The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Hmm...I'm not sure who could impose something like that on Celeste. XD Do any of the mansion staff have any power over her? Perhaps they could persuade her. Or one of her mansion friends could somehow get her to do it (blackmail/bribery?).
Also, ah! I realize I abandoned this plot idea but, alas! I am back! And if anyone else is interested in this idea, please feel free to say so~

It was a quiet Monday evening, and both Alice and Kaitlyn were at their respective desks, doing their respective homework. Alice had a number of exams coming up that week, so she was trying her hardest to eliminate distraction. That meant avoiding idle chit chat with her roommate, ignoring her phone whenever it vibrated, and leaving all other forms of social media aside. In fact, she was so absorbed in her Biology homework that she nearly fell out of her seat when she heard a knocking at the door.
She tried not to get annoyed at the sudden intrusion and was grateful when Kaitlyn eagerly announced that she would get it. On the other side was a small blonde girl who looked to be around Kait’s age. Must be one of her friends, Alice thought, returning the wave and going back to her textbook.
She tried her best to ignore their discussion and concentrate on her homework, idly rolling her pencil between her fingers.

“Oh, uh, yeah, I live on campus at a gifted school just a bit away.”
She nodded, eyes widening just a bit. Liz must’ve been really smart if she went to such a school, though she seemed wholly nonchalant about it. A gifted school, huh? That was sort of funny, since Alice went to a “gifted” school too... She felt herself deflate a little at the reminder. Great, now Liz is going to find out I’m a mutant because I suck at lying...and she’s going to hate me for it. Or at the very least find her odd, perhaps even freakish. That was, at least, the reaction she usually got from non-mutants.
“What about you? You live nearby?”
Ah...and there was the cursed question... The fourteen-year-old took a deep breath before answering, until something conveniently came into view and―
“Whoa! Is that the ice cream place?” she asked, only half-feigning excitement. The old-style parlor had an inviting aura, beckoning the two girls to enter the store. Alice hurried alongside Liz, “forgetting” to answer the hanging question in favor of heading into Jen and Berry’s.
“It’s cool that you know the city so well. I’ve only been here a month, and honestly, I’m scared to go anywhere in case I get lost,” she said with a sheepish smile, holding the door open for her companion. Inside there were only a few people, along with the kindly, older matron behind the counter, the late afternoon commonly a slow time of business.
“I mean, I like it here, but it’s sooo different from San Francisco.” It was safe to reveal where she was from, right? Or was she getting too personal again? Alice wasn’t sure where the lines were anymore.

"Thank you. I will wear the heart proudly as the manliest of men!"
Alice couldn’t hold back her giggles, taking care to remove the paint brush from her teacher’s face before she slathered magenta all over his eyeballs in the middle of her laughing fit. When she was finished, she moved on to his forehead, using a cyan shade to color in a star-shaped pattern. As she painted safely away from his mouth, Mr. Holloway spoke.
"Really though, it ain't easy joining a school so late, so if you need any help with anything, you're certainly welcome to come to me or Mama T, or one of the other staffers here."
“Thank you,” she said, once again grateful for her teacher’s consideration. “But...um, who is Mama T?” she asked, unfamiliar with the moniker. It was likely she had come across “Mama T” at some point during the past few days but had simply forgotten in the craziness of settling in. It didn't help how horrible she was at remembering names.

Ted shook her hand and commiserated over the size of the mansion and how easy it was to get lost in its vastness. She smiled knowingly and nodded. She couldn’t count how many times she’d gotten lost either, and she hadn’t even been at the school for that long.
"I've been here about three years now. Going to school and trying to learn more about my powers the whole time. Unfortunately I'm not sure how much I've learned about it."
“Ah, I see,” Alice replied, “That’s pretty much why I’m here too. To learn how to control my mutation...” It was not the most heartening topic, but it seemed to be a common theme among the mansion students, particularly those with deadlier mutations. “But you feel like you haven’t learned that much?” she asked, a little worried. Whilst Toby had had a great experience at Xavier’s and had gained much control over his mutation, it seemed the same could not be said for Ted. “Why’s that?” And would that happen to her? That lack of progress?

Drugs? M? Alice shook her head at the query, cocking her head in even deeper confusion. She listened intently as Kaitlyn described the drug, how it was supposed to help mutantkind. The brunette did not know much about mutant-human relations, other than that they were pretty dour, but what her roommate was saying kind of made sense to her, however much it oversimplified what was likely a much more complex situation. She wasn’t sure if she particularly approved of the drug, though. Who would want the ability to poison people? Or burn them? Or hurt them in any other way? Sure, there were some “cool” mutations, but there were plenty of destructive ones too. But...she supposed that was besides the point Kaitlyn was making.
Alice gasped as someone rocketed past them in the hallway, just as the two girls made it onto the second floor landing. The rapidly retreating form waved in apology and called out a waning “Sorry!” as he turned a corner. She stared after him for a moment, heart still pounding and adrenaline still pumping, but Kaitlyn had no reaction whatsoever, and continued with her explanation as if a young boy had not just nearly collided with them at seventy-five miles per hour.
The fourteen-year-old struggled momentarily to catch up with what her roommate was saying―something about prejudice and jobs―and regained her bearings as Kaitlyn spoke about mutants making money by selling M, and how the cops and X-Men stopped them.
“So, basically, the X-Men are helping to make sure people keep hating mutants, and that most of the jobless mutants stay poor. And pretty much everyone at this school loves them.”
Kait had spoken so surely, as if there was no doubt what she knew was true, that Alice couldn’t help but feel a little outraged by the end of the speech.
“Those X-people are sneaky! Why does everyone here like them if they’re hurting mutants?” Really, who were the X-Men to take an honest living away from poor, discriminated mutants?
...But then she remembered that the “honest living” entailed selling drugs, illegal drugs. Now, she was no expert on narcotics, but she knew that some drugs became illegal for a reason, i.e. because they were/are bad. So didn’t that mean that M was bad for people? And that’s why it was no longer allowed?
Alice avoided her roommate’s gaze, unsure of how to question Kait without seeming argumentative. “But...maybe the drug was hurting people, and that’s why it was made illegal. People could have taken it and gotten bad mutations that made them hurt themselves or others,” she paused, gauging Kaitlyn’s reaction, “I mean, I want mutants to have nice jobs and stuff too, but maybe M just wasn’t the best way to do it...?”

So...my one-week, announced absence has turned into a two, three, possibly four-week absence. The next two weeks will be super busy with a theatre festival and exams, so expect my lack of posting to continue. Expect my cbox presence to increase, though, because...procrastination. I'll be back soon~

Mr. Holloway gave his consent to move on to the next phase of the project, which she was grateful for. He seemed to calm down as she grabbed the paints and adjusted her position to directly face him. He kept still when she began to sweep a brush across his face, but the silence between them was uncomfortable. She did not know what to say, exactly. Should she thank him for helping her? Or would it be better to cease dwelling and forget the incident ever happened? As she dipped into a bright magenta color, the color the heart would be. She reconsidered painting it, hesitating for a brief moment, but decided to go ahead with it. Gunther was a jerk anyway.
...A jerk who may have labeled her a teacher's pet for the rest of the year. Nay, for the rest of her life...
"I hope you don't worry too much about Gunther. This is the third time he's written one of these for being a bully this semester. He needs to be reminded that bullying is not something I'm okay with in the classroom, so don't let yourself get worked up over this, okay?"
It was as if Mr. Holloway had read her mind. The fourteen-year-old eyes widened a bit, surprised at her teacher's insight, and she briefly wondered if he had some hidden telepathic mutation he had neglected to mention to her... "Oh...thank you. I won't." She did not know why she thanked him, but a part of her did feel grateful. For his correct intuition, perhaps? Or his overall kindness?
Suddenly, she became very conscious of the proximity between their faces. Her hands...had touched his face. She instantly blushed and scooted back just a bit, dipping her brush back into the magenta paint as an excuse.
"Oh, Mr. Holloway, if you could see your face now..." she joked, attempting to direct attention away from her embarrassment, "I must say, you pull off a heart very well. Very, uh, manly."
Wait... Did she just call him manly? Shoot. Me. Now.

For all of the younger Mansionites of the site: A plot idea I had with CS here. Basically, the Junior X-Men are making a comeback in the name of altruism! To combat the tensions in the streets with charitable good will! If you are interested in having your character partake in such good deeds, please check the idea out. (It is not limited to people who want to be an X. You may remain neutral and still take part.)

Hello~ So Cold Steel (a.k.a. the leader of the X-Men) and I have been shooting around ideas about a revival of the Junior X-Men, in response to the infamous video of Gina and all of its eventual repercussions. The Junior X roster has been woefully empty since Katrina outgrew it, and we thought, what better time to restart the team?
The Junior X-Men, whose purpose is better detailed in the X-Men Faction section, basically function to help people! They do not go on dangerous missions like the Trainees and full-fledges X's do. Their "missions" include trips to soup kitchens, nursing homes, and other volunteer opportunities.
I believe that as a sign of good will and an attempt to ease the tension in the city, the X-Men would bring back this team. Now of course, this does not mean that the team would actually achieve their goals, at least not all the time. I personally think it would be hilarious and awful if there were a few mishaps...after all this is a team full of volatile/emotional/uncontrolled adolescents, and not everything will or can go right.
Therefore, Xavier's will have a sign up for this team of charitable kids, though perhaps not under the direct "Junior X-Men" moniker. We understand that there are certain members who do not want their characters affiliated with the X's, or any other team. Those who wish to remain neutral may do so. But I think this would be a good way for the younger members to get involved with the Riot Plots in a nonviolent, non-chaotic way, and those who opt to stay on the team post-Riots will then adopt the title. For now though, I believe, this team is for anyone who wants to give back to the city.
I apologize for how long this is!
Basically: The Junior X's are making a comeback in response to the riots. If you are interested in throwing your character in for some altruism, please express your interest here! <3
p.s. Clyde had an awesome Habitats for Mutanity idea, which the Junior X-Men may take a part of.

The look on Kaitlyn's face spoke volumes. Alice had committed some major faux pas, it seemed, in admitting to ignorance regarding the X-Men. She cringed and waited for the "omg how do you not know" to hit her in the face, but it never came. In fact, though her roommate was shocked, she began explaining what, or who, they were.
“Well, the X-Men… they’re pretty much a bunch of idiots who think they’re superheroes. They think they’re helping people, but most of the time they’re just going around making people’s lives worse. Especially if they’re mutants.”
Alice crinkled her eyebrows and tried to absorb what she was just told. So the X-Men were like the superheroes in comic books? Like vigilantes? Alice had heard of a few people like that, who dressed up and tried to clean up the crime in the streets. They usually ended up arrested...or shot. And yet there was a group of those sorts of individuals in the mansion? The way Kait was describing them certainly wasn't improving Alice's impression of the X-Men, to say the least.
"How do they make mutant's lives worse?" the fourteen-year-old asked, unsure of how anyone at Xavier's could achieve that. Everyone seemed so...tolerant, even prideful, of their mutation. And the image of mutants hurting mutants clashed with the pretty picture Toby had painted in Alice's head, as well.
