The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Already, Celeste was more prepared than 90% of the students that showed up at the mansion’s doorstep. She had her papers in order, a list of her grades and extracurriculars, and even her immunizations. That saved work in every single department, including her own. Tracking down which students were immunized, which ones had allergies, and which were just running around with the high chance of getting chickenpox kept her up at night sometimes, and there were only so many things that DocProf could heal. Knowing that at least one person there had her affairs in order was awesome.
”That’s… awesome, actually. It’s really rare that a student comes in here with that much info. We’ll definitely take all that down when we get things set up in the office,” she explained. There wasn’t all that much that they could do standing there in the library, but Juliette didn’t want to move too fast and overwhelm her. It was usually nice to give students a moment to take in the grandeur of the front lobby in all of its glory before moving behind the scenes. ”It sounds like you’re used to a few more extracurriculars than we have to offer here, but hopefully you’ll get along well enough anyway.” It was hard to offer everything with that small of a student body.
After a second, she nodded her head toward a hallway and began to walk forward, leading the girl toward where the offices were housed. First stop would be Headmaster Ruddy’s office, provided that he was actually functioning that day and it wasn’t one of his clones in there. Sometimes, it was just easier to do things yourself than to wrangle one of them into doing some actual administrative work.
As they walked, Juliette nodded at her mention of her living situation. It was great to hear that she definitely wasn’t living on the streets, and that she even had a good thing going. There were too many students there that had had to face things well beyond their years, and Juliette hated to hear more tales of that. ”I should probably let you know that housing here is free, since we know how hard life can be for young mutants. If you do want to move in, don’t let money bog you down, yeah?” She loved the fact that the Institute worked hard to provide a safe space for mutants of every age, but young ones especially.
Juliette grinned when she went on about the library. She sounded like she liked it almost as much as Booker did, which was saying something. Until a few months ago, she’d stuck almost entirely to the library at the mansion, but now, she visited the New York Public Library more often than most people, and it wasn’t always for a book. ”I go there fairly often, yeah. My boyfriend works there… maybe you know him? Booker Bookman. He works at a library. Kinda punny, huh?” That fact about him still made her grin. ”I’ll keep an eye out for you the next time I’m there.”
She rounded the corner and gestured to a hallway of doors, most of which had name plaques on them, detailing which staff member occupied which office. She’d been there lots of times, but it was always a new experience to show someone else. ”These are the offices. The Headmaster, Rudolph Kipperling, or Ruddy, as most people call him, is our first stop.” Her eyes trailed down the way to the rest of the offices and their names, stopping briefly on the name ‘Sam Johnson’. Thankfully, his office looked empty, so she could go another day without having to face him. ”Ready?”
Once Ignacio confirmed the fact that he had the boy in his grasp, Juliette felt alright switching forms. The last thing she wanted to do was get too hot and end up boiling the pool water just because she didn’t want to end up with more bruises. What they needed to do was make sure that he was alright, after all, and she couldn’t very well do that if she was afraid of touching him in her light form.
Back in her human form, Juliette swam quickly over to where Ignacio was pulling the boy onto the side of the pool. He was thrashing and talking, which were both clear indicators that he wasn’t choking on water or unconscious. They had just pulled a boy out of the water, who had either been drowning and didn’t want to be saved, or had been perfectly fine all along. Maybe he’d been playing with his mutation?
”Hey, hey,” Juliette spoke in a soothing tone over his yelling as she swam up to them. She climbed onto the side of the pool and grabbed his thrashing hands, meeting his eyes as she tried her best to be a calming influence. Bedside manner was, thankfully, one of her strong suits.
Was he calling out about not hurting anyone, though? Asking why they were doing that? There had obviously been some sort of misunderstanding between them. They were not trying to hurt him or reprimand him; quite the contrary, actually. That was the thing about the mansion, though. They got kids from all over the place who often came from troubled backgrounds and were afraid of various things. She hadn’t actually seen the boy before, either. There was a high chance that he was new. If she had known that he wasn’t actually choking on water, then maybe they could have gone about things differently.
”We’re not trying to hurt you,” she told him honestly, leaning over him and doing her best to sate his need cause them physical harm. ”Scout’s honour. Ask anyone - I’m the nurse here. I thought you were drowning.” It was good to see that he wasn’t drowning, though, even if it meant that he was angry at them for pulling him out. ”I’m Juliette and this is Ignacio. Can you tell me your name?”
Juliette did her best to be understanding about mutations. She covered for the X-Men when feathers and sand got in the air vents, and she let them do their thing. She hadn’t commented on the giant cockroach that was on their team. Still, there were things that freaked her out. Like when the PA woman’s eyes flashed with some sort of energy. It was eerie to see them as pure white.
The brunette rolled her shoulders and typed a little faster so that she could give up the computer faster than before. ”Juliette,” she supplied a moment later, her eyes still locked on the screen. ”Sorry… it’s been a long day. Long week, actually.”
She wasn’t always that grouchy. Well, okay, it was a common occurrence, but it wasn’t something that she tried for. It just happened to be her resting state. Still, if she could try to correct it, then she would do her best, even if it didn’t always work out.
With one last key stroke, Juliette sent her file to the proper location and stood up from the seat. She stepped backwards and gestured to the chair, ”all yours.” She was doing her very best to be a bit more amicable as they played a game of musical chairs. Maybe, just maybe, they could both get out of there on time.
With the MC set into motion by Rebecca’s willingness to pick up some chocolate on her way home, Juliette set to work getting the other things together that they needed. She chopped fruit, poured wine, got out the fondue pot, and gathered little bowls of things for them to dip into chocolate. Before long, there was a carefully arranged array of things on the coffee table, just waiting to be eaten. The only thing that it was missing was some melted, bubbling chocolate.
There was nothing else to set up for the experience. That was it. It was all on the table, and there were only so many times that Juliette could rearrange the bowls or knock a kitty paw away before she had to relent that there was nothing else that needed to be done. So, she sat down on the couch for a few minutes, obsessively switching between her messages and different social media apps. She really needed something to do with her hands in order to occupy herself.
After about ten minutes of that, she gave up on sitting and waiting. Instead, she began to clean. She was developing a bad good habit of cleaning whenever she was nervous or had a bit of time on her hands. Things were getting to the point where there wasn’t all that much left to clean, so she was doing things that she’d already done days before. The living room would never be dusty on her watch.
>>”We can start th’ MC in a few. Ah… Ah need a shower.”
She was leaning over a bookshelf, dusting a shelf when Rebecca walked in. It was clear that she’d been… actually, it wasn’t clear what she’d been doing, but she looked absolutely miserable. The MC would have to wait. That was alright with Juliette, actually. Couches were difficult to clean. ”Yeah, go for it. I’ve got things set up for when you’re ready,” Juliette called after her, watching her make her way to the bathroom down the hall. At least she would have the floor to clean while she was waiting.
Fifteen minutes later, Rebecca emerged, smelling far better and generally looking to be in better spirits. Juliette had mopped and dried the floor after putting the chocolate in the fondue pot to warm and melt. By the time that they were both sitting on the couch with their respective wine glasses, the smell was intoxicating. It was hard not to want to just eat it all right off the bat.
”Midnight - well, nine-thirty - chocolate is in order,” Juliette agreed with a raised glass.
She’d been waiting for a long time for her roommate to come home so that they could talk about what had happened the night before, but now that she was here, Juliette didn’t know where to begin. It was so surreal that she wasn’t even sure if all the memories were correct, so instead, she focused on something else at hand.
”So… uh… where were you?” she asked casually, nodding her head toward the door instinctively. It wasn’t every day that she walk in smelling like a sewer without any explanation.
Nothing could really beat head kisses. When Booker had bent down to kiss her after she pouted about the chocolate, Juliette softened a little. Her pout slowly turned into a partial smile as her eyes traced up to meet his, ignoring the sounds of the photographs behind them. Okay, maybe the thievery hadn’t been all that bad. She was one for second chances, after all. Silently, she broke off a piece of her chocolate bar and slipped it into Booker’s hand before continuing on.
Before they knew it, they were in the line for the CDs. Her candy bar, sadly, was all gone, leaving her with an empty wrapper to stick into the tote bag. She shifted her weight from foot to foot as they stood, keeping her eyes forward until she felt an arm around her shoulders.
She looked up at Booker and matched his grin, leaning into him and wrapping an arm around his waist in response. ”I’m glad you wanted me to come,” Juliette admitted. She felt a bit special to be invited into that world like that, especially by someone like Booker, who was leaps and bounds ahead of her. It was rare that she felt that out of her element. ”It’s a bit crazy…” she added, figuring it might be fun to make him sweat for a minute if she left it at that, ”...but I’m having fun.”
They moved up in the line and Juliette listened as Booker told her a few more tales about cons gone by. There was even one story involving Rebecca that she was just sad that no one had caught on tape. She would have paid good money to see that. As they walked, she kept her arm around his waist, moving it every now and then so that the green paint didn’t rub off on his costume. ”Did you at least get a picture of you and Rebecca like that? It sounds like that needs to be framed for our apartment.”
Finally, they were at the front of the line. Juliette smiled as she watched Booker’s enthusiasm kick in as he took photos and talked to the vendors. She didn’t really recognize any of them, but she smiled politely and made some small talk with the guy that handed her the CD while he was busy. It was sort of strange to be standing there, nearly completely contextless. She couldn’t name a single person there or what they did.
She turned to face a very pretty makeup artist(?) that was discussing she and Booker’s costumes. It was high praise, coming from a professional artist like her. ”Thanks,” Juliette responded. ”It was all him, though. I was just the all-too-gullible girlfriend that was willing to be painted,” she explained, her hand still on his back.
>>“Your makeup is amazing, but you really sell it with your posture. Have you modeled this stuff before?”
The brunette blushed bright red. Modelling was never something that she considered, especially if it involved costumes. It was, again, very high praise from someone like that. ”Uh, no I haven’t. This is actually my first time cosplaying,” she admitted. Was modelling this stuff actually something that people did?
”Oh wow, Regina!” Juliette commented with a quick nod of her head. She’d lived lots of places in the US, but she hadn’t really travelled around Canada very much. What she did know about the area was that it was mostly flat with lots of farm area. Moving to New York would certainly give her a huge culture shock for the teen. ”That’s pretty flat, huh? Must be crazy to be here now.”
>>"Sorry again."
The poor girl looked like she was just about to jump out of her skin, she was so nervous. Juliette really did feel bad for her. She looked like she’d been waiting for that moment for a bit too long, and she didn’t know how to handle herself. ”Don’t apologize,” Juliette smiled gently, ”It’s okay to be a bit nervous. No judgement.”
The paperwork and fees at the Xavier institute were a bit different than other schools. It wasn’t exactly like a boarding school, considering most of the students came by themselves rather than through a rich family. The school did its best to accommodate each and every student that needed a good education fit for mutants. It was a difficult task, but it was one that Juliette felt like the mansion did well. For the most part. Putting aside the fact that several teachers weren’t accredited.
”Well… the sister school’s a bit different than other schools. We have lots of grants and things for students that can’t pay to go to school here - we get lots of kids from situations where they can’t afford to pay tuition. We can work something out when we take a look through your resources. Sound good?”
That wasn’t to say that no one paid tuition ever. The school was able to use whatever money that people could pay, but they weren’t picky, either. Every little bit helped, especially when there were kids running around destroying their rooms every other night.
She had asked about bags, but Celeste didn’t need the help. It didn’t seem like she was a runaway living on the street, then. Usually, in that case, kids would show up with all they had and beg for a room. Or, in a few cases, be brought kicking and screaming.
Juliette nodded politely, gave her another smile, and walked toward the huge front doors. She pulled one open for Celeste and followed behind her, stepping into the front lobby. ”It’s good that you have a place to stay right now. Often, we’ll get kids in who don’t have anywhere to stay, so we have to clear out a room for them that evening. If you’re looking to move in here, then we can do it right with a bit of extra prep time.”
Something else that she’d said had struck a chord with Juliette. The library wasn’t somewhere that she’d visited all that often before a few months earlier when she’d started dating Booker, but now she went all the time. ”Do you go to the library a lot, then?” she asked casually. Not at all because she liked to think about Booker B. Bookman .
Free stuff was great and definitely worth trying to get, but most of it ended up in a drawer somewhere or, eventually, in the trash. It was just a fact of life and nicknacks. There just wasn’t enough use for most little things unless you were a collector of them.
Snacks, on the other hand, had eternal use. They were always good, and there was never not a need for them. As Juliette munched on her chocolate bar, she was glad that they’d chosen to go there and grab that bag. Free food would keep them going so that they could find even more free things. It was an all around good situation.
Still, while Juliette had been sated by her candy bar, Booker had his eyes on more things. She narrowed her eyes at him as he stole and ate a piece of her chocolate and held the bar a little farther away from him as they talked. Now that they had the bags, they could visit any vendor and not have to worry about having to carry around little things or fill their arms with big ticket items in a room full of people.
What they needed to do was make sure that they got to the good tables first so that they got the items that only came in a limited quantity. That made sense; they could do anything that was all day after they’d done the time-sensitive things. It was just good that they’d gotten there early so that they still had the time to do things like that without having to worry about the whole day being sucked away to that. There was no way that Juliette was putting on body paint and missing work two days in a row if they spent too long getting swag.
>>”…that one is for the anniversary of the musical space opera, the Sixth Element. I caught wind that the first fifty people get an exclusive cut of the soundtrack! Come on!”
She followed his line of vision over to a table not far away that looked to be boasting a display of a space scene with a splattering of famous actors and actresses on the poster. It was also where the music was coming from, it seemed. She’d known that she’d recognized the song that was playing, but she hadn’t been able to place it until that moment. She stared at it for about a second before she felt her arm be pulled along toward the table.
”Uh- okay!” she agreed with a bit of a squeak. It seemed like she didn’t really have much of a choice, which was fair, considering she’d turned over the navigation to him. Up until then, he hadn’t steered them wrong, so it was time to see whether that streak would continue or not.
Booker had led them over to the queue in front of the table, and the line moved quickly. It wasn’t long before they were nearing the front again.
For a moment, Juliette worried that she’d scared the girl, who seemed to be wincing. Maybe she was just nervous? The brunette remembered feeling extremely nervous when she’d first arrived there, and it had only been a year ago. She could hardly imagine what it would be like to arrive as a teenager without an escort.
The girl quickly cleared up her initial worries by giving her a smile, which Juliette easily returned. She stood on the grass and waited as the girl approached, using the same method of displaying her empty hands to show that she meant no harm. That was good at least; the mansion had a long, illustrious history of being attacked. Not that showing up unarmed meant a whole lot in a world full of mutants.
Just like she’d figured from the fact that the girl was around the right age and seemed to be showing up between semesters, she was there to enrol. That was certainly something that Juliette was equipped to deal with. In fact, it happened at the mansion fairly often. Mutant teens didn’t always have the easiest time getting used to their powers, and the students there had an abnormally high number of dead and estranged parents. It was something that they were trained specifically to tackle.
”Well awesome! If you want to-” she had been about to go into a speech about how they could get her set up and running when she began to speak again. It was clear from the way she kept going that she was very nervous, which was understandable. She was (probably) a mutant teen all alone in a new place, and she wasn’t quite sure what to do with herself. The X-Man simply let her finished before saying anything else.
”That’s alright, Celeste,” Juliette reassured her with a breezy smile. She made sure to use her name and speak in a soft tone to make sure that she felt comfortable and relaxed there. It was something that she’d learned while treating volatile patients. ”This must be kind of crazy, huh? New York is a bit different from lots of parts of Canada. Where about are you from?”
She glanced around briefly to see if there was anyone else with the girl that she’d just missed. It didn’t seem like it. It seemed like the best course of action was just to introduce herself and take her inside, then. ”I’m Juliette, and yes, I’m part of the faculty here. I teach Health and I’m a member of the X-Men. Now, radiation sounds kinda dangerous, but you look like you have pretty good control of things. Why don’t we talk a bit more inside? I can get you set up with the paperwork to enrol.”
With a slight nod of her head toward the mansion, Juliette beckoned her inside. ”Do you have any bags that I can grab?”
A little bit ahead. She just needed to stay a little bit ahead at all times. Juliette had gained quite the following while flying in her light form down the street. As she went, more and more of the creatures seemed to appear, all with their ‘arms’ out, trying to grab the light source. It was like something from a zombie movie.
Only, each time they touched, they seemed to connect. She’d noticed it first when a large blob of them had stumbled over from near the rift, and then again when it touched a nearby creature. The mass only seemed to grow, and more were popping up near it. The poor people that had been underneath. Was there anything left of them?
She had done a lap of zigzagging around the sectioned off streets, and the restaurant was in sight. They were getting closer, so all she could do was hope that Jorge, and possibly Ghost, were ready for them. She wasn’t sure if she could keep the creatures still for very long, even if she did get her light energy replenished.
Things would be easier if she could fly rather than run. It was more difficult to try to stay in front of a writhing mass of creatures on foot than it would have been if she could just stay a few feet out of reach whenever they tried to grab upward. If Jorge could come in with the light, then at least that issue would be solved. They would have numerous others, but that would make things easier.
They had reached the street out in front of the restaurant. They’d gone as far as they could go without doing another lap, and Juliette knew that her powers wouldn’t last that long. She could see into the restaurant through the windows, but she couldn’t see Jorge inside. In fact, he wasn’t anywhere near the place. Where had he gone? Had he come up with something different and failed to let her know? Or was he hiding to not be touched by one of them?
Juliette was about to panic when she saw movement in a car in front of the place. She could see just into the tinted windows, and it looked like he was trying to get it to turn on. Hopefully, he was intending to use the headlights as a power source. That would certainly make things much easier.
As Juliette slowed in front of the building, her powers flickered. She turned to human form briefly before turning back. For a second, she had lost the attention of the creatures and they had gone back to their own business. One had even tried to make a grab for her, showing that they would get violent when they were in the further stages of whatever was causing their condition.
”Alright, Jorge, any time now,” she called into the com, taking a step back to avoid a hand grabbing for her light form. They were descending upon her like flies, and there weren’t many places that she could go. All she could do was wait for Jorge.
The vendors likely got very sick of dealing with lines of people just wanting free stuff rather than actually wanting anything to do with them all day. Juliette could imagine that it could get rather frustrating to feel that invisible compared to their product, so she nodded along to what Booker was telling her. It was better to make sure that they weren’t just treating other human beings like cardboard cutouts. It was a fair thing to ask without a doubt.
She had grinned at the compliment given by the guy behind the table, glad that their effort hadn’t gone to waste. People were noticing their costumes (and her body paint) and taking note of it. It was a good feeling; a little different than when she was out in her X-costume, but a little similar too. People looked at you differently when you weren’t dressed like everyone else.
It was the tote bags that they were really there for, though. Juliette stepped a little to the side and let Booker do the talking for the both of them. She figured that he would know the tricks to get them the best experience possible, considering she knew exactly nothing about what they were doing. It was a new experience for her, and he was her guide - just like in the library, but they didn’t have to worry about it not being acceptable. She liked that bit best.
“Hold on. I’ll get you a couple of the really good ones.”
”Ooh, that sounds exciting,” Juliette grinned and then turned to face Booker with an expression of anticipation. It sounded like they were getting special treatment, which was always something to look forward to. She wasn’t sure what factor about them had made them look like good candidates, but she was glad that it did. Although, if it turned out to be how low-cut her shirt was in the front, then she was a little less thankful.
She smiled at the guy as he returned with two tote bags that looked to be a little more full than the ones on the table. It was exciting to be receiving something like that, just like that. No strings. ”Thanks so much,” she said with a wide smile.
“Anytime. Enjoy responsibly, ya hear?”
Juliette stepped away from the table and opened the top of the bag to take a peek inside. From what she could tell, there was actually a bit of thought put into the bag. There was a little Xenomorph bobblehead figurine, a poster, two chocolate bars, and a lanyard. It was free stuff that wasn’t actually complete crap!
The green woman took out one of the chocolate bars from the bottom of the bag and unwrapped it carefully. ”Okay, so I’m digging the swag so far,” she told Booker after taking and swallowing a bite. ”I’m going to let you direct us again, because that was a good - delicious - call.”
Juliette could swim, but she wasn’t anything particularly amazing. She was a little better on land than on water. She also knew that as much as she could pretend to be independent and fight for feminism, this really wasn’t the time. Ignacio would have an easier go of trying to pull the boy out of the water, so she let him go ahead and grab him. Hopefully, they would be able to pull him out in time.
She had reached her hand out behind Ignacio to grab the boy as well, but as she did, she was blasted backwards. She’d never felt anything like it; it was like water being blasted at her from the boy. It was likely his mutation. Whatever it was, it had pushed her into the side of the pool so hard that she would likely have a bruise the next day.
The force of the blast had knocked the air right out of her. As quickly as she could manage, Juliette swam to the surface and gulped for air. There was something else going on there, clearly. In a school full of mutants, the likely answer was that it was, in fact, his mutation. What she couldn’t figure out was whether it was his body trying to protect itself instinctively or whether he was freaking out and lashing out at them. If it was the former, then he could still be in danger and unable to breathe. Either way, he needed to come out of that pool.
She wasn’t about to dive back down unprotected, though. Juliette glanced around for Ignacio as she shifted into her light form. ”I’m not sure what’s going on, but we need to get him out as soon as possible. He could still be drowning,” she said hurriedly.
With that extra protection, she dove back down with her arm stretched forward. Her light form was magnified by the water, which interrupted the light waves and made patterns dance along the sides of the pool. She hadn’t waited for Ignacio, figuring that he would follow behind her. Now was the time to see whether his X-Men training was doing anything at all.
Patrolling was a duty of the X-Men that Juliette found herself often unable to do. With the amount that she worked and trained, there weren’t many daylight hours left for her to volunteer to patrol with. Nights were out, too. She hated being outside when it was dark, and ever since she’d moved out, she tried not to stay at the mansion past sunset. It was just easier that way.
However, when the rare occasion when she had a free afternoon and it worked in the schedule, Juliette did her best to volunteer. It really wasn’t much out of her comfort zone, after all; usually, things were pretty normal, and it was just a really good excuse to spend her entire afternoon outside. When things were slow, she was able to get a jog or some yoga in, and the whole time could be spent in the sun. It was a perfectly relaxing afternoon.
She had to be careful not to let herself get too relaxed, though. The mansion could still be attacked, or random people could try to get inside. It wasn’t as if the notion was totally unheard of - it happened at least once a week. She had to be looking around at least a little bit.
At least, that was what she was telling herself as she moved between yoga positions and adjusted her sunglasses. She was on the grass behind the mansion, generally enjoying herself. It had been a while since she’d checked out front, though, and the couldn’t completely neglect the duty. She stood straight up and stretched before trekking back out to the front of the building.
It was still quiet. Juliette stood and surveyed the area for a minute, dressed in a green tank top, jean shorts, and black strappy sandals. It seemed very much like nothing had changed since the last time that she’d taken a walk around the building… except for one thing. One very blonde thing.
The thing was a girl, sitting on the curb outside of the building, almost as if she was deciding whether or not to go in. She was so silent that Juliette almost hadn’t noticed that she was there (unlike most of the students at the mansion). For a moment, she considered leaving the girl alone to her thoughts, but she knew that it was her job to make her feel welcome. That was part of the reason they even had people patrolling in the first place. She needed to make sure that she found her way and got settled if that was her intent.
”Hi there,” Juliette greeted, flashing the girl a smile as she approached carefully. She gave her a little wave, partially in greeting and partially to show that she came in peace, without weapons. Weapons that weren’t her, anyway. ”Is there something I can help you out with?”
Yes, Juliette was alright with looking for somewhere else to live. She was alright with it, but it wasn’t what she wanted to do. What she wanted to do was keep living there with Rebecca and watching their cats fall quickly in love. It was the perfect situation, or, at least, it would be if it were permanent.
Except, permanent was exactly what Rebecca was offering. She was giving Juliette the chance to move in with her and become her official roommate. It was almost too good to be true, which was part of the reason that Juliette was a little aprehensive about accepting the offer right away. She wanted to make sure that Rebecca knew exactly what she was doing when she let the brunette become a permanent leech on her living situation.
As the warm chocolate pressed against her cheek, though, she knew just how real it was. She opened her mouth and squealed in shock, automatically sticking her hands out and her leg up in defence. That was a low, chocolatey blow.
”Was that my initiation?” Juliette asked with a joke, wiping the chocolate off of her cheek with her pointer finger before licking it off. Chocolate was too good to waste. While she appeared distracted, she flicked her own skewer over, touching the chocolate-covered marshmallow to her friend’s forehead. ”Happy to be home, Becca,” she said through a giggle.
The Third MC: Feelin' Good
Cloud nine was a wonderful cloud. A wonderful, fluffy cloud that Juliette was certain she could spend forever on. Well, she could if she kept having nights like the one she’d just had, anyway.
Booker B. Bookman had gone from the guy that she felt bad for catching feelings for, to the guy that she shouldn’t have kissed, to the guy that could maybe be something, and finally, he had become the guy that definitely was something. Their second date had been… well, incredible. It had lasted just long enough, and now Juliette had to come down from it.
She’d come home to an empty apartment, so, without anyone to talk to, she’d just gone to work. Work breezed by, and before she knew it, she was at home again, and Becca still wasn’t there. She needed a good, healthy dose of girl-talk, but to do so, she needed her girl. With an easy motion, she took out her phone and shot a quick text to Becca.
Hey, can you pick up some chocolate on your way home?
It’s for a good reason this time
The second text had been sent a few minutes before for clarification. Chocolate late at night had become their tradition for when things went wrong, but there was no reason that it couldn’t also be a time for celebration. Chocolate was always good for celebrations.
While she waited for the redhead, Juliette puttered around the kitchen, pulling things out for them to dip in the fondue. A bottle of red wine sat open on the kitchen counter; Juliette had poured herself a glass a while ago and was holding it loosely as she moved about the kitchen.
Ever since their meeting in the spare office, Juliette had made a point to act as a mentor to Ignacio. She’d found him in a dark place, but with a little push, he’d seemed to be doing better during the past few weeks. More than that, he’d taken her advice and joined the X-Men as a trainee. Things were definitely looking up for the teenage sun god.
Since moving up from trainee herself, Juliette had done her best to work as a sponsor for him and try to teach him the ins and outs of having a light mutation. Of course, things were different between the two of them, but it still gave her a little bit of joy each time that she could share something she’d learned and see the payout from it. Really, there was no better feeling than seeing him strive.
Of course, training wasn’t something that could happen 24/7. Every once in a blue moon, Juliette had some time off when she wasn’t training, teaching, working as a nurse, or hanging out with Booker, which meant that they could have a little bit of down time. She didn’t mind accompanying Iggy to the pool for a bit of extra sun time one bit. She had grand plans to sit and suntan for as long as she was able before heading back home to her and Becca’s apartment.
>>"Juliette, thank you for going to the pool with me! I know you're busy being gorgeous and a bomb ass nurse so it really means a lot."
Juliette grinned at Ignacio and shook her head as they walked out to the pool. She was dressed in a white bikini, barefoot as they walked outside. Shoes were for suckers. She shifted her towel between her hands as she replied, ”Sunbathing really isn’t a difficult sell, buddy,” she joked with a wide smile. They spoke the same language: sunshine and fresh air.
Padding around the pavement surrounding the pool, she set her towel down on one of the chairs and turned to face the water as she pulled her hair into a ponytail. ”How’s all the training be-” she stopped mid sentence as she spotted something, or, rather, someone at the bottom of the pool. It looked like someone was just lying at the bottom. No one had been splashing when they’d arrived, and clearly, no one else had gotten in the pool. If that really was a person, then they’d been down there for far too long to be alright.
”Iggy, we need to get him out of the pool,” Juliette said hurriedly as she stepped toward the edge of the pool. She didn’t have lifeguard training, but she did have CPR training. If she could get him out of the pool, then she would be able to navigate from there. Expecting the young trainee to follow after her, she dove into the water and swam toward where the boy was.
I'd be happy to set up a thread with you! I have Juliette, who works at the mansion and could help Celestina find her way to getting enrolled. I also have Astrid Dubois, Natalie Ross, and Charlie Sinclair if you're looking to go a different route. PM me if you're interested in something!
And in terms of tips, the biggest one I can give you is popping into the cbox! It's the best way to get integrated into the site and get some plots rolling.
