The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He wasn’t shedding skin right now, he didn’t go through that too often, when he did, he typically got it out of the way with a loofa and a hot shower.
“There issn’t a lot I don’t do.”
“I run a ssmall yard work bussinesss, with sseveral of the other manssion kidss, we do oddss and endss for a lot of the neighborss. I realized a long time ago that I could clean gutters and windows in a fraction of the time a crew with ladders could, ssome of the other kidss do mow, rake chop wood, and decorate.” He paused to grin. “or the equivalent of, we never do thingss the old fasshioned way really. Initially it wass my way of making ssome extra cassh, while making ssure the neighborss knew we were sstill just a bunch of kidss. But itss turned into a pretty ssuccesssful businesss, and diplomacy tool, the houssess around uss pay really wel,l ass they have more fundss then they know what to do with. And we work more efficiently than any normal labor might.”
He looked to the man driving. “Other than that, I train, I hone any and every sskill I can think of, or get ssomeone to teach me ssomething that might come in handy. I assspire to become one of the X’ss. I’m on pretty good termss with Ssam and Sshinbo, I jusst need to get in a bit more field work and I think I will probably sstart with the next batch of x-men.” The grin on his face showed with pride. The countless hours he had spent reading manuals, running danger room simulations and hitting the streets, he had stopped countless muggings, rapes and attacks in general. Watch an area that had a crime rate and attack criminals with an unforgiving ferocity and persistence and the crime would shift to another place. It never went away, merely shifted.
Time slipped away and for once there was no clock to watch count down, only the steadily fading of the light. Koga hugged her tightly. This wasn’t a world for putting things to chance, taking unnecessary risks. Not anymore. He wouldn’t ask something of her like that, when he would see her tomorrow.
“No, well, don’t be later than you are already, I promise, I will be at your gatesss in the morning, alone. I want you home ssafe.I won't rissk you after jusst having found you again...or being found rather.”
“I, for the mossst part have their trusst, that and I don’t think they are two worried about what I might do, or even if I return at all ssometimess, I am ssimply a reliable ssource of labor and a competent hunter. In other wordss, sshould I tell them I will be back ssometime later in the week?” Koga’s eyes searched hers, was this all moving too fast?
He wondered briefly if there would be trouble with the townies or if they would simply take Gina at her word that he was clear.
Koga nodded encouragingly and left the subject at that for now. If Nate wouldn't give him more to work with than he wouldn't press the matter, even if the man did make him explain his intentions in detail.
"Beatss buss hopping around town." there were probably few people that meant that the way he did. He often played frogger from the tops of vehicles in new york traffic, he tried to stick to trucks and buses but every so often he would end up on the top of a cab and wonder if he would survive to see another day.
"Sso?" Koga asked testing the water for topics of conversation, letting the man have his choice of what to discuss. he considered bringing up the Xmen, but reminded himself he was going to let Nate take the lead.
Koga looked at Gina Somewhat surprised. “Really? Killed?...I think I’ve been misslead about the sseverity of their activitiess further from the fortresss."
“While that’ss all disconcerting, I can’t imagine I’d want anyone tagging along anyhow.” He smirked at the thought of bringing one of the amazons along to watch how a civil male and female interacted. Koga blanked out for a bit, his thoughts becoming far away things immersed in a fog induced by Gina’s kissing. He nodded to her words, agreeing that attempting to become sustainable was the best course of action even though he would likely end up making a farmer of himself.
If nothing else he could stand vigil over the woman betrayed by a wicked world even as they became or remained wicked in some cases. He could remind them that at least one man knew how to be cordial and decent.
Koga let himself just be at peace with the woman he loved in his arms. No more thoughts of politics or the why and how of the chaotic world they lived in, only the gift it had returned to him on this day.
Koga’s eye widened a slightly. Surprised by the smooth talker having any trouble with the ladies. He breezed right past the why he needed to patch things and opted to go strait to the how to. “ssoundss like ssome wooing wouldn’t hurt. Perhapss ssomething that playss to your sstrengthss might be your best option asss it wass mine. Have you painted or created anything for her lately? Ssomething ssubtle yet ssweet?”
Koga winked. “After all a wise man once told me so long as the gift is sincere and thoughtful it can be damned near anything.” He stood waiting for the man’s thoughts on the idea not even beginning to realize what his problems might be or if a gift would begin to resolve overlying issues. Perhaps in a few months he would be able to connect with Nate on a more friendly level as he would no longer be a student and would hopefully be part of the staff by then… what would that mean for Gina and he, surely there was some sort of rule against staff and student fraternizing…they’d work around it. he consoled himself. And realigned his thoughts with the matter at hand.
Koga’s eyebrows raised. “Perhapss ssomething I can help with ssooner than later? It would only be a fair to return the favor.” He smiled kindly. Nate’s situation sounded a bit more serious than Koga’s. He was almost absolutely certain that Gina, would say yes to him, he just wanted to figure out how to make it that much more special. Holloway seemed like he was having problems that might be on going.
He would need to hear more about the situation before he helped but he would be there for the man that had just inspired him. He looked to the teacher with wide and concerned eyes of solid black. To see if some how he would be allowed to help in some venture to sooth the heart of his love interest.
Now that his matter was settled it seemed like the cognitive reasoning he had been lacking was restored. Holloway’s special someone didn’t stand a chance against the likes of the duo.
Hmmmm, He would remember it well, so that might be a good point. He was a little confused by Nate’s change of heart, he was almost certain the man would steer him away from anything involving privates. Performances! Private performances.
He listened as Holloway, expounded on his reasoning and the logic of it was sound. He couldn’t be there to cuddle her at night so why not employ a little stuffed minion to do the cuddling for him. It was decided then. Would it be presumptuous to give her something reptilian? Surely, he would be harvesting a fondness for his kind in her.
Koga smiled, pleasantly delighted by Mr. Holloway’s genius. Koga bowed, literally. “That iss perfect. If there is anything I can ever do to help you, not that I wouldn’t have before, but you can absolutely count on me.” A weight was suddenly lifted from his shoulders that would work perfectly.
Koga reeled in his reflexes and resisted the urge to attempt move the hand on his shoulder into a submission hold. He was smiling and as the man was a teacher he could safely assume it wasn’t a smile that spoke of ill intent, rather it spoke of good will. Nate had sufficiently put him on edge with the line of questioning and obvious protectiveness. He could appreciate that though, anyone looking out for Gina was good in his book.
“I hadn’t thought of it that way.” He spoke quietly..he didn’t want her to feel indebted to him. maybe he should ask her out first and then give her the present, whatever her answer. He grinned as Mr. Holloway lightened the mood.He hadn’t considered appliances or power tools. Thought he was pretty sure everyone loved a good nail gun.
He nodded to the sage advice of avoiding a gift card, he had considered that as a possibility if he simply couldn’t decide, taking that off the table made things simpler. “Hmmmm. I could composse ssomething for her…record it? I dunno…”
He paused he had been thinking of an item. Would the thought truly be worth more ? Than say a piece of jewelry? She had liked the danger room program. Hmmm. He looked to Nate for conformation or dismissal of the Idea.
“I know, you would have. You have no more to apologize for then I do.” He smiled ruefully. “We’ve been sso closse and sso far away all thiss time. “
“I intend on keeping you every minute I can.” He shook his head. “After I bring that home, I doubt I would be able to convince them to let me stay for fear of losing track of these pigs. I could tell them that I’ll catch some and they can keep them as live stock. They could try to do something to me, but I like to think they know me well enough that they wouldn’t. I know they are terrible to people, but in the fortress of bones, they let their guard down a bit, they don’t have to put on the show of being the last thing you want to see in New york. I’ve heard some of the things that have happened to them, and I hate myself for being able to understand them. But I can’t blame them for taking charge of themselves. I wish they would concentrate on being a positive influence on the world opposed to a self sustaining beast. But this isn’t the world it used to be.”He stopped himself there, He didn’t know if she lost anyone to them, or if the town lost someone to them.
“If they found out about us, I doubt they’d hold it against me. I’m not a prisoner, don’t get me wrong I’m sure they’d give me hell. But I make myself useful and they aren’t going to turn someone away that brings home bacon.”He thought that was probably true. They treated him like crap sometimes. The whole speech had been broken up by kisses, anything that his lips could reach, the top of her head while it rested on his chest, her face anytime he could reach it. His hands bravely traveled the line of temptation daring themselves to move further and raining themselves in the moment they started to.
“In other wordss. I’ll come ssee you tomorrow. If we hadn’t met each other, I would have come back here anyhow. Insstead, I’ll be coming to you, somewhere I’ve dreamed of for years.” To solve the problem even more. “If it really becomes an issue I’ll convince them I can bring stuff home from town, I’ll hunt until I get enough worth trading and bring back whatever they’ll trade with me maybe I can convince Dahlia, Kat and Kait that it’s time to head for the town.”
How was he going to behave himself for hours? Why was he trying again? He was going to need to keep reminding himself, There was something overwhelmingly distracting about her the woman he loved laying on top of him and kissing him.
Koga nodded and was a bit confused by the tone. He was getting off of the teacher, If he hadn’t been a teacher at an all mutant school he might have jumped to conclusions and thought the misunderstanding had something to do with his appearance or her appearance and things might have escalated quickly. But after listening a moment longer he realized the misunderstanding. He glanced around the fairly populated hallway and looked a bit embarrassed.
“If we could walk and talk I’ll clarify my intentions.” He swallowed as he received the older brother look from the second mutant he had mentioned dating Gina to. First Agnes, now Nate Holloway. He headed for the front door and waited a moment or two to be clear of the majority of the other students. With the exception of that one kid that could hear anything and everything on campus, they were probably good. “I asssure you my intentss are noble and purpossess pure.” His hand went to the back of his head shyly.
“Gina would be my firsst girlfriend. If she decided to be my girlfriend. I intend on asking her formally.” He dropped his hand and faced the slightly taller man. Looking him in the eyes. “I’ll be candid. You are right in ssaying sshe iss ssweet, That iss part of what drawss me to her, Sshe iss innocent. I’m not the kind of guy to look for a” He looked for a polite term. “ fasst girl. I’m not a fasst guy. While I undersstand your concern, I think the fact that I am embarrassed by it ssayss a lot about why it is unwarranted.”
He took a deep breathe How the heck did you say something like this without being dirty? “If that isn’t blunt enough, well… let me put it this way. I am old fashioned. Your concerns, or what I think you are concerned with, wouldn’t be an issue unless I was married.” He swallowed hard again. Thinking about marriage was way too early at this point. “ But, I think asss I’m trying to think of ssomething nice to give her before I assk her to go ssteady with me, thinking about marriage might be a bit premature.”He tried to be as earnest as he could.
He cleared his throat. “ That ssaid. What am I hoping happenss between the two of uss? I hope to get to know her better, well enough that I don’t have to ssit in a hallway perplexed at what sshe might like. I hope that we will both find ssomething worth holding onto for a long time. “ He was a little bit surprised by that. Was he already looking so far into the future? He supposed he was. “in the short term though, I was hoping to have a nice time with a great girl.” He looked to the man wondering if his answers sufficed, Or if he was still to be held accountable for the actions of a stereotypical eighteen year old male.
He nodded to the confirmation of his logic on not acquiring tips from the interwebs. Not extravagant…but it should be like an insect at its nest. Ok. He would keep that in mind. A wide smile sprouted on Koga’s nest and interrupted his thought process. “ Gina Schuyler.” He said it in a way that a rainbow butterflies and flowers might have sprouted from and wasn’t even slightly aware that his being smitten was so visible.
He looked to the man who he thought might have a handle on interacting with the ladies. “ Do you happen to have her in any of your classes?” he inquired to see if they would be going off shared knowledge or just what information he managed to get from her while on their date.
Koga bowed slightly. “Yess, that iss me. You can call me Koga, or Ryuichi if you like. Nice pronunciation by the way. ” He loved to hear his name pronounced properly the first time. He paused a moment wondering how much he should say or how one went about asking advice for such a thing. He supposed he would do it like he did anything else, be strait forward.” I wass going to assk your advice, I have a ssituation that I’m not ssure how to approach and I don’t think there iss an instruction manual anywhere on the topic, I mean there iss of coursse the internet, but I think trussting ssomeone I’ve met would be a little wisser in thiss casse. I want to get a girl a present, we’ve only been on the one date so I don’t want ssomething too over the top, but I don’t want to underwhelm her either. I’m head over heelss for her, but don’t want to smother her…I. I am typically much more logical, but Sshe has me on tilt.” He smiled admitting it to someone he had rarely talked with, passing in the hall and nodding, directions here or there and yet she had him babbling to an acquaintance. Albeit a trust worthy one.
He reeled in the goofy smile on his face. “ So In short, I need help.” The smile started to bubble back up.
Koga counted this week’s earnings from clearing the gutters and washing the windows of the several neighbors that were relieved to see he was ok, and back in business, there was something to be said for the way mutants could do tasks that required other workers to use so much more. He rotated his clients with a few other kids from the mansion, each specialized to a specific task. He had more than enough to by a good gift for Gina, but how much was too much? to exspensive, too soon, he could have made her a mix tape and made her happy…he knew she would be pleased with whatever he got her…but that wasn’t the point, he didn’t want her simply happy, he wanted her enamored. There were a ton of males in this school and with the living quarters set up, this was a rough place to operate in. he didn’t think that she would date anybody else but they hadn’t talked about being exclusive either.
He sat on the steps into the main entry. He was going to go out shopping, but he wanted an idea of where to go first.
He had one idea, that would make her happy, relieved…but he would have to find some leads for that. Maybe sewing stuff, some nice fabric that matched an outfit to augment? It was thoughtful…but was it right? He could buy her some literature, but how could he guess everything she had already read? He could talk to agnes, but he was pretty sure she was ready to hurt him after he had managed to steal Gina’s heart so quickly.
He stared at the floor. What was he going to do?
He looked to Mr. Halloway walking toward the exit. He could make her some art…He tilted his head, he was much better at rendering images with computers…”nah.’ What he needed was advice.
He hopped up and fell instep with the art teacher , they had seen each other around, heck he even looked into the guys past for Sam shortly after he returned. He was solid, besides, he had a good feeling about him, he seemed the type to attract trouble to him, not cause it. at least that was Koga’s take on him after he got a good feel for the paperwork said he was. Holloway of course knew nothing about the investigation.
Koga peered down at the chairs below him, sometimes you just had to fight..this wasn’t one of them, he was fairly certain throwing himself against the chairs was a waste of energy. Capturing them however. That was worthwhile. He spied a giant spool of router wire and made a loop and lowered over the closest jumping desk chair it reminded him of those magnetic fishing games that rotated. He then proceeded to tangle the cord around the other chairs tripping them up and forcing them to work against each other. he gave them more and more rope to hang themselves and as it came to the end he threaded it between poles that held up a shelf on the wall. He yanked the cord taught like a sailor raising the main sail, arms pumping, he tied a Palomar knot and a clinch knot right behind it these chairs weren’t going anywhere. He looked down at his catch and was amused to see the chairs were spinning and kicking further entangling themselves, this proved something he was wondering about, just because he could animate them, it didn’t make every object sentient. He released the ceiling and landed on the floor, staying well away from the wall that had the shelf that harbored the deranged desk chairs.
He lunged at the door and set to the hinges, this door didn’t bother to fight him, perhaps the destruction distraction crew was doing their part down in the lobby. He pulled the door from the frame and entered to find desks harassing a rather large group of people. Crap! These weren’t school desks but CEO huge hardwood desks.
One of the beasts charged him as hard as it could while a second followed and a third kept stomping at the hostages. He leapt and landed on the first desk as it slammed into the wall, the only reason he was still in the rodeo was his gecko grip. The front right corner shattered on the desk and it now ran with a limp the second desk charged into the first and Koga leapt free, it was a destruction derby and the desks were angry at each other, the second seized on the weakness of the first and proceeded to dominate it. the third desk stomped and attacked the second. He shot the group of hostages a look that said he didn’t know what to say about what exactly was going on below him.
He pulled his Wakasashi and quickly accessed the hammer from his kit and dropped from the ceiling once more sending the overly sharpened blade into the desk and set to hammering with a wreck less abandon that could only be appreciated by another teen male. His was set to Destroy. Desk one was all but dead, desk two was down but not out, it pounded on big papa desk three with its drawers as Koga savagely destroyed the fine carpentry. Desk three fell to the onslaught of desk two and Koga eventually. And Koga put desk two out of its misery with two solid blows. It stumbled and fell.
He looked to the crowd and wiped the sweat from his forehead.”I’ve a friend ready to escort you to the next building over, We’ll get you out of here, but you’ll have to be brave for us. Koga grabbed another coil of networking cable from the shelf, the chairs seemed subdued after witnessing the way the desks went down. Koga tied the cord around a pipe sticking out of the building. “ do you want me to go first, secure it over there somewhere?” there was about thirty something people up here. Ready to evacuate. Mostly office tapes, a delivery person or guest here or there.
