The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"I don't have one today," she admitted. "But I have plenty. California, remember?" she asked with a wink. She smiled at the question.
"People? Let's see...I met a dragon-mutant on my first day here, punched a guy in the face, destroyed some guy in a guitar battle at the park, met a butterfly shifter. Got a girlfriend, punched another guy in the face...and here we are! So yeah, I'd say interesting." She grinned. Then the thought hit her that maybe soon she should contact Butterfly. Yeah...that would be a good idea.
"No idea you had a car," Paige commented upon seeing it. "Though from what I've seen wouldn't it be faster to walk?" she joked. "Or I could shift into a skateboard or something."

Ugh...Rules. That was one area where Paige had a problem. But she'd be more apt to follow those, maybe. After all, she liked the idea of the mansion. "Yeah, especially considering it's a school where mutants reside and learn to use the gifts they have, rules do seem like they'd be a given," she said with a light chuckle as they began to walk.
"Pool just sealed the deal. Haven't been swimming since I got to New York, which was..three months ago." Honestly, she wasn't a huge fan of New York, but maybe now it would start growing on her. Aside from her having to punch rude people who bumped into her.

"Actually...it sounds like my kinda place," Paige replied with a smile. "Back in Cali, everything was usually quiet, so I always sorta found a love for random chaos and a knack for finding it." Okay, so she may or may not have been a troublemaker at heart. Then again, from the antics with the costume earlier, that was probably obvious.
As for explosions, Paige already had to deal with that on occasion. Thanks to living one floor below a certain moon-powered mutant who could produce explosives. Damn things tended to drown out her guitar...
"More mutants is always a plus. I'm practically sold already."

"Am I ever," she groaned, taking off the purple collared shirt, revealing a black and hot-pink low cut shirt. Slinging the uniform over her shoulder, she smirked. "I've learned to come prepared," she explained, looking at Maya with a somewhat crazy gleam in her eyes. "The khakis, I really can't do anything about, but I'll live. So, I've heard a little about this school, but what's it really like?" she asked, only really taking interest that same morning.

Finally!
Paige ran to the bathroom, quickly changing out of that accursed coffee cup costume, and back into her uniform, fixing her hair and trying to look as best she could after several hours of dancing around dressed up like a coffee cup that was way too happy...
Once finished there, she went to the back to clock out, where her coworkers got a good laugh. "Hey, Paige! I think you'd do better full time as the mascot. Stupid is a good look for you!" Laughter erupted. Paige turned and glared.
"I think you'd be more likeable with your jaw wired shut," she threatened, clenching a fist. Taking a deep breath, she hit the clock and rushed out the door. Sighing, the blond object-shifter leaned against the side of the building, looking for Maya. The sooner she could get away from this crap-fest, the better. She didn't even like coffee...

Paige nodded, which was pretty much the costume bowing a little. It looked even more ridiculous.
"I don't know about work, but I'll keep up whatever the hell it is I'm doing," she replied with a chuckle. "Look forward to it, actually." In truth, going to the mansion after work did look to be the highlight of her day. Now, the real game would begin. How many times would she not snap on someone before that time came?

Seattle. Another West Coast girl. Now that was nice. "So you have an idea of what I mean then. Nice," she replied. The blonde blinked, scratching the head of the coffee-costume.
"School? No, I can't say I have.Tell ya what though. I get off at 2:30. If you wanna meet me then we can swing by? I've sorta heard about it, and it sounds kinda like something I'd check out. Even though I swore I'd never go back to school after I graduated from High School." She gave a light shrug.

Paige chuckled, then looked at Maya when she asked the question. "Well, I'm not from around here. I caught alot of crap back in California for being a mutant, so I had my dad hook me up a place and a job, to keep the heat off of my family. My boss is a friend of his, so....here I am." She gave a shrug.
"It's money, it's a life, and there are alot more mutants here than there were back home. I still miss Cali, but I did what I had to." She sighed lightly, looking off into the distance as she remembered the old days. Her old friends. Though she really couldn't complain about the people she met here.

Paige gave a nod, which was unseen thanks to the bulk of the ridiculous costume. As was Paige's jaw dropping as the girl entered Paige's reflection, taking over. Okay...that was neat.
"Okay...that'simpressive," she mused with a low whistle. So as it turns out, standing on a street-corner in a stupid costume was much more interesting when there were mutants involved. And hey, it was attracting alot more business.

"Guilty as charged, she replied with a somewhat sadistic laugh. "At first, I though there wasn't much point in being able to shift into things like sporks and candles, but...there is a slight joy in it..." If she could have, she would have smiled.
In a similar process, the coffee cup stood up, coming back to life. Upon this, a handful of the gawkers and onlookers rushed inside for coffee. "Sadly, I won't be able to do that again for a few hours. Name's Paige. Hope you enjoyed your breakfast and a show."
Okay, maybe advertising wasn't so bad after all. In fact, spooking a crowd of New Yorkers and swamping her cover was well worth it. Her mood had brightened considerably, anyway.

"Not even close," Paige grumbled. "I basically work for peanuts," she added as she half-heartedly waved to the passers-by on the sidewalk. Of course, it being New York, she didn't get much of a response. Her green eyes glared out of the eye-holes in the coffee cup's pupils.
Suddenly, she got an evil idea, and turned to look at the girl. "Ya know...I bet I could get a reaction out of even these people," she whispered. What she was thinking was stupid. It was a horrible idea. But maybe...just maybe...
Slowly, the coffee cup started to go limp, the arms just idly hanging there as the legs shrank and the cup itself just hung there. Seconds later, the costume flopped to the ground, eliciting a few startled swears from the person who was right in front of her at the time.
"Hahaha...that made this all worthwhile..." Paige's voice rang out, though seemingly farther away. Inside the costume was a glass coffee mug, designed much like the costume itself, should Maya decide to take a peek and see what was going on.

Paige took the money and rang it up as her replacement took the counter. Sighing, she went to the closet and grabbed the costume. She made her way to the restroom, slipping into the monstrosity that she, thanks to the cruel hand of fate, was just the right size for. Soon, a giant, grinning coffee cup emerged from the restroom. The cup itself was brown, with Seven bands around it. Blue, Green, White, Orange, Red, Black, and Purple, the scheme their shirts were modeled after. Grumbling, she made her way to the street corner, swearing to God the things she'd do if anyone gave her trouble while she was in this thing.

Paige nodded, fixing a medium cup of coffee, then grabbing a fresh donut, drizzling the chocolate on it herself. "That'll be 3.71." She dug under the counter for the first aid kit, pulling out a few alcohol pads and some band-aids. Handing them to the girl, she shrugged.
"Sorry, this is all we have," she replied. Just then, someone came from behind the counter to talk to Paige, wearing a white shirt like everyone else. "Paige, the boss wants you to do advertising for awhile."
Great...not that...anything but that..."Fine. As soon as I finish with this customer..."

Paige blinked at the next customer, her green eyes narrowing a bit. But instead of answering with 'My ass,' like she wanted to, she cracked a smile. "I'd say eat the donut first. Straight black here, you can kiss your sense of taste goodbye," she said quietly so as not to let her manager hear.
"So that's one "Rocket Fuel"--no kidding that's what we call the plain roast with nothing in it, and one donut. What kind?" She jerked her thumb to the menu, one with the coffees, the other with the freshly made pastries. Anything under the sun, they had. 24/7. Yet Paige hated it here? The lovechild of Starbucks and Krispy Kreme, and Paige hated it.

Paige had been working at this god-forsaken coffee shop for two months, and she still didn't have the grasp of the uniform concept. Each day of the week had its own specific shirt color. And she still got confused. Well, everyone thought so, anyway. Why else would she be wearing Friday's bright purple collared shirt on Wednesday, when everyone was supposed to wear the white shirt? Surely no one would be crazy enough to do that on purpose.
Nonetheless, all the others scampering around at 7:30 in the morning were wearing white, while the one blonde behind the counter was wearing bright purple.
"I'm docking five bucks from your paycheck every time you break code," the owner had told her. Paige said nothing in response, but nodded and thinking Worth it.
Now, she was having trouble with someone in line. "This is exactly what you asked for. Medium cup, no sugar, no cream." "No. I asked for decaf" "Decaf? That's like kissing your sister, ain't it?" she muttered before fixing the order and sending the person on their way.
She rubbed her temples. This was going to be a long day...
"Okay, next. Welcome to Vinnie's Coffee House, how can I help you this morning?" She asked the next person in line. In his office, outside the line of vision, the manager gave a smile to himself. Finally, she did it properly, without asking "Okay what do you want?" Maybe she'd learn after all...
