The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"As far as I can tell, you don't have to make a commitment just yet. Go on the date with Devon, see how it goes. It be be that you don't have good chemistry, or you just don't gel. or you might hit it off from the word go and have as great time. Just wait and see." Chances are they would have fun, and the good looking lad with blue skin would quickly forget Derek ever existed. "It's just a date for now lad. Go in just wanting to have a nice time, no expectations and you'll see how it goes." Worked out well for him and Xavia after all. Very well.
Food sounded great, "Aye sounds like a good idea, and don't worry too much, you'll be fine. But what kind of food are you feeling?" He was in the mood for anything to be honest, maybe a chicken burger would do the trick.

So, when he made an off hand joke about her treating him to a date, he wasn't expecting a picnic in the park, on a beautiful day with home cooked food. So far, he was intrigued by the idea and had been looking forward to this since it was first suggested. After their first date, the second was pretty welcome, especially given how rough things had been for Xavia recently. Baby shocks and now some creepy stalker following her home, leaving horrible messages and making her life hell. However this piece of human scum was, he was apparently smarter than he let on, so far Derek's friends hadn't caught him and Devon didn't have much luck either, it was damn frustrating. All they could do was wait and hope he stopped, or left himself open to be caught. Artair definitely hoped for the latter, no one messed with his friends or family and Xavia was firmly in both categories.
Shaking away his more murderous thoughts and focusing on the current problem he had to deal with. New York Traffic. The town car he'd gotten from Haven was stuck and it looked like he'd be at least ten minutes late, which sucked. Sure he could get out and run but he'd rather not show up to a date sweaty and as red faced as his hair was, so he just sat in the back fuming a little, reassuring the worried driver that no, traffic wasn't his fault and he wasn't upset with him.
Maybe he should do something about his resting rage face. Too many people got the impression he was angry with them.
Answering his phone as soon as it rang, he was greeted by the familiar accent he'd come to enjoy so much. "Hey Xavia, sorry but thanks to traffic I'll be a wee bit late. You know how the city is." It wasn't the worst you could see, but it wasn't far off. "Since we'll be waiting anyway how was your day? Anything exciting happen?"
Rather than mention any of the stalking stuff, he wanted her to be happy, focused on their date and having a good time. Plenty of time for him to rip someone to pieces, when he was caught that was.

Pulling out another pair of knives to replace the shattered ones, she kept moving, not letting the acid lad get a straight shot at her and knocking the other two she was dealing with off balance. While the thug with a knife in his bone might not be out cold, he wasn't exactly focused on the fight. An ethereal knife sticking out your femur kind of does that. Too bad she couldn't get a look at her new best friend right now, if he was struggling as much as her they might be in trouble. That or she'd have to get nasty and that wasn't fun, for anyone involved.
Leaving a few more scars and slowly working her way closer to the acid spitter. If she could just deal with him this fight would turn around quick. The only issue, he spat freaking acid! How do you fight a person like that? Hope you get close enough without losing half a face to put him down? Cait really wished Becca had thought to train her for the eventual need to go up agaisnt people like this.
The shouting nearly distracted her, nearly. What it did do was make the two in front of her lose their concentration on her for just a second, just long enough for one quick movement. Sweeping two of her flying knives down, she drove them straight into the two guys feet, pinning them to the concrete. If the blood wasn't there, their reactions would have been pretty comical, both of them suddenly looking down to the glowing blades, and handily ignoring the brilliant Scot as she slammed the hilts of her real daggers into their now exposed temples. Ha! Take that jerks! Two thugs down and after giving each quick kick to seal the deal, they weren't bothering her for a while. Now, now it felt like proper fight, one she could win.
Thank you Cheshire man! Spitty wasn't even paying her attention during that, she gotten away 'Scot' free as it were. "My, my boys, at least put up a fight for little old me. Wouldn't do to let a girl beat you so easily." Hey, if the speedster had helped her, made sense to do the same, keep them off balance. Good thing he'd gotten big, metal and ugly though, her power wouldn't be great agaisnt someone like that.
Getting rounded on again by Spitty who unleashed a torrent of shots at her, she was forced back, dodging each shot. This one was dangerous, he wasn't just aiming for her, he was going for the knives flying around, trying to disarm her. With only two left she could safely use, it was a sound strategy, if only with one flaw. She could make more than just daggers.
Drawing some of the energy from the daggers stuck in various body parts, weakening them but not sending them away yet, she slammed all of it back into the two around her. This was going to hurt, a lot, but that acid was just way to dangerous to deal with. "Well then Mr Toxic Mouth, you ready to deal with a woman one on one?" Oh that worked alright, he was pissed and only had eyes for her. She'd have been lying if she wasn't enjoying this now that the odds had evened out, hell if her fast footed friend was doing this well they'd be done with time to spare.

Laughing a little at her joke, he was glad she was smiling again. She deserved a little happiness in her life and he was more than happy to help, in any way he could. waving away the thanks and stealing a carrot stick to munch, he listened to her food order with a slight grin. Good, the lass was hungry now and actively wanted something. And dessert, that was a surprise, not that he could see a reason why not, as long as she was eating enough calories and nutrients, a little fat wouldn't hurt. As long as it was all in moderation, there wasn't any issues.
"Aye that's all doable, shouldn't take too long to get it delivered. Then we can have a little feast with it all" Yeah he knew she could easily pay the bill, she was way better off than he was and logically he should take the offer but she was a guest. An upset guest who'd had a big shock and needed comfort, every bit of British breeding in him screamed manners at him. "Tell you what, keep your money today, but you pay for the next date." Seemed a decent way to do it, "Oh and I expect to be swept off my feet lass, I think I set a pretty decent bar with our first outing," dropping a little joke at the end, he made it obvious he was poking fun.
Ordering through his phone, and throwing in his own sweet mango curry with chicken it looked like it would only take about half an hour for it to be sent out, then maybe another ten minutes to get to them. Not bad going, he'd have to remember to order from there in the future during exam season. "And there we go, won't be long now." Not to hard there lad, calmed down a maybe girlfriend, got her food and everything. Maybe he wasn't too bad at all this.

No she could not, that had been amazing. A good solid time and something to work towards after her previous failure. It felt great to get a measure of success. "Damn straight I did, not letting this beat me yet. Can't wait for legs though, now there I shine." She wasn't exactly weak with her arms, but there was a clear difference in her strengths.
Now the leg press she knew, although she'd never used it like they were about to. She was looking forward to see how far she could push it and how much she could really lift.
"Oh yeah, it's one of my favourites. Can't lie with the results either, when you're best features your legs, you have to work them hard." Cait didn't mention how much she'd noticed the parts Rianne mentioned, no matter how awesome they were. Didn't help that it was really hard to not check someone out when you working out together in pretty revealing clothing.
Wait, that couldn't be right could it? 540 pounds!? Was that even possible and more importantly, when could she lift that much? Apparently it was possible, and her friend was killing it, plowing through the exercise like a woman possessed. It was incredible to see and she was just a little awestruck as it went on, barely able to muster the cheering she'd done before. It was just, inhuman to see. She even pushed past the 90 second mark. That meant there'd only be even more weight next time!
"That, that was incredible Rianne! I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it first hand." Cait knew she liked her new friend for a reason, she was a walking role model of awesome.
Food sounded great right about now, but they weren't done yet, she had one last lift to do and then the cardio left. Well, sooner started sooner done. Sitting in the seat, making sure everything was good, she released the weights and began. OK, it was way heavier than she normally did but this was her machine, her work out, no way she was doing bad here. Pushing with everything as the clock ticked, her skin turning a similar colour to her hair, she kept going, and going and going. 60 seconds came and went and she was nearing 90 before her legs just locked up completely. They had nothing to give, at all. Releasing an explosive breath and forcing them into one last push, she locked off the weight and tried to stand.
That didn't work. "Erm, mind giving me a hand up, legs feel like I haven't stood on them for days." It was so weird a feeling, like her bones were made of jelly.
Once she at least standing, "Sprints might not be my favourite exercise, but the thought of breakfast after is more than enough for me. Shall we?"
Giving him a grin and waving off the thanks, "No problem Derek, anytime really. All I did was got you talking, you did the leg work." The lad had just needed a push in the right direction. Once that was done, he'd done fine. A couple more weeks and he'd be chatting up anyone in a club with ease.
"You, have got to be f------ kidding me? That boy's timing is b----- miraculous sometimes." Damnit Devon, he'd just gotten his friend someones number and now you were swooping in, being all good looking and nice. "Well come on, don't keep me waiting. You get a date out of him or not?"
OK, so maybe he wasn't too upset. Those two would make a cute couple and frankly, they'd be pretty suited for each other.

Veggies he could do. He might not be the best cook, but he had steady hands and knives sharper than any normal one. He could chop with the best. "Some fresh chopped veg coming up then, won't be long. You want a glass of water or fruit juice as well to go with it?" Pulling out some bell peppers, onion, avocado and some carrots, he pulled out a knife and set to getting them cut into reasonable sized pieces for snacking, all the while pondering what he was going to order. Maybe she could stomach simple vegetarian noodle dish. Something light.
Plating everything up when it was done and getting the hummus and mild salsa he'd gotten as well. All looked pretty good to be honest, nothing that would be bad for a pregnant woman or the kids she was carrying. Kids, that felt weird. twins were pretty rare all things considered but among mutant there just wasn't the data for how common they were. "This should tide you over for now, get some good nutrients and energy in your body. You will need a proper meal soon though." He wasn't going to lecture her, but she was eating for.....three now. Even when sad she'd need to get a decent amount of calories down to make sure she, and them, were OK. Doctor mode would never go away now, would it. Artair sighed a little at that idea. He was never going to see things like normal again.
"What do you feel up to, as far as a proper meal goes? Anything you think you could keep down?" There were days he wondered if emergency surgery was for him. And then he spent some time in the neonatal ward and he was damn sure that was easier than that. It was a wonder anyone from that floor got any sleep, or got time off. It was non stop.
Mr Bear was obviously interested and god so was she. But no, they had a job, as annoying and painful as it was to let Raine lead her away she did. "He's seemed nice. You meet him on your course?" She was totally not try to find out if her friend had a thing for the big guy. Because if she didn't Cait wouldn't find her way back to the main room when this was all over. At all.
Taking a few drinks as she was urged upwards by the girl on her arm and taking everything thing in around her, there didn't seem anything wrong, yet. Just the usually drunk kids and giggling girls. Frat boys bragging about sports or something and a few slightly nerdier people dotted here and there who were obviously friends that had been dragged along. Awww, she felt for them, they looked like frightened rabbits surrounded by so many people, she'd been there before. All it took was a little confidence, even if it's fake.
The party girl in her, however, was definitely enjoying the atmosphere. A couple more beers in her and she'd be up on a table dancing in full view.
Expectations? That sounded, fun. Very fun. "Do tell. Has Raine been flirting a little with one of the nice frat boys?" She could see the girl getting her nails into anyone here pretty easy, she oozed the confidence of someone who got what they wanted.
Looking over to the person being pointed out, he looked like most of the guys here. A bit bulkier than the average college student, a bit better looking and frankly he looked a little harmless compared to some of the tipsy people on the floor below. Those could be deceiving though, David had seemed like a really nice person when they first started dating.
Raising an eyebrow at Raine and think what kind of mischief she had planned, she was totally in. "Am I ever one to not want to make people happy? What do you have in mind for the poor sod?" Knowing her it would be great.

She did help, in her own way. Cait hadn't forgotten that she was one of the main reasons there were still able to stay a float, even if the money she brought in was from a less than legal place. Hell they were a less than legal group, she could hardly judge how they stayed in business, as long as it wasn't stolen.
"That's why you don't need to do it alone. As hard and scary as it is we'll be standing with you, making as many good and fun memories as we can." If they wanted fun, Cait was the girl to call, oh she had such plans for their new member. Shopping, music and more she had tucked away to show off. Oooo she might even be able to teach Aura a few songs and dances. As harsh as it sounded, Aura was a blank canvas, someone who didn't have any preconceptions about, well most things. She was kind of the perfect sounding board for some things. "Talking of memories have you ever had a chance to try any alcoholic drinks? Those are so much fun, in moderation of course." What, she was still Scottish.
Yeah, she could see how afraid her new friend could be going out alone, not that she had to worry about that right now. Cait was more than up for exploring the city with her. Blushing a little at how bold she was, the Scot answered quickly, "I kind of like both to be honest. Only found out I liked girls after a friend kind of kissed me. It was......good and now I kind of can't not be into guys and girls." That had been a fun night.
"I let you in on a secret, I'm pretty bad a dating too. Never been able to crack it." She just liked having fun too much to be attached to one person. Right now she just enjoyed herself, met some very interesting people and lived. No need for a partner.
Laughing and slipping onto the sofa as they entered the room, "Pretty much. I've been accused by some of being pure rainbows in human form. I just love making people smile and be happy. And when they're happy, they tend to be more huggable to it's not like I get nothing out of it." Hugs, were, the best. "Oh you'll love Raine then, she's so much fun."
Gesturing to the snacks and considering what tea to offer, there were just so many to choose from. Maybe something calming? Probably chamomile then. "Dig in, it's all for anyone to try, so that means you too now. I'll just get the kettle boiling for the tea."
Cold shower? He'd been born in a land of wind and rain, snow and ice. The cold was his. "You could try but chances are it'd be down right tropical compared to back home. When you grow up on an island with nothing between you and the Arctic but ocean, cold is a way of life." He got the context though. Some might call it flirting, he just called it banter. Christ Derek got worse and came back swinging.
Nodding along to the words, he took everything in and memorised it, made sure to tuck away all the tips and tricks he was being offered. Artair wasn't the kind of guy to let pride get in the way of learning how to to anything. He'd lost because the other guy was better and had read him like a book. Anything Devon offered where things he could use in the future to stop himself getting killed. "I'll remember that for next time then and don't worry, when you get a Glaswegian kiss from me it will definitely be a surprise." Maybe not the best phrase but by god the reaction would be great. God he loved some of the weird phrases his homeland created.
"That's all good to know, I definitely want to improve. Maybe I can finally get through a fight without either getting myself hurt, or crippling some eejit who thought fighting me's a good idea. But I see your points, I need to work on not telegraphing my moves and being more thoughtful in my approach. Fair to say with some skill behind me I can hit hard, nowt like weapon practice to build the muscles." He was looking forward to the weapon sparring. There was no doubt his friend was more skilled with weapons, but with his versatility and good years of training he wasn't bad himself. Also very few people in his experience knew how to fight someone using a weapon and shield. It was a very nasty combination to go agaisnt if you were only using a one handed weapon of similar reach.
"What now then? I'm up for either weapons or power so this one's your choice. Haven been working on a few things I've wanted to show off so I'm happy with whatever you choose." With a few session practicing he'd managed to work on some interesting uses of his power. Mostly it was just efficiency stuff, but the bow idea and wrapping constructs he was particularly eager to try out.

Smiling at her carefully avoiding the subject as well he knew they'd have to have a talk about it soon. Not today though, she'd had enough to deal with and she needed some real creature comforts. "Well, I was thinking we get a delivery from the Red Dragon. As I recall they do pretty good food ad this time we'll probably be able to finish a meal from there without injuries." He kept his voice light and joking and thanks to her instance he'd stopped blaming himself as much for what had happened. Sure he still felt a little guilty but it had gotten the two of them talking. That was a bonus.
"Also got some stuff in if you want something while we wait, have a decent collection of fruit and veg." She'd pretty much picked the best day to come over, he'd just done the shopping the previous day so it was groaning with fresh food. And meat, but she wasn't really into that was she.
"There anything you want to eat in particular, or anything you think you can stomach?" He'd be a pretty bad med student if wasn't aware of the common issues with pregnancy. Morning sickness and for some reason, an increased sense of smell were a pretty potent mix when it came to trying to keep food down, not to mention the issues with salt etc. One again, Artair was glad it wasn't him who had to carry the kids in the species. He had more than enough pain to deal with already.
He wasn't a smooth talker but that probably worked in Derek's favour. He had that cut, innocent vibe going, the kind some guys just ate up when they were looking for something a little more than a one night stand. If he could work on not being just a bit too cringey the lad would be set. Checking his own phone at the sound, it hadn't been his. Good. "Pleasure to meet you then Jason, you been coming here long?" Get a little info, talk up his friend. It was simple.
Taking a sip of his drink as Jason explained he was a bit of a regular and liked the atmosphere, how relaxed it was. "Good to know, first time being here myself. Derek works here and thought I should check it out," glancing to his side, Artair was doing what he could to plant certain associations to him. This wasn't the Scots first rodeo.
When his own phone went off, he politely excused himself and left the two of them alone to 'talk'. It wasn't important but he acted the part of texting away, covertly getting a picture of the two of them getting on for the future. Teasing material was very important after all.

While she washed herself up and went out for some air, he tried to wake up a bit, get his brain running and all that. Didn't really work, his mind was stuck in Gaelic mode for the moment, translating any English he saw immediately into his home tongue and forming sentences in the musical language. God he must have been more fried than he realised, maybe some coffee would do the trick.
Brewing up a cup while Xavia was still on the balcony, he grabbed an apple while he was at it and sat munching it idly in thought. She was pretty fetching standing there silhouetted agaisnt the light, her bright hair tickled by an errant breeze. It was hard to argue with how he felt. He liked her, a fair bit. He didn't know why, he didn't know why but he did. He'd be pretty damn blind to not see she liked him, so why was he so hesitant about this? Sure he was absolutely terrible at this kind of stuff but shouldn't he still give this a chance?
When she suddenly came back in and started writing, he moved back to the sofa and took a peek over her shoulder. Unknowingly he started to read it out when she'd finished, just not in English. He'd defaulted to Gaelic, switching the words into his language and speaking them in that fluid, soft sounding speech.
Finally switching back to something understandable, "Didn't know you wrote songs lass, it's pretty good. You'll have to show me it when it's done." Leaving certain things unsaid, he didn't need to say he understood what it had meant. "You feeling up to some food now?"

If she had a nap during the day, she should be able to make it work. As long as it wasn't after a full day of playing she should be fine. "That would be awesome, it's always way more fun going to the gym with friends! Can't wait to start seeing some of the results and my band mates will be so jealous." Only a little, they were pretty cool though.
Thank god the shoulder lifts were over. They had been some of the worst exercises she'd done and she was including scales in that. Scales were the most boring thing ever. These were worse. She would beat them into the ground though. Nothing got the better of her for long. "Oh I plan to. I haven't gotten to this point giving up early and I'm not about to start now. Not with a great work out buddy cheering me on as well."
She was so looking forward getting to legs. That she was strong at and she knew it. Legs were always Cait's biggest strength and showing them off was always so much fun. That and they looked good.
This one was always one of the machines she liked the look of. It was simple, elegant and oh so effective. Very helpful for a little bit of gym creeping as well. The amount of guys and girls chests she'd gotten a peek of while they worked it was quite high.
Keeping all the info she was given and making sure it was locked into her brain, she had to marvel at the weight Rianne could pull. It was what 40 pounds more than she weighed? That was insane and it was all arms! It was kind of awesome to see it in action, able to watch someone that strong in action. "Jesus Christ, that is unreal Rianne! How long have you been exercising like this?"
Taking her own place and launching straight into the movements once she was seated, she did pretty damn well for a first time on it. By the time her arms just couldn't pull the bar down any further she must have done a minute and fifteen seconds. After her attempt at the shoulder press this was a damn good confidence booster.
"Oh yeah, now that's the stuff. Can't complain about that result now can I?" This was the best gym session ever.
"That's the spirit lad, soon you'll be a smooth talking master, able to get any pretty guys attention. Maybe even a certain storm boy would be interested as well?" His crush on Devon was kind of cute. Sure he could see where it came from, the guy was as close to gorgeous as a man could be, but for some reason Devon just didn't do it for Artair. He could only see him as a good friend.
Whispering, "At any point you want to bolt, just say. no need to do any more than you're comfortable with." Pushing your boundaries was one thing, but driving a friend into a genuinely upsetting situation just wasn't his style. If Derek wanted to stop, he was more than happy with calling it there. It'd also help knowing exactly where the line stood and how much he could get away with doing.
Giving the blue skinned man a winning smile and putting a hand gently on his friends shoulder, "Hi, so sorry to bother you, but my friend would be kicking himself all night if he didn't ask for your name." So maybe he laid his accent on a little more, rolling his words and making them sound just a little more musical than usual. And of course, this man and his friend were taken in straight away. So far, it had never failed him.
"I'm sure I could give in to such a simple request, I'm called Jason. What about you two fine gentlemen, what would I call you?" Oh Derek was in. Flirting had already started and they were just getting names and the appraising looks he was giving his friend were pretty telling.
"Well, I'm Artair," he supplied pleasantly while pushing Derek forward a little, "and this is Derek."
