The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“Yeah. Don't get me wrong, I know some mutations are nasty if used for crime, and some ah even kind of scary. But it still stinks. A few nimrods ruin it for everyone else.”
He nodded, not having much else to say that wouldn't start an unnecessary fight. They were on the same page at least. He crossed his arms trying to think of something else to say when Clyde brought up another topic. “Just to let you know, if you ever meet a guy heah with wings, a tail, and an Irish accent, keep an eye on yo things. That idiot steals, and NOT because he needs it. Plus, his stupidity could have killed me.”
"Okay, not that I have much to steal, but does this winged thief guy have a name?" He was curious about the other residents of the mansion. Slowly he was meeting them one by one and the fact that there was an apparent thief among them was an interesting factoid. Perhaps useful too, one could never know where help would come from.

"...oh my god... my heart is going like, ninety miles a minute."
He smiled half-heartedly, still a little torn up inside but at least okay on the surface. "You're okay, right?" It wasn't really necessary to ask. In the dim of the emergency light he could see her. A little frazzled but nothing bad. "C'mon, let's get out of here." He turned and headed down the short flight of stairs, 3 down to the bottom and they were practically back where they started.
"Hey, could you not...tell anybody what happened up there? Actually, after this, maybe it would be best to pretend I never existed?"he said softly. He felt a little bitter about it, Shelby was a good person and he would like to stay with her longer. But it wouldn't be right to continue to mooch off her for one and for two it was the safer option for the both of them if they went their separate ways.

“I know what you mean. There aren't too many places where people can use their mutations without drawing negative attention. There's such a huge stereotype about people like us.”
The mass of insects clustered and swirled as Alex listened. "Well...They're not exactly wrong..."he admitted. It wasn't like he hadn't run into dangerous mutants who either abused their mutations or just simply couldn't control them. Normal people had every right to get a bit freaked out. It was just an unfair circumstance that those who did have control and didn't abuse their mutations were grouped in with those that did.
"I don't know about you, but I know my mutation is dangerous and that normal people have a right to get scare. It's only natural, a base instinct in the face of the unknown."he said with a shrug, almost casual with the idea that people wouldn't stand for his mutation.

He jolted a bit when the man popped into place in front of him and hurried to catch up with him. Alright the guy was definitely a mutant and hell, he was casual about it. That was nice to know. Perhaps this restaurant was one of those mutant friendly places. On catching up with the man he grabbed the apron and put it on. "Right, anywhere specific I should start?" Running a hand through his hair, he realized he was going to look a bit out of place here. Well if anything he could honestly say that it was his first day on the job and that he hadn't been able to by the appropriate clothes and what not if anybody asked.

Well he was glad hadn't offended the guy too badly. A good thing too, he didn't want to ruin what he was quickly beginning to consider home. At the mention of practicing he glanced back at the swarm of insects then back at Clyde. "Yeah, you could say I am." He shrugged, not really seeing it as too big a deal, "Honestly this is probably the freest I've ever been with my powers lately." The swarm buzzed and swirled lazily behind him, matching his calm emotions.

"See, that's the cocky attitude that probably got you into this situation in the first place. Secondly you will not handle it because this is my bar, my liquor license, and my a** on the line for having an underage worker."
He bit his tongue from saying anything further. It wouldn't do to bite back with a sarcastic remark, no matter how much he wanted to. Honestly cockiness has both been his detriment and his benefit in equal amounts. While it led to him having to run from some situations, it also got people to trust his judgement when they wouldn't otherwise. Confidence, even when faced with the unknown, is better than paralyzing doubt.
"Even so, its not doing me any good to just sit here wasting my time so, after you."
He stood as Randy did and stepped through the door. "Whatever you say sir."he said, keeping his tone as respectful as he could. "Do I need to wear a uniform or something?"he asked curiously glancing back at the older man.

He heard the ceramic sliding before he could see it. Well no, he really couldn't see it. It was too dark to bother with that. But on turning around he could faintly see Shelby struggling with something big. He attempted to gesture to her to just put it down. But he wasn't sure she could even see his hands. There wasn't really time to waste. So instead of waiting for her to handle it herself, he went and grabbed at the large pot.
He fumbles a bit, grabbing the top rim with one hand and the bottom with the other. Carefully he guides the large pot down with Shelby's help. There's no time to put it back on the pedestal. Best to leave it on the ground and hope they don't check for prints. It's a bit much to ask for but it's all they can really do. In the near none existent light of the dim hallway Alex gestures for her to follow again.
The exit is close, the emergency lit sign over the door is bright enough to see around the corner of the long hallway. Almost there, all they need to do now is take the steps and they'd be home free.

"No I don't work here, I just visit sometimes. I need to learn control."
Ah, that made sense. So the woman was a mutant who didn't have complete control of her powers. He had to wonder what they were. She didn't seem the dangerous or violent type, the kind usually associated with the more destructive mutations. Though that was all stereotype to be honest. But hopefully it wasn't a power like spontaneous combustion or lazer eyes or something like that. It might just be a power that makes her everyday life difficult.
"Been here long?"
"No, not really. A couple months maybe. It's been weird."he murmured picking up the remote that was slid towards him. He flipped through the channels absently before landing on a nature documentary. A bit nerdy but he wasn't exactly ready for regular tv at the moment. Apparently even in the last three years there's been a big leap in how shows were done and he just couldn't keep up when he tried. So for now he stuck with what he knew.
He ate a spoonful of the sugary cereal and nodded when she mentioned that she lived across town. "Never been. Good place to live?"he asked, if only because he felt obligated to keep the conversation up.

"I got some cleaning to do, you could help with that. Assuming your over sixteen. I don't want some off duty cop riding my a** after I decided to help you."
"I'm sixteen, not to worry. And if some off duty cop decides to question my presence I'm pretty sure I can handle it." Not like he hadn't before, to be honest cops were looking for excuses like everyone else to be lazy about their jobs. He seriously doubted an off duty cop was going to do little more than issue a warning. And with this being a temporary thing, he doubted it'd be too much trouble for Randy.

He blinked at the comment about the weather, looking from the woman to the windows to the tv and back again. "No kidding, hate the snow..."he sighed setting his bowl down on the coffee table to wrestle his blanket into place. Once comfortably wrapped up he picked up the bowl again, spoon in mouth when the woman mentioned her name. "Alex."he mumbled around the mouthful. "Do you work here?"he asked.
Most of the adult he had met so far worked in the mansion in some capacity. There was the teaching staff, people like Miss T who helped with the legal stuff, and so on. He knew Mirror and some others also worked with the police and there was a place in the basement that he wasn't allowed to go to. Not yet at least. He still had yet to properly scout out the entire place. The exterior was easy enough, being that it was all open. But there were a lot of halls, bedrooms, offices, and spaces that he might not of thought of. He made a mental note to send some bugs to explore the vents later.

Alex was feeling antsy. Well no antsy was too calm a word. Trapped more like it, yeah that was a better word. In all honestly waking up to inches and inches of snow was not something that he wanted. He knew he was perfectly safe inside the heated mansion. But past experiences with snow hadn't been pleasant. His first instinct was to go, leave the state, and get to somewhere warmer. However, that wasn't exactly a viable option at the moment. It didn't look like any buses were going to be up and running. Besides that, he had a life here now. Couldn't really just up and leave, not again.
So, blanket wrapped he wondered about the mansion, trying to get rid of some of the nervous energy for the majority of the day. By the evening he ended up going to the kitchen, grabbing a bowl of cereal and heading for the living room. Hoping maybe some tv would distract him. He was surprised to find someone already there. "Uh, hi?"he murmured wondering over to the couch and sitting on the end farthest from the woman. He didn't recognize her face but then again, he had only been living here officially for a few months. There were lots of people he didn't know.

“Yeah, I do, I age shift. I'm oldah than I look.”
He didn't miss the eye twitch or the ting of annoyance in the kid's voice. No not a kid, this guy might very well be older than him if the age shifting thing was true. Which he didn't doubt. There were stranger things out there.
"Oh, dang, sorry."he apologized, doing it right away so he wouldn't get on the guy's bad side. After all it wouldn't do to make enemies if you're living in the same house. Plus he was willing to bet that the guy didn't have full control of the shift, meaning that it wouldn't be fair to tease him for it. "I'm Alex by the way, and you are?"he asked, sticking his hand out to shake Clyde's.

"You are welcome little mortal, if I stay here long enough I shall expect great things from you. What will you do with your power Alex? Now that you have this place at your back, and an education to further your ability?"
He watched Orochi clamber back to his perch and tilted his head at the question. "I actually never gave it any thought actually."he said, feet set to pacing. "Well as far as my powers go anyway. They've always just been a means to survival, a tool. It doesn't really have any practicality in modern life. But as for a career...No actually, I never really gave that any thought before either." He paused, hand on his chin in thought.
"I mean I never thought I'd get this far. I probably should have died before I ever got here. But now that I am here I've got no idea what to do..."he frowned, disappointed in his own lack of forward thinking. But that's what you got when you lived day to day. You never really got a chance to put any thought to bigger plans. He couldn't even remember what he might have wanted to be as a kid.
He glanced up at the dragon, a small smile playing on his lips. "Do you have any suggestions?"he asked curiously. Maybe a mighty god would know what his fate should be.
