The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

There was something satisfying about Skydancer finally managing to wrap a tube around the scrawny little neck of her opponent. The thrill of victory coursed through her and for a very short moment she exhausted in its full and addictive aroma. This was exactly what she had been working towards, illustrating her superiority in a way that simply could not be denied. Rich and horribly spoiled the girl might be, not to mention rude and witchy, but this was the sort of win that even she couldn't possibly think to deny.
Such an agonizingly short moment later, however and Skydancer came to the very abrupt realization that maybe her victory hadn't been nearly so complete as she had first suspected. In fact, it might even be said that her victory turned to dust before her eyes; no more than an illusion.
A moment after one of her tubes found purchase around the tender little neck, a burning pain shot through it. Skydancer helped and jumped backwards, her tube uncoiling the moment the pain shot through it. The buzzing noise made obvious the source of the sudden pain as did the the change of colour in a small section of her tube, from its usual purple to an angry looking red.
Once again Skydancer took on a defensive posture, her tubes hovering around her, her eyes drilling daggers into the body of her enemy. Now what was she supposed to do? Retreat was less of an option than ever, but how was she supposed to get around that evil taser? She didn't enjoy pain.

“Don’t worry about it, maybe just look up a bit more when you’re walking around… Where are you going like that anyway?”
Skydancer laughed and nodded in agreement. She could be said to have a number of different flaws, not the least of it was the fact that she was sometimes obsessive about her pursuits and deadly serious where they were concerned. When it came to most things in life, however, she had a sense of humour and sometimes one just needed to learn to laugh at oneself.
"I'm not really going anywhere," Skydancer answered. "I think better when I walk and I have a lot of think about lately." She grimaced, not particularly wanting to think about such things anymore. She'd had enough of thinking; sometimes it was better simply to be doing.
"Trying to figure out my future, and all that. One thing about The Mansion is that its helped make it very clear that I actually have one of those to think about now." Although Skydancer had most gotten over the loss of her Olympic dreams, she couldn't' help that last lingering bit of bitterness from showing in her voice.

Why did these things always seem to happen to her. Skydancer was pretty sure she hadn't heard of any other mutants be so clumsy as to fall off a roof and crash into another person, right in the middle of one of the most public places in the city. The returning awareness of where, exactly she was and why shocked her into jumping to her feet, despite the ache of protest along her entire body.
"Oh no, I'm so sorry I wasn't paying enough attention and I feel. Oh dear, are you ok? Is anything broken? Can I help?" Skydancer was sufficiently mortified at what she had done that it took her a moment to realize that she hadn't landed on top of just anyone, but on top of a fellow mutant. She had what appeared to be insect wings on her back and Skydancer was fairly certain they would be magnificent if they weren't currently looking rather crumpled and unhappy along with the crumpled and unhappy woman to accompany them.
That's when she became aware of the mumblings all around her and the crowd the two of them had begun to attraction. "Mutie" was a word that Skydancer picked out of the crowd more than once and she felt a cold shiver run down her body as she remembered the time when she had been imprisoned for her mutation and almost sacrificed simply because she had been spotted as a mutant. There was a closed ring of people milling about, muttering to themselves and pointing in the direction of the pair of them. The crowd seemed to be going.
"Um, I'm really sorry but I'm not sure this is the best place for us right now. Can you walk?" Skydancer spoke low in hopes that the crowd wouldn't be able to pick out her words. She sent a furtive glance around, trying to pinpoint a way of escape. Her exposed tubes made a loose circle around her body as she began thinking defensively.

"A group exercise expedition would be a blast," Skydancer agreed with enthusiasm. Of course, she was reasonably certain that such a group would gather all sorts of unwanted attention and she didn't particularly want to worry about the results of that unfortunate sort of situation. "One or two people is a little more subtle than a big group though." She cringed, imagining the panicked reaction of the people below.
"It must be quite the transformation if your other form risks falling through the roof." Was it something extremely heavy maybe? That was Skydancer's first guess, unless the eyes were some hint at what the true nature of his power was. Then again, her purple skin wasn't much of a hint about her power, so appearances could certainly be deceiving. She blushed slightly at the compliment, trying her best not to take it to heart.
"I'm Skydancer and we'll see if you can keep up with me." Skydancer grinned at Aedus, preparing her own leap. A run and a jump and she was off, a tube wrapping itself around an exposed wrung of a fire escape ladder in order maximize the momentum needed to go from one roof to the next.

@agnes - I see Amber's main protection being in the seclusion of her and her pack. She'll most likely be living in the underground subway system and ranging on the surface for food. She doesn't particularly have anything exceptional to defend her terroritory except her sometimes exceptional but still natural senses and the fact that not many people, mutant or not, are going to want to mess with a dinosaur!

With both Agnes and Amber living out in the wilderness, that might make for an interesting interaction should they encounter one another. Given the world we'll be living in, I'd imagine Amber will have to range quite far in order to hunt for enough food to sustain her little pack.

So long as its not something the Amazons would ban, Skydancer would be willing to participate in Roach's arena. One cannot be the best without testing one's mettle against opponents, after all.

Skydancer found the paper crane to be enchanting and she smiled down at it. It reminded her of her aunt who animated origamis and her memories of the times she had spent with her favourite aunt were almost all fond ones. It was the magnificent gift her aunt possessed that lead her to desire to become a mutant and had shaped so many of her hopes and dreams growing up.
"I'm glad you're feeling better," Skydancer stated genuinely. She didn't want to see anyone suffer who didn't deserve it and, as far as she could tell, the woman didn't deserve it. Now, evil slug mutants that worked to enslave the minds of others, they probably deserved it and she had no problems helping out with the whole justified suffering thing, if it was necessary.
When Kitra left Skydancer gestured to the other side of the bench for the woman to sit down. "I'm really not that scary. Honest. Normally I'm actually quite nice although I've been accused of being a bit intense at times." It was her attempt at being friendly and welcoming. Awkward situation or not, she hoped it would work.

It was time for Skydancer to figure out what she was going to do with her future. More than one person had brought up that particular question with her and she didn't have any more answer now than she had then. The circus was wonderful and she hoped to be doing that for many years, but it wasn't something to build an entire life around. She could only expect to be an acrobat for what, a decade? Maybe two if she was very good and very lucky? After that she had to have options and she simply wasn't sure what those options were going to be, at that time.
Skydancer's current plan, in figuring out her future life, was aimless wanderings around The Mansion. She always thought best when moving but, as this was a very important decision to consider, she needed to engage her entire mind in the question. Thus, her usual rooftop activities didn't quite seem appropriate in this case. There were so many different mutants at The Mansion, some of which stood out like she did and some of which looked entirely human. At that moment, all of them seemed to have a better idea regarding their future than her. Why were these things so complicated to figure out?
Admittedly Skydancer wasn't paying as much attention to what was going on around her as she really should have been. That was how she almost walked straight into a young Asian guy, looking up just in time to skitter to the side without actually colliding with his body. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry I almost ran right into you!" She let out a sheepish laugh at her own mental distraction. At least The Mansion was a safe place and she didn't need to worry about danger lurking around every corner.

Skydancer almost lashed out when the stranger grabbed her arm to steady her. It was a sign that she had spent too long being fearful for her well being because she was a mutant. On the streets, such an action would have almost inevitably lead to violence, but that part of her life was behind her now. She managed to reign her reflexes in before actually hurting anyone and it only took her a moment to realize she was just being paranoid and he was just being nice.
The charming smile the man flashed didn't help Skydancer's somewhat suspicious nature. Maybe it was a sign that he was a genuinely nice and charming individual or maybe it was a sign that he was trying to hard and actually had some nefarious reasons to do so. Now was not the time to call him out on something that may or may not just be baseless suspicion, but it wasn't the time to let go of that suspicion entirely either.
"I can see how you might be curious about someone else hanging out on top of the roofs," Skydancer answered with a smile of her own. Just because she was a little suspicious was not reason not to be polite. She allowed him to take her hand though was careful to keep a weary eye on him just in case he was to try something.
"Other form?" Things clicked into place as Skydancer noticed the man's eyes and realized that he too was a mutant. The knowledge was comforting. "I admit I should have guessed whoever else would be up here would be a mutant too. You're eyes are stunning, I have to admit." This time her smile was minus the suspicion she had felt only moments before.

Why wasn't she leaving like she should? Skydancer didn't understand it. True she hadn't seriously injured the girl, except maybe her pride, but she had clearly shown that she was dangerous, hadn't she? Every one of her tubes were tipped with deadly spiked that could effortlessly impale themselves through human flesh and yet somehow the girl couldn't seem to grasp that fact. It wasn't that she actually wanted to stab the poor thing, but her pride wouldn't allow her to leave things as they were either. It had become a battle of wills more than a battle of might, both of them trying to intimidate the other into admitting the other was the better person and so far the battle of wills had resulted in a stalemate.
The real taser brought a new level of risk to the dance they were engaging in, every bit as dangerous as Skydancer's pointed tubes. She knew that the moment she went in for the attack, the younger girl would zap her with a toy that far too dangerous in her young hands and it was that danger that had caused Skydancer to hesitate for so long. She had to give the girl a bit of credit; she was smart when it came to defending herself and her honor and brave too, even in the face of someone as dangerous as Skydancer was. That, at least, was deserving of some grudging respect. Not that she'd ever actually admit such thoughts out loud.
As Skydancer took a step forward, the girl began to laugh, seemingly glorying in the power of her electric taser, and Skydancer couldn't help but wonder if maybe she was a little mentally unstable. Not that it really mattered anymore. The game had gone on long enough and, whether there was a danger of getting herself electrocuted or not, it was time to end things. She would show the rich girl the meaning of respect if it was the last thing she did.
With a cruel laugh of her own, Skydancer took another step forward, this time keeping a careful eye on her opponent in order to deduce the best possible action. The tubes along her sides waved dramatically, in an effort to distract, while one of the tubes connect to her torso shot out and attempted to wrap itself around her neck. Irritating egotistical, unstable little with or not, Skydancer wasn't about to stab her and risk serious injury. Strangling to unconsciousness, however, seemed like a rather glorious plan.

I like the general idea but I would think a centralized authority in a post apocalyptic future like the one being planned for would be a little less central than they might like. I could see something to the effect of them trying to act as a centralized athority and having a large group of mutants and/or other survivors accepting them as such, but still have vast groups of people that wanted nothing to do with the so-called authority figures. For example, I doubt the Amazons would have anything to do with any authority beyond their own.
Still, I really do like the idea and I think it could definately add some intrigue and another level of conflict to an all ready chaotic and volatile situation.

Do you mean something to the effect of trying to place order back into the world? Kind of like a group of mutants trying to enforce justice and ensure survival and cooperation is possible for all?
