The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

>> "F--F--Fine. J--Just...wet. L--Looks like we--we're stu--stuck here. F--For a while."
Aadi nodded in agreement, eyeing the downpour outside the window. Turning her attention back to the teenage girl she'd dragged around with her, seeing the way she held her hand tightly against her chest. "Oh...I...I'm sorry. Here, sit," She motioned to the various booths open in the coffee shop. "I will ask for something for your hand."
And before Carragail could persuade her otherwise, Aadi was heading towards the front of the shop, feeling decidedly guilty. If the girl had looked scared of her before, she was definitely now.

Aadi was too shocked to notice the kid jump, eyes locked with the dogs' own. The second dog, the smaller one, also had the horrible glowing eyes. What was wrong with them? How did anyone's eyes glow like that, let alone two dogs? "Leurs yeux! Ils sont...Ils sont..." She forgot herself for a moment and shocked french spilled out of her mouth.
>> "I'm so sorry! Don't be afraid they're... harmless."
Coming back to her senses, Aadi looked up at the kid who was offering her a hand up. Looking from him to the dogs quickly, she took the offered hand and stood up, backpedaling away from the demon dogs a few steps. "Why do their eyes glow like that?" She asked, stumbling over her words. "Are they sick?" No sickness she knew resulted in something like this, this was something paranormal. Not natural.

Aadi winced at the loud shout right behind her. "Somewhere there is no rain!" she called back. No way was she walking wherever they were going in this downpour.
Thankfully, right outside the park entrance, she saw a coffee shop across the street. Heading inside, Aadi stopped and panted to catch her breath. "Hah...that started fast." She let go of Carragail's hand, shivering from the cold. They were both soaked. At least the inside of the shop was warm. "Are you okay?"

Work, again. If it wasn't school, it was work, though Aadi probably shouldn't be complaining. It wasn't like she was getting any money from her parents for school, and scholarships could only go so far. Plus she was even in the field she wanted to be in, at a restaurant! If only she was a chef instead of a plain waitress.
Walking along the street away from her job, Aadi held onto her hat as she looked up at the sky. A clear day, good. As long as it stayed that way. New York was not fun when it rained, though then again, neither was any city she'd been to.
It was because she was looking up that she nearly tripped right over something a lot closer to the ground. Flailing her arms, Aadi stepped back and around the obstacle before she realized just what she had nearly ran over: two dogs. One big and one smaller (they were both pretty big to begin with), heads down as if scolded. Some kid was sitting on a lowered wall beside them. She didn't see a leash, but some city dogs were remarkably trained.
"Awww, they are so cute!" She crouched down next to them. "Hi!" She'd just offered one hand to the big one, to smell, when the dog looked up at her. It's eyes glowed a dark, evil red.

Aadi wasn't oblivious to the scoot away from her, frowning in confusion. What was that for? Was she thinking Aadi's cold was contagious? Well, it probably was. Maybe she should be more careful how close she got to people.
When the reply to her question came, Aadi nodded in understanding. High school in the states could go up to 19 years old, right? Or 20? This girl didn't look that close to her age though, she was probably a bit younger.
Okay, Aadi couldn't really contain her curiosity much longer. So she turned to Carragail with bright eyes. "So, ehm...when did your power start..."
That was when the sky opened up above them, the beginnings of a drizzle turning into a downpour. Aadi shrieked: of all days not to wear even a hat. "Vite!" She reached out and caught Carragail's hand before bolting towards the park exit.

The relentless rain of the last few days had finally eased up, and it was about time. Between the few summer classes and her job, she was annoyed at having to slosh around through puddles just to get anywhere. And then there was the cold that came with the weather, and colds meant fritzy powers, which meant any free time she had was holed up in her dorm room trying not to float away, and feeling absolutely miserable while doing it.
She missed company. Her roommate was nice, yes, but never around. If she was there, her boyfriend was too and Aadi was either ignored or kicked out of the room. She definitely didn't miss her family, they'd never been good company to begin with. Maybe she missed her friends? Gloom was always cured with a shopping spree along St-Catherine street. Maybe she missed hearing french instead of english she had to struggle to understand still.
Maybe she missed animals. Her golden retriever and black lab. Two big, beautiful dogs. Dogs didn't care if you were the family outcast. They loved you all the same, all it took was a cookie and a tummy-rub. Aadi would have brought them from home if she could. She wondered if they were being taken care of in her absence, since she'd done all the looking after them before. But she wasn't on good enough terms with her family to want to call voluntarily.
But finally, the rain was over. The day that followed was bright and gorgeous, all the water puddles slowly drying up. Deciding she needed some fresh air to get her mood back up, Aadi packed up a blanket, some snacks, a book, and left for a smaller park near her school dorms. A picnic and day out in the sun was exactly what the doctor ordered.
Arriving at the park, she gave a sigh of contentment as she spread the blanket across the damp grass to avoid getting her pants all wet. Aadi dropped down onto her back and closed her eyes, hands folded behind her head.

>> "Um...we're from Massachusetts...originally. My dad was...the...governor for a while. You might know him. And...I'm just...here...for school. What about you?"
Massachusetts, Aadi nodded along at that information. She was one of the many Canadians who, while knowing the names of the many (many) states, couldn't for the life of her place them on a map beyond New York, Florida, and maybe California. As for knowing the name of the governor? Not a hope in hell.

Hi there! Are you still looking for threads? Aadi's always open to having new younger sisters to pamper
She's particularly fond of dogs, since she misses her family's dogs terribly and pets aren't allowed in the school's dorms. If Liz is ever possessing a dog, or in the general area, it could be a bonding point?
Ping me on PMs if you're interested We're moving soon so there might be a couple days I won't be online, but I generally respond pretty fast.

The younger of the two boys was asking her a question. What was she looking for? Aadi knew the answer in her head. Shelter would be nice. A place where the world hadn't completely gone insane would be even nicer, if such a place existed. What of the few friends she'd made before the apocalypse? It was a stupid thing to ask these two though.
They hadn't attacked her yet, and were actually talking to her. Was that something to be glad about, or a trap? Aadi was at least comforted in the fact that if they'd had a gun, she'd be shot by now, and if they tried to get in knife range they'd be sky-high before they could land a hit. She'd made the mistake of letting someone get that close once, and never, ever again. The knife wound and following infection had nearly been the death of her.
"Shelter," she replied to the question after a moment. "If there is any left here. Would you happen to know?" It couldn't hurt to ask. There was only so much wandering around on her own she'd be able to do in this jungle gym of a city.
Securing her backpack, she started back towards the beaten path, hoping Carragail would follow her. She had so many questions she'd wanted to ask if she ever found someone with powers like her, and well...now she had. The question was what to start with first, and her poor mood at being sick was pushed aside with giddiness.
"You say you have not been here long? Me too! Where do you live before? Are you here for school, or with family?"

>> "I--Is it just me, or is it starting to rain?"
Rain? Aadi looked skywards, and winced as she got a drop in the eye. Yes, it was starting to rain. Brilliant. Rain hadn't been in the forecast...where was she supposed to go now? Indoors was asking for trouble with her inability to keep a grip on gravity for longer than ten minutes at a time.
"Yes...maybe we should go inside someplace?" Aadi stood up again. "I do not know any place to go, do you?"
That was when she noticed the angry color to Carragail's hand, frowning. "Oh...are you okay? Maybe we should get something for that." The sooner a burn was treated, the better off it would be. Aadi had gotten plenty of burns in the kitchen over the years.

Aadi continued to wait expectantly to be shown whatever Carragail's power was, ecstatic. She was finally meeting another like her. She'd of course figured she couldn't be alone, but it was one thing to know so, and another to see someone else capable of the things she could do, and speak with them. Even if it was in heavily-accented English.
>> "Oh, really, it's not that impressive."
When it came, Aadi disagreed with that statement immediately. Blinking at the sudden light from the asian girl's hand, Aadi gasped softly in wonder. That was before she had to shield her eyes from how brilliant the light was. It was only that bright for a moment before dimming down again. Lowering her hands, Aadi stared at Carragail's hand until the light dimmed back down into nothing again.
>> "That's pretty much all I can do. It's more annoying than anything, really."
Blinking repeatedly (she had sunspots in her vision now), Aadi brightened. "What do you mean? I think it is very cool! You are like the sun as a person. You can do that with just your hand?"

Blinking repeatedly at the jumbled mess of English that spewed out of Carragail's mouth, Aadi couldn't appear more confused if she had a floating question mark over her head. That had been totally impossible for her to understand, apart from one or two words in the whole sentence that didn't really lend anything to it's meaning. "...Pardon?"
But then her question and the very unhelpful answer was forgotten at Carragail's next sentence.
>> "And, y--yeah...I think you're power's...well...really cool. B--Better than mine."
Better than hers? Hers? That wasn't a mistranslation, right? By 'hers', she meant her power. She had a power.
"You have a power?" Aadi blurted out as soon as the thought occurred to her. "Serious? Why did you not say so?" She crouched down again, eyes bright. "I have never meet someone else with a power before! What is it?"
