I’ll be in shortly to help.” Sam smirked and looked over to the vault through another reflection.

>>”You got some weird friends… then again who am I to talk. I dated hitwomen who were trying to kill me. They weren’t very good at their jobs... Come on ya dog. Bank robbery, guys think they got it easy with the lack of police. Dumb bastards.”

Maya sighed and pulled Sam into the nearby mirror. As much of a player as he was, she could not deny that Sam had experience with women. Weird and often shady, but experience none the less.

"Hey, I am the other sex."

All the time. Depending on the definition of 'other'.

"... yeah ya're right, nothin' about my love life is rational."

Ami had her reasons, and so did Maya. It was not really a one-sided breakup.

Oh joy. The city was going to hell in a hand basket. Just like Maya's love life. Go figure. Must have been a two-in-one basket...

Maya eyed the man with the uzi. Mutant, huh. This was going to get intense.

"Because she is an annoying, spoiled little brat that's why. And I gotta clear some things up with Miss I'm Gonna Burn New York Down first. I'm not making the same mistake twice, I'm not that dumb... talking about mistakes, ya wanna take this one while I hop down to the vault?..."

”No point in changing the subject!” Sam whispered a little louder than he was before. ”She might be spoiled and a brat but at least she isn’t as stubborn as you.” Sam smirked as Maya added a little more information to the picture about the reporter, ”Ah, so something did happen!” Sam looked as the two armed robbers vanished to the vault and Sam nodded his head, ”Go ahead, but we aren’t done with this!” Sam lunged forward from Mirror’s world and landed in the real world.

”I’m here for negotiations!” Sam said landing on his feet and lifting his hands into the air in a surrender like pose hoping the guy with the Uzi wasn’t the type to be surprised. “Ah my negotiator, Sam Johnson correct?” Sam paused and nodded his head surprised someone actually knew his full name and used it. “Oh don’t be so surprised, your in the news quite often and from what I’m told you have a mean right hook.” Sam smiled, ”and a meaner left.” the purple guy smiled and pointed the gun and a young woman closest to him.

Sam took a step forward and stopped, “Not another step, I might not have the best shot but Uzi’s are pretty quick. I wonder how fast can you ice up and protect her?”[/color] Sam’s hands and feet already had a thin layer over them and under his shirt and pants a thin layer had been quickly forming as well. Sam focused on the gun and willed his mutation to work while keeping his hands in the air. ”Whoa, my hands are up. You got the gun, man.” the purple guy smiled, “Quick on the uptake I see. Your reputation proceeds you.”

Sam frowned slightly, ”I take it you know enough about me, don’t think I ran into you before.” Sam said shifting his weight as the purple man took a step closer to the woman the gun still pointed however unbeknownst to him the inside was quickly filling with ice. “I shared a cell with an old friend of yours, you recall private dancer correct?” Sam lowered his head and sighed, worst bank robber ever. ”You got to be kidding me.” whispered Sam.

“Judging by your reaction you remember him well, you see we both did a little studying up on you and a few of your friends seeing as you always come here to ruin our fun. Though I have to say it will end today this game of cat and mouse.” Sam paused and tilited his head, ”I take it you think you’re the cat now?” the purple man nodded his head, “I believe I have the upper hand.” Sam sighed and took a step forward now that the barrel was as filled with ice as it was going to. He also shifted his attention to the trigger as well.

“Not so fast Sammy boy, you forget I have the gun?” he tried to pull the trigger and nothing happened. Sam took a step closer and shrugged lowering his hands, ”I think this is the part where you run or call your other buddies.” the purple man laughed and shook his head, “There is your first mistake. Thinking I’m alone.” After dropping the Uzi he undid his bottom button of his suit jacket and smiled. “Sammy boy, meet my brothers.” Almost instantly a hand sprouted from the man’s neck followed by an arm then a body. A few seconds passed and Sam was looking at three identical clones of the first purple man. ”Well, Shit.”
