The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Max laughed as the green man remembered him from his aftershave. He couldn't quite get his head around how it must feel to taste with hand tongues. Max knew how good this guy was. He could have handled those hatchet men, so why hadn't he?
"I'm Max. What was your name" He asked.
He pulled out his phone and took a picture of the subway map for reference. He didn't want to wind up lost down here. He took a few steps over to the maintenence door and tried the knob. Locked. Figures.
He dug into his fanny pack and produced a small plastic carrying case that had his lockpicks. He'd picked up some useful skills in training during CLASS. During an infiltration Sim he had been taught how to pick locks by a Havenite. It was surprisingly easy.
He put his tension wrench into the key hole and chose a pick as he exerted slight pressure on the thing. The pick slid in and he racked on the pins until he felt the knob turn with a satisfying click. The door swung open into an unlit dark hallway.
Max stashed his lockpicks and pulled out a small pocket flashlight. A beam of light shot through the darkness and illuminated the hallway. It was honestly a little spooky.

Max stood light in his feet letting the pulsing beat of the music in his ears clear his thought. Flying Agnes rounded the corner and Max was ready, up until he felt a searing pain in his back. A dozen needles poking into his back.
He head turned and he saw a new wave of insects was basically on top of him. How? Had Flying Agnes sent a wave to flank him. The answer he got was far worse however as he saw the once wounded Agnes charging at him.
On instinct he vaulted up, spinning to place his makeshift shield between him and the Stinger Agnes. More bugs attacked him as they clung to his back and the wave started to wash over him. He used bis power to assist him and found himself flying up parallel to the alley wall. Stinger Agnes proved a point that Max had felt nagging in the back of his head; this wasn't a malfunction this was all part of the exercise.
The two Agnes' were out to get him. Anger pulsed through him alongside the beat of the music playing. One of the pair was the real Agnes, and she wasn't holding back against him. He didn't know what the point of this training session was. More stings pierced his back and he swore against the pain, feeling it rum through him. He took that pain and balled it up, sharpening it into a dagger in his mind.
"It's survival of the fittest man. That's just how it goes." The voice in his head said.
"Then shut up and help." He mentally shouted back.
He heard a triumphant laugh inside his mind and felt a wave of adrenaline and focus run through him. Time seemed to slow as information flooded his mind. It was like a part of his mind had been waiting for permission to throw itself into the fray. Facts that Max hadn't taken time to analyze popped into the for front of his mind.
Stinger Agnes has motley, she had mentioned that at the beginning of their session. That meant she had no wings. If Max could clear the rooftops of the alley he would have the aerial advantage. This also meant that winged Agnes was the primary threat. He needed to neutralize her. He was sandwiched in the alleyway which put him at a disadvantage. He needed to stall for a few seconds and give himself time to get out of this trap.
His shield still held up between him and Stinger Agnes Max's free hand flew into his fanny pack and wrapped around the remaining roll of quarters. He brought it out in a flash and smacked the end against the trashcan lid, breaking the seal of the paper tube. He pointed the cylinder at Flying Agnes and threw power into it. The quarters inside exploded out in a rush, propelled by augmented gravity aimed at his opponent. He just needed to slow her down enough to get above the buildings.

Agnes Primes fave told Max everything he needed to know. He heard the scream behind him and rolled forward, twisting and grabbing at Agnes Prime as he did. He threw his power over her and came up with a now weightless Agnes in his arms. He was facing the first Agnes and saw her baton swinging were only a second ago he had been. The wasps made it to Max as they spewed from Agnes' mouth and he bit back a curse as he felt them stinging him as the first few reached him.
He shifted gravity on himself and the girl in his arms and felt himself being slung backwards. This was exactly the kind of fight he wasn't prepared for. Agnes had seen his yo-yos and his coin attack, his literal bag of tricks was running short. His power required contact which put him in easy striking range of Agnes and made it impossible to catch all of her insects at once.
They flew back a few feet and Max took note of an alley to his left. He didn't know how fast Agnes could fly but he bet she was faster. He would have to hope he could corner quicker without the need of adjusting his body.
A quick change in gravity took him and Agnes into the alley. He flew down between the two building. He looked down the alley that was full of dumpsters and trash cans and swore. It was a dead end. He felt like a caged animal. He didn't know what to do. His wasp stings flared with pain and he knew more were on the way. The muscles in his body ached from him throwing himself around so much. He couldn't think he was losing. His mouth opened without him thinking and he didn't realize what he said until the words exited his mouth.
"CLASS: Initiate playlist-Dope Beats." He cried.
He had been told CLASS was customizable and had preloaded the program with his play lists before he had ever entered the room. He had expected to use it as workout music not like this.
The pounding bass and harmonic treble poured in the room from unseen speakers and washed over Max. The music revitalized him, calmed his fear. EDM pounded into CLASS, a familiar sound in an an otherwise alien situation.
Max braked hard at the end of the alley and flipped. His feet smacked against the brick wall and he dropped Agnes gently to the ground. He saw two waves of wasps flying at him. The music pumped in his ears and Max felt his head bobbing to the rythme. He vaulted off the wall, his arm grabbing a trashcan lid and bringing it up like a shield.
He spun into the first wave of wasps, the trashcan lid smacking into them either a satisfying clang Max hit them against the alley side wall. He did a quick turn and repeated the process on the second rush.
He spun back to center. He didn't see Agnes coming yet but knew she wouldn't just let him go. Despite the giant robots and crazy insect ladies Max felt a confident smile spread across his face. He brought his makeshift shield up to bear in front of him and as his eyes darted looking for motion his feet shuffled to the music, his head bobbed, his shoulders bounced.

She agreed and slid him her card. He pocketed it quickly and continued to enjoy his burger. He saw her give a paranoid look around as she questioned why he had set her on her mission. He shook his head in reply.
"I'll give you the info on the ID ring. No one is stopping me from talking to you, but I've been through this before and if I just told you you wouldn't believe me. Heck you'd think I'm crazy and then you'd end up looking it up for yourself anyway." He supplied.
He finished off his plate and felt a sense of satisfaction. She would be a good resource to helping him get himself back on the grid and do it discreetly. He had work to do now, he had to go have a chat with Tony.
"Give me a call tomorrow when you get everything set up for the bust and I'll be there. We can talk about my personal drama when that's done. I have to say Detective I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm glad I ran into you tonight " He said.

Geo spoke with passion, and intelligence. It was a combination that was rare to find in people usually. He made valid points and Max found himself nodding in agreement.
"I got you man. It's that same world though that used Althouse sacrifices and influences to drive their point home. I'm no martyr don't get me wrong but if one day when I'm gone people look back on what I did and say I made a difference how can I argue with that. Solid advice though I agree." Max said.
He spoke of the prejudice, of the pain and suffering that his kind went through. Max felt sorry for the man, he must have gone through hell before he came here. He had seen things Max couldn't imagine.
"We as society seem to get stuck so quick huh? We get a little better and move towards something good and then everyone gets caught up in their own crap and forget that other people have issues." He added to the sentiment.
Max laughed with Geo as he asked him about his dancing and abilities. He always liked surprising people with his hidden talent. Few people assumed he had moves when they first saw him.
"Yeah I can change gravity on myself or anything I touch. Make things weightless, change gravity so people fall up or sideways. It's gotten me out of some tight spots," He chuckled, " When it comes do dance I've played with just about every style there is. I've danced on cardboard and ballrooms all the same man. It's all about the music." He said tossing his cigarette into the ceramic pot already full of the things.

She jotted down noted as they ate and seemed interested. Good, that meant she was interested. It gave him the smallest bit of leverage to try to plead his case. Now he just had to figure out how to word his request. Best to do it a bit at a time. She asked his name and age and he grinned, she was going to work with him.
"I'm twenty actually. And you can call me Max." He said.
He continued to eat his hearty meal. Man why did food taste so much better when it was free? The cook must know when you aren't paying for a meal and added extra seasoning.
"I'll take you to Tony and get the details. Heck I'll bring you to the location myself tomorrow. But, I have a favor to ask in return. Nothing big," He added quickly, "When you get home from this tonight Google Maxwell Rosewood. See what you can find, look wherever you can your a detective. I've had a very intersting year and I need some help that will be obvious to you when you've finished."
He knew what she would find. Probably DMV records, papers from Virginia about honor roll, and a death certificate and obituary for him. If she looked she'd find the police report if him being hit by a car a year ago. He hoped it would be enough to peak her interest.
"If you don't find yourself interested after you do the research I'll call it even for letting me go. Deal?" He said extending his hand to shake.

She ordered and inquired with Max about where he had gotten his ID. Getting the thing had nearly emptied his meager savings. She had analyzed the ID with ease and Max nodded impressed.
"At the bus stop on third street you will meet a guy named Tony that hangs out there at night. If you walk up to him and look young enough you can ask him when the 16th Bus arrives. He will give you a phone number to call." Max explained.
He was interupted when the waitress returned with their food. 24 hour diners had surprisingly speedy service. Max took a bite out of a fry.
"Text the number saying :Tony and you will get an address and time. Be at that place at that time the next day and you will find a guy set up with a camera and backdrop to take your picture. Wait five minutes and then bam you get a nice shiny ID." He continued.
His burger tasted like heaven and he felt like it was worth it to have to spill the beans. Having this group out would do Haven a favor too. The document ring had some good forgers that could be used to help get mutants in trouble new identities if they found their current work unavailable.
"I'd give you the details I had but the place changes ever night for security. You could arrest Tony but I think you want a bigger fish. You could come with me and I'll meet him and get the info for you. Then you can do your SWAT thing and get some nice credit." He offered.
He had decided he wanted her help, and the best way to get help was to give it.

She countered Max's argument quickly, leaving little room for retort or loopholes. It was the mark of a good cop that she had all that ready to go, she was definitely not a slouch.
"Oh she's good." He thought to himself.
She took his ID while giving him a brilliant smile and a solid remark to add insult to injury. She offered him some food and his freedom in exchange for some info and he found it hard to argue. He would help her out and then go about his mary way. He was interested in her though, she was sharp, he could make use of that.
He headed across the street as she gave him a warning about nicknames and he grinned to himself. Perhaps he was getting under her skin just a little bit. She was a rough and tough lady cop, but that didn't make her immune to annoyance. Max reached the diner door and opened it. He held the door for Quin and gave a steep bow.
"After you Detective Quin Archer, Badge number #######" Max said, keeping his tone sincere and his face straight.
They took a booth seat by the window. Max figured the Detective would want a view of the door and the street to keep an eye out for trouble. He ordered a Coke and a burger with fries from the waitress and looked over at Quin.

As Geo told Max about the Order he looked like a solider who had returned from war reflecting on it. He had been a brother in arms, a man fighting for a cause that was greater than himself. He talked so poetically, and with fondness in his voice. Max gave a small smile.
"You know why I love art Geo?" He said, "You look at a painting, do you know by looking at it whether the painter was a mutant or not? You listen to good music? Do you know from the song? Art makes everyone a person, it's an expression of what's inside a person."
He took a long drag of his cigarette and looked up into the sky.
"I like working for Haven. We may not be what you would call freedom fighters, but I'm a mutant that can help other mutants. People will always hate, racism, sexism, now mutant hate is just another form of that. I'm gonna prove those people wrong, I'm gonna make something of myself. That's how I fight the good fight." Max smiled.
He looked back at Geo and felt a rush of embarrasment. Man had he just got swept up in his thoughts. He had just met the guy and here he was getting all philosophical.
"I go by Grav Bomb, or GB for short. Not really a handle but it was what they started calling me when I started street dancing" He supplied.

She had an impressive air of authority around her. She seemed unfazed by Max's attitude, not surprising given she announced herself as a detective. It was her job to be smart, quick thinking, and reading people. She might have found Max a bit obnoxious but she didn't know the truth. The tough guy act wasn't for her, it was for him. Even the best performer has to be able to put on a good stage face. Max wanted to come out ahead in this fiasco, so he needed to believe he would. He looked at her and tossed his arms up in mock defeat.
"Alright Detective Q, I'm cooperating. I came out here to talk. I could have run, but I don't want to be looking over my shoulder waiting for you to pop back up." He said stalling for time to think.
He could do what she said. That would be simple. The ID was useless now anyway. But what was this chat she wanted to have with him? He could tell by her stance and demeanor she was used to being in control. She had him on the corner. He couldn't let it stay that way. He pulled out the ID and held it out to her.
"I'll take option one. But I have a quick question first. If I went with option two you could hold me for 24 hours for questioning. You could charge me with possession of a false document, which is a misdemeanor in New York. By the time the lawyers got involved I'd probably just get a fine and some probation. Not a fun time but not terrible." He said taking a brief pause.
His father was a defense attorney, and a damn good one. He had been basically pushing Max to go into law since he could talk, which meant Max had spent plenty of long hours listening to his dad lecture him about cases, or sitting in his office as he talked over his current clients options. No wonder the guy had been so mad when Max decided he wanted to be a dancer.
"That sounds like just as much of a headache for you as for me. So my question is what do I get out of this for talking?"

Good news? Agnes let go.
Bad news? Giant robot fist.
Max found himself free of Agnes' hold as she fluttered behind him. He could feel his picket of gravity still clinging to her. That might slow her down a bit. The more pressing thought was Poptumus launching a punch at Max. He couldn't stop, not with all the momentum he had been using to throw Agnes off of him.
Instead he changed gravity and hopped up, pulling his knees to his chest. The fist came in fast and Max ended up doing a weird roll over it as Poptumus reached full extention of his arm. Max sprang to his feet and started running up the robots arm at full speed. Crazy idea time version 2.0 was forming in his mind.
He stashed his yoyo back into his pack with his right hand and his left followed and he grabbed one of the rolls of quarters he had in his pack. Poptumus turned his head to look at Max and Max stopped. He pulled the quarters out of his pack and with his other hand smacked the wrapper. A wave of gravity wrapping around the roll and pulling it towards Poptumus' head.
Even if your a giant robot covered in metal science still had to apply to you somehow. Eyes were lenses, lenses were easier to smash than steel. The quarter flew out in a wave of shrapnel and smacked into the blue robot eyes.
"Please work." Max shouted.
Luckily Poptumus was still humanoid enough that when hit I'm the eye he did what any person would do. He raised his hands up to his face. Agnes Prime was released as Poptumus reached upward. Max hurled himself off of the robots arm and fell towards the bloody Agnes. He caught her just before hitting the ground and negated gravity for a second to break their fall.
He wound up gently plopping to the ground with the bloody Agnes beside him. The giant robot was shouting and seemed to be recovering from Max's strike. Max looked around trying to find the Agnes that had attacked him, he couldn't lose track of her, not unless he wanted another face full of wasps.

Max raised a questioning eyebrow as the man explained why he was being chased. A Chinese gang was commuting a hate crime on a green man? Max had to be missing a crucial part of the story here, but for the moment decided it best not to ask. If the green man didn't want to spill the beans that was his right.
The man mentioned Max holding the hatchet? Had he not put it down? He looked at his hand and saw the wooden handle clamped firmly in his grip. He had payed no mind to it at the time but standing there he became hyper aware of it.
"Good point. Adrenaline man." He said.
He looked around and found an old trashcan to drop the hatchet in. He lowered his hood with his now empty hands and something clicked into place in his mind. He turned to look at the man.
"Wait I know you," He said in surprise, "Last time I saw you you were wearing a blue pimp suit in that club. Dude you gave me a good ass kicking that night. I didn't wake up till after you had already left."
The green man had faced Max in an underground fight club about a year ago. Max had attended mistaking the battle for a dance battle. He had fought to the best of his ability but the green man had put him down.

At heart he feels deeply, but covers it up with an air of hostility and roughness. He is creative and loves theater and dance, but those desires have been squashed into a box in the corner of his subconscious. He finds them to be trivial and unimportant compared to handling business.

Mutations
Mutation description:
Max is capable of manipulating the gravitational field around him and other objects. This field of “Max gravity” spreads over Max like a film, creating a small pocket of augmented gravity. By making physical contact with something else he can create an augmented gravitation field around them as well. Max is able to change the strength of gravity, either positively or negatively, as well as the direction that gravity is influencing him or an object he has touched.
Strengths: Max’s mutation allows him to float or fly by either nullifying gravity around him to allow him to lift off the ground or reversing the direction of the gravity around him causing him to effectively “fall” upward. He can also change the gravitational pull on himself allowing him to augment his punches and kicks, effectively adding additional strength to his normal blows. By changing the pull of gravity Max is able to scale vertical surfaces and even hang upside down.
By making contact with a person or object Max is capable of creating a pocket of augmented gravity around that person or object. This allows Max to make objects or people weightless, super heavy, or augment the pull of gravity to send them flying in a different direction.
Weaknesses and Limitations:
Max’s ability to augment gravity is limited by time range, surface area, and power. He is capable of creating his pockets of augmented gravity for a total of three minutes at a time, with a one minute cool down time after that. This total is cumulative, meaning no matter how many times Max changes the pull or power of gravity the effect will only last for three minutes. Using his mutation in short bursts resets this timer. Any object Max has affected will be returned to normal after the three minutes unless he is able to reapply the gravitational field. Pushing past his three minutes causes severe nausea, as well as a loss of equilibrium.
Max must make physical contact with anything he wishes to use his ability on. While mass and volume are not a factor in what Max can do surface area is as he is placing a field of augmented gravity around his target. The maximum surface area Max can manipulate and any given time is roughly the size of a compact car, or three people himself included. Pushing beyond this causes all of his pockets of gravity to snap, sending a shockwave of force back onto Max.
Max is capable of changing the strength of gravity plus or minus 1 unit of Earth’s gravity. Basically this means Max can at most double, or nullify gravity. Pushing past this limit puts strain on Max’s body causing him severe pain.
Physical Abilities
General Physical Capabilities:
Max’s physical capabilities are that of a very active athletic man. His training as a dancer has given him superior flexibility and stamina. Upping the gravitational pull on his body has helped him build powerful lean muscles.
Fighting Style:
Max fights like he tiger utilizing quick powerful motions. Using his mutation allows him to fight in a full multidimensional style. He utilizes his mutation to keep his opponent off balance and wear them down, suddenly having gravity pull you in a new direction is jarring to those not used to it. Similar tactics include allowing an opponent to punch him and using the contact as a chance to double the gravity on his assailant, this slows his foes down and also forces them to exert twice the energy to move and fight.
Fighting Style Pros/Cons:
Pros: Max’s fighting style is incredibly versatile. He is difficult to take on in a blunt head to head manner due to his abilities. It is a fluid and flashy style of fighting.
Cons: Max style doesn’t do a lot of damage, preferring to wear a person down or pin them. Dancing instinct sometimes causes moves to be more show then attack.
History Of Your Character
Max Rosewood was born in a small town in Virginia. His father was a doctor, and his mother was a lawyer. They were rather well off and what many would see as a perfect happy little family. His parents’ jobs kept them away from home often but Max was always cared for and loved by his nanny. Even when he was little he had a love for music.
Max’s mutation manifested when he was ten He was a member of the local high school’s show choir, though he couldn’t sing to save his life. He did it for the chance to be up on the stage. One day during an after school rehearsal he was working on lifts with one of the girls. He was struggling with one, trying over and over again to get the girl air born. On one such attempt the girl ran into Max’s arms and jumped. He lifted her imagining her in the air, and felt his own feet slide off the ground. In a moment of panic Max found himself hovering in mid air, the girl floating along above him in his arms. After a few moments of panic the pair fell back to Earth.
The girl was surprisingly compassionate about Max’s plight, and promised not to tell anyone he was a mutant. He struggled with telling his parents for two years, unsure how they would respond to the news. In a home where they were financially secure Max had always been encouraged to pursue his passion, he could be anything he wanted to be. He just didn’t know if his parents had planned on one of those things being a mutant.
It was when he was twelve that Max's life took an unexpected turn. One night while he was waiting for his parents to return home from a business trip out of country he found himself all alone. Hours passed and Max fell into a restless sleep. The next morning the nanny came and informed Max his parents had perished in a plane crash.
He found himself at the tender age of twelve to be orphaned and on his own. He had no family and was placed in foster care. He bounced from home to homebecoming more frustrated with the corrupt system and his own lack of power in the situation.
When he turned 16 Max tested out of high school and moved to New York to study law. He excelled scholastically and found himself sitting for the bar at the age of 21. With the memory of his lawyer father pushing him Max became a lawyer. He had his parent life insurence and invested it in starting his own law firm in order to keep a stable job.
He now lives comfortably in a high end apartment spending his days keeping criminals out of jail and his wallet very full.

V"Well there goes my good evening." Max thought.
He stared at the badge for a moment. He could run, he even considered it for a moment, but there would be a hefty process to pay. He couldn't go around having the cops chasing him and work for Haven. Plus if he ran he would have to ditch the ID and never come back to Vibe. This hadn't been a random bust. She knew his alias, and knew he was going to be here tonight that much was evident.
"Alright. Alright. No need to make a scene." He said heading for the door.
He exited into the night air and walked a little distance from the crowd outside as he weighed his options. He wasn't known for respecting authority, Max preferred to handle things himself. He had an idea of where this was going to go, the past year threw a wrench into things but have him something to work with. He turned to Quin.
"So Q, what do you wanna know?" He asked his expression blank, " Don't give me the this was a random bust crap either. You were looking for me. What's the deal?"

Geo dissolved into the ground and reappeared like it was nothing. Max couldn't keep the impressed look of his face. The guy seemed to have impressive control over his power and the fact that he made no statement about it told Max how little the guy cared about whether being a mutant was something Max appreciated or not.
"Sweet move you have there. Earth traveling is not something I've ever seen before." He said with sincerity, "I prefer to keep my feet off the ground personally."
He negated gravity and floated a few inches off the grass before settling back down. Geo talked about Mexico and Max felt a pang of longing. He had always wanted to travel, his parents frequently made big trips, but had never had the chance to.
"I've always wanted to get out of the states. Just hasn't been in the cards for me yet." He said.
He mentioned the order before making a playful jab at Haven. Max had no idea what he was talking about. He had heard that some mutants seemed to use Sanctuary as a base for some things but all that had been way before his time. Max laughed.
" I dunno man, if Haven was too proper I doubt they would have let me join. I was basically a street performer when I met Devon." Max grinned, "What's the Order? I've not been in the city for long."
