The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

"As you wish, t'en." She wasn't going to push it. She sighed a bit and then stood up. "It is no problem at all, Derek." She gave a half smile and put her hands behind her back. She did not get mad or anything, she was just tired.

"I did not mean to creep up on you. Sorry for frightening you." She eyed him, shaking her head a little because she did not know what to day other than she was sorry,
"Hand to hand... No powers, first one to hit ground t'ree times forfeits. You game?" She wanted to make it as fair as possible. If it was with weapons, she would be handicapped. If it was with powers... He would be. So the best option was no weapons, no powers.
Besides, she knew what she wanted if she won and she wanted to win her prize fair and square. And she would win. Assuming he replied with an affirmative to the rules, she would move to set her phone and buds out of the range of danger.
She moved to stand in front of him, maybe several yards apart from him. She went into that practiced, martial arts stance. Her eyes were now filled with challenge. That Come At Me, Brah! look. She did not ask nor tell what prizes would be. She was sure he had an interesting choice. "No dirty shots. No private parts, no head shots."
"You would be doing me a favor to move in, Derek. But I can't make you do what you do not want." She said honestly. Hevwould not bring stress to her, so far he was bringing cheer and such. It was a welcome change from the dreary things that went on.
"If you decide to take room, I will only charge you $50 security instead of matching rent." She said, hoping to convince him to choose but knowing it was up to him.
"Well, you are welcome to any herbs in garden or greenhouse." She offered. And then she sat back and quirked her lips. "And what are you t'inking about here, do you want a room?" She was prepared to go get the papers to make it legal.
She waited for him to answer, and if he decided that yes, he wanted a room, she would get up and walk over to the desk at one end of the room to grab a housing contract.
"No. I do not want you to go. What I want is what frustrates me and distracts.... And maybe confuses." She sighed and approached him, stopping within two yards of him. She wasn't angry at him, she was just over thinking, perhaps. She wasn't quite sure what to do. Assuming he should turn around, she was looking at him with a mixture of worry and just plain old tiredness.
"So I train to try and not t'ink about it, so I won't want somet'ing I can't even have." She shrugged and turned her head. "And even if what I want is close enough to touch, it will disappear."
Xavia closed the distance, "Come, spar wit' me. Winner gets somet'ing of choice. What do you say?" Her eyes regarded him seriously, wondering if he would do it or not. And would he ask what it was she was going to fight for?
"But fabulous," she said softly. "Yay for being minorities, right?" She understood quite well... After all, she had come from Eastern Europe in an age of communism, she too was mutant. Slightly less minority but enough to understand, yes?
Her mouth curved up slightly and she patted his hand, then said, "What kind of t'ings do you like to do besides cook? I am sure you are not a workaholic like me.
She pushed herself up, and looked at his hand for a moment before she accepted the hand up. She wasn't hurt much, if at all, but stumbled against him after wading out of that pile of dead leaves. Her eyes were kind of wide as she met his, and it took her longer than she would have wanted to say softly, "I am okay.... T'ank you..." Then she bent her head down, shakily taking a step back and letting go of his hand.
The moment hit her right in the gut. There had been some charge in the air. She backed up a few more steps and said, "I should not have asked you what I did when I was wit' you. I... Was stupid." And lonely, and so very tired, and... Attracted when she ought not to be. And that was trouble. She had to stop this nonsense, reaching out in the dark for stranger's hands.
But this was different enough to cause such unease... She had not felt like running away with the few others she allowed close... Not since her first meeting with Jupiter.
Her face kind of went through a myriad of different emotions before she launched away from him, running a few steps, then trotting, then slowing to a walk before turning round and saying, "Why are you here, Artair? You should know I am very messed up and not completely sane, and I act compulsively." She threw her hand up and moved back to the stump, climbing on.
She tried to will the branch toward her again, but her concentration was shot. Pressing her lips together, she moved back to the ground and grabbed her phone and ear buds.
"No. Just.... Need to be held at night. I miss him..." She bit her lip and looked down. "I haven't loved anyone since him... You know... Kind of love you get from someone who touches your heart in a way nobody else can. I only um... Be wit' one person since him and it was not t'e same as... Loving someone. It was just a night wit someone I do not know and I felt weird after. Anyway, I keep doing t’is opening up to you and never ask about you. Please tell me about you."
Indeed, this was part of it. She was sure she was driving people nuts by being so open.

"Had DocProf help a little, hurt too much and wanted to run. He healed my hand all t'e way, I wouldn't let him do my legs completely. Just take edge off. Very punny, by t'e way, wit' face plant t'ing. But no. I got distracted." She left it at that, not admitting it was his doing.
She then changed to the topic he brought up, "Just... Watch." It was hard for her to showcase her gift so much, she wasn't one to show off. Hell, even having gone on tour to sing had been rough on her.
She balanced on the narrow spot she was using to leap from, lifted her hand to beckon the branch toward her. It creaked with the movement and when she knew she could get to it, she bent at the knees and launched toward it, grabbing, and then swinging. The branch was then willed to help launch her to the next one, which followed the example of the first.
She moved with the grace of an athlete, though not perfect. The fourth branch kept eluding her, but this time, she threw her left hand and sent a vine whipping out to curl around it, and she stopped falling far enough from the ground to be able to grab on and swing like Tarzan only to grab the fifth branch shakily. She shook her hand to release the vine, and it withered away to nothing, while she lost her grip and fell for the third time.
"S**t!" She said just before hitting the ground harder than before. Xavia didn't think she was injured, but lay there panting and frustrated.
"No... I am not." She said quietly. "I do not sleep, and I am nearing madness." She was serious. He was the first person she had even said that to, and she didn't even know why she admitted it. Between ptsd from all the crap she went through just because of her mutant powers...
"Every day is a fight. I feel like I am losing. I just wish to sleep. If I could do t'at, maybe I can be stronger." She gave a bitter smile, "Lesson one, not all is as it appears to be."
"Well... T'at is long story," she said and led him to the ground floor and gestured to the couch. Once he was seated, she sat in one of the cushy looking chairs. "I first came to New York about eight or so years ago. I was kidnapped and brought here by a man who experiment on me when I was even younger, he want to see how my mutation come along since and to do more experiment. I was set free by a man who could do similar to you, talk to animals. I do not see him since. I left mansion and came to city and first sleep in Central Park, t'en I squat here. It looked much different... All t'at was here was grand piano sitting broken in t'e foyer and a matress. I fell in love wit' t'e hose and piano. T'en house got shot up by t'e men who kudnap me before when t'ey locate me. A few years after all t'at I buy property and start fixing it up. I want to say I finish restoring about a year before Delilah was conceived."
She pulled the buds from her ears and the band from around her upper arm that held her phone, setting it on another stump, not wanting to wreck the device. Then she got back on the stump that she was using as her starter. She shook her arms and then beckoned to the branch. She leapt toward it again and started to swing herself to gain better momentum. This time, she let go when her feet were higher, flipping through the air until she could grab the next branch, and then... Got distracted by the appearance of one of the reasons she was training so hard. She missed the second brach and went down into the pile of leaves at the base of that tree.
Damn it.
Xavia grumbled and rolled to her feet, stalking back to the trunk. She was not about to make a fool of herself for any man, even one she genuinely liked. Besides, she felt pretty bad for having freaked out on him the last time she saw him.
Once he was close enough, he would see that the burns were, indeed much better. She wasn't even in much pain anymore. Her legs were still looking kind of gross but no longer angry red. DocProf might have also insisted on her letting him at least take the pain away because she was too stubborn to let him heal her completely. Otherwise she would be in a boat load of pain right now! She had been chomping at the bit for a good work out and hated being idle.
"Hi," she said, and she started shaking her arms out. She didn't seem miffed about his appearance, though she was kind of... Not looking at him. "Good to see you again."
"Not yet. I have not finished all t'e rooms yet because I am very busy." Indeed, she was quite busy in life... She thought it would help her sleep but it did not. Poor woman hadn't had a full night of sleep in quite some time. And now she was just getting around to delegating tasks to other people.
"Rent is $200 a month, $100 for the room, $50 to utilities, $50 for food cost. My momma provides dinner, but you make your own breakfast and dinner and clean up after yourself. If you have special diet, you need to talk to my momma about it. I am Vegetarian," she said.
"Maybe for her birt'day... T'at should give me a chance to figure out t'e right animal for her." She nodded. While it wasn't completely accepting, it was close enough for the moment, but he understood her hesitation. At least... He seemed to.
She led him up one of the double stairs, up to the second floor. She'd open up the first room, which was above the living area. The room was not too small, but nor was it huge. It was painted in a neutral pallet. "Not all of t'e rooms are furnished... It has been a work in progress, since I do t'em myself. I have ten rooms and plan to finish t'e basement to add more." Then she led him to the bathroom, which was done up with multiple showers and stalls, though tastefully so. "Bat'rooms are designed to give multiple people opportunity to shower at once... One for ladies, one for men."
