The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

He knew it would be a bit of a shock. Her confusion was nothing short of what he'd expect with his reaction. Why would any sane person halt the advances of a woman so beautiful. But it wasn't right. It reminded Geo of too many mistakes he had made in the past.
"It ain't about no strings Xavia." The elemental's thick voice spoke softly yet. Tucking his hands into his pockets he stood his ground as the shorter mutant walked up to him. The scent of roses magnifying with her proximity. "I don't know you. You don't know me. I crashed your picnic an hour ago and now..." He trailed off, his hand gesturing to the couch they had just been entangled on. Geo tried to avoid looking into her saddened face. He knew his own weaknesses enough to know that would be a much harder battle.
"You're obviously upset. Dealing with a lot. I get that. Life's a terrible hard mess that we all stumble through just trying to find ground to stand on. I don't want to be the arms you run into because you're all torn up inside." His features carried a soft compassion as he searched for the words to make his point clear. "How do you know your roots aren't just looking fir some soil to grab onto." The point was literal and symbolic all at once. Mutations made things weird like that but having the chaos of elements and nature at your fingertips messed with ones psych.
Geo chuckled as Max recounted his last date. He had a myriad of horrible experiences himself. Several of which had ended up in the Sanctuary's infirmary. But the hunt for Miss Right wasn't something Geo was sure existed anymore. Was it really possible in the massive expanse that was existence there would be one soul that matched you perfectly. Not to mention the microscopic chance of finding them in the world let alone New York City of all places. Equal chances were she lived in a remote village in rural China and couldn't even speak the same language.
"Don't hunt for them. That's the first mistake. Puts you into a state of mind where you're trying to fit everyone into that slot to see if they fit." Geo pulled himself up onto the table, letting his feet dangle. Grains of sand fell from his bare feet as he did so, collecting on the ground below him. "Instead focus on the experience. The person. Everyone has something to offer, it's just getting it to shine. But don't listen to me on dating advice. I have a guild of evil ex-girlfriends most of whom pack some pretty mean powers. A couple roam these halls." He shivered visibly for effect though he wasn't far off. The first mutant girl he dated could warp reality. That was a scary thing to deal with when going through a bad break-up.
A look of confusion crossed the elemental's face as Max talked about having a year gap in memory. He couldn't imagine being out that long and having no idea what had happened.
"Like amnesia style? Did you just like go missing one day then show up a year later? That's nuts man."
"Well we both know that ain't true." Geo spoke implying an air of confidence though added to the statement. "You're far too skilled a photographer to make me look bad." He punctuated with a wink thrown in her direction as he broke off a large piece of the pie and forked it into his mouth. It was mostly a guessed statement. He had seen a few pictures on her camera when hey had first encountered though Geo didn't give them a fair once over. He was more concerned at the time with making sure that the woman was actually taking pictures of him before he tormented her. It was strange how that had seemed like so long ago when really it was closer to twenty four hours ago. It was strange how ones perception of time could change so drastically.
He honestly would love a chance to show off who he was. The elemental was all about displaying his abilities whenever the opportunity presented itself. It showed a sense of pride and he liked to think showed other mutants who were afraid of who they were to not be afraid to show their true colors. With a medium in the media like Daydream offered it was only magnified. It was important that the next generation of mutants had someone to look up to. In this crazy world who knew what the future held for their kind. The reminder of their situation with the police brought obvious worry to the redhead's features.
"Don't sweat it Dreamy. Cops have a short attention span in a city like this one. Chances are they were done looking for us before midnight. Might be in their systems for a bit but out of sight out of mind." He had experience with this sort of things. Chances were as long as you weren't going on a straight rampage through the streets they would have a whole bunch more problems on their hands before the night was out. They just needed to not draw attention to themselves. The Vasquez family Geo knew he could trust, he had a history with them. That wasn't an issue. But if she wanted a demonstration they were going to have to be crafty.
"Empath huh? Sounds like fun. That's gotta be hard to play your cards close to your chest. Though I guess that leaves you with a different kind of closeness I suspect. Double edged sword?" He had never dated a psychic before. Closest he had come to was Deja, her reality warping was mind blowing but he didn't know if he would like not being alone in his own head. He was a conflicted man though he tried not to show it with his calm and relaxed demeanor. It was something he liked to keep to himself. The world was full of enough problems without him adding his into the mix. English though, the Xy's must have been actively recruiting from over seas. He had ran into another X-kid a few days prior. Serena her name was though. Geo doubted she gave him a false name so the thought left his mind.
"Well you can't avoid it forever. All hiding and changing your life up does is empower these creeps." Geo spoke before finishing off the last of his pie. He didn't even want to mention the possibility that they had been following her long enough to already know about the mansion. It wasn't like that speedy creep could have known what she did whenever she passed out. This had preconceived write all over it.
"I'm going to go up there. I'll talk to him and you won't have to deal with them any more." His voice adopted a very somber tone as he spoke. Trying to convey the seriousness on the subject he spoke of. "You can stay at the Sanctuary. I'll get Mac or someone to keep you company. When I get back I'll make sure you get home safe and sound." His tone was protective. He didn't want to risk Daydream getting hurt. There was no way they were making it out of this without a scrap. He didn't want to tell her that of course but he had been around the block enough to know for sure.
There was no denying the raw attraction between the two. That much was clear. The warm body pressed against his was comforting. As she burrowed into him Geo was waiting for her to start branching off roots into his sandy skin. It wasn't the first time there had been that he had felt the draw from another elemental. Recollections of Arie came to his head. He had almost forgotten the water elemental he had dated for a brief while. It was the same with Wildfire. Such raw abilities fed on the most rawest forces of all in their hosts: their emotions.
She didn't seem content with just cuddling. She writhed in his arms, face burrowing into his neck before looking up an into his eyes. Geo looked deep into her caramel colored orbs as she pleaded. Begging for the affections that she craved so bad. In the moment Geo allowed himself to succum to the base desire. Pulling his hand up into her deep red hair he closed his eyes and brought his lips to meet hers. Her lips were soft, moist. The connection sent endorphins flowing into his system as he ran his lips across hers.
Though after a moment something else stirred up in the elemental. Regret. Here she was before him, a woman in obvious pain and emotional regret. Years ago her saying there were 'no strings' would have been all he needed to hear. But he was a different person now. There wasn't a connection he felt outside of his baser power enduced ones. Lurching his way out from underneath her Geo launched himself to his feet, moving slightly away to put distance between himself and the beautiful woman coming on to him.
"I'm sorry. This is especially weird for me to say but it ain't right." He apologized to the woman, clearly caught up in a conflict of his own. "That's not the way I am. Not any more." He had spent years as a womanizer. Not caring about the women who's lives he danced in and out of. But he was working on that, improving himself as a person. This wasn't who he wanted to be anymore.
"There's no such thing as a bad in my friend. You see a pretty lady you want to sweet off her feet and make feel all warm and fuzzy inside then you make it work. It's not about getting them home. It's about getting in their heart." He patted his hand again his chest several times reiterating his point. "Any man can do the drunken hook up. The real art is in the flirting." Absent mindlessly Geo chalked his pool cue. Seeming more fixated on his task then the words he spoke.
"It's ain't about hooking up with hotties. Swapping stories with your buddies. That's all a bunch of bull. Real rush is in making a beautiful woman smile, feel good about themselves. Leaving them with that confidence and glow that makes a real woman shine, man. I played that Don Jon bull when I was younger. It gets old and hollow." It was strange how ones views could change with time. Younger years had seen him as a womanizer, a ruthless serial flirt who loved a night out on the town and waking up to a girl he couldn't remember the name to. But life was about bigger things. He knew that now.
"Eh. I've been thinking about it. But that was a different life. I haven't quite found my path yet." He eyed the table. Left with horrible choices with shots. He could try to get fancy with his shot but who knew what it would yield. "Thinking of just picking up a job as a mechanic for now. The whole business running thing was a pain in the boulders." He winked at Max as he lined up and took his shot. Though he bounced off the wall where he had wanted to it veered in the wrong direction, moving with a spin he didn't mean to put on the shot. With a tap it nudged the 8 ball dangerously close to the corner pocket. The elemental held his breath as he watched until the game losing shot came to a stop. Heaving a sigh of relief he looked up to Max.
"See what happened there. I got cocky. Almost messed up big." Geo laughed at himself heartily as he stepped back from the table to make room for Max's turn.
Geo smiled warmly at Daydream as she gave her best attempt at thanks. He had to admit her southern drawl was his Achilles heel. Though he'd never admit to her the pull it gave her on him. Offering the same smile to the girl waiting on them he bowed his head in thanks.
"Gracias Nina. Dile a tu padre que se mejore pronto." And she was gone. The smile remained fixated on his features as he examined the desert. "I helped them out with some issues they had with the landlord. New York slum lords are ruthless. Especially when they have leverage on you." Geo dug into the blueberry pie happily. The rich sweet flavors contrasted nicely from the savory breakfast. Besides who didn't like a bit of sweets for breakfast? His eyes caught Daydreams as she smiled at him, making his heart skip a bit as she asked him about more photos.
"Ah! So I take it that I came out rather photogenic?" He winked at her through a laugh as he put down his fork to take a drink of his room temperature coffee. "I'd be more than happy to oblige there Dreamboat. We just have to be subtle about it. Or have you forgotten that we're wanted criminals." He wiggled his eyebrows to emphasis his statement before laughing at the notion. Going for a full out display probably wasn't best when New York's finest was looking for his particular power set. But there were way around that. Besides they still had to figure out what to do with the circus. Or rather he'd have to find a way to slip Daydream somewhere safe long enough for him to pay a visit to the address on the back on the card in his pocket.
It was a peculiar situation to say the very least. Geo would normally be in a whole other state of mind. Invited to stay in the home of a beautiful woman for the night? But this was different. Jupiter was family and that was a whole other ballpark. As she sat down and sidled up to Geo on the couch he had a sense of anxiousness to him. It only worsened as she came to physical contact with him. He took a deep breath and remembered. This was a woman in pain. A mutant with a tortured past to whom affection outside of a superficial fan base was probably scare.
Reaching up Geo wrapped an arm around the woman, comfortingly bringing her close to him. Twisting slightly he brought his other arm around to hook his hands across her shoulder.
"There's nothing wrong with needing contact with another person. That's they way the world works. People interacting with one another and exchanging that connection." He rubbed his sandy hand along her arm reassuringly as he gave her a slight squeeze. The scent of roses was strong, though not intrusive. Geo had always been a fan of the fragrance, he wondered if it was her perfume or some link to her mutant anatomy. Perhaps both?

The elemental's face visibly brightened at the mention of Aura. That stabby bit of psycho had been one of his best friends back in the day. Her signing off on the organization held serious weight with him. This place seemed like somewhere he'd like. From the surface this place seemed like everything he had hoped the Sanctuary would be in his absence and then some. Of course he was always one to be weary of putting all their money on face values. At the very least it seemed like there would be some more dirt movers like him to learn a few things off of. Maybe share some tricks of the trade.
"Generator shouldn't be a problem. It'll keep me sane and my hands busy. I'll keep a bug in peoples ears on anything else might need fixing." He'd be happy to do his part to help out around the community the Sanctuary had to offer. If there was one thing that Geo had learned in the past couple years it was living on a limited means. So he really wasn't interested in compensation from the organization. He had enough contacts in New York to keep some spending money in his pockets with mechanic work. What he really wanted was a cause. Something worth fighting for that he could be a part of.
The way Devon spoke about Haven said a lot to the elemental as he listened. There were a lot of gears at work. It seemed like they had their hands in a little bit of everything. On one hand that was an incredible asset when it came to such an organization. On the other hand it was a scary concept where they to turn out to be some boogeyman of some sort.
"Well I'm hear to help whenever I can be of service. Wouldn't mind getting my hands dirty." He rolled his eyes at the unintentional pun. "So to speak. Get some time in and see what you guys are all about. At the very least it never hurts to have an extra pair of hands." Of course he was sure he wasn't going to hop into something of the sort with grandfathered seniority. The Order was dead. This was a Brave New World in front of him and he was a different man than when he had left the city limits last. But you have to start somewhere and there was no shame with starting at the bottom of a new latter. A chuckle came from Geo as his companion exclaimed over the baked goods, inadvertently driving him to grab another.
Devon brought up solid point on the thoughts of Utopia. It was a flawed plan. But there was no play book as to how to survive as a species, they were improving as they went. It was Devon's statement about the Sanctuary that really drove it home for him.
"Safer among their own. Can't knock us out from a computer council if we're at their doorstep...that's a good point." Geo's finger wagged in agreement though his eyes were on the floor. In thought. It would have been an easy way to take care of the mutant 'threat' without making too many waves. "But they certainly won't give us our own free space. And I definitely can't say I like the idea of mutants trying to integrate into the current bureaucracy. The whole flawed hum-...outdated government structure was crumbling far before mutants started showing up."
Geo hadn't gotten the full gauge of Xavia's stardom until she had turned onto the stone pathway leading up to the house. As she walked up Geo stood on the sidewalk looking up at the big building. A house? In New York? Thinking back on his decade in the bustling city he had no memories of stepping foot in an actual house. X-mansion didn't count in his mind, it was basically a fancy smancy prep school for kids who doubled as nukes.
He promptly followed the through the large red door as she unlocked it. The inside was even more fascinating than the exterior. Homey if ever he saw anything that was. But the story that accompanied the building was what was truly fascinating. In her lowest she had found refuge here and now she had turned it into a refuge for others. And with some defensive upgrades from the sound of it.
"Well you did a beautiful job at restoring the house to reflect that heart. Marvelously done." His voice echoed slightly in the large building as he walked over to the couch closest to the piano where Xavia lingered. He carefully tested the furniture against his weight before giving it his full weight. The seat creaked in protest to his compact frame.
"I can certainly stay for tonight if you'd like." A peculiar situation but Geo wouldn't mind testing the waters. Xavia seemed like a emphatic nurturing soul. She could be a massive asset to mutants in need should Geo come across any 'which he always did'
He had gotten the shock he was hoping for in bringing up the name he had heard Daydream muttering in her sleep. A safe bet, especially given the information on her former fiance she had offered up earlier. The look on her face was priceless. The elemental basked in it for a few moments as she wondered how he knew about her. Her face reached a new shade of red at the question, a curious result.
"You talk in your sleep. I might not pay much attention but I always remember what a red head says." He chuckled slightly to the joke to himself. It had just stuck out to him in his time huddling over her sleeping body in worry as they had just met. Suspicion seemed to rise from her end of the table. Geo could practically see her feathers ruffle as she sized up for defense, crossing her arms in front of her. The elemental stared at the woman who threw allegations at him with a smile firmly planted on his lips. Trying very hardly not to burst into laughter Geo tried to point out the obvious.
"Yes. Me, the mutant activists with a history at fighting bigotry and oppression. Because I'm a guy that walks around complimenting women I'm obviously a pig right?" His playful smile stayed on his as he spoke. "That means I have ulterior motives and with that I obviously must think the only time two women should be together is in some fantasy. Please." Geo let out a loud hearty laugh after he was done speaking. It was a funny notion. Though he often got pooled in with they typical male stereotype. He liked to throw people off. Kept things interesting.
"One of the best wingmen I ever had in the club was this gal names Aura. She was smoother than I was half the time. I respect love in whatever form it comes in Dreamboat. Lifes too full of ugliness not to."
Her work with the magazine sounded interesting. Something that he would probably read. A publication dedicated to ending the stigma around mutants was definitely one that he could get behind.
"Sounds like you're fighting on the mutant front in your own way there Dreamboat. Bring awareness out there to the people. Show those mutants out there that are still hiding that we are all out here and very much in the open." Taking another sip before picking up his fork Geo had a realization. "You still have those pictures of me don't you?" He was fairly certain that she had gotten at least one while he was still being swallowed up by the ground. If not he would happily put on a hell of a display for her. It was for a good cause and Geo never minded showing off.
"Nope. Nuh-uh. Not going to happen." Geo's eyes narrowed though his smile remained as he pointed his for at Daydream. "Just because I told you my old name doesn't mean you can go around using it. I have a reputation to uphold around here." He pretended that was what really bothered him about the usage of that name. She was sweet. Trying to convince him her sense about people being good made it for sure. But Geo knew better. It wouldn't change the past. The things he had done. He still wasn't even sure if half of it was the wrong thing to do. He had been fighting for his people. The smile turned to a frown as she tried to convince him.
"Well I hope your right Dreamy..." His voice wavered some as he spoke. Playing with the food on his face he avoided Daydream's stunning gaze. He was trying to avoid the whole 'Tristen' side of the conversation. One look at those big gorgeous brown eyes and he'd be week in the knees and practicing his damn signature.
"Who's Emily?" Geo's gravelly voice cut his silence like a hot knife as he scooped up a bite, quickly swallowing it down. He let the question hang for a moment, always leaning towards the theatrical. "Take it that's your squeeze right? Back at the mansion?"
She was visibly saddened by his decline of her offer. He had meant no offence. It was simply that the Sanctuary was the closest thing to a childhood home he could remember. Who wouldn't want to stick around their fondest memories. He climbed to his feet, letting the mound dissolved back away into the surface of the ground. It was easy to tell a non genuine smile, it disheartened him to see a woman with so much sorrow.
When she apologized for being strange and held out her hand Geo watched her from where he stood for a moment. Putting out the cigarette and tucking the remains into his pocket he crossed the distance in one long stride. Bypassing her outstretched hand Geo took a step further reaching out with both arms to wrap her in a warm embrace.
"You're not strange. You're yourself. That's the best thing in this world you can possibly be Xavia." His words rung with an air of confidence. Stepping back slightly he kept his hand on her shoulder as he spoke. "It's been amazing meeting you Xavia. But you aren't getting rid of me that easily." His serious tone took a more playful one as he aimed to brighten her spirit. Scooping up her basket for her Geo gladly took them up into his arms.
"Not everyone at the Sanctuary is looking to stay in a shelter. There are always people looking for lodging, not to mention I spend my days doing nothing but wandering these streets looking out for our kind. If I had a dime for every lost soul I came across I could house them all personally." A literal impossibility in the way that he said it but he liked the way it had sounded in his head. "Now I know there's another kind hearted beautiful soul looking out for our kind I can be sure to fill some beds for you." It was nice to see that for once in a long time mutants would have some options. Places to stay and keep safe. It was a beautiful time that they were in, hopefully for once that which was gold would stay. Holding out his arm in offer to Xavia and standing straight Geo poised himself into his best impression of a perfect gentleman.
"If you have to leave then let me escort you home. We can have a lovely conversation and you can start getting used to seeing my ugly mug."
Geo laughed loudly as Hemorrhage quipped at their opponents. Or Serena, rather, as she preferred. It was a bad habit. Running with the Order people tended to stick solely to their chosen mutant name. She was a feisty one, no wonder she had no problem knocking him back into his place. He was always happy to have a skilled fighter watching his back in a scrap. As the man with the bat crumbled to the ground Geo pulled the rest of the dirt up and around the man. Catching hold of him and twisting the sand into a twister he lifted the man off of his feet.
Focused on the sandstorm he had created to capture the goon Geo turned his back towards Serena's end as he pulled the storm towards the first man climbing to his feet. He didn't see the man approaching him while his back was turned. Catching up a second victim Geo directed the storm to toss them back out to the mouth of the street. As he recalled the sand he peaked over his shoulder in time to see Serena dispatch the man aiming to get the upper hand on the him. What the heck was that she had hit him with? The elemental was caught in a bit of wonder as he observed the woman at work. That color...Hemorrhage. Then came the light bulb.
"I get it! Hemorrhage?! Brilliant." Geo called out a bit of laughter in his voice. He wasn't one to take fights with humans very seriously. Though perhaps he should have. While he was too busy admiring Serena's ability to watch his back he had forgot to keep an eye out for himself. One of the men who had still been on his feet picked up the discarded bat off the ground. Before Geo had a chance to notice he has hit hard over the back of the head. Falling forward Geo caught himself on the ground. The sharp pain from the blow made his blood boil. Geo's face turned a violent shade of red as the dirt the was around him shivered before jumping to him. In one motion he gathered the dirt onto his right arm as he pushed off of the ground to catch the man by his torso. Large stone fingers wrapped around the mans body as Geo lifted him off the ground. Fear filled the man's features as he saw the vicious snarl that formed on Geo's face.
"Proud of that one meat bag? Too afraid to fight a person head on."The elemental applied pressure to the mans chest as he cried out in pain.
As she spoke his human name he winced visibly. It was a raw nerve. One that he didn't like poking. That part of his life was so far behind him now there was times he wasn't sure he remembered it all. When she reached out and took his hand again he was slightly shocked. He had expected her to hightail it back to the mansion. Tell everyone how she had encountered this mutant killer. Barely escaped with her life. He would have still made his way to the circus regardless. But she stayed, she was still here. That was new.
Her whole demeanor change. Geo watched her through studious eyes. Trying to figure out what exactly was going on in the head of the red head that sat across from him. Suddenly her appetite was back and she tore into the food in front of her. He watched for a moment before pulling his own plate in front of him. Systematically he cut into the plate in wide diagonals breaking apart the egg yokes on his plate.
"Huevos Rancheros." The 'r's rolled off his tongue naturally. "Fried eggs on a steamed tortilla. Here they have this home recipe that has potatoes and some sausage in it. Like a Mexican breakfast bowl." He explained as she declared that she enjoyed it. It was the closest comparison that he could think of anyways. As he took a few bites, watching the woman as he chewed. Her shyness was gone now, seemingly a thing of the past. At least she seemed to be more at ease as she started speaking about work.
"Who do you take photos for? Squirrel lovers weekly?" He threw out a week joke. Testing the waters. He was still visibly nervous at her reaction to his history. Waiting for the catch, something to set in and her to realize what she was doing. Maybe it was a ploy, figured running from the mutant terrorist would probably be suicide. He was the kind of monster the news loves to slather all over the media.
She caught his eyes watching her though he didn't make an attempt to cover his gaze or play it off. His eyebrows were twisted into an inquisitive look as he studied her pretty features. When prompted with a question he placed his elbows on the table, hands folding under his chin.
"I don't get you Daydream." Geo spoke simply, his thick voice speaking slowly and surely. "You're a fantastically whimsical piece of crazy. I'm trying figure out if it's scary or entrancing." A coy smile formed on his face as he shook his head and sat back taking a sip of his coffee. "To be honest, I don't even know if it quite matters. You work it." He threw her a wink over the rim of his mug before placing it back down and continuing on to his food.
A look of slight shock crossed Geo's face as she offered him a place to stay. He quickly backpedaled on his statement. Waving out his hands to emphasis his point.
"No you have it all wrong. I'm not like 'homeless' homeless. I live at the Sanctuary. I mean it's technically a homeless shelter and I sure as hell don't pay rent. But I like living there. Keeps me close to the community. Abyss was a big part of me becoming who I am today. That's because he was there. At the sanctuary." If he wanted to be there for the next generation of mutants then he had to be on the grounds. Couldn't be off living in some run down apartment. Not to mention with the way the renting system ran in New York the Sanctuary was about the best digs he was going to be able to end up in.
[color3ea341=]"My home is the Sanctuary. I sleep better knowing I'm there. Was the target of a lot of grief back in the day so wouldn't be the first time someone tried to blow those golden doors in. I wanna be there for the next person who dares."[/color] A wicked grin formed on his face at the thought. He was a fan of a good scrap. His tone switched to an earnest on "Not that I don't truly appreciate the offer. It shows a lot that you would open up your home to a complete stranger."
