The X-men run missions and work together with the NYPD, striving to maintain a peaceful balance between humans and mutants. When it comes to a fight, they won't back down from protecting those who need their help.
Haven presents itself as a humanitarian organization for activists, leaders, and high society, yet mutants are the secret leaders working to protect and serve their kind. Behind the scenes they bring their goals into reality.
From the time when mutants became known to the world, SUPER was founded as a black-ops division of the CIA in an attempt to classify, observe, and learn more about this new and rising threat.
The Syndicate works to help bring mutantkind to the forefront of the world. They work from the shadows, a beacon of hope for mutants, but a bane to mankind. With their guiding hand, humanity will finally find extinction.
Since the existence of mutants was first revealed in the nineties, the world has become a changed place. Whether they're genetic misfits or the next stage in humanity's evolution, there's no denying their growing numbers, especially in hubs like New York City. The NYPD has a division devoted to mutant related crimes. Super-powered vigilantes help to maintain the peace. Those who style themselves as Homo Superior work to tear society apart for rebuilding in their own image.

Lumen is back, after my hiatus geesh was so busy. Anyway, looking to get back into some threads for others, If you took part in the time jump, perhaps I can RP with you there.
If not, Lumen is a private detective and while on the case for the missing kids, is also available for odd jobs
Or, I am up for anything else really to get things going again!
She sat in the master's chamber. It was a small room, but decorated with tapestries of all sorts. Lumen still couldn't figure out what time she had jumped to. She wasn't sure either on which part of the globe since aside from the mild Celtic accent these people could easily be mistaken for British.
The Maester has shown up quite quickly after the king summoned him. He appeared cold and uncaring as he and the guard escorted Lumen down the hall to his chambers. Every muscle in her body was screaming from the trauma of the time jump, and all she wanted to do was bolt from here and get her bearings. She was still alive though- which meant she must have at LEAST peeked their curiosity.
She'd been sitting now, on a stone chair next to a small wooden table while the maester poured over books for at least 20 minutes now. She was silent and remained unmoving- knowing a guard was positioned right outside the door. He seemed very intent on finding something in the book so she simply waited and observed him. He was a short man in stature, with bushy gray eyebrows and salt and pepper hair cropped close to his ears. He wore elegant robes of purple and green. Whenever he moved she heard a tinkling sound. The maester seemed to be in his late 50's though his skin was well worn more like a sailors or a farmers.
"Ah, here we go. Belisama the goddess of light and fire." he said pointing his finger to an illustration and caption on the page. "this ought to sway his Majesty." he grinned looking accomplished. Lumen simply stared. He became aware of her suddenly and hopped a little. "oh my dear, let me explain. I am sorry for the lack of courtesy, we all must wear masks. Yes indeed..." an odd one... for sure. "But I, am like you. A... shall we say.. gifted person..." he began.
"A mutant?" demanded Lumen a little harsher than she intended.
"Well, I suppose that would be an excellent choice of wording... I can see from your mind it's the one they use in your time." his eyes sparkled as he looked at her with a knowing glance. Realization spread across Lumen's face. "Yes, a mutant. I have the gift to read minds. I can know your entire life experience, your every thought and memory, from simply looking in your eyes. I know you come by your story genuinely... this is not the time you intended to be. Though I must admit... one with such ability to move through the very fabric of time... even I dare not dream of something..."
Lumen was silent a moment, processing this information. "What was that name you said earlier?" she asked, still unsure if this man was an ally.
"Belisama- she is the Goddess of light and fire. I'll be telling the king that you are a descendant of hers. He'll consider your life very valuable." He watched her face for a reaction.
"So that will satisfy the king as to why I appeared glowing on his table?"
"Perhaps..." began the Maester. "Perhaps not. But the king is smarter than he appears. He knew right away I was not an ordinary Maester. While he will not directly speak of my powers, he still indirectly utilizes them as well as my council frequently. He will see you as a powerful ally as soon as he understand you are like me."
Lumen thought about this for a moment. " Why should I be his ally?" she finally asked, feeling blocked into a corner and knowing the answer before the maester even spoke.
"my dear, I have seen your mind. You have no choice. You have no idea when the time boy will return for you, or when the effects of his power will wear off. You have no idea if your... friend... Paul... is here or somewhere else either. Part of you still wonders why you were drawn to this place with a boy prince with the same name as your missing brother."
She didnt like that the Maester knew so much so quickly. She was on guard, but some small part of Lumen did tell her she could trust him. She wondered if it was simply the fact he was also a mutant and she felt alone.
"We'll present you at breakfast to the royal family, and see where we can go from there. I'll have a chamber maid escort you to your evening lodgings, and we'll see about having the dress maker create something for you." his eyes drifted back down to his book and Lumen wondered what the heck she'd gotten herself into.
Lumen felt herself blushing, and with the blushing came the glowing. "I didnt realize wax figures could drink." she offered. Charlie mimed trying to open a bottle of champagne only to have the invisible plastic cork hit him in the face. He offered an invisible glass to the Bond man who looked rather annoyed.
It felt weird to have Paul be a little possessive of her. She wasn't entirely sure of their status. Some days Lumen wanted to put a label on it, but most days she felt better knowing there wasnt one. There was no telling when she might need to pick up and leave. Just thinking that very thought had her mind drifting into a dark place. She shook it loose after she realized the whole group of wax figures minus Kanye were now standing in a semi circle around herself and Paul.
She looked at them each individually for a moment. The hilarious characters, the real life versions of actors and infamous people... what an odd mutation for someone to have. She wondered if the mutant could make other inanimate objects come alive and her thoughts drifted to a news anchor with a certain friendly ball of paperclips... " What'll happen... I mean... when he wakes up?"she asked them.
Sherlock took a step forward and with a smile extended his hand to take Lumens. He could see the concern on her face. "You need not worry" he patted her hand. "We usually get a tingly sensation when he's about to wake. It's about a minute's warning....
Laura Croft/Anjolina finished the sentence for him, " and then we simply return to where we're supposed to be and become stiff again."
Lumen studied her hand in the hands of Sherlock, waxy, and pale. It was sad. They weren't real, just wax. But she felt sad for them. To have these few hours of life only to return to a state like death. "Oh we still know what's happening, we all here are friends..." said Johny Depp putting a bit of emphasis on the word friends. Charlie swung an arm around him and wiggled his moustache.
"But darlin, we all get another chance at it again. So long as he keeps snoozin." finished Marilyn looking at Lumen with a bright smile over her feathery lashes.
Lumen still felt sad, but the little dark feeling lifted a little and she smiled at her wax companions. She looked up at Paul with a sly grin then turned to her friends. "So what do you all do around here for fun?"
I finished my teaching term wooo!!! I have to take some workshops/PD next week but Im alllmost caught up on reading all your posts ^.^; Report cards are a killer... so i am hoping to be back to posting daily fairly soon. Thanks for all the patience! see you soon! <3
Lumen laughed and laughed. She couldn't help it. Paul's reactions to the characters were just as hilarious as the characters themselves. Kanye was getting rather annoying though- so she wasn't the least bit surprised when 'Laura' tackled and hog tied him to a wooden chair.
...best action film of all ti- Laura was so nice, she gagged him too. She shot a wink at Lumen who grinned from ear to ear as the muffled commentary of Kanye was still heard.
Charlie was leading the way to the author room. Sherlock was commenting to Marlyn about meeting the wax version of his creator and the strange experience it has been. Laura- having left behind Kanye was now trying to pull along Johnny Depp. Johnny looked a little odd again. ...these are my friends... see how they glisten...." he sang very softly. Laura rolled her eyes.
" Let's be friends, Johnny" Sang Elvis just a little louder. Johnny shot him a look like he was about to wring his neck, and Elvis quieted down.
Inside the author room a J K Rowling was talking with a Stephen King. There indeed was a Tolkien discussing the fine points of fantasy writing with a Neil Gaiman. Lumen was just following Charlie's lead- who seemed to be tight-rope-walking to the fantasy men when someone suddenly dipped her back like a tango move. She stood there, nearly on the ground, with a waxy hand supporting her back connected to a waxy man in a spiffy suit.
"Hello." he grinned. She had no idea who he was, but he just reeked of playboy to the point she actually wondered if he was Heph himself- though he didn't look like the photos she'd seen.
"Uh... Hi..." said Lumen trying to wriggle out of his grip. "Who exactly are you?" she asked peering up at him wondering what Paul must think of all this.
"Don't tell me you dont recognize double oh seven in the flesh. Er, wax, rather." he waggled his eyebrows. He was British, that was about all she could figure out.
"You don't look like any James Bond I've ever seen." Lumen got herself up and was now standing next to Paul. "Who is this wacko?" she asked him
Raina grinned, glad that Luke was enjoying his food. It all felt so normal, like no time has passed between them. But part of her ached in the pit of her stomach knew it wasnt true. It didn't matter anymore, he was here now.
"I do, but school doesn't start til 9am and we have a 2 hour lunch since it gets so hot around then. The kids go home for a nap- even the older ones- or help with chores at home. They come back and have studies again from 2-4. So, we can sleep in a little and I can visit with you on my lunch break too."
She hadn't thought about the sleeping arrangements. There WERE two bedrooms after all. Or could they really just pick up where they left off? Her mind raced a bit as well as her pulse. Both in fear and anticipation. It would be so nice to feel his skin against her... but she also felt like she'd only just stopped feeling the pain. Would she put her hands on those hot coals so soon?
"We've been planting a school garden." she started to try and distract her mind from the places it had been going. Luke was tired, and they were both emotionally exhausted. While an emotional reunion seemed to be taking place she wasn't sure how she felt about a physical one.... yet.
"That's where a lot of the food I gave you came from." she stood up and took the dishes from him, placing them in the sink. "The sun will set soon. Would you like to take a walk on the beach with me?"
She'd been so in control of her powers now it was amazing. She only shifted into her form when she really wanted to, or was under too much stress that she couldn't help it. True enough that she couldn't swim for long without the change coming, but she could shower, bathe, cry, drink, and walk with her feet in the water with little to no effort when it came to blocking the change. Raina found she really enjoyed letting her feet cool in the ocean.
Hi, I know I keep posting excuses here, but the fact is I got so behind and now I'm trying to read and catch up on threads before I get posting again! I am hoping to be back by Wed for those who have plans with me, and hopefully be starting up new planned threads. Thanks for the patience, was sick, then extremely busy, then on vacation, and then a mix of it all haha.
I will say I am expecting the rest of March and then April to be fairly sporadic with my posting. I just dont want people to assume I am going inactive. Seriously, you all read like a soap opera some times hahaha I gotta get my read on before I get my post on! <3
Tuesday has come and gone and Im still kinda running here. Sorry guys mostly to Phoenix! I dont want anyone to think I'm just going to go AFK forever, lol I just am finding it hard to find the time to sit down and get out a post. I dont wanna fall into the bad habit of posting for the sake of posting and having crappy quality posts.
Hey all, Ive done my best to wrap up threads as I head out on vacation. Phoenix is being patient with me about 2 haha anyway Im off to be a mermaid in Florida, so I wont be starting anything new til I get back. I dont think it affects anyone but Paul for the moment. Love you all! <3
ic: Lumen had been aware of a falling feeling biting force of gravity- then, slamming into something. Both her hands were underneath her so she knew she no longer held onto Paul. She was overwhelmed by a bright light and it took her a moment to realize it was coming from her- unbridled and gleaming. She could hear muffled voices but her ears hadn't yet adjusted. There was something squishy under her too. "Riori?" she called out turning her face toward the sounds. The noises got louder. "Please- I'm trying to find my brother Riori..." She did her best to dim the light and the ringing in her ears started to ease up. She was overwhelmed with the conversation going on around her.
"Prince Riori? Her brother? He came from mine own loins and I swear I not birth another"- a male voice.
"She was floating in the air- like a spirit of angel of sort- with a heavenly glow" - A child's voice
"Just look at the mess-"
"Someone call the royal guards, do not kill her but be prepared- we know not what this creature is!"
Finally Lumen's vision started to come back and she realized that she'd been smashed into a table. Only, not just a table, a table covered in food. her knee was in the mashed potatoes. It was a very long table, with people seated on other side and a man, woman, and child at the head. She turned her head toward them trying to make sense.
"Prince Riori we know not who she is- it's bad luck to look upon it"
"Prince... Riori?" they had a thick accent not unlike her own which she'd forgotten to hide. The child sitting in between the man and woman wore a crown on top of his red curls. He'd be no older than 5 or 6. He looked nothing like her Riori. "Where am I?" she struggled to right herself when she suddenly felt strong hands on either side.
"So bright!"
She was lifted from the table and made to stand. "You stand in front of his royal prince Riori of Davenshale. The Queen Mother her grace Lila of Riverport, and The King Father his grace Peter of Davenshale." said one of the booming voices holding her up. Lumen stared at the little family confused and began to take in her surroundings.
She was standing in a great hall made of stone. There were hearths burning on either side of the room and the long table was covered with food. Many people sat around the table all dressed like they were out of a movie. Lumen struggled to get her wits back and make sense of it all. What had she just been doing? Oh God.. the candlestick man... er eyes scanned the room for Paul but she did not see him. She turned her face back to the royal family staring at her expectedly.
"Uh, your graces." she managed to get out while the realization of what was happening started to dawn on her.
"Who is she father- the glowing lady?" asked the little prince.
"Indeed." said the king. "Who are you woman? Be you friend or foe?" all eyes were turned on her and she could see that the men around her were ready to draw swords at a moments notice. She bit her lip, focused on her lights, took a deep breath in, and tried to imagine herself somewhere else. It seemed to work. The lights drastically lessened and the people around her responded with oohhs and awws.
"I apologize your graces." she started to say mustering as much courage as she could. She needed to come across strong, determined, and of her own authority. "I was searching for my brother, it seems I fell into some sort of trap and ended up on your table. I could not explain to you how- I do not know myself."
It was a strange enough response- but considering the fact that only moments ago she was suspended in mid air above their table and glowing the King and Queen remained silent. The little prince however...
"Your brother, named Riori- like me?" he asked excited. His mother put a hand on his shoulder to hush him.
"Yes your highness, like you." replied Lumen trying to keep her cool as all eyes were upon her. Her face was turned to the little prince but her eyes were darting about the room in case she needed to escape. She was sure if she put her lights on full blast it would blind them just long enough for her to slip away.
"By what magic do you shine?" Demanded the king.
"I... I cannot say your highness. I am special, and from a different time where many people have different..." she struggled for a word "Magic..." she said hopefully.
The King studied her, then clapped his hands. "Guards, fetch me the maester." he ordered. "Woman, you would do well to remain docile. Should you attack us with your lights or some other strange power I'll have you killed on the spot." yeah, Lumen guessed as much.
Lumen couldn't respond- because she was laughing too hard. "Oh my god... they made a Kanye west? Why-"
"Imma let you finish bra, but Kanye West is one of the best hip hop artists of ALL TIME. he interjected.
"Oh my, I guess I forgot." she giggled giving Paul's hand a squeeze.
Elvis was escorting Johny Depp who seemed to be doing that weird acting thing where the actor commits to their characters 100% of the time - though he was cycling through his characters. He was bantering on now about oompa loompas and Sherlock had now joined Elvis on the other side of Johny to lead the way.
Anjolina/Laura Croft had caught up with Marilyn and was pointing in the direction of the next room where yet another figure was walking out. Lumen couldn't help feeling excited. She knew Paul was starting to get rather annoyed with the whole situation. "Cheer up Paul, we've got this room and one more to go through. I think this is silent film stars then we're on to famous authors. I wonder if Stephen King makes an appearance?"
She led Paul, and their little brigade of mix-matched celebrities into the next room. She didn't notice as she walked through the door that someone stepped behind her. He began to mimic her movements as she walked. She stopped for a second, let go of Paul's hand, and turned around. There was no one standing there anymore- and the other wax beings were stifling a laugh. (Well, everyone except Laura Croft who'd just shoved a hand across Kanye's yabbering mouth)
Lumen shrugged and went on ahead of Paul seeing many interesting apparently not alive Wax figures- but none she recognized. The strange person stepped behind her again. Clearly another wax being. He was a tall thin man, with a rounded cap wearing a black suit. Suddenly he turned his face to the lineup behind him and winked. There was an iconic little moustache that he wriggled under his nose- and a pair of very bright eyes lightly underlined. He made no sound as he returned to shadowing Lumen. When she got the sense she was being followed (and not just by the lineup she was expecting to see) she turned around again. The wax figured jumped into a pose a few metres away from her. So Lumen simply stared at the others. "Uh... I guess I dont know many of the actors here."
Her sight was focused on the lineup behing her, and not on the man. He was now quietly mocking her movements and speech. The lineup giggled. Lumen raised an eyebrow and casually looked in the direction of man who was now standing frozen again. She turned and approached him with a sceptical look. She raised an eyebrow. The statue wiggled his nose and raised an eyebrow too. "Charlie Chaplin." she grinned, to which the statue began to move and silent clap- then took a silent bow. The lineup cheered.
Raina turned her big bright eyes up to his face. She studied his face for a moment- the same way she had when he first gave his speech. All those line- were so familiar. It surprised her how many things came rushing back. There were new lines too, and he looked tired. When Luke buried himself in work- that tended to be exactly what he did. "You look tired." she finally commented after a few moments. "Have you eaten?"
She didnt wait for a response but stood up and took his hand, leading him back inside the small house. It was actually a hostel but Raina was the only occupant at the moment. It was made with 3 bedrooms- one in which she occupied the other 2 were vacant. Here was the small but well stocked kitchen, there was a sitting room in the front, and a bathroom with an old fashioned claw tub. "Here." she said leading him to an old fashioned bar stool that stood next to the kitchen's island that served as a table.
She went into the fridge and brought out several varieties of fruit. She quickly chopped them into bite sized pieces and fetched the bread she'd bought earlier. She got him a tall cool glass of filtered water and laid it out in front of him- taking the stool that was opposite. "I think we're both running on Adrenaline- but I know when you're hungry and tired." She grinned. It was true, after all this time she would never forget.
