The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

The fight ended fairly fast once things were down to one mutant, and Tses let the stranger take over at that point. She was all for helping create a fair fight, but no use taking a dog’s bone. She didn’t need to know what started it. She just leaned against a wall and waited for it to end.
The backpack, whatever had been in it, and an alleged ‘payday’ all went in the dumpster. Tses nodded at the thanks and finally pushed away from the bricks she had used as a backrest. ”You weren’t doing shabby on your own, all things considered. You fight professionally?” She was curious. More than that, she had ideas. Chrys has tasked her to keep an eye out for mutants the syndicate could use. A teleporter, and a thief, were always good things to keep on your payroll.
Tses wasn’t jumping to bringing just anyone to the Atlantis, however. She had met some strong mutants, but that didn’t mean they had the decision making skills necessary to be of use. If she was going to throw a name out there, she wanted to make sure it was a good one.
Tses watched the other mutant fight, impressed enough by what she saw. Given the situation, they had held their own. Sometimes losing in a numbers game sucked. Tses was more annoyed than ever they chose tactics like this.
"I can handle invisible, if you can clear out for a moment," Tses hoped her companion would listen, but didn't wait. Quickly forming two handfuls of tiny explosives, she threw them in all directions, letting the tiny pops fill the alley with noise. Tses melted back into moonlight as the laser eyes flashed their way. Then she heard yelps and curses, and took a run that way.
"Marco..." She muttered, and then solidified her fist, letting it connect with something that sounded like ribs. The figure flashed visible for a second then vanished again, but it was enough. She slammed a fist into the side of a head, and they collapsed on the ground.
Chrys ordered a drink, and Tses was relieved it was one should could manage. Having to pause and ask for help would have put a damper on things, especially when Tses tried so hard to keep Chrys happy. While she worked, Chrys spoke, and Tses considered what was being said.
"Surprised? I mean, you owned the store I tried to steal from. I guess I knew you were involved pretty deep in something, but the actual organization is maybe what I might not have expected? I mean, I would have thought you would steal better if that were the case," Tses risked teasing Chrys, given that the domino mask had come up, and heck, that situation had been a bit comical. Chrys was not all cool and collected when they had first met. Heck, those days they were both a bit of a hot mess.
Tses handed her the drink, a lingering smile on her mouth. "I guess the flip side is you knew I was a delinquent, but not that I could listen to orders so well. I just needed someone I wanted to listen to."
It had been a while since Tses had listened to music, and frankly, she forgot how much she missed it. When you were legally declared dead, most of your belongings (okay, all of your belongings) tended to disappear. Tses hadn't exactly been rich, but the one or two CDs she had and the old CD player were sort of nostalgic.
Tonight, that was a problem she intended to fix.
Tses had just walked out the back of a music store, an MP3 player tucked in her pocket and headphones strung up to her ears. She couldn't turn much into moonlight with her, but thankfully, her new acquisition seemed to count more as 'clothing' and less as 'stolen goods'. She was learning more as time went on. Coffee cup? Couldn't get it through a wall. But MP3 player, cash, and wallets, those were fair game.
She was in the middle of looking for a new song when a commotion caught her attention, and she found herself wandering, quite literally, into a fight. A blond haired mutant was on the defensive, and several other mutants were approaching.
The green glowing blond ended up somewhere between the groups, and paused, facing the larger pack.
"Now, I may not be good at math, but this doesn't look like a fair fight to me..." She slowly pulled her headphones out, and crossed her arms, looking at the strangers.
"Get out of the way b*** if you know what's good for you!"
Tses blinked with a bored look, and sighed. "Did your parents ever teach you not to call names?"
"What, you want to teach me some manners? Does that hurt your feelings ghosty?"
Tses took several fast strides forward, dove through the man, and solidified on the other side. "Words hurt, asshat." She slammed a fist into the back of his head, and then turned back into light before retaliation could come. Suddenly, the attention was on her, but she didn't mind.
They wanted to pick on someone? She would give them a fight to remember.
Tses handed the knife over, handle first. Despite their lack of clear friendship, Tses didn't consider the woman an enemy. She had put in the effort to help her, after all. She just knew to keep a distance with someone so unclear.
The research part, that she could at least help with.
"We have a library just around the corner here. They should have a computer you can use, and plenty of books if you want to go that route. And it's free." They got to the street level, and Tses took the lead. She knew the city well enough by now, and the library she remembered from the riots so many years ago. Heck, she had tried destroying that library. Not that it ended well. Some ice mutant had stopped her in the end.
Outside the building, Tses paused, "Sorry I can't be more help right now. But if you get things figured out, who knows, we may bump into each other again." With that, she walked through the nearest building and disappeared just as easily as she had arrived.
Tses sort of liked how quickly this girl caught up with things. She didn't have to argue the morality of stolen goods or anything. That made it easier. Heck, it almost made it fun. "I survived my whole life without rules. Heck, it's not even about power, sometimes it's just about being faster than the other guy. Even before I could walk through walls, people didn't care. People just don't like getting involved these days."
The girl paid. Which wasn't unusual. A lot of thieves just stole money and never actually took goods. Or, they found some way to earn money, and then that paid for the rest. The girl didn't seem like a thief, actually, more like someone who just wanted to have more freedom. Actually, Tses didn't even need to steal now that she was with Chrys. It was just sort of habit? For fun? Her brain was considering this a lot more than normal, honestly.
"I do whatever comes to mind, honestly. Once I took a car for a joyride, I crashed a wedding, I went to the museum and tilted all the pictures so the staff had to realign them. Oh, I've dropped little explosives into people's purses from the roof, that's always fun. Just, whatever comes to mind."
Tses turned to the girl, and cross her arms. "If you could walk through walls, what would be the first idea that would come to mind?"
Tses had hoped the kid could keep his mouth shut. Heck, she even hoped he could stay where it was safe. But that all seemed to be a short lived wish when the little punk opened his mouth and had the nerve to sass her.
Tses sighed to herself, and didn't even flinch when he pushed her out of the way. Kid's gotta learn. Tses wasn't going to get herself into trouble on account of some random brat she met on the street. She almost turned to walk away, then paused when the first punch landed...It....went downhill from there.
It was a rather short lived battle, and it looked painful. Tses started forward against her better instinct when the kid cried out in pain and cursed, managing to awkwardly catch him when he was thrown her way. "For F*** sake." She quickly put him down on the concrete, strong, but not strong enough to go carting him away from this situation. Then she let green light spill from one arm to the other, facing down the taller mutant in front of her.
It was not a fight she could win by strength. Heck, running away would just leave the punk behind her to get pummeled more. Suddenly, memories of a man across a bartop came back to her. What had Chrys said? Someone found her big girl voice. She straightened, and tried to draw on how she felt that day.
Authoritative. Firm. Unyielding. "You are going to leave," she instructed. Her eyes turned green, and she felt energy rushing toward her eyes. The metal man froze midstep. Tses instructed again."You will leave us alone."
He seemed confused, disoriented. One step back, then the other. Finally, he turned and left the alley, disappearing into the night.
Tses let the energy fade from her body, feeling tired. She glanced behind her and walked to where the kid was. Gully? She wondered if that was his real name or just what he had on his face. There was a Doc at the mansion, but she wondered if he would even be the type to go there. What the heck did you do with a drunk kid who just picked a fight with a metal bolder?
((...it moves!!! Nice!!! Hope this post works, sorry took a little longer))

The kid could talk smack. Maybe it was a flaw of him being drunk? Drunk people tended to pick fights when they weren't always certain they could win them. Tses should have turned and walked away at the first sign of a tempter, but she didn't. She really should do a lot of things in life, but they didn't happen. This would just go into her book of 'should have, could have, didn't'.
Before anyone drew a punch, however, there was a yell from the edge of the alley, and Tses looked over. A rather beefy looking guy was coming toward them, and he didn't seem friendly.
"Are you two punks the ones who f****d with Lucian?" The man flexed, and metal rippled across skin like sheets of armor, clanking together. Dark eyes stared out, and a snarl was on his lips. "You look like the punk, alright. Think you can pop one off at someone in this neighborhood without running into trouble? You picked the wrong city."
Tses let out a small curse, but didn't go light form quite yet. She would save that party trick for the right moment. If this man thought she was in on this, it could be bad. She had her own reputation to be careful about. She shot one look at the teenager, and one back at the metal man coming close.r
"Hey, maybe we should take it easy before we start causing more problems. You sure you got the right kid?"
It probably didn't help having your name tattooed on your face. Sometimes, having a bit too much personality had it's downsides like that.
Tses has been focused on dealing with the threat, and when it was gone, she was finally able to notice Chrys. She quickly moved to meet her, and no one seemed to dare comment on it. ”It was implied I shouldn’t be the crap out of him,” Tses admitted, and felt a small blush cross her cheeks. She loved being praised. She clung to it and drank it up like an alchoholic beverage.
”Actually....never mind.” She wanted to talk more, but felt this may not be the time for it. She wanted to say something felt...off, about the encounter. Tses generally not someone people listened to without argument. She usually had to prove she had brawn to back up her mouth. Then there was the feeling: it was similar to the small sap of energy she felt when she walked through walls. Was it mutation related? Or just a fluke.
”Can I get you anything?” she offered. Maybe she should have said that first. Had she flubbed? She wondered if she should knew what Chrys wanted already, but even if she knew, she was still learning what went in most drinks. She heard some of these orders and her brain struggled to keep up. Were they actual drinks or just a collection of celebrity names and suggestive phrases?
Kids these days. Tses rolled her eyes, walking closer. The light went off but she knew her reflex time, and if he made a hit for her, she could phase him through to the other side. Even if she didn't want to do that, however, she had enough experience in her years to more than handle a good fight.
"You survive on the streets, you learn cheap tricks. Life doesn't follow a rule book." Tses waved away the cigarette. She wasn't a fan of the smell and wasn't certain Chrys would care for it either.
"If you don't hit girls, why does it matter what wall I'm walking through? I've been in this city longer than you've been alive, kid. I could easily watch it chew you up and spit you out without batting an eye."
Tses had the scars to prove her claims. While she used to cover most of her skin, there were enough areas of her arms now that had marks visible. She was lean, but strong, and moved like a cat as she circled him to one side. There was a difference between the cockiness she had when she was his age, and the controlled prowl she had now. Someone who knew how to move and act quickly was different than someone throwing fists and just hoping to make contact.
New York really just was a place where no one wanted to get involved if they didn’t have to be. Someone steals a coffee? Not their problem as long as they still got caffeine. Not that it was a corrupt city, exactly, but who wanted to take a risk stopping a mutant who obviously didn’t care about the law and could walk through walls?
None of these people, apparently.
Outside the store, Tses appeared next to the hungover woman and chuckled. ”Is there an all of the above option? The coffee was just something to entertain myself, rules are for chumps, and why have powers of you don’t do something eventful from time to time? What about you? You still accepted the pilfered goods. Obviously your concept of morality doesn’t extend past a need for liquid energy.”
The sidewalk wasn’t as crowded as it would be later in the day, which made it easy to stay near the girl without shoving anyone out of her way. Not that she really needed to continue talking to her, but the annoyance and general pain at existence sort of amused her.
There was a bit of pressure left by Chrys with the instructions to obey Willow. Tses felt this was one of the biggest hurdles to earning her place with the Syndicate. It was one thing to rest on her existing abilities, and another to rise to the challenge of gaining new skills. Plus, she was left to do all this outside her normal comfort of outfit. She needed to think of this as a mission, as serious as picking a lock, hacking a file. She spent enough time doing what she wanted, it was time to be serious.
The kiss left much to be wanted and Tses tried to keep her heart from lurching as Chrys left. Tses let her focus go to her trainer, and she was led back to be familiarized with the supplies.
The basics all felt like a lot to absorb. There were spirits and mixers, garnishes and flavors. The expectations on how much to pour, how to measure a pour, counting bubbles, counting shots. But Tses stayed focused. Willow had to correct her a few times when she reached for the wrong item ("Whisky, not rum", "that still needs more cola"), but after letting her try a few simple tasks herself, Willow seemed content with the progress.
As things got busier, there was more for Willow the handle, and Tses had to stay back further to keep out of the way. It was a bit inspiring to see how quickly she could accomplish things, all while having a smile on her face. Tses never used to like the idea of customer service. That fake, outward happiness just to make someone else feel good. Now, she was seeing a different side to it, a use for charm. Violence could give you one result, but a smile...you had power in that ability as well.
"Hey, why don't you stop standing around and pour a f***ing drink! Or are you too dumb to take orders?"
Willow hesitated with her current pour, and Tses felt a knife of anger sink into her throat. Do your best to smile. Tses could not smile to that insult. She would much rather punch him in his stupid nose and make him regret crossing her. Breathe. She needed to be able to handle this. How would Chrys handle such a situation?
"Are you too stupid to talk too? Get me a drink!"
A nearby patron tried to talk him down, but the man was belligerent. He took a swing at the other customer, and that was enough. Willow was about to step in, but Tses moved forward first.
She had an icy calm demeanor as she caught the man's eyes. Her irises were green, glowing on their own accord. He seemed to stop what he was doing, blinking, watching the light.
"That is enough," Tses said it in a calm but firm voice. How would Chrys act.... Her girlfriend was beautiful, but powerful. She expected obedience, she did not ask for it. Tses stood straight, and stared him down, never breaking eye contact. "You are ruining this experience for the other guests. You should leave now."
The man blinked, and stood, then walked toward the door and exited. There was no argument, no fighting. Just an odd calm. Tses was more than surprised, but she forced herself to turn, and moved to stand next to Willow again. The other woman had an odd expression on her face, as if trying to make sense of what she had seen. Tses thought it was just surprise from her not punching the man's lights out, not that this was the tip of a different iceberg her powers were reaching for.

Tses was learning that teenagers seemed to have short tempers. You walk up to them, and they are ready to take a swing at you. She would never act like that. Sarcasm heavily intended, of course.
"You can try to steal all you want, but you would be better saving your energy to stop that busted nose of yours, Tses remarked cooly. She let her body shift back to light form, so she was partially solid, and partially moonlight. She put one arm through the wall as if to prove a point.
"I have picked my fair share of bad fights, but even I know not to attack someone who walks through walls. And does it look like I'm judging? Hell, I'd throw you another drink if it would help with the headache you're going to have later." She was torn between amusement and pity. That was her usual demeanor though. Like a cat that wasn't quite sure if they wanted to stay or go, she walked a line between friend and enemy for most people. It depended on whether they fought first or not.
"So you pick: try to attack someone who can't be hit, or save some face."
((ooc: returning a very sloppy art, been working doubles all weekend, but didn't want to leave you hanging!))
Tses did not regret what she had done. Burning the wound closed had been messy, true. But letting him heal himself? Wouldn't that have just been going easy on him? "Take it as a warning. I am not cruel enough to let you bleed everywhere, but I'm not merciful enough to just let you make the wound vanish. There is only one person I listen to, and they aren't on this rooftop." Tses gave a little shrug. Who cared if her hands were metaphorically covered in someone's blood? This was just a game of chess, and she took the moves she felt were best at the time.
Lenna seemed to sense something, and took the chance to make their escape. Tses did not argue: she had been here by chance, after all. She had not tried to make enemies, but she also hadn't made friends. In the end, she hoped they would sense her side in this situation was far more neutral and that of an enemy. She aided Lenna this time. Who was to say the next round would not slide the other way?
As they walked, Tses looked at her, and shrugged. "I can't say we are close enough to really exchange names. Sort of a point of privacy in my life. If you need something, maybe let's just say Luna," Tses decided. It was not a name she would ever go by on a regular basis, but that made it better as an alias for now. Yes, it linked her to her light powers, and the moon, and all that cheesy nonsense. But Tses was a name that needed to stay dead, and Artemis was a name reserved for the Syndicate. Since this had been a rather messy exchange, distance was safer.
"And I helped for the time being, but I do think you may need to be careful what actions you are taking. I can't say I have perfect judgement: I make a lot of mistakes. But I also know a thing or two about getting the attention of the wrong people. I would find out why you had that card in the first place. I don't think you are in the most stable position right now." she advised.
