Individual
Character's full name: Jameson Carter Harris Alias/ Nickname/ Code name: n/a Gender: Male Age: 17 Date of Birth: 11/05/1994 Nationality/ Ethnicity: Caucasian Birthplace/ Home/ Place of origin: New York, New York
Appearance
Hair color and style: Brown and unruly at best. Eyes: Brown Height: 5’ 8” Build: Visible mutation: n/a Scars/ Tattoos/ Piercings: The normal scrapes and small scars of an active childhood. Jameson broke his arm when he was 10 and was in a cast for 4 weeks. Besides that, just a small scar just under his hairline on his forehead from when his mutation manifested.
Other features: Jameson is about as run of the mill as a teenager can get.
Everyday clothing style: Two words. Layered. Shirts. If there’s a shirt that Jameson can put another shirt over…he’s wearing it. T-shirts under button-ups, hoodies over long sleeved shirts. Long sleeved shirts over t-shirts, you name it…that’s probably what’s hanging in Jameson’s closet. He’ll wear workout clothes and the occasional plain Tee if it’s hot outside…but his personal style dictates that, for the most part, two shirts be worn at all times.
Uniform: Other than various sports uniforms, Nothing to speak of here.
Sleepwear: Boxers and an undershirt. Nothing to see here ladies.
Miscellaneous clothing: For now: an apron, khakis, and a white button-up shirt. Jameson is a sacker at a local grocer hoping for a promotion to deli attendant when he turns 18.
Character
Personality: Jameson is…pretty much a 17 year old boy. He’s worried about what everyone thinks, and his appearance is both his most and least favorite thing about himself. Friends, real friends, are pretty much the most important thing Jameson can think of, and it’s really important to him that he’s got a healthy number in the wings.
He’s known he was a mutant for about a year now, and decided to stay in regular school instead of enrolling at the Mansion. His parents supported the choice, as did most of his friends. Adjusting really wasn’t all that difficult, and aside from the usual high school bullies, he doesn’t have too hard of a time. His mutation isn’t visible and it’s obvious enough when he uses it that school admin has left him to his own devices.
Jameson is quick to laugh and tell jokes, even at his own expense, and he really wants to be one of the nice guys. People say they finish last, but as far as Jameson has seen on TV, the nice guys seem to do pretty well for themselves.
Jameson is one of those guys who doesn’t really fit in with a particular high school clique and finds himself hanging out with lots of different people from lots of different crowds. The jocks tolerate him because he’s a solid runner and and despite his small stature has pretty savage basketball skills. The nerds tolerate him because he’s well versed in any number of comic books. (Not the Japanese crap…just the good ole’ superheroes.) Girls like him well enough because, as previously stated, he’s trying to be one of the good guys. This bites him in the rear sometimes, but c’est la vie. Being well rounded has too many advantages to be anything else.
Hobbies/ Interests: Comics, sports (watching and playing), girls (watching and playing), cars, girls, TV, video games, and…oh yeah, girls.
Job or part time job and description: Grocery Store Clerk: Jameson helps sack groceries, stock shelves, clean aisles and other odds and ends jobs that need to be done. The store is small and private owned and specializes in organic foods and farm grown vegetables, so they have a very eclectic clientele.
Fears/ phobias/ concerns: Stage fright. Jameson is the last person on earth you’d ever see doing karaoke or getting up to perform in front of a crowd. Being in a band is out, and so are things like theater. No way. No how. Speech class is bad enough. One on one isn’t a problem, he’s not some shy kid or anything, but performing arts are out. Any other concerns would probably be the same things all teenagers worry about, getting into college, finding a job, getting a date to the senior prom.
Special talents: Athletics. Jameson is an above average runner and good enough to get decent playing time on the Varsity Basketball team. Besides that, he gets decent grades and hopes to get into one of the local colleges for business management.
Morality
Good/ bad/ neutral/ other: Good. Growing up in New York, a person sees lots of things, from mutants on a rampage, to things like the Registration Act. Even before he knew he was a mutation, Jameson disapproved of what was happening in the city. Young as he was, he knew that you simply don’t treat other human beings that way. The X’s and the MRC do a good job, and all he’s ever seen them do is help.
Mutations
Mutation description: Astral Projection. Essentially, Jameson is capable of separating his essence from his physical body. This allows him to float freely without being seen within a radius of 50 ft around his body. Duration is limited to around a minute, but that has increased over the last year from a little over 30 seconds. Through practice, Jameson has discovered that he can increase the time spent outside of his body.
Being ‘phased out’ means that Jameson cannot interact with, talk to, touch, or in any other way affect the goings on of the world. He can simply observe…and float through walls. The closer to his time limit Jameson gets, the more exhausting the process is and the harsher the side effects when he returns to his body.
Strengths: In all honesty, Jameson has a hard time seeing a lot of positive points to his mutation. Sure it’s cool to be different, and there are all sorts of possibilities as far as mischief is concerned. Mostly though, being able to watch and hear things without anyone knowing you’re there let’s you learn a lot. He can’t be hurt in that form, because it’s impossible to see or touch him, but he can’t change anything either.
Weaknesses: When Jameson astral projects, his body falls right where it is in a seemingly boneless heap. This can be really dangerous if said body is not in a safe place or is standing on the edge of a curb or high building. Basic body function (breathing, heart beat) continue while Jameson is astral projecting, but all other reactions cease to function.
There isn’t a whole lot you can do with a one minute time limit and a 50 ft radius when there’s a limp body nearby. If Jameson were to use his power, and someone were to find the body and move it…the area of functionality would change too.
Control…is a bit of a problem. It is possible at this time for Jameson to literally be ‘scared out of his skin’. Normally he’d have to concentrate for his mutation to work, but if he’s startled enough it’ll happen on gut instinct and his body will fall where it stands. Usually he can reverse the process pretty quickly, but this has resulted in some nasty bumps and bruises.

Fighting Style
Explanation: Teenage boy fighting. Mostly, if it goes beyond one punch each…all bets are off.
Pros for fighting style:He’s an athletic teenage boy and can throw a decent punch? Cons for fighting style: If he comes up against anyone who actually knows how to fight, he’s kind of screwed.
Faction Allegiance The X-men/ The Order/ The NYPD/ Unaffiliated: Teenager!
History Of Your Character:
Born in 1994 to Dean and Michelle Harris, Jameson was an only child and and raised like one in Manhattan. The son of an Architect and a Project Manager for an Advertising firm who had taken their time with life and having children, things were quite simply perfect for Jameson growing up. Only saddled with the occasional baby sitter, because his mother refused to hire a nanny to take care of her son, Jameson had the benefit of growing up much more well-rounded than many of the children he came to know throughout his childhood.
Early schooling was excellent for Jameson, and even if his parents weren’t at every soccer/basketball/baseball game, they were active and loving and made sure they did their fair share of carpooling to and from various practices, tournaments, and games. This was both a blessing and a curse as he grew up, because while Jameson had more attention from his parents, they always watched him more closely than his friends. Because of this, he mostly walks the straight and narrow path, but has been known to get into his fair share of mischief.
At 15, while going through a haunted house with a large group of friends, a large scare made something terrifying happen to Jameson. One second he was going back and forth between congratulating himself on the small, feminine hand clasped in his, and trying to act like nothing in the house was scary. The next, a ‘monster’ had jumped out of the darkness and made his scare. Suddenly, it was as if Jameson was watching everything from above. For one terrifying moment, the teen thought he was dead...and so did everyone else. There was much screaming, and running around, pulse checking and cries for help. He’d hit his head on the way down, and was bleeding quite a bit, as even minor head wounds tend to do. Then...in a blink...it was all over and Jameson was looking out at the concerned faces of his friends.
The rest of the night was a bit of a bust, but the same girl had held his hand the whole way to the hospital. It was determined, much to Jameson’s manly chagrin, that he had simply passed out and that everything would be fine.
Except it wasn’t.
The ‘fainting spells’ continued to happen, and Jameson continued to swear that he could remember the experience each time. Finally, his parents stopped worrying that he was taking drugs, and sent him to a specialist who did a test for an active X-gene. The test returned positive.
The first few days were tough, but Jameson’s parents remained the same as they’d always been, loving and supportive. Together, they made the decision that this would not be the thing that defined them or their son. Nothing changed...except now Jameson had a new toy to play with.
School was a little tougher, but to Jameson’s surprise, most of the attention he got was positive. People wanted to see what he could do, and thought it was funny when he accidentally phased out. There were a few incidents with permanent markers and his inert body (you’d be amazed what boys can do in 30 seconds) but all-in-all the normal life of a normal teenager with its normal ups and downs.
This year finds Jameson in the summer before his senior year at Beacon, taking the SAT and ACT and sending off college applications while worrying about the “nightmare senior projects” he’s heard about from upper-classmen the last three years.
Roleplay
Where did you learn about this site?: I don’t even know anymore, but I’m so glad I did! Do you have any other characters on MRO, if so who: Tarin, Kealey, Riley, Quin, and Sarsavati! Sample RP: “Seriously dude?”
Jameson shook his head. This was exactly the sort of thing that Mike always came up with. “Fool-proof” plans that always ended up with one or both of them in trouble. Luckily, Mike was a solid guy and more often than not, they chickened out before things got too bad.
“No. Seriously. I mean, this is for your own good. I won’t get anything out of it...but the idea occurred to me last night and I felt like it was my civic duty to make sure you knew what an amazing opportunity you’ve been missing out on.”
Jameson couldn’t help but chuckle a little at his friend. Of course this was Mikes definition of an “amazing opportunity.” They were at the beach, it was warm, and there was a girl’s dressing room no more than about 100 ft away.
The truth of the matter was...if he wanted to, Jameson could do exactly what it was his friend was suggesting. The same had been true for mall dressing rooms and girl’s locker rooms since he’d figured out exactly what his mutation was capable of. The thought...was tempting.
It was also as creepy as freaking hell.
“I’ll even do body baby sitting duty....” Mike said, but Jameson just shook his head.
“With great power comes great responsibility, dude.” he said as he turned and walked away, feet crunching slightly in the damp sand
