The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"That's all I can ask for then Devon and I'll be more than happy to check out your club at some point. I'm not one to say no to some fun every now and then." If the place had a decent collection of booze and privacy when he needed it, he was more than happy to spend some time there, maybe even meet some nice people. He wouldn't say no to that.
He certainly would appreciate bluntness, not that it was ever in question with a Scotsman. His people spoke their minds and spent their time annoying bigger and stronger countries their entire history. It was a proud tradition, in a way. "Good to hear, I'm not one for following blindly and knowing that's not the organisation you have, I'm happy to add my contribution. With the summer break coming up I can probably give more help in the short term, but can't promise anything when the school year starts again."
Grinning at the joke, he was glad Devon could roll with the unexpected. Artair had never gotten the hang of holding his tongue which had unfortunately caused issues when he'd moved across. More than one person had gotten very offended at him for speaking his mind in a situation, rather than mindlessly agreeing to whatever was being said. That wasn't him. "I'll keep that in mind, and don't be afraid to pull punches with me, or say if I've crossed a line. It wouldn't be the first time I've gone to far, as long as I know where the line is," he trailed off, shrugging.
Over the course of the conversation, he had the weird feeling some of the evil glances were now directed at him. Casually looking around, there were more than a few intently watching them. "Devon, is it just me, or have some of your admirers started to give me really dirty looks? I'd find it a wee bit off putting if it wasn't so daft given the situation." Were they jealous that he was talking to someone who could pass for a supermodel?

Whoever this b---- was, he was going to make her pay. He was at the end of his very short temper after today's events, now he just wanted to hurt something, preferably something actually involved in his suffering. If the officer hadn't shouted at him and pulled him out from outright blood lust, he'd have missed the plan. As long as she was sure she could catch him, he'd have to trust her. Didn't really have many options anyway, it was go time. The blue fist flying past him was just the distraction he needed.
Pulling out a caestus and pouring a large amount of energy into it, he slammed it straight across her jaw. Not his best hit but considering the fact he didn't have any solid footing, he was rather happy with the results. The green toothed woman spun drunkenly away from him and he would have been so close to celebrating, if his stomach didn't suddenly lurch as gravity reasserted itself and he started to fall. This was going to hurt.
OK, the feeling was weird. He was still falling, faster than he really liked, but it wasn't at a broken bones speed, more like a few nasty bruises kind of velocity. Either way it wasn't a long fall, between one blink and the next the ground was slamming into his back and knocking the wind out of his lungs.
That, that had hurt. A lot. It was like someone had beaten him a big stick all over his body. Felt so damn good though, since pain at least meant he wasn't dead, yet anyway. Groaning while he pulled himself up and checked himself over for any breaks, the officer had actually done it. Christ that had been amazing. "Nice catch lass, nowt broken and only a load of bruises to show for it." Glancing up, he wasn't sure if the woman had been knocked out, her body still spinning idly in the air.
---
How dare he! How dare the filthy Scot hurt his dear beautiful Jenny. He would pay, he would burn when the rat got out of these cuffs and away from the carnage. Oh he had such plans for the redhead, he would hunt the man, squirrel out his secrets and play such fun tricks with them.
'Can you hear me lovely, did the bad man rattled your beautiful mind?' he cast out towards her, still confident the bond between them was strong. Sending along his plan, hoping she would get away, he started to work his magic, working the cuffs loose while slowly moving away from the scene, glad for his smaller size for once. It was easy to be noticed when you weren't at eye level.

At least Doc could see to it, so unless it happened without any ready access to medical care it wouldn't be a huge problem, but it was still worrying. A wound bleeding for an hour was never good. "That's fair, just wanted to put the offer on the table." That, was a wee bit surprising. She was bonnie, that was hard to get away from, but what kind of experiences was she having that him not hitting on her was unusual.
Smiling at her unspoken offer, he'd have taken her up on it if this meeting hadn't played out quite the way it had. Let her pay for him after causing her injury just wouldn't sit right with him. Waving her off with a warm grin, he paid for himself and left a decent tip, mainly to ease his conscience over the problems he'd caused them.
"Well then, where would you like to go, so I can get a look at that hand? I've got everything I'd need at mine, but if you're not comfortable with that I'm sure Doc wouldn't mind us using a corner of his office. Might even be able to bounce ideas off him." He tried to make it obvious in his tone that he wasn't hitting on her, but he wasn't sure if it came across. Xavia had clearly had some really bad experiences and he already felt guilty for adding them. He didn't want to appear to be just another guy after something from her.

She was already excited about today, music and friendship was awesome. But now it was serious, there were hugs! This day had just gone from a ten to an eleven, and they hadn't even started. "Great to hear, and of course you can, I'm a hugger myself so you don't really need to ask in the future. If you want a hug just go for it." Putting her instruments down for better hugability and holding out her arms towards the other woman, "So cool to meet someone else who loves them as well. Had to wear down to many of my friends to get ones out of them."
With the important business out of the way, and her snuggle reserves topped up to full again, it was music making time. "Is there anything you'd specifically like to try or do want to do more free flowing stuff? I'm up for anything, honestly but I do have some sheet music if you want to take a look." Cait had spent a lot of time hunting out all sorts of music, some from online, others from old books. A few she had even tried to write out herself, but those attempts hadn't quite been successful.
While most of her experience had been with fairly structured playing, but she was quite interested to try 'jamming'. Her dad had told her often about folk bands back home coming together in a pub to just play together, inventing music with the aid of a little whiskey and a lot of good company. He'd often lamented not being able to expose her to that part of her culture growing up. Well, now she was doing it all herself.

That work out sounded brutal, and awesome. "I don't usually get as much weight training as I'd like, it's going to be so awesome having someone experienced showing me how it's done." Cait wasn't exactly weak, but most of her exercise was cardio training, with some weights thrown in for good measure. And sparring. So much sparring.
"As much of an amazing show it'd give these guys, I think I keep my jeans on and tequila undrank." God the hangover had sucked as well, it had taken so much greasy food to get her functional again. It was not something she would repeat. Putting on a cheeky grin she added, "Besides, I can't be getting a bad reputation with you....yet."
Rianne had a very good choices of songs and she was so tempted to take the Frozen song simply becauseof how much she loved the film. She'd have loved to sing it but considering the choices, she just had to go for Grease. The musical nerd in her just wouldn't let her not give it a try. "I have to go for Grease, it's just so perfect. It's one of my favourite musicals as well." She had spent many nights sitting up with friends doing marathons of old musicals, when she couldn't drag them in for horror films.
"Which part would you prefer? I can do either from heart." Of the two of them, she had to admit Rianne looked way more feminine than her right now. High heels and a dress just cannot be beaten when it comes to women's clothes. "Although I will say, with the hair and the dress, you make a killer Sandy."

Help her? It was possible but he was hardly a doctor yet and his training was no where near complete. Choosing not to get any more spring rolls and just getting the few leftovers he had boxed up, he listened intently to her explanation.
The wound did look nasty, ragged almost, which matched her description of how it happened. "Don't know how much help I'd be but I'll do what I can. If need be I could give you a couple of names of people I trust, good people." Artair knew his emergency medicine lecturer would bend over backwards to help anyone, mutant or not. Better yet, he was a good person. Giving her a warm smile, "I tend to try not do bad things, what with the 'DO no harm' oath and all that."
"That aside, how long ago did this happen and how long was it bleeding for?" Best to get an understanding of what he was dealing with. "Also, if you work up at the mansion could Doc not take a look at it? Don't mean to make assumptions or anything, he just strikes me as a good person to bring this to." He didn't know her history with the mansion, or if she had tried Doc already, but saying it and it not being needed was better than keeping quiet with something important.

That he sat up for. He was all for scientific experimentation but something about her tone told him that's not what she'd been exposed to. Explained her jumpiness as well, he'd hardly blame her for not wanting to talk to anyone, ever. Wanting to protect innocence he could also get behind, there was too little of it left in the world.
Putting his chopsticks he considering his answer carefully. "Thats the plan, at least in the end. I'm only sitting here thanks to some amazing doctors and the mind numbing amount of work they went through with me. After all of that," he shrugged, not really sure how to put it into words, "it just seemed right to do the same." It was new sharing this much with a stranger, but Xavia seemed like a good person, who understood what it was like.
"It also explains why I find peoples mutations so fascinating. Hard to treat a person when your drugs either don't work or have a negative reaction. Being able to create treatments targeted at helping people is a basic of medicine. Only seems logical to take that a step further." It was one of his passions after all and if he werrn't so determined to be a doctor, he might consider research.
"Not to mention the possible medical advances we could make by embracing peoples mutations and working with them, not around them.

OK, maybe she had been a little over eager setting off so early, but she wasn't about to let New York buses make her late for this. Getting to play instruments with Ambrosia was too exciting a prospect for public transport to mess it up. Playing music was one of the true pleasures of life to her, being able to share that with others was even better.
Making sure to get enough sunscreen on, as well as carrying a spare bottle just in case, she had dithered over whether to take her violin or guitar, instead settling on both. They might have been bulky and taken up a spare seat on the bus, but she could ignore the evil looks today. It was just way to nice to let them put a dampener on her day. Today there was music to play, sunshine to enjoy and good company to enjoy. Nothing could ruin her mood now. Especially not the grumps of the world.
Arriving and deciding to grab some food before they played, she found herself wandering through the park having a lovely sandwich. Passing a tree, she was so glad she'd been paying attention, spotting Ambrosia under the branches of a large tree. "Ambrosia!" she shouted, waving and walking up to her, "How are you!"

"Going to the gym with you would be epic. It's always more fun working out when there's someone else there with you." While she might get a decent amount of training at the base, nothing beat a well stocked gym, a good workout playlist and a less, fighty, feel to the exercise. "I would be so up for that and don't worry, hard work I can do."
Tequila was not a good drink for her. Scotch, vodka even bourbon she could drink for hours but tequila seemed to slam her straight into drunk far too quickly. "Unless you want me giggling like a lunatic for thirty minutes, keep anything with tequila in away. Last time I had it, I woke up in my friends bed half naked." Thank got Pat was so understanding. "I'd have been more worried but I wasn't exactly his type," she added, hoping she wasn't giving him too much of a bad reputation at the moment.
Downing her beer and following Rianne up to the stage, having to weave in between a few fairly drunk patrons. Some would make comments as she passed, but she wasn't letting boozed up people annoy her, she was having too much fun.
Now that they talked for a little, it shouldn't be too awkward to do a duet. They were a laugh to sing and she had to be honest, they were basically designed for karaoke. "I'm more than up for a love song. I've had that drink after all so professing my love via music seems right," she joked, happy to get more time sing with her new friend. "As long as we have fun, I'm happy with anything you chose."

"I'd be lying if I wasn't tempted by the offer. Maybe the next time I'm up at the mansion I could swing by. if you're not busy of course." Learning more about people's mutations had always been so fascinating to him. Now that he wanted to be a doctor, it only made sense to know as much as possible, so he was better equipped to treating a mutant's injuries.
Weird as it might be, he was glad he had an excuse to talk to Xavia. She was an interesting conversational partner, certainly more grown up than most of the people he met. "Aye, that's true I suppose. Prejudice always find a way in, gets its hooks in. Differences are so easy to see, sometimes they forgot our similarities."
Artair should be surprised by the us and them mentality, but it was hardly new to him. "Well, for every bigot nowadays there seem to be three people ready to shout them down. Cannae be all bad for us anymore if that's the case."

Something about Alice reminded her of a house cat, playing with a mouse it had caught. She knew Cait was under her spell, now she seemed to be having her fun. "Well, it certainly saves time. Who am I to argue with the results?"
It was like the woman was waiting for her to take a sip before coming out with something outrageous, something daring. Raising an eyebrow she dropped in a more teasing tone, "Role-play so soon? We've skipped a few steps along the way there love, can't be having that." Not that she was agaisnt a little dress up. Striking a pose for Alice, the alcohol was definitely making her more daring. "Imagine away then lass."
There was something about the woman that was just so mesmerising. Every small movement of her hand sent electricity dancing up her spine, tensing her muscles each time. "Oh cute I'll take and who could argue with legs like these," she added gesturing down. Cait was not ashamed to say her legs were damn great.
Yep, more coughing and spluttering as she tried to sip her fruity cocktail. Screw it, she was downing it. Might as well get something down her so Alice would stop playing that game with her. The compliments did help, though she wasn't so sure she could fill out a dress so well. "So kind of you to say, but some of the girls I'm friends with are built like amazons. Now they can give a dress just the right curves."
Alices' soft touch was so damn distracting, her arm tensing at the feel of her fingers. Blushing at the thoughts and feelings it just kept bringing up, she turned her own hand over, idly tracing a spiral on the other woman's palm. "You get many girls numbers this way, or are you techniques as varied as they are interesting?" It's not like she was leaving tonight without at least leaving that much.
"I've heard they're very confidence boosting to wear, not that I'd know. Not really the kind of thing I'm comfortable wearing." She'd never been able to explain her issues with really girly clothes like dresses and corsets. Tight jeans she felt fine in and getting under someones clothes she was all for, but somehow dresses made her feel more naked than, well being naked. "I know an amazonian super hero or two and trust me, you have them beat in a corset any day of the week," she teased.
It did feel odd having someone say they respected her. Logically she knew some people did, but hearing it said somehow made it more real. Punching him lightly on the arm at his joke, "I'm worried about what kind of reputation I'm getting here Mal. Don't you know I'm the childlike, naive member of the team," she finished, putting on a very innocent look.
Cait was, shocked. No one had ever said that to her. The fact it was coming from an empath made it strike home. Her emotions already threatening to well over, him enveloping her in a hug just broke the dam. She just started to cry. It was so stupid, she wasn't sad or upset, just too happy to really process it all. Rather than try, she just hugged him back.
Finally wresting her emotions back into some semblance of normalcy, she pulled back from him. "I.....I'm sorry. Got a bit overwhelmed there." Not that she needed to explain to him, even if he wasn't an empath, a crying girl was usually a good hint. "God that came out of nowhere," she laughed between sobs, "Can't believe I just cried like that, although it's probably good no one walked in."

Wait, her teaching job was up at the mansion? What was it with this city and coincidences? It was strange but hardly the weirdest thing about today.
He could understand the sacrifices she was making, trying to create a better life for her daughter than she had. More than most he could empathise with that. His own childhood hadn't exactly been picture perfect and he'd couldn't imagine not doing everything for his own children, if he had any. "I get that. I was lucky enough to have family around after my father's death. They helped me out a lot more than I realised at the time." Artair didn't really feel weird sharing this, or some reason.
That may have been a joke, but Xavia might not have known how much his inner nerd was screaming right now. Chuckling as he answered, "After today, I think I'll pass asking you to injure yourself further for my own interests. As fascinating as I would find it."
At least she had her appetite back, food would probably help right now. Taking a few more mouthfuls and reveling in the taste, he was so glad he'd gone meatless for this meal. It tasted way better than he'd have expected and lets be fair, it was probably way better for his heart. "I do find it funny that people are more surprised by me being really interested in their powers, than being afraid. Maybe its sad too."

Charity do's where always great fun to do. People loved being there, they always had a great vibe and as a bonus, they did so much good for the causes they supported. "You have my information and I'm sure we would we be able to do it. As long as we have enough notice it's more than doable." Some charities had tried to pay them for their time, but it didn't feel right to take it. They were just happy to help. That and organisers tended to ply them with free food anyway.
"Oh I will, trust me on that. I can't wait to hang out with you as well." New friends were so fun! She was also really looking forward having someone else to play music with, and hang out, maybe even learn some dancing.
Checking the time and knowing she'd already spent a little too much time here anyways and she was sure Ambrosia didn't have all day just to talk to her. "I should probably get these actually bought, before it looks like I'm a very indecisive shoplifter." She also really needed to check out those Gaelic books.
Browsing through the books, a smile broke through at one regarding Cait Sith. It was just too perfect. "I just have to, considering the name." Everything together was a little more than she'd hoped, but today had been more than worth the cost.
"It's been so great to meet you. Next time we definitely need instruments."

Artair could do with the company and he was honestly looking for a distraction from the morbid contents of the book. "Be my guest," he replied, returning to his seat, "far be it for me to say no after all and I could do with some company." It helped that his mind was still nerding out a little over her mutation but he did have some tact after all. Asking for in depth information about someones power after just meeting them was not his style. Manners were important.
Laughing at the question, he never really considered how odd it looked from the outside. "Yeah, I can generally tune it out. Spent most of my teenage years studying in a much more distracting environment so it honestly feels more comfortable to have noise in the background." The people in the neighbouring rooms to his often complained about his music being too loud during his study session.
"It's just what I'm used to I guess. But yeah, the subject is pretty hard to read. You'd think a medical student would be more used to this kind of stuff but," shrugging rather than finishing the sentence, he took a swig of his drink.
"How about yourself. What do you do, other that this, of course," he asked, genuinely interested in the answer.
