The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

So as to not ruin "Ops Security" but just to let everyone know on MRO about what is going on, I will be going on a long cruise in the coming future with the Navy.
We will have access to the Internet during deployment, but I do not know well it will work/ what my hours will be like/ pretty much everything, because I have never been on a deployment before.
Anyways, I will probably be spotty at posting at best. However, we will see.
As before, Shade followed the clues with his eyes as the observant mutant explained the clues that the he had missed. The woman was able to pick up on the smallest details: the overused necklace, the boy's shy smile, the girl's sad demeanor. It was incredible. However, the blond acted like it was something that she had seen a hundred times over, like a movie which she already knew the ending to. But if everything was a clue, Shade could use them on the woman in front of him just as she could use them against him.
"Well if that is the case," Shade said, pointing over Evelyn's right shoulder at her handler. "You were sitting with him before I came in, right? Then that guy must be your boyfriend. Because he keeps peeking over his magazine and leering me. Does he jealous easily? He is tense, jaw set, hands gripping the magazine a little harder than needed." The shadow mutant asked, adding fake innocence into his words, before peeking from around the blond haired mutant and giving him a small wave. Shade chuckled softly at the man's reaction before straightening himself back in his chair. His eyes coming back to rest on Evelyn's.
"Oh wait, I got it! He is another random killer that you are trying to council." The shadow mutant stated, his voice heavy his sarcasm.
"Please, tell me the last one is right." He finished, chuckling slightly at his own joke
About half a mile or so away from the pre-destined location that he had not-so-gently lifted from Xavia's ex-makeup artist, Shade stepped off of Xavia's motorcycle and stashed it down a dark alley. After several 'jumps' through the dark, the invisible shadow mutant was able to catch sight of the "lab". In reality, it looked more like a mixture between a massive greenhouse and a prison.
Razor wire was wrapped around the top of the outside fence, which had long, old vines were intertwined through it. The greenhouse was a massive dome constructed from reinforced glass and steel beams. An attached building had iron barrels over the windows and heavy steel doors. Finally, Shade could see several video cameras that were mounted over the major entrances. Well, it was good thing that Shade did not have to use doors- and not visible in the dark.
Knowing he might have a difficult search ahead of him, the shadow mutant took his time watching for any addition security around the greenhouse. Deciding that the main greenhouse was his best bet for finding Xavia (she was a plant mutant), Shade made a few calculated 'jumps' before he managed to make inside the dense jungle that grew in the humid environment inside the dome. Peeking through the forage, the shadow mutant searched silently for the missing singer.
Shade did roll his eyes at the woman's comment, not as kind to restrict his appearance as black haired beauty across from him. It was table. Nothing more. Sapphire acted like the little coffee shop was her personal domain, like she was the queen of the shop and everyone inside were her servants. Well, Shade was nobody's servant.
Her next words sounded almost like a challenge, or was that a rejection? Shade's mind could not really distinguish between the two. The shadow mutant had half a mind to jump across the table and show her how much more they could have in common, like how they now both had her blood of their hands, especially since she had that stupid, annoying grin on her face. Shade's eyes narrowed in anger while his other features remained unreadable. However, he managed to calm himself by remembering why he was here. Relaxing enough to put a charming smile on his face, Shade chuckled to himself as he changed his approach.
"Look, I think you are getting the wrong idea. You obviously have skills in the dark and so do I. So how about we...work together?" Shade replied, amazed the last words were actually able to escape his lips.
Although Shade may have secretly been analyzing Evelyn in his head in a way comparable to the way she was analying his predatory behavior, he thought it might be better to start with someone a little more practical- and a lot easier for that matter. As the blond haired woman abliged him to try his skills of observation, the shadow mutant removed his eyes from hers before pointing at the teen that was desperately trying to get the cashier's number. Even a blind man could have seen what the boy was up to. As a customer left the line, the boy stepped up to the counter, leaning against it as he talked softly to the girl behind the counter.
"That is the third time that guy has approached the counter So either he really likes coffee or he is interested in the girl. He is leaning against the counter, meaning he wants to get closer to the cashier. The way he is smiling, his eye contact, the softness of his voice- it all suggests that he is trying to woe the lass." Shade stated, his eyes catching the small details without much trouble. The scene was rather easy for anyone in the crowd to read.
"However," Shade continued, shifting his gaze to the cashier. "The woman is not going for it. Her body position is upright, slightly leaning back, suggesting she wants to be further away from the boy. Her head is lowly shaking back and forth, her arm are out in front of her, meaning she wants to push him away. She is definitely not interested."
The shadow mutant finished before focusing back on the woman in front of him with a playful smile on his face. He was enjoying this little game, almost like girls enjoy gossiping about others behind their backs. Only they did not know their victims, the two human observers had only clues that revealed the secrets of the people around them.
The shadow mutant only had to wait for two minutes before he heard the high pitch whine of a bike engine over the sounds of the lapping of the nearby water. Off in the darkness, Shade caught sight of the unmistakable single light of a motorcycle as the once-charming man sped towards the river. And Shade. Preparing himself for the confrontation, the Orderling withdrew a black blade as the man on the motorcycle made his way to a nearby dock.
Shade took one 'jump' to get close enough to the dock. However, the lights from nearby lamp posts stopped the invisible mutant from being able to get too close. It appeared that the man was going to drive the super powered bike off the end of the dock. A single lamppost at the end of the dock, used for night fishing, kept Shade's skills from being able to 'jump' in front of the bike. So the shadow mutant's only option was to run across almost 25 yards of lighted ground before he would reach the man. It was a very risky move, but Shade had a vendetta against the man before him.
Taking the opportunity when the deceiving man dismounted the bike, the silent shadow ran as quietly as he could. However, the rickety boards instantly gave away Shade's presence. As the man whirled to look at the sudden noise, his hand instantly went to his hip. Gun! Shade's mind shouted at him as he whipped the blade towards his victim. The man ducked away from the wildly thrown dagger, still drawing his gun. However, as he pulled it up to fire, the shadow mutant barreled into him.
BANG! A shot rang out as the bullet smashed into the dock below, missing both parties. It then turned into a wrestling match for control of the firearm. Shade tries to sidestep the man off-balance, but he countered with a blow to Shade's face. Stars appeared in the shadow mutant's but he refused to loosen his grip on the firearm, knowing that meant certain death.
BANG! BANG! Two more shots were fired as they wrestled, but they struck nothing but water. Twisting at the man's fingers seemed useless, his grip was too strong. So Shade resorted to elbow and knee strikes. However, he got his foot suddenly crushed when the man stepped on his foot. Off balance, the shadow mutant dragged the larger man down as he fell to the deck.
BANG! Another shot went off as they landed. However, this one miraculously smashed into the lone light on the end of the dock. Darkness invaded the space in an instant and Shade winked out of sight. Scrambling out of the way, the shadow mutant took cover behind the bike as he knew he had an advantage now. However, the man still had the gun. Unable to see the anything, the man started firing blindly.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
"Show yourself!" The man screamed as a nearby board creaked.
BANG! BANG! BANG! The man fired at the sound made by no man. Another board creaked.
"BANG! BANG! BANG! He fired again at nothing.\
Creak!BANG! BANG! Click! Click! A look of horror passed over the man's face as he released he had expended all his ammunition.
"I think you are out." Shade's raspy voice said as he stood up from behind the motorcycle, and the man realizing too late that he was shooting in the wrong direction. Not wanting to accept his death, the man reached for his knife in his boot. However, he was stopped when a blade slammed into his shoulder. He staggered back two steps, groaning in protest. Another knife thrown by the invisible mutant flew into his other shoulder. The man's groans turned to a shout and pleas for mercy as he stagger back another couple of steps.
"Please...please...don't kill me...don't kill me..." The man begged, cowering in submission. Fifteen seconds passed with all the creaking boards responding to the man's pleas. Thinking the invisible mutant might have actually left him alive, the man began to straighten up.
"Boo!" Shade whispered in the man's ear, giving him a fright. The man's yelp taking a step back- off the edge of the dock. He's last yell was cut short as he vanished beneath the waves.
With a smirk on his face, the shadow mutant mounted the bike and spun it around before speeding off down the dock and off into the darkness, heading to the address marked on the piece of paper in his pocket.
The shadow mutant turned to target of their little game while the little detective did her thing. She gave Shade a broad description before running through the multitude of observations that she had used to draw her conclusion. As she named off each feature, the night stalker took note of each detail as she listed them. Shade had to take her word for it on some of the observations. Obviously, she had better than him, at least in the light. Of course, that was probably due to his physical mutation which she had so piercisely described.
Shade chuckled as the blond haired beauty finished. It was fantastic to watch her pick apart a person with words, like Shade would have picked apart a person with his knife. Maybe, that was why he was find her so entertaining, her attention to detail. Details were everything when stealth was involved. One mistake could mean death. Details were the difference between life and death.
"Well done! I feel like I could almost follow you there." Shade exclaimed, returning his icy gaze to the woman across the table from him.
"Do you mind if I give it a try?" The shadow mutant asked, his eyes already darting around the cafe to find a potential victim as he licked his lips as if he were hungry. However, as he searched, another thought envaded his mind concerning the only person in the cafeteria that he was not eyeballing, Evelyn.
With her talents, the blond should have been rather wealth. And although she did not appear to be poor, the observant mutant did not to be incredibly rich either. With her abilities, she could have been running the tables in Las Vegas or the stocks on Wall Street. However, she was here, in a small coffee shop in the middle of Manhattan, on a work day. So that could only mean that she rode the moral high ground by not using her ability to gain such advantages, or she was embarrassed by it, only revealing her ability when she...how had she put in...wanted "closer anaylsis". But why would she be embarrassed?
Shade's eyes traveled back to the blond before him as the question rang in his head. His facial features had turned serious for moment when he had lost himself in thought. However, he broke out his smile again as he waited for an answer from the woman before him, a smile that did not quite make it all the way up to his eyes.
(OOC: That turned out a little longer than I had planned at first. I was thinking about analysing the cashier woman/ teen flirting with her if you did not suggest anyone in particular. Let me know if you have any thoughts about the thread.)
Without any help, of any other X-men freak, I knew in that moment it must be Silver Streak. More rapid than eagles across the grounds he came, Separating, and shouting, and taunting me by name!
Shade wondered for a moment just how long he would have to put up this little charade. Of course, he did not want to seriously hurt Kaitlyn. He might need her later, to do more little tasks for him that he could not accomplish without some help. Lucky for the shadowy mutant, the goody-two-shoes of an X-men clad in silver arrived shortly. Shade's face turned into a snarl at the sight of Silver Streak. He had dealt with this little prick too often and to think that his plans had to include him made the night stalker a little less pleasant, but it would be nice to take out of his frustration out on the guy.
The X-men tried to antagonize him with a snippy comment, but it seemed Kaitlyn was playing her part as "security kid", because it was her that answered him. Shade was content to stalk back and forth, his cloak sweeping behind him as if sizing up his prey. The shadow mutant wondered if the silvery mutant had developed his skills any further since the last time they had tangoed directly. Although Shade would have loved to rip out the throat of the X-men before him, he needed him for a different purpose, but that did not mean they could have a little fun first.
"Little girl, why don't you run along while I carve up your friend here?" Shade countered, his gaze sneaking around Silver Streak to the redhead behind him.
"I'd hate for you to be the next X-men I kill." He added, smiling to himself at the memory. Shade wondered if the man before him remembered the incident from Mondragon Labs. Hopefully, Silver Streak would react emotionally, something Shade could to use to his advantage as he had a much bigger plan afoot than a simple knife fight.
The blond's explaination of how she knew he was a killer was entertaining, and Shade laughed outright at her obversations. She made everything sound so...simple. Since certain characteristics were present, the conclusion was all but obvious, at least to her. There was no doubt. No second guessing required. Everything she witnessed was fact in her eyes.
"Wow, I must say, you have a gift." Shade said softly, maybe somewhat sarcasticly. However, Evelyn's display of her mutation (which the night stalker confused with confidence in her ability) caused the shadow mutant to want to see more examples of her skills. Glancing around the small coffee shop, Shade pointed at the patron who was tapping away at the typewriter in front of him.
"Do him next." He said before catching himself.
"If you don't mind." Shade added as his face spread into a grin. This was turning out to be a very interesting morning. The grugginess that he had felt this morning was nowhere to be found now. The show that the blond-haired woman was putting on had eliminated any feelings of tireness that he might have had before.
It was somewhat unnerving for a person to point out the little clues that revealed unspoken secrets about one's self. And it caused Shade unconsciously to draw back into his shell. His shoulder hunched forward slightly and his hands drew closer. However, this woman was also most intriguing, and Shade's telling eyes brightened at her observations. She was like one of those private investigators that got off at discovering the deepest secrets of others, maybe not the activist like he had first thought. The main reason the shadow mutant took an interest in this...weird woman was that if she could discover the small details that gave Shade away to an opponent, then he could use the information to better mask his presence.
His genetic condition was something one could easily look up, or she might have been a medical student. His uncomfort on entering the coffee shop and lack of knowledge upon drink selection could have easily been detected by everyone in the store. However, how had she known that he used knives.
"Knife person? What gave it away?" Shade asked, glancing down at his hands. They were calcited and scarred from their continuous use. It would make sense if she had already thought he was a killer.
"Aw, my hands." The shadow mutant said, replying to his own question as he revealed the rough skin of his palms. But what about being a murderer? What had caused her to immediately jump to Shade most special of profession?
"Okay, so why do you think I am a killer?" Shade asked, leaning forward slightly, his uneasiness at her prodding having disappeared. Instead, he was finding this conversation very interesting. Much intersting then his coffee that he had all but forgotten about.
While Shade was watching a nearby couple flirt with each other while being absolutely oblivious to the rest of the world, the strikingly white haired woman managed to walk across the small cafe and seat herself across from the shadow mutant. A look of slight surprise passed over Shade's face at her presence, but it quickly vanished beneath the evil smirk that crossed his face at her first choice of words.
"Do you make a habit of approaching random men, or just when the opportunity arises?" Shade asked, echoing the words of the fair skinned woman across from him and avoiding the young woman's question.
He found the woman perplexedly interesting. She seemed to Shade like a delicate white flower. Her skin, her face, and her attire, everything appeared in order, down to the small details. And yet, this delicate flower who cared enough about her appearance to have every detail in order was willing to risk her life by approaching who she believed to be a murderer. Obviously, this woman was some kind of activist of some sort.
(OOC: I hope that is enough. I kind of died out at the end there.)
It seemed everything was going well outside. There was not much shooting going on anymore. Mostly, they seemed to be searching for either Shade or his winged partner. With money in hand, it was time for Shade to make his get-a-way. Pulling the bags of money tighter against his person, the shadow mutant 'jumped' out of the van into a nearby shadow. With the extra baggage, it took Shade a couple more 'jumps' than normal to reach the rendezvous location.
As soon as the shadow stalker's feet hit the rocky gravel on the roof, Shade released the heavy load that he was carrying. The bags landed in a pile with a heavy thud! Searching the area quickly, the shadow mutant quickly discovered that his winged partner was not present. Maybe he had bailed when he had finished destroying the remaining lights, being too scared to face Shade again.
Oh well, more money for me. The Orderling thought to himself. However, a distant shout broke through his thoughts. Shade could not understand what it had said, but he could see the large feathery wings of his partner being spotlighted by a light had was sure to have a gun attached to it.
Without the heavy bags, it took Shade two 'jump's to make it to the roof with the gunmen and his partner. Orientating himself once he was on the roof, the shadow mutant silently positioned himself behind one of the gunmen.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Three shots rang out from close range. However, the bullets did not rip into the delicate wings of the gryphon mutant. Instead, the bullets tore into the chest of the other gunmen. The shot gunmen stumbled for a moment before collapsing in a bloody mess. The other gunmen appeared unaware that he had shot his partner until he fell to his knees before collapsing and folding onto his back.
" 'You okay?" Shade's asked, his voice floating out from behind the dead bodies.
Shade was distracted by his drink selection to notice the twitching eyes of observant mutant as they darted over his features, carefully analyzing them against her massive library of facts stuffed into her brain. However, after receiving his "Soy Caramel Macchiato with whipped cream and a double shot of espresso", paying eight dollars for his ridiculous drink and taking a seat against the coffee shop from the other white haired mutant in the restaurant, Shade's eyes traveled around the small establishment until they again locked with the young woman's. She quickly averted her gaze but returned shortly before moving away again as she caught Shade's unmoved eyesight.
Shrugging slightly, the shadow mutant returned to his steaming drink. The woman appeared uncomfortable which was a natural reaction around the death dealing mutant. Swirling the contains of his coffee, Shade took a sip, only to burn the tip of his tongue in the process. Coughing slightly at the experience, the shadow stalker quickly grabbed a napkin, bringing it to his mouth to remove the sprinkles of coffee that had covered his face, sweater, and table.
After cleaning himself up, Shade tried to take another slower drink from his beverage. He had to admit that it wasn't bad, and a lot better than anything in the Sanctuary's cafeteria. Nodding approvingly, the shadow mutant replaced his drink on the table as he looked around the coffee shop once more.
