Kealey was confused, now Shin was a little confused, but at least he wasn’t mad or impatient. Kealey hadn’t expected either of those emotions, but there was always the chance. Shin pulled back and looked at her, and Kealey looked back, serious but not frowning. He explained.

The more Shin talked, the worse Kealey felt. Why was she always finding these things out so late? Shin knew practically everything about her…and she never asked. Man, that was going to have to change. What must he think sometimes?

He’d been home to visit…after living in the US for quite some time and his cousin’s powers had manifested. It had felt like a good time to admit his own. It hadn’t worked out. Kealey still frowned at that, but Shin wasn’t bitter or angry…he was hopeful. She loved him even more for it. He was probably better than she would have been in that situation.

He wanted to talk to his father…before he changed his mind. Kealey was mad at his parents for him, but then realized she’d never known how her parents felt about her mutation. Maybe they’d have reacted similarly. She pushed her own bias aside. Shin was happy, she’d be happy for him.

His next statement made her smile and squeeze with the arm she’d wrapped around him earlier. He really wanted her to go. To go to Japan with him and meet his parents. ”Of course I’ll go with you. I never meant to make you think I’d stay behind. You’ll have to warn them about your ditzy, blond, Irish girlfriend though.” A thought struck Kealey and she frowned slightly.

”Shin. I don’t speak a word of Japanese.”

Shin said everything was fine, and Kealey nodded her head, even if he couldn’t see the motion. She really hadn’t meant to ask, but then again, Shin didn’t seem to mind answering. Sure, he was thinking out his answers, and sure that made Kealey a little nervous, but he didn’t seem to…wait.

She tilted her head slightly, eyebrows still drawn together as Shin smiled. He was so happy. But what he’d said…”They weren’t okay with it before?” Kealey felt sheepish suddenly, she’d never really asked much about Shin’s family, or how he‘d ended up in America. And wait…he could go home…home to Japan? Japan was a long ways away…Kealey ignored that for the moment and kept listening.

His sister had been working on his parents for a while…his dad was a mutant…Shin hadn’t known his dad was a mutant. All this family stuff, it was a lot for Kealey to take in. He was invited up for Christmas. He thought she should go. To Japan.

Kealey blinked and wrapped an answering arm around Shin, trying to process everything she’d just been told. ”That’s great news!” she said through her slightly confused haze of emotions. It was hard to be anything other than happy with how happy Shin was but still…

”I’m not sure I understand everything though…and you want me to go? Really?”

She’d wanted more, and Kealey got more. Her eyes mirrored the hamster as it grew, until they couldn’t open any wider. The nose popped out and the blond let out a small gasp. That clown was familiar. Blue eyes darted up to where she knew Shin was, then back down at the growing monstrosity in front of her.

It started to dance. Kealey shuddered.

She’d asked for more…and had definitely gotten more. The clown locked eyes with her. Kealey grimaced at its emotions, they were exactly what she’d imagined the Garo clown’s would be. The clown leaped into the air and Kealey pivoted to follow its motion, ready to put her novice self-defense skills to use if necessary.

Metal hit metal and the blond gasped when she saw Shin’s blade crossed with the bars the clown had picked up. When had he come down from the control room? Was he going to fight with her now? Would they defeat the clown together? A voice sounded through the speakers again, and Kealey frowned. That voice should have been coming from Shin…who was fighting the clown. Kealey’s eyes widened at about the same time the lights went out. They came back on a moment later, but it had been long enough for fear to blossom in Kealey’s chest, strong enough to nearly block out the emotions of the sick clown. The lights came back with a flood of emotion and Kealey’s wide eyes took in the scene with mottled disbelief and muted slight-horror.

There were so many Shin’s. With so many emotions.

The one who had crossed blades with the clown stepped back, and Kealey half-followed him. She was confused. There were so many conflicting emotions. She was supposed to stop the clown? Protect the Shin? All the Shins? They were all feeling so many things…it was a lot. A whole lot.

Kealey wanted to call out and put an end to the exercise before it even started. This was too much…how was she supposed to deal with this range of emotion, especially when it was all coming from Shin…or things that looked so much like him it almost made her stomach hurt.

The clown. The clown was there somewhere. Suddenly…Kealey remembered what it did…and the Shin’s started to react. Laughter started to fill the room, but it was a strange laughter, nearly hysterical in pitch. The holo-Shin’s started to fight each other. That’s what this clown did…he got people to fight each other…until they died.

Even if they weren’t real Shins…Kealey couldn’t let that happen.

All the clones were prancing around now. One hit another and burst out laughing, then continued to laugh when yet another pushed him down. They were a bundle of violence and glee. It made Kealey almost want to join in as much as it bothered her to watch.

She had to make it stop.

She surveyed the scene, a full-out emotion wipe was out of the question…there were simply too many Shins running around. The clown was there somewhere too, and Shin had said focus on him was the key. Kealey scanned the growing crowd with her eyes, how id a clown that size blend in so well in a room of clones? Fine she thought if eyes won’t work…

Kealey reached out with her mind, trying to feel the many little bubbles of emotion in the room. Some were gleeful, some were warm and fuzzy, some were absolutely blood curdling. So many emotions…

Kealey bushed over them all as fast as she could. There was one…sadistic, happy, powerful…it felt powerful, like it was running the show. Eyes that Kealey hadn’t realized she shut flew open and she struck out with her powers, muting everything but the happy. The last thing she needed was him getting mad…if it was actually the clown she’d managed to find.

OOC: Feel free to RP her having emotionally messed with one of the clones instead of the clown if you want to keep this simulation going for another post or so. Failing a bit would definitely be a good lesson.

So many things started happening at once. So many. Kealey held them all in check though, the panicked bystanders in the park weren’t so panicked anymore, and they were making an orderly, albeit quick, exit from the area. Perfect. That’s what she could do to help. Keep everyone calm.

Then Shin showed up. Kealey saw him approaching and couldn’t help but break out in a wide grin. She knew he’d been working with the police, but the thought that he’d be out in the middle of things hadn’t occurred to her. It was a pleasant surprise, and the rush of happy emotions he brought with him had her almost giddy. Especially when she added the fact that he’d flown in on a platform. In uniform. Kealey congratulated herself on being so darn lucky just about the time Shin reached her for the hug.

It hit her like a mini Mac Truck, and Kealey staggered back a couple of steps, returning it as Shin kissed her cheek and launched into a description of what exactly they were fighting."I'm glad you're here too." she said with a grin, trying to keep up with the explanation. It was…apparently…a Gundam? Shin’s tirade was of the quality she was used to when they were watching various television shows. This had to be something from there. Shin said something about suits and colors, something about soul metal…then he seemed to realize that the giant robot was trying to stomp people to death.

That jogged Kealey’s memory and she grasped at the straws of control she’d held a few moments prior. Luckily it wasn’t too hard to get them back and as Shin summoned a sword and ran off she mentally chided herself for being so easily distracted. Even if he had flown in and jumped off a mind-made platform in a police uniform. Kealey stole another glance…and her jaw dropped slightly.

”Alright…but I’m so making you new pants. Those pants aren’t decent for public!” she exclaimed, wondering exactly who had put her boyfriend in such pants and where she could find them.

The fight raged on and Kealey pulled her attention back to the task at hand, waiting for the Detective Shin had said was coming and doing her best to help the people fighting the robot. A tree had picked up its roots and was attempting to help the cause and it was a testament to Kealey’s time in New York that it didn’t surprise her in the least. There was also someone else vaguely familiar who seemed to be rushing in to help Shin at close range. It was a testament to her confidence in Shin that the blond wasn’t even worried.

Most of the people were in the clear now and Kealey slowly loosed her hold on them. They’d stay away now that the professionals were working on things. That done, she started looking for other things to do. First and foremost, any fear or trepidation from the people working against the machine was eliminated. They’d be operating at their best and most fearless. She left the caution alone…recklessness wouldn’t help anyone. Next, she stared at the robot, eyes slightly narrowed. It was a robot, right? Someone had to be controlling it.

”Just pretty awesome?” the blond said, quirking an eyebrow and pursing her lips with mock-disdain at the perceived misnomer for their awesome quotient. Kealey had to laugh though when Shin pointed out that they needed to be careful how sweet they were around other people. ”We wouldn’t want to do that, they’d stop wanting to be around us if they were always getting light headed tummy aches.”

She considered what she was saying, though, and frowned thoughtfully, ”Behind closed doors, though, I want all the sweet you can dole out. I’ve got a high sugar tolerance.”

Shin kissed her and Kealey kissed him back with a grin, wondering if he could steal something she gave him as easily as kisses. She didn’t bring it up though, Shin was so much happier than he’d been earlier, and mincing words was not something she wanted to do.

He pulled back, and Kealey tilted her head to the side as he laid out his qualifications for replacing her head plushie of security. He made a very good case and Kealey grinned broadly at his last statement, cheeks pinking up slightly at his flattery. Did he really think she was a treasure? She knew he did.

”You’re hired.” she said, picking up her cup and draining it before throwing it in her trash can.

Grinning archly, Kealey turned and flopped on her bed, ”Now. Get up here.” Happy Shin was happy. Bossy Kealey was bossy.

Somehow, Terezi could tell that Karkat was furious with her, no irate, no mmmmmm. She could smell the feelings coming from him, tell what they were. She wondered if she could get away with another lick. Just a small one.

Karkat stopped in front of her. Terezi almost ran into him. This close, she could see him clearly just by breathing. Was he going to rub it in that her senses seemed to be so off? He tipped her chin up. He said he hated her. Terezi knew better, and was going to say so. Then. He kissed her.

It lasted longer than she would have expected, and Terezi refused to be an inactive participant.

The kiss broke, and Terezi had to resist the urge to plot her hands on her hips. That wasn’t something she did. ”S33 YOU H4V3 SOM3 3XC3LL3NT L34D3R QU4L1T13S” she said with a grin. ”4ND YOU R34LLY DO SM3LL L1K3 C4NDY.”

He had been paying attention when she’d brought up Prospit.

”1 R3M3MB3R.” she said. Then they were out the door. Karkat quickly disposed of one of this planet’s sprites as he pointed out that they could see things on this planet…if it wasn’t rubbish.

It would be no Prospit…Terezi knew that. Still. ”K4RK4T 1 N3V3R KN3W YOU W3R3 SO ROM4NT1C.”

Then she heard it. The one voice that was always guaranteed to ruin her day. Vriska.

”WH4T 4R3 YOU DOI1NG H3R3? 4ND JOHN 1S W1TH US. 1’M S3ND1NG H1M ON 4 TR1P. BY TH3 W4Y, H4V3 YOU S33N D4V3? 1 DR3W H1M 4 P1CTURR3.” …at least she thought she had. Vriska sneered and crossed her arms, tossing her hair. It almost made Terezi furious, her grip tightened on Karkat’s arm.

“ uH … i dONT tHINK tHAT hUMAN iS hERE.”
Terezi peeked around Karkat, taking a deep breath.

”H3LLO T4VROS. YOUR L3GS 4R3 WORK1NG W3LL.”

She smiled at the others, especially Nepeta. ”HOW D1D YOU GUYS 3ND UP 1N TH1S WORLD. 1 THOUGHT 1T W4S JUST M3, JOHN, 4ND K4RK4T.”
