The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

“I… uh… uh…” despite what she wanted to say, she wouldn’t. It would have looked extremely weird to suddenly ask for a full course meal, and likely even worse if she could begin eating something from the room. Despite her unquenchable appetite, she couldn’t appear weird, otherwise she would set her self up to be hated and disliked for everyone in the school. Having already had that experience before, she wasn’t exactly eager to continue that streak once.
“No, I’m fine…” she fidgeted a little more with her jacket, hoping that somewhere there was a candy bar, a can of soda, a pocket watch, something she could take a chance at eating perhaps and not have to play this waiting game. Waiting was horrible for Sophia, regardless of what the situation was, she would wait and her hunger would grow to epic proportions that would lead her to doing something she would later regret. So long as she was doing something physically or mentally, she could cope with it, being active could curb her hunger enough to keep her from noticing she was hungry. But for now, she had to wait for this head mistress to arrive in order to get this all taken care of, “Uh… this person, we’re waiting for? Are they coming?”
“Sophia… Pennamenos…” she spoke softly, as though it were a giant leap to speak her own name. This person seemed confident of himself, and much as she didn’t want to look at him and would rather keep her attention to the ground, she wished she were like him, confident enough to be able look someone else in the eyes when they talk to them. Confident enough to be around other people with out feeling as nervous as she did right now. Though that day might come, it wasn’t today.
Twisting and playing with the small nuts, bolts, and scraps of metal in her pocket, she finally clinched some and once again began chewing on them as she placed them one by one in to her mouth like popcorn kernels. She wasn’t sure if it was polite or not to eat, but she was hungry and couldn’t solve the hunger at all. Though when she reached back down again to get another hand full, her supply of nuts and bolts had dried up completely, leaving only pocket lint and tiny crumbs in her pocket. Panic in her mind began to set in, and her other hand quickly reach down to other pocket on her left side. No luck, a similar lack of any sort of metal in there either. She fiddled for a bit with her jacket, jiggling it a bit as though to try and find the one slight piece of weight with in it that hinted to the possibility of material or food being in there. No such luck. She looked around hastily, trying to see if there was anything near by to eat, but knowing that she couldn’t eat everything in sight, she hesitated to ask for anything right now. First impression were important, Sophia knew this to be well, and she didn’t want to appear needy at all, muchless take a bite out of a wall or near by table for fear of looking weird.
“um…. Actually…” though she had her hands and arms against her body, she twisted her palm to the strange individual before her. Slowly, but rather quickly in reality, something began poking through her hand. It was angular, straight, like it was a corner to something, slowly at first, but then quickly poking out of her hand. Soon the skin parted way just enough for a manila colored folder began to peer out of her hand. The folder’s corner led way to the rest of the folder, as a stack of papers were organized and filed with in them, quickly peering out of her hand and eventually coming straight out of hand completely. In a matter of brief second or two, the entire folder as finished popping out of Sophia’s hand and was now clenched in her hand instead. Not a trace of blood or even a drop of blood in her hand at all, it was as though it never happened to begin with.
“I… um… have these?” she present the folder of papers in her hand to the guy before her. Unknowingly, she had demonstrated her mutant powered, perhaps not initially realizing that she even had done it. Quickly passing the folder in to the opposite hand, she hid her hand, swinging it back in to her pocket and began playing with the nuts and bolts with in her coat’s pocket.
Even though he had invited her inside, Sophia turned around behind her to see if anything was there. The nervousness in her wasn’t passing at all, if anything, as soon as she was welcomed inside, she seemed to get even more nervous. Shifty eyes, nervous twitch, it was as though she didn’t want to go in at all, but she actually did. Though she stepped inside willingly, her eyes continued to shift around, constantly searching for anything that might be out of place. I loose cord, a weird painting, a flying monkey from god knows where, anything that might come and suddenly get her. Jumpy might have not been the correct term, but shy and nervous would have been better.
Compulsively, she reached in to her pocket, grabbing a small hand full of metal scraps and planting either a bolt, screw, washer, or even plate of metal in to her mouth and crunching down on to it as she looked around. Once everything seemed fine, she lowered her eyes back on to the ground, waiting for what ever was suppose to happen to get started. She wasn’t sure if she was suppose to meet someone, go to a particular room, or what exactly she was suppose to present to explain who she was or what she was doing there.
Sophia’s head had turned aside when the door opened, and when she pulled her face to see who it was, she might as well looked just like a deer staring back at the headlights of an oncoming car. While she stood still for a moment, she continued to chew, with a large grinding noise of metal pieces of nuts and bolts as the food, looking in on this otherwise sweaty person standing before her with little more than a confused look on his own face.
“uh… uh…” she began, obviously nervous as hell as she quickly pulled her arms in front of her body and looked back toward the ground. It was odd why this six foot tall girl would suddenly act so shy and weak when she had just been doing a feat that very few other people would probably ever be able to do, chewing metal that is. Her voice cracked slightly, as her continuous attempt to formulate a greeting was slowly coming together.
“Uh… I… um...” she closed her eyes and tried it again, this time concentrating on the words she wanted to say,” … I… Hi. I’m suppose to be new to the school?”
The Mid summer leaves brushed against each other, scratching each other and singing as only the leaves of this New York country side. The drive way up to a prestigious school seemed marginalized by feeling of one girl walking up it. Granted, she appeared like a woman, easily six feet tall and short blonde hair, but she was mentally as strong as a small little girl. This weak and fragile woman was unknown to the world, and she even preferred to stay unknown, but if she was unlucky, the world would one day know the name of Sophia.
She did seem a bit odd from a distance: cloaked in a long military style trench coat, underneath might have been a polar opposite, as she appeared in a long, purple floral skirt and simple light blue spaghetti strap top. Slowly and rather nervously, the young woman crawled up this long drive way up on to the main ground of this seamlessly innocent looking private academy. There was some kind of old fashion western feel to her perhaps, this woman nervously walking up to this hour with out a even a bag in her hands or over her shoulder. Though one thing this slender looking woman did have her hand stretched deep down in to her pocket, and pulling out what appeared to be scraps of some sort of metal item; chewing on the various metal bolts and nuts as though they were potato chips.
Looking around, the school was huge, much bigger than she had originally expected it to be, and she seemed quite like a fish out of water. She approached the front door way, knocking on the door and hoping whom ever appeared on the other side, would see Sophia, and perhaps, welcome her home.
