The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He took a fork (when had he gotten that fork?) and speared some eggs. Through a contemplative session of chewing, he stated his condition. "You need to cook more often."
Walking past her, he snagged the coffee pot, to place it on the kitchen table.

So, now she was gonna bring up organic. Okay. They could play this game.
He chuckled to himself. "Only if you prove to me how organic is better for me than regular. And don't mention pesticides. Because those are within a tolerable range." He was an AMERICAN. They had rat hairs and insects in their chocolate and all sorts of terrible things in their packaged meat products. It was all legal...within an acceptable range. Put hair on your chest and made for strong boys and girls. That was why antibiotics were everywhere.
He crossed his arms over his chest and waited. Patiently. Tapping his foot with a smile.

Only if she could prove they were better, huh?
"Well. Organic animals aren't raised on feed that's made from other animals. They're also usually free range, so they can move around and build good muscle tone. That makes their meat leaner and better tasting. You really can tell the difference. That's one."
She ate some eggs so Ashton had time to contemplate what she said.
"Second. Most organic products aren't given antibiotics in their feed as they grow up. With all the medicines and chemicals that we're exposed to through ground water contamination, I figure every little bit I can remove from my diet, the better."
Another moment to think, some more eggs down the hatch.
"Finally, most organic food is locally grown and raised. That means that instead of supporting economies of other places, you're giving support to area farmers."

Ashton smiled, and poured her some coffee. It wasn't the gracious smile of a loser or victory coffee, because he hadn't lost. He had the final say, and the final say said:
"When it boils down to it, I just don't make enough money to squander it on fancy chicken meat. That's asking a lot. But if you think I need to eat healthier, I can cede to that demand."
He finished pouring her coffee, poured himself some, and sat down. The chair legs ground against the flooring as he scooted himself in.

When had they gone from sparring over better types of meat to her mothering his eating habits. Quin laughed good-naturedly as Ashton poured her coffee, then picked up the mug and had a drink.
"You can eat or spend whatever you want on your food. You're in fine physical condition, so I really have no room to talk. " she said, neglecting to mention the fact that she made less than the Detective pay grade and still managed to buy organic. Maybe someday she'd take him to the farmer's market, just to prove a point.
"I'll just have to use my own supplies to show you the difference sometime."
